New Paths to Follow
Chapter 29th
Reaching the damaged area of engineering. With Chief Sharkey on the scene leaving a crew in the reactor room. Chief Francis Sharkey was shoring up the bulkhead with damage control after closing off the hatchway with the flooding inside and the death of five crew members and six injuries having been pulled out.
Running out of breath down the corridor. Captain Chip Morton needed the answers as to what exactly happened. Chief Sharkey getting down by brushing off the dirt from his uniform.
"What the hell happened Chief?" Morton asks with a tone that Sharkey didn't like at all.
"It was some sort of a bomb Captain that no one didn't realize it until it was too late with the six killed, even though we were lucky to get the others out to sickbay.
"Do we know who might have planted it Chief?" Chip commented with Colonel Baskins checking around the corridor.
"I don't have a clue Captain. But I will start an investigation and I will let you know if and when I have any answers?" he cried out with leaving the area to head back to the reactor room.
"It just doesn't make any sense right now as to why someone would want to stop us heading for ICELAND?" Captain Morton needed to say to Colonel Baskins.
Turning around to face Captain Morton. "Maybe it has something to do with Commander Crane having to be at Hanger 18 to gather up the Crystallines and with bringing them back to the Nelson Institute?" Colonel Baskins quipped.
"Maybe! I just hope to god there is no further trouble with this second rescue mission. I get the feeling that someone doesn't want us to be successful with rescuing the Crystallines at the second site?" Morton started to walk away to head for his quarters to change into his uniform to head back to the Control room and find out where they were exactly.
Finally, Admiral Nelson and his friends had arrived at the council chamber to meet up with the president of the council with answers. Nelson walked over to all of them at the round table sitting waiting...
"I have your serum that will save your population and changing them back to normal again. However, your labs will have to work hard to produce the large scale of the serum that had been modified." Nelson said with a round of thanks from the council and the president.
"How long do you think it will begin to work Admiral Nelson?" the president had to ask with his curiosity kicking in.
"Between 24 to 38 hours depending on each of the population's metabolism. We can start here with injecting the one dosage with yourself and the council?" Nelson needed to say to them.
"Very well let's do this now before I change my mind as with the council." they had agreed with the bob of their heads.
Moving to another table. Admiral Nelson brought over the large container housing the serums in different syringes to be used on the president and the council.
Nelson's wife Syrian was going to help with injecting each of the council members, while Nelson readied the first shot for the president by raising his cuffs on the purple gown he was wearing. "This won't hurt Mr. president. But there is going to be a slight flush in your face as a side effect. Afterward, you're able to go about your work?" Nelson said by injecting the serum into his right arm.
Smiling. 'Thank you, Admiral Nelson, for all of your help.
"I notice that you're been getting some of your population of the planet before using the nuclear weapons in the atmosphere to see if the orbit can be changed back towards the sun?" Nelson said to the president and council with worried looks on their faces.
"We are even though we don't have enough space vehicles to get all of them off the planet. There has been large-scale violence going on in this city and others, along with the water worlds as well."
"I am sorry Mr. President. When is the blast going to happen?" Nelson had to say the importance of the question.
"Three days. The space authority is currently working on placing the nuclear missiles into orbit sitting the timers at Space Control. The council and I along with our families having our own private space vessels will be taking off eight hours prior to Admiral Nelson."
"Don't you think that you're cutting it close?" Nelson had to say with scratching the back of his head.
"We have no choice Admiral with this planet getting further and further away from the sun. Temperatures started to drop all over the planet and there have been widespread major quakes with three of four of the water cities have lost a number of the population from the quakes. There is nothing we can do at this time?" he said in despair with his tone of voice. "Otherwise were you able to check with your own science personnel on whether the bomb blasts will help the planet enter back into orbit?" he moved over to a smaller table to offer the group anything to drink for which all of them agree as with the types of food sitting on the table.
"Actually I have talked with them and they seem to think it's going to work for the most part. We can watch from out into space at a location in order to take readings of the shift of the planet's orbital shift." Admiral Nelson needed to say to everyone in the council room. "And if this doesn't work then whoever is lift on the planet will differently be killed from the speed of the planet rotation or dying from being frozen to death with moving away from the sun." This intel scared the hell out of everyone eating or drinking their foods.
