One week later Jane and Maura made their way to the custom tshirt shop that had been tasked with creating Maddie's t-shirt. They had decided to hold off the surprise until Cailin was better so she could enjoy taking part in a celebration.

Maura could help but notice how quiet her wife was being. When they pulled into the parking lot and Jane turned off the car, Maura decided to ask what was up.

"Jane, you haven't said a word all morning. What's wrong?"

Jane didn't intend for it to come flying out like it did but it had been weighing heavy on her mind ever since they had found out Maddy was a match for Cailin. The moment Maura asked, it just came out before Jane could filter herself.

"When we had in vitro done, were you sleeping with someone else at the same time?"

Maura gasped. "Of course not! What exactly are you trying to say?"

"Come on Maur. One in a million odds that my biological child would be a match for Cailin. You may be a genius but i'm not stupid myself. Maddy is your biological child, not mine."

Maura couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Jane," She tried to get her wife to look at her but she wouldn't. "Jane, please look at me."

The tone of her wife's words were hard for Jane to hear. She didn't want to think what she had been thinking but she couldn't help it. Maura tried one last time to get her attention.

"Jane, baby please look at me." Maura placed her hand softly on Jane's cheek and turned her head to face her. When brown eyes locked on her own Maura's heart broke again for the hurt she could see looking back.

"I would never be unfaithful to you Jane. I've loved you from the moment we met. I would never do anything to hurt you in that way."

"Yeah right," Jane muttered, not realizing she said it out loud.

Maura's eyes widened. "Excuse me?"

"I wouldn't do anything to hurt you in that way. I've heard that line before. I just never thought i'd be stupid enough to fall for it again."

In that moment, Maura felt her heart shatter into a million pieces. It took her a few moments to speak, She felt as if Jane had knocked all the wind out of her with those words, without even touching her.

Her eyes filled with tears and her voice shook with every word when she finally spoke.

"I can't believe you just compared me to her. Jane, I love you."

Jane huffed at her wife's words. "Then how do you explain Maddy? She looks nothing like me. She's a carbon copy of you Maura. I never questioned it before because I thought she inherited some traits from the donor we used but now that we know she's a perfect match for Cailin it makes sense. Seriously Maur, what are the odds of that happening?"

Jane looked away from her wife and stared out the window. Maura took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself.

"I know what this looks like but let me prove it to you, please."

"How?" That was all Jane said, never once looking in her wife's direction.

"Well we can have a maternity test done. When the results come back it will prove that I have never been unfaithful to you. She's your biological daughter Jane. There is zero chance that she is mine."

Jane slowly looked up and for the first time saw the hurt in Maura's eyes and noticed her tears.

Jane began to cry herself.

"I'm sorry Maura. What am I supposed to think? Do you think I want to think for a second that you would cheat on me? The facts are not adding up though. If you did, don't put us through all this. Just be honest with me."

"Jane, you know I can't lie."

Jane looked at Maura and couldn't help but smile. She hadn't even thought about that. Her wife could in fact not lie. She looked her wife up and down. Not a hive in sight.

"I don't need a maternity test Maur. I'm sorry. I just freaked out. I don't know if I could go on if I found out you cheated on me. You and our kids are my entire world. It's just, I've been burned before you know."

Maura reached out for Jane and pulled her to her before gently kissing her.

"I am not her Jane. I would never hurt you like that. You and the kids are also my entire world. I didn't need anyone else then and I don't need anyone else now. You are my everything."

Maura pulled her wife to her again as Jane started to cry harder. The sight of Jane crying always made her heart hurt.

Even though Jane said she didn't need the maternity test, Maura decided she would still get it done. Not because she had to, but to do whatever she had to do to put her wife's mind at ease. She could see how much she was hurting and Maura had to admit, if the roles were reversed, she would probably be suspicious herself.

After a few minutes Maura spoke. "I know you don't need the maternity test done but I would still like to do it. I just want to put your mind at ease. I don't like to see you hurting like this."Maura gently ran her fingers through Jane's hair. This always seemed to relax the brunette. Jane nodded in agreement.

"OK Maura, but I don't need it. I believe you. Before we go in, is there anything else bothering you?" Maura gently continues to run her fingers through Jane's hair.

The brunette sighed before speaking. "I miss you Maur. I know that sounds crazy but with everything that's been going on we've been stretched so thin that we don't seem to have time, alone anymore. Well no more than a few minutes, an hour if we are lucky."

Maura could not only see but hear the vulnerability in her wife's words. It didn't take her long to figure out a plan. She smiled at her wife. "How about tonight, after Cailin's celebration, we let Em and Riley stay with the littles and Blaire and my mom can stay with Cailin and Jess. You and I can sneak away for the night."

Jane grinned, "Would it be horrible if we just skipped the celebration altogether?"

Maura laughed and slapped her wife's arm playfully. "Jane! We can't just skip out."

Jane couldn't help but laugh. "It was worth a shot," she says as she kisses her wife sweetly.

"Come on Jane. Let's get Maddy's shirt then we can get home and get this celebration started. Then we can end the night with some fireworks," Maura says as she winks at her wife.

"You don't have to tell me twice," Jane says as she quickly scrambles out of the car and heads inside the store to pick up Maddie's shirt. Maura could only laugh.

A bit later, as Jane came out of the store and climbed into the car, she pulled the shirt out of the bag and held it up for Maura to see.

"Look Maur." It was a simple pink t-shirt with the word's Aunt Cailin's Hero printed on the front. What took it over the top of the cuteness scale, was an attached cape that trailed behind the shirt.

"Oh my God. That's great," Maura said with a smile.

"Isn't it? Let's go. I can't wait to see the look on Jess and Cailin's faces."

An hour later, Maura was standing in her and Jane's bedroom helping Maddy get dressed. As Maura helped her put on the shirt, the little girl smiled from ear to ear.

"Look mommy! I'm a superhero!"

"You sure are," Maura says with a huge smile. "Are you ready to go see Aunt Cailin?"

Maddy nodded. They had decided to surprise Jess and Cailin with only Jane, Maura, Hope, and their kids with the addition of Emily and Riley of course. While they wished the entire family could be present, cramping all those people with Cailin in the small guesthouse was not a good idea. The rest of the family would be over later for a dinner celebration though, with strict instructions to only see Cailin from a distance.. Jane and Maura had already shared the great news with them, but for Jess and Cailin, it would be a complete surprise.

The family made their way out to the guest house, where Hope, Emily, and Ry were already waiting. Maura stood outside the guesthouse and made sure to thoroughly sanitize her daughter's hands. Then she unzipped the bag that held the clear rain coat that she had Hope sterilize using the sterilizing machine at the clinic. While it may have been overkill, and neurotic as her kids like to always say, she was willing to take no chances after what happened. She had thought about revealing the surprise from a distance, but she knew Cailin would be very excited and want to hug Maddy without a doubt.

Maddy looked up at her mother like she was nuts.

"It's not raining silly," Maddy said with a laugh.

Maura smiled. "Yes, I know but that is a special raincoat. It is germ free so you can give Aunt Cailin a big hug without making her sick."

Maura pointed inside. "Go on, Go see her and give her a big hug."

Maura didn't have to tell Maddy twice. The little girl flew through the door of the guesthouse, bouncing with excitement.

Cailin's eyes grew large as she pounced onto Cailin's bed.

Cailin looked over at Maura waiting for her to have a coronary but she didn't. "She wanted to see you. She's OK. Mom sterilized the raincoat just for her."

This time, Cailin looked at Maura like she was crazy. "Really Maur? A raincoat? What's wrong with a sterilized hospital gown?"

"Well I mean, we see how well that worked out for you," Blaire couldn't help blurting out.

"Shut up Blaire," Cailin said with a glare.

"Ohhhhhh, mommy. She said a bad word," Abby called out.

"Sorry Abby. Hush Blaire."

"That's not any better," Abby said, in a tone that screamed she was Jane Rizzoli's daughter.

Maura shook her head. This surprise wasn't working out too well seeing as everyone seemed to be talking about everything but Maddy's shirt. Maddy fixed that though.

"Look!" Maddy pulled at the cape underneath the clear raincoat. "I'm a superhero!"

"Well that's great superwoman," Cailin says with a smile.

Maura inwardly groaned as Cailin still didn't take notice. It was Jess that first noticed as Maddy turned her direction. Her mouth dropped wide as she flew up off the bed.

"No way mom!"

Maura grinned as she looked at Jess and nodded.

"Oh my god! Way to go Maddy," Jess says as she goes to sweep the girl up in her arms.

"NO!" Hope and Maura yell out at the same time. Jess stopped in her tracks. It would appear Cailin was going to be the only one allowed to enjoy Maddy hugs for this special moment.

"Don't take it personally Jess. You just have cooties," Blaire says as she looks at her sister and sticks out her tongue.

"Well, i've been sleeping two feet from her so if I have cooties we are in trouble," Jess says with a smile. "Maddy is not going to pick up anything from me that is not all over Cailin."

Maura looked at Jane as she dropped her jaw. She hadn't even thought about that and apparently neither had Hope.

Jane grinned. "I love you Maur but you are the smartest dumb person I know."

"Hey!" Hope and Maura say in unison again.

Jess looked from Maura to Maddy and back again.

"Oh, go ahead," Maura says.

Jess swept her sister into her arm and covered her in kisses. "I love you squirt."

Cailin, watching all this, still has not caught on. "Would someone like to fill me in? I'm lost."

Jane bursts into laughter. "Why is it all these smart doctors are dumb?"

Maura turned and looked at her wife.

"You know Jane, It'd be a pity to have to cancel tonight," she said as she raised her eyebrow and grinned.

Jane stuttered. "D-d-d-did I say dumb? I meant genius," she said with a smile.

"Still lost," Cailin calls out to no one in particular.

Jess smiles as she carries her sister over to Cailin and places her on the bed.

"Let Aunt Cailin see your shirt Maddy," Jess says.

Maddy climbed over into Cailin's lap and sat facing her so she could clearly see the shirt for the first time.

A look of shock crossed Cailin's face as she looked at the little girl then around at everyone in the room. Her eyes immediately filled with tears.

"Oh Maddy," she says as she hugs the little girl tightly and her tears fall even harder.

When she lets go, Maddy looks up at Cailin and gently wipes at the tears going down her face.

"Don't cry Aunt C. Why are you crying?"

"I'm just so happy to see you Maddy," Cailin says with a smile. "I needed a superhero to come visit me and you did."

Maddy smiled wide at her aunt and then her moms. "I'm Aunt Cailin's hero," she says proudly as she fidgeted with the cape.

Jane looked over at her wife and smiled before scooping up their daughter and peppering her little face with kisses until Maddy squealed and wiggled from her arms.

Jane bent down and placed a kiss on the top of Cailin's head.

"We love kiddo, everything is going to be okay."

Cailin smiled up at Jane, her eyes still filled with tears.

Maura did the same followed by Hope then Jess.

Maddy tugged on Maura's hand. "Mommy, can we have cake now?"

Everyone in the room began to laugh. Riley grinned. "Maura may have birthed the twins but they sure take after you in the appetite department Rizzoli," she says laughing.

"Yeah, well the smarts come from their gorgeous mom," Jane says smiling at her wife.

Em looks over at Riley. "Now why can't you say sweet things like that to me?" Riley's face turned red as Callie laughed.

"Ry, you better step up your game. Ma is showing you up and we can't have that because she doesn't need her ego boosted."

"Hey!" Jane said, trying to forge hurt.

Callie laughed more before walking over to Cailin giving her a tight hug.

Cailin listened to all the jokes and laughs and was happy to see her family coming back together. For the first time since this all started she finally felt like she could breathe again.

A little while later, the Rizzoli's showed up and Angela went to work in the kitchen with Emily's help making a feast. While she was working on that, Frankie and Tommy made their way out to the guest house to say hello to Cailin. As they stood in the doorway Tommy was the first to make a comment about the viral Facebook post.

"So Frankie, when are you going to teach me to moonwalk?" Tommy cracked a grin at his brother.

Frankie, knowing where this was headed, held back his laughter.

"Tommy you know I don't have the time right now but maybe Cailin can teach you."

As soon as Frankie uttered those words he and Tommy both broke into a fit of laughter.

Cailin didn't find it as amusing.

"Ha ha, very funny guys, maybe you can ask Jane to teach you two some new material because that was so lame. How long have you two be rehearsing that?"

Both Tommy and Frankie's laughter died instantly.

Just then, Jess came back from the bathroom. "I heard you guys laughing, care to fill me in?"

"No," Cailin said, glaring at Frankie and Tommy.

Jess held her hands up in surrender.

"How are you feeling Jess?" Frankie asks warmly.

Jess looked down at the floor, still embarrassed by her actions. "I'm doing better."

Frankie's heart hurt for Jess, he had seen many people like Jess before but it was different because this was his family.

"Well I'm proud of you Jess. Janie told me how hard you're working to get better and move forward. That takes a lot of courage."

Jess looked up and smiled. "Thanks uncle Frankie but honestly I couldn't do any of this without all of you." Jess looks over at Cailin. "I have a future to look ahead to with a special someone."

Cailin smiled through the tears that threatened to fall. She still wasn't past what they talked about but she wasn't going to bring that up right now.

"Hey Jess," Frankie calls.

"Yeah?"

"Can we talk outside for a minute?" Frankie asked, nodding towards the door.

Jess looked to Cailin who nodded. The redhead followed Frankie outside.

"What's up?"

Frankie sits in one of the outdoor chairs pointing Jess to the other. Once Jess sat she spoke hurriedly. "Look uncle Frankie, if this about me taking money from mom, I told her I would pay it back. I apologized, I know that doesn't fix it..." Jess was stopped when Frankie held up his hand.

"Whoa, Jess slow down, that's not why I asked you to come outside. Although I'm not happy to hear you stole, what I want to talk to you about is your dealer. I want a name Jess."

Jess's eyes went wide as she quickly jumped out of her chair, nearly knocking it over in the process. Though she tried to fight it, her eyes still filled with tears.

"No."

"Come on Jess. What if they deal to someone and they die? Don't you even care? You don't need to be protecting some scum like that, you're a cop Jess. With or without you, I'm going to figure out who it is and I'm going to throw their ass in jail and throw away the key. That is if they don't give me a reason to put them in the ground for good."

Frankie's anger was growing with every word but so was Jess's.

Before Jess realized what she was doing she just reacted.

"Fuck you uncle Frankie! Just because he's a dealer doesn't mean he's a waste of space! He's still a person, someone who needs help just like me!"

Jess's voice cracked with every word. Her chest rapidly raised and fell with every breath. Thinking better of what was happening, she quickly walked away before things could get worse.

Kate was standing nearby talking with Blaire when Jess came charging towards them. As Jess tried to speed past, Kate quickly caught her by the back of her shirt and pulled her back.

"Hey, what's going on? Talk to me Jess."

Jess's anger quickly turned to tears.

"Uncle Frankie is a jerk," Jess said, without further explanation.

Kate looked over towards Frankie before looking back at Jess. "What happened?"

"He asked about my dealer."

Kate hesitated for a moment."Well Jess, that's kind of his job."

Jess quickly shook her head no.

"It's not just that Kate. He made a comment that he was looking for a reason to put him under the ground. He's not just a drug dealer. He was, at one time, the only family Blaire and I had."

Kate dropped her mouth open in disbelief. Not at what Jess said, but at Frankie's actions. She felt a cop making such a statement was unprofessional at best, and downright unethical at worst.

In those few moments while Kate was distracted, Blaire made her way over to Frankie, the anger practically dripping from her bones.

"How dare you!"

Blaire quickly lunged towards Frankie only to quickly be pulled back by Jess.

"Come on Blaire. This isn't going to solve anything. Do you want ma to kill you? ."

A booming voice from the distance affirmed Jess's words.

"Blaire Elizabeth Rizzoli-Isles" Jane and Maura made their way over towards their daughters, both with their hands on their hips.

"I don't care who speaks first but one of you better start talking and fast." Jane looked between her two daughters waiting for one of them to speak.

"Uncle Frankie is an ass hole and no, I will not apologize to him before you even ask. He's lucky I didn't deck him."

Jane gritted her teeth as she tried desperately to keep her patience. She had been trying to teach Blaire to not act on her emotions with anger for years. It would appear they still were not there yet. Before Jane could speak, Maura stepped in.

"Blaire, go inside and cool off please. When you are ready to talk to us without the attitude then we will discuss this."

"No mom. I am not a kid and you will not tell me what to do. I outgrew that bullshit a long time ago."

This time it was Maura's turn to try not to lose her patience."Blaire, I will not tell you again. Go inside."

What flew out of Blaire's mouth next floored Jane. She was sure after the last time Blaire would never be dumb enough to say it again. She was wrong. Only this time, it was directed at Maura.

"Fuck off mom."

Jane started to step in but Maura didn't give her the chance. Blaire knew in an instant she had made a serious mistake by the deadly glare that was sent her direction.

"Jane, give me your belt."

Jane was sure she heard her wife wrong. "Do what Maur?"

"You heard me Jane. I said give me your belt."

For a moment Jane just stood there in shock before she finally responded.

"OK Maura but let's at least go inside. That's something you need to do privately. Not out here in front of God and everyone. You know that. You need to calm down."

"Well, Blaire didn't seem to care about disrespecting me in front of an audience."

Jane hesitated for a moment while she thought the situation over before she finally unbuckled her belt and pulled it off, passing it to her wife. As she did she turned around and called out to Emily. "Em, would you mind taking the littles inside for about twenty minutes?"

Emily nodded and quickly went around and gathered the kids taking them inside. Kate, Jess, and Frankie, knowing what was about to happen, followed them.

As soon as everyone was out of sight Jane nodded and Maura turned to her daughter.

Jane watched on nervously. As a rule she never allowed herself to deal with her kids when she was angry. At the same time, she was trying to allow Maura her own space because she was clearly upset. Telling her she was wrong would just cause problems. Jane would step in if she had to but she hoped it wouldn't be needed.

"Come here Blaire," Maura said as she pointed at the spot in front of her.

Slowly, Blaire approached her mom. "I'm sorry mom."

"It's too late for i'm sorry Blaire. Turn around."

Blaire didn't argue. She knew she had screwed up so she turned around and bent over and waited. Maura gave her three licks with the belt back to back. By the third one, she couldn't hold back her tears.

Suddenly she was wishing she wasn't still wearing leggings from practice at the Boys and Girls Club that morning. They offered little protection and those licks stung like no other.

"Now, are you going to continue with this disrespect? If you are I can give you a few more."

Blaire quickly shook her head from side to side. "No ma'am! No more. I swear."

Maura sighed and handed Jane back her belt before turning her daughter to face her..

"Blaire I can understand being upset. You won't always like or agree with what someone has to say. However, no matter how angry you are, disrespect on that level towards your family will never be okay. What kind of example are you setting for your little sisters?"

Blaire didn't mean to say what she said next and she certainly wasn't intending to be disrespectful. It just came tumbling out. "Amelia is not my sister. She is my daughter or have you forgotten that?"

Maura eyes went wide. "OK, so I guess you do need a few more," she said flatly as she reached over to grab Jane's belt again. Only this time, Jane pulled it from Maura's reach before pulling Maura away.

"That's enough Maura. You are angry. This isn't something we have ever done and we're not going to start now. This," Jane said as she held up the belt, " is not a decision we take lightly and it's not something we do because we are acting out our own emotions. Don't make the mistake I made with Jess. I get you are frustrated but that's not the answer. She was disrespectful and she took the consequence for it without argument. It's dealt with and done. "

"Jane she…" Jane held up her hand.

"I don't think she was trying to be disrespectful just now Maura. I think she's trying to talk to us. You know Blaire has never been great at expressing her emotions. Our daughter is trying to communicate with us how she feels. That's a big deal for her. Don't shut her down."

Maura nodded. "Yeah. You're right. OK Jane. I'm sorry."

As Jane and Maura made their way back over to Blaire she was fast to speak as her tears began to fall again.

"I, I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful."

Maura nodded. "I know you weren't Blaire. I'm sorry also. Whatever it is you are trying to tell us, I'm listening."

"Amelia will always be yours but…" Her voice trailed off as she fought with herself.

"Go on Blaire. It's OK. We're listening," Maura reassured.

"I want to tell Amelia the truth."

Blaire tried not to look at the alarm that came across her parents' faces.

"I mean, the truth on a seven year old level. I want her to know I'm her birth mother. I don't want to keep pretending like I'm just her sister. I'm not OK with lying to my little girl. I mean, our little girl," Blaire quickly corrected herself. She didn't want Jane and Maura to think she was trying to take over as Amelia's parent. That wasn't it at all.

"I just want her to know. I don't want her to grow up living a lie. I mean, birth parents and adoptive parents do that all the time don't they?"

Jane looked over at her wife and knew this was not going to be a quick decision. She reached out and grasped Maura's hand. Maura didn't have to say a word for Jane to read her thoughts and fears.

"I'm not saying no Blaire, but is it OK if mom and I have some time to talk about it and then we will get back with you?"

Blaire nodded. "Yes ma'am. I'm sorry I sprung it on you like that."

"It's OK Blaire. There is no need to apologize to us for how you feel. We always want you to come to us, OK?" Blaire nodded.

"Now, would you like to tell me what that altercation with your Uncle Frankie was about?"

"He was asking about Jess's dealer."

Jane and Maura looked at each other, both thinking the same thing.

"That's his job Blaire. People like that need to be taken off the street so they can't hurt people with that stuff."

Before Blaire realized what she was doing she snapped again.

"Don't say that!" Her voice was loud and angry. She quickly rethought her outburst, her still fiery butt reminding her to rethink her tone.

"I'm sorry. People like that though? I was people like that."

Jane could tell there was something her daughter wasn't saying.

"Hey, what is it Blaire?"

"He, he was my boyfriend. I loved him. To you he may be just some drug dealer, but to me, I still love him."

It was Jane's turn to speak without thinking.

"You mean Mr. Grand Theft Auto?"

"Don't ma."

Blaire hesitated for a moment, embarrassed to tell her parents what she was about to tell them."I, I…" Blaire's voice trailed off. She didn't know why she was so nervous. It was over five years ago. She guessed it was because that seemed like a different part of her life and she preferred to pretend it never happened.

"I'm the one that stole that car. I was old enough they were going to try me as an adult. He was only fourteen so he told them I didn't have anything to do with it."

When Jane or Maura didn't respond Blaire quickly continued.

"It's, I wasn't like, going to try to sell it or anything. We were on the streets and it was cold. I knew if we had a car we could sleep in it. The owner had one of those GPS things in it though."

That seemed like a lifetime ago. All of a sudden it hit Blaire that the reason she was so nervous is because she knew if that had happened post Jane and Maura she would have wished for jail by the time her parents were done with her. Speaking of parents they were still silent.

"Ma? Mom?"

Jane finally spoke."Thank you for telling us that Blaire but that was in your past OK? You're different now. You've grown so much. It's only up from here."

Blaire smiled as Jane and Maura sandwiched her between them in a hug.

"Come on B. Let's go enjoy what's left of the party OK?" Maura smiled warmly at her daughter.

Blaire nodded. "I'm sorry mom."

"I accept your apology B. Just work harder on checking that temper OK?"

Blaire nodded. "Yes ma'am."

As Maura and Jane started to walk away Blaire called after Jane.

"Ma?"

Jane turned around and looked at her daughter. "Yeah B?"

"Could I talk to you just for a minute?"

"Sure," Jane said, as she kissed Maura on the cheek and gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "Why don't you go check on Jess and then maybe let Em know the coast is clear." Jane said the last part with a slight grin causing Maura to smile and nod before walking away.

Jane made her way back to Blaire and they walked over to the table and sat down. Jane was the first to speak. "What's on your mind B?"

Blaire's words came out almost shy. "How do you handle the things people say about mom at work? How are you able to control it and not go flying off on someone?"

Jane chuckled.

"B I'm going to be honest with you it's not easy. More times than not I would love nothing more to haul off and punch whichever asshole is talking, but I've learned over the years that it's just words and those words only have the ability to hurt you if you give them the power to. On the days where it bothers me more than it should I go to the gym and take all that built up anger and frustration out on the punching bag or I come home and I talk to mom about it. It has taken me a long time to learn that talking to someone you trust about things that bother you is okay, it doesn't mean you are weak. So B, what I'm trying to say is you can always come to me or mom or any of us, no matter if it's good or bad or if you think we will get upset. We are always here, okay?"

Blaire nodded and then smiled. "Thanks ma."

"Anytime kid, now how about we go enjoy some amazing food and make the rest of today a good day?" Again Blaire nodded before being pulled into a hug.

Meanwhile across the yard, Maura had made her way over to Jess and Kate.

"Is everything okay over here? Jess are you okay?"

Jess looked up and gave the blonde a small smile."I'm okay now mom. I'm sorry I yelled at Uncle Frankie."

Maura smiled before stepping past Kate to hug her daughter. "I'm not okay with the words you said but I'm proud of you for walking away and talking to someone instead of holding it all inside." Maura's words brought a real smile to the redhead's face.

Maura looked over at Kate who was giving her a "can we talk, alone" look which Maura understood because it was similar to the look she used on Jane. "Jess, would you mind checking on Cailin? If she's dressed, tell her to bring herself outside, today is for her after all."

Jess was shocked. "Wait, you're going to let her go outside?"

Maura laughed. "She's been off the chemo for a while and her immune system is a little stronger. She needs to enjoy it while she can. Tell her I said it's OK. Just tell her to try to keep a distance still."

Jess nodded. "Yes ma'am," she said before she went off to check on Cailin.

Once alone Maura looked at Kate and sighed. "Okay Kate, what did Frankie really say because I feel like Blaire didn't tell us everything."

"It seems he called the guy scum. He told Jess he would find out who it was and make sure to lock them up for good, only if the guy didn't give him a reason to put him in the ground first."

Maura nodded, now everything was becoming clear. She understood now why both her daughters yelled at their uncle. Seeing Maura in thought Kate spoke again.

"Don't worry Maura I'll handle Frankie but for now I think we have some celebrating to do."

"You're right," Maura said with a smile.

Just then Angela, Emily, Riley and the littles came out of the main house carrying all kinds of food. The rest of the family began gathering around the large outdoor table. "Looks like everyone is ready to eat. I should probably get the girls while Angela is fending off the hungry clan. I swear I can hear Jane's stomach from here," she said with a laugh as she watched her mother in law swat away both Jane and Frankie's hands.

"You better hurry then, I'm not sure how long Angela will be able to fend them off," Kate says over her shoulder as she makes her way towards the table.

A short while later everyone was gathered around the big table laughing and enjoying a beautiful day and great food. Cailin sat next to Jess with Maddy in her lap who was not so discreetly feeding Jo Friday under the table.

She paused and took a moment to take in the sound of her family. She closed her eyes and just listened to all the laughter and stories and jokes being told. It didn't even matter to her that she was the cause of most of the jokes. This was her family. They had all been there for her in her darkest hours and days. They never gave up hope, they never gave up on her and because of the little girl that sat in her lap she would get to enjoy many more family dinners and celebrations.

Cailin was pulled from her thoughts when Jess gave her leg a reassuring squeeze. She smiled at the redhead as she entwined their hands.

After dinner was over and the mess cleared away everyone settled into their own thing. The littles and Amelia were chasing Jo Friday around the yard laughing uncontrollably when the small dog would trip them up and knock them to the ground before licking their faces. Callie and Adam were sitting on the swings laughing at some kind of video they were watching on Adam's tablet. Maura, Jane and everyone else had gathered back at the table for a card game and by the sounds of it, Frankie was losing horribly.

"No fair!" Frankie complained when Maura beat him for the third time.

Everyone at the table could only laugh.

"I'm gonna grab another beer. Do you guys want anything?" Everyone shook their heads no. Frankie excused himself from the table before heading into the house.

On his way back out Jane watched as Kate stood and pulled her brother away from everyone. She nudged Maura to get her attention. When Maura looked at her confused as to why she was being nudged Jane nodded her head in Frankie and Kate's direction.

She leaned closer to Maura and spoke. "So what do you think they are talking about? You think it could be love?"

Maura chuckled as she watched the interaction between Kate and Frankie.

"I suppose it could be, Frankie is a handsome man and..." Maura was cut off by her wife.

"Nope, I don't want to hear my wife say how handsome my brother is or his sex appeal or anything along those lines. It's gag worthy and it's just no." Maura couldn't help the laugh that escaped.

"The only Rizzoli I have eyes for is you Jane" Jane cracked a grin. "Damn right, but seriously, what do you think they are talking about?"

As soon as that question left her mouth Kate smacked Frankie behind the head and Jane doubled over in laughter before calling out to her sister n' law.

"Uh Kate,I don't think that's what they meant when they talk about hitting on people of the opposite sex. I mean I could be wrong but I don't think they meant it literally."

Kate couldn't help but laugh as well. "Hey you never know, it could be what they meant. I was just telling Frankie how he should think before he speaks."

"Telling him or showing him?" Jane remarked with a chuckle.

"Yeah, yeah laugh it up Janie, that actually stung by the way," he says looking over at Kate who just shrugs taking her seat at the table.

"I learned it to be very effective in getting one's point across, you can thank my old boss for that one," Kate says as smiles over her beer at Frankie.

Frankie cleared his throat, it would seem Kate's smile had the same effect on him as Maura's did on Jane. "I actually owe an apology to you Blaire and you Jess. I was insensitive, I feel bad for what I said. Just know it came from a place of love. You girls are important to me."

Both Blaire and Jess stood up and hugged their uncle tightly.

"Does that mean you forgive me?" He asked, hugging them back.

Blaire looked at him with a straight face. "Don't push it." Frankies eyes went wide before Blaire cracked a grin and laughed.

"Yup, Jane they definitely take after you."

Jane waved off Frankies comment. "Are we going to get back to our game so we can all watch Maura kick your ass again and possibly make you cry?"

Everyone at the table tried but failed to stiffel their laughter. Frankie mocked laughter before sitting back down. As late afternoon turned to night Frankie lost more times than Jane could count on one hand. Stomachs hurt from all the laughter, goodbyes and hugs were shared and kids were rounded up for baths and bedtime stories. It didn't take long for the once loud house to fall silent.

Jane and Maura shared i love you's and sweet kisses before falling asleep in each other's arms. Riley and Emily sat outside for a while enjoying the quietness and time alone before heading to bed themselves.

Jess laid awake in bed, Cailin in her arms, snuggled in close. Jess tried but failed to fall asleep. Her mind had played over the events of the day. She smiled into the darkness as the thoughts of Cailin having a match worked their way through her mind.

Everything would in fact be okay, she thought to herself before gently kissing Cailin's cheek before carefully extracting herself from the bed. She headed outside to keep from waking her girlfriend, hoping to be alone with her thoughts but to her surprise Blaire was sitting alone looking up at the sky.

Jess made her way over to her sister and sat down next to her. "So," she says trying to hide her grin. "Mom got you with the belt pretty good didn't she?"

Blaire shook her head as a smile crossed her face. "Shut up Jess, that shit really hurt. Who would've thought mom had an arm like that? I would much rather deal with ma!"

Jess couldn't help but chuckle. "I guess those lessons ma gave to mom years ago on how to swing a bat paid off."

Blaire scoffed and playfully shoved her sister. "Well I won't be giving either one of them a reason to do that again," Blaire remarked.

Silence fell between them before they both started laughing.

"Yeah, me either," Jess agreed.

"I guess at the end of the day we have to be thankful that we are lucky enough to have parents that care, something at one point neither of us had." Jess looked out across the yard and Blaire rested her head on sisters shoulder.

"Yeah, your right. We are pretty lucky."

The girls sat outside for over an hour talking and laughing as they pointed out different things in the nighttime clouds, something they hadn't done in a long time. They decided to call it a night shortly before 1 AM. Jess made her way back inside and slid comfortably back into the bed. Cailin immediately accommodated her before wrapping her arms tightly around the redhead. Jess was asleep in no time at all.
