Rose checked on the roast one more time before heading upstairs to the change. As she walked past the mantle, she glanced at the clock to see that it was six and Scorpius should be home by now. They had exchanged letters while he was in New York about the dinner for their parents. He told her that he would be home Friday and it was Saturday, and he still wasn't home. She knew that he was in the country when he wrote her last night and told her. She wrote back to tell him when he should be home. She still hasn't seen him yet.

Rose had changed and headed downstairs to see that she only had a half an hour before her parents and in-laws showed up. She checked on the roast one more time and glanced at the back door looking for her husband. She still didn't see him.

There was a pop in the distance and Rose hoped it was her husband. Rose saw that it was her parents making their way to the door. Rose plastered a smile on her face as she opened the door to them. She hugged both of her parents before entering the house. She didn't have to wait long before the Malfoys showed up with a bottle of wine.

Rose glanced at the door before pulling out the roast. She saw her parents and in-law trade a look; they knew that she was looking for Scorpius because they didn't see him anywhere. Rose got the food ready before setting it on the table. Rose took a breath before asking the parents to sit at the table. The parents sat across from each other leaving the ends of the table open. Rose sat down at one of the ends.

Rose watched as the parents filled their plates with food and their glasses with the wine that the Malfoys had brought. Rose put food on her plate because she is eating for two and refused the wine. Rose watched as her mother and Astoria traded looks. She looked across the table to see that it was still empty. She knew that they would know when Scorpius came home. The parents were talking among themselves. Rose heard that they were talking about work and next year Hermione running for Minster of Magic. Rose was glad that they were getting along. She had hoped that Scorpius would be here for this. She glanced at the door, hoping that Scorpius was only running late. Rose really wanted to tell them the good news, but she wanted the father of her child to be here too.

The food was almost gone when they finally looked at her. "Rose, you and Scorpius are the ones that wanted this dinner," Hermione said. "As much as I love to see Draco and Astoria is there a reason you wanted this dinner?"

"Scorpius and I wanted to let you that you are going to be grandparents," Rose choked out. "Excuse me," She ran from the house.

Rose found a seat on the bench that was by the backdoor. She wiped her face as the tears fell. She hated that she had to do that alone. She wanted Scorpius to be there. This was his baby, too. He seemed so happy about this baby and Rose wanted their parents to see how happy they were about the baby. She knew that they are happy about the baby. She didn't stay around to see how they were reacting to the news.

Rose felt someone sitting next to her. She knew it was her mum right away. She could smell her mum's perfume. Hermione put an arm around her shoulder. Rose took the moment to lean against her mother. It was moments like this when her mother just held her that made Rose would feel better. Rose didn't know if she could feel better after this.

"I'm happy that you are going to have a baby," Hermione said in Rose's ear. "But where is Scorpius?"

"Probably at the office," Rose mumbled into her mum's shirt.

"And why is he at the office?" Hermione asked.

"I don't know. We plan all this while he was in New York. He told me that he was in the country yesterday. I thought that he would want to be home for this. His own father is here, the owner of the company, but Scorpius is not. I sent him a reminder that we had this plan for tonight. I know that he is happy about the baby," Rose cried.

Hermione didn't like that her daughter was hurting. It wasn't good for her or the baby. She felt that there was more going on. Hermione hasn't seen her son-in-law in a while. She wanted to tell Rose what to do when she saw her daughter at the last family dinner, but Rose was her own woman and would have to figure things out herself or ask for advise from someone. Hermione thought that she might have talked to one of her older cousins, who were married. Hermione could tell that Rose was getting closer to Vic and Dom. If Rose had talked to them, Hermione felt that they wouldn't be sitting here right now, and her daughter wouldn't be crying.

"Can I ask what is going on?" Hermione wanted to help her daughter.

Rose pulled away from her mother and wiped her face. Rose told her that after the honeymoon she rarely saw her husband. She was at home by herself most of the time. When she found out that she pregnant, she had planned this wonderful dinner for them, and she wrote him a note telling him that he should be home early. He never showed up. He found out and she thought that everything was good because he was home more and happy about the baby. Until two weeks ago, when he started to work late again. Rose told her mother that she hasn't seen her husband since he left for New York.

"Do you still love Scorpius?" Hermione asked. She hated that she had to ask that question to her daughter.

"Yes," Rose closed her eyes. "I love him so much that it hurts."

"I think that Scorpius might need a wake-up call," Hermione said. "Have tired talking to him?"

"When? I never see him," Rose threw by her hands.

"Rose, I know that you are strong, brave, and smart. You will find away. I only want you to be happy and if that means you leave Scorpius than you do," Hermione placed a hand on Rose's stomach. "You also have another person to think about now." Hermione kissed the side of her head before getting up and going back in the house.

Rose sat there and thought about what her mother said. She was probably right. Rose couldn't live this way anymore. It wasn't just her anymore. She had a child to think about. Rose didn't want to raise her child in this environment where their father was never home. Would Scorpius even be there for the birth of their child. Rose wanted their child to have a happy childhood and if that meant leaving Scorpius she would. Rose knew that she would always love Scorpius no matter what happen, but she couldn't live like this.

Rose got up and headed back in the house. She saw that they had cleaned up the kitchen. She thanked them. Astoria was the first one to hug her and congratulate her on the baby. Rose could tell that Astoria was happy about being a grandmother. Draco came and hugged her next. It was a hug to reassure that they were there for her. Her dad was last, and his hug was more comfort than anything else. Rose knew that he would protect her if he could. Rose knew that her father would drag Scorpius home if she would let him.

The Malfoys left soon after that. Her parents spoke words with just a look. Ron was the first to leave. Hermione hugged her daughter. "Remember who you are, and you will always have a place with us," Hermione whispered the words to her daughter. Hermione gripped Rose one more time before leaving.

Rose went upstairs to pack a bag because Scorpius needed to see what he was doing to her.

Scorpius came in to see the sitting room light on. He dropped his bag at the back door before making his way to the sitting room. He wondered why Rose was up this late. He knew that she is getting tired more now that she pregnant. Scorpius glanced at the clock to see that it was after midnight.

He found Rose sitting on the couch with her eyes closed. He wondered if she fell asleep while she was waiting for him to come home. Scorpius made his way around the coffee table and sat on the couch next to her. He leaned over and kissed her lips to wake her up. Rose woke but pulled away from him.

"So, this is what you look like," Rose hissed. Scorpius looked in her eyes to see that she angry at him for some reason. He tried to think what he did to deserve her anger. It took him a moment, but he realized that he had missed dinner tonight with their parents where they were going to tell them about the baby.

Scorpius ran his hand through his hair. "Rose, I'm so sorry about missing tonight," He reached for her, but Rose pulled back. She stood up from the couch.

Rose started to pace before the fireplace and Scorpius saw the bag by the fireplace. He started to feel something bad was going to happen. He heard Rose sigh. He looked at his wife and took a breath.

"Scorpius, it hasn't just been tonight. It has been a long time coming. It started when you started at your family's company. I never see you anymore. I don't want to live like this anymore. If you are going to work all the time I'm done. I have asked you to come home early so we could spend time together. You never show up. I wrote to you about wanting you to come home for dinner so I could tell you about the baby, but you don't show up. I thought that it would change once you knew about the baby. I guess that it is not true. This night was the night we were going to tell our parents about the baby, together." Rose took a breath.

"I am not going to live like this. I am not going to raise my baby in this environment where their father is never around. I won't keep you from our child, but I want them to know you. Maybe one day you realize what you are missing. I will always love you, Scorpius, but I can't live like I'm an afterthought. And I don't want that for my child. Goodbye Scorpius," Rose picked up the bag, called out her parents' place, and walked in the fireplace.

Scorpius stared at the fireplace, waiting for Rose to come back. He didn't know how long he stared at the fireplace, waiting to see Rose' face. He never thought that Rose would leave him. He thought that their love was enough for her. He would give her everything to keep her here. She was pregnant with their child and had left him. He didn't know what he was going to do now.

He did know one thing…he wanted his wife back.
