Sigyn sat on Loki's side of the bed, tears streaming down her face as she flipped through the notebook she'd given him, what seemed like an eon ago, to write all the things he had that were worth living for. That wasn't the only thing he'd put in the notebook, of course, but it was the predominate thing in there. She stared at the last page in the book, her heart aching from weeping so long.

I'm pretty sure Sigyn's pregnant

She had been pregnant, at that, point, actually. He'd been the first to guess, even before she, herself, but he'd learned better than to assume she was. She just wished she'd been able to tell him. That was the last sentence he'd written. She held back another sob, gently closing the book, and flopping onto the pillows. She felt herself just drifting off, when there was a ring on the doorbell. She pulled Loki's pillow over her head. (Just like he'd used to, pretty much every morning she tried to wake him) She didn't want to talk to people. She wanted Loki back.

Ring.

She didn't want to answer the door, she wanted another chance. She shouldn't have pressured him into going. She should've known it wasn't safe.

Ring.

She should've been more present. More there for him. His heart had been breaking, and she just pushed him out the door. To his doom.

Ring.

Gee, this guy sure was persistent. If it was Tony… She'd do nothing at all. She just wanted to lay there forever, until she could join her beloved in Valhalla.

Ring.

"Oh for the love of…" She grumbled, stomping her way out to the door, grumbling about politeness and prudence, and how annoying all the Avengers were, separately, and as a unit.

Ring.

"Alright, already!" She yanked the door open. "I'm…" She stopped in her tracks.

"Hi, Mama…" Vali smiled nervously up at her. He looked exhausted, and he was covered in blood. But not his own. It was red, where his was a dark purple, halfway between Vanir red and Jotun black.

"What are you doing, here, sweetie?" She gasped. "Here, come in!"

Vali shook his head, glancing at something to his left. "Um… I need help."

"What happened?" Sigyn asked, quickly checking him for injuries. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I am…" Vali admitted. "I don't need anything more than a nap. But Father…"

"What?!" Sigyn cupped his cheeks, forcing him to look up at her. "What are you talking about? Thor told you what happened to him, right?"

Vali silently pointed to his left. Sigyn glanced over, to see… Loki. Soaked in blood, and leaning against the wall of the house as if he had absolutely no bones at all, but alive. Awake, even. He gave her a pain-filled smile, his eyes struggling to focus on her face. "Hey…" He breathed.

"What?!" Sigyn threaded her fingers into her unkempt hair. "I've gone mad…"

"Haven't we all?" Vali agreed, blinking sleepily. "I think I can fix him, if I have… a relatively thick needle, three metric tons of antiseptics, to be safe, some silk thread…"

Sigyn didn't listen to the long list of things Vali would need, Instead, helping Loki get to his feet. "Ow, Sigyn." Loki grunted in pain, screwing his eyes shut. "Ow, ow, ow, ow…"

"Shhh…" Sigyn soothed. "It'll be okay." She scooped up his legs from under him, and carried him into the house, and laid him on the dining room table. "Alright, Va. All yours."

Vali immediately ran into the kitchen, and almost immediately after, he ran right back in with a pair of scissors. "What are you doing?"

Vali didn't answer, just went up to Loki, whose eyes were squeezed shut, a small trickle of blood coming from his mouth. Vali started effectively cutting the leather coat off of his body. "Hey!" Loki protested. "That's…"

"Not worth your life." Vali corrected quickly. "You're not dying for an outfit on my watch."

Vali cut all the clothes off of the top half of Loki body. It was bit difficult, as some of the blood had begun drying, and was caked to the wound. As soon as his shirt came off, revealing the deep, ugly wound, dripping blood onto the table, Sigyn clapped a hand over her mouth and ran out of the room. She hovered near the door, not sure whether to go in, and try to help, or go hide under the bed like a small child. She clapped her hands over her ears as her husband groaned in pain as Vali began quickly, and efficiently cleaning the wound.

"Can't you knock him out?" Sigyn asked, nervously walking over to the small boy. "Does he have to suffer?"

Vali glanced up, only barely. "Do you know… how many times… I had to defibrillate him?" He asked wearily.

"Um… no…"

"Twelve." He said grimly. "Twenty solid minutes of chest compressions, another ten of mouth to mouth resuscitation, and twelve defibrillations. Twelve. If it's all the same to you, I don't want to risk his heart stopping while he's sedated. It's easier to keep him alive if he's awake. As much as I don't like him hurting, I'm too tired to summon another shock. Have you got a needle, and some clean, but strong thread?"

Loki was listening with a distant interest to Vali's monologue, and it had been distracting him from his agony. "Va…" He spoke up. "Keep… talking?"

Vali glanced up again, busily sterilizing the needle Sigyn'd given him. "Nice weather we're having, isn't it?"

Sigyn and Loki both cracked up, but Loki immediately hissed in the pain that the movement caused. He caught his breath, and closed his eyes, slowly slipping towards unconsciousness. "Wake him up, Mama!" Vali ordered.

She sat at the head of the table, slipping her fingers into his dark, damp hair. "Loki, you have to stay awake."

"Tired…" He murmured. "Hurts…"

"I know, but I don't know anything about medicine." Sigyn insisted.

Loki glanced up at her in confusion. "So?"

"So, you're the only one, here, who would be able to stop Vali from putting your liver in upside down!"

Vali snorted softly, quickly, but gently sewing up the wound on Loki's front.

"He'd do it… to spite me." Loki predicted.

"You don't let me have enough cookies." Vali shrugged. "Have to get back at you, somehow."

Loki smiled softly. "Stop… making me… laugh… hurts…"

They were quiet for a short while, until Vali lifted Loki up with his red sedir, rolling him over so that he could sew up his back. The sword had gone clean through his body. Sigyn gagged, and fixed her eyes on Loki's pale, pinched face.

"Alright…" He's done…" Vali finally announced. "But… he has maybe two teaspoons of blood left in him. I don't… where would we find blood for him on such short notice?"

Loki seemed to be trying to say something, but was too weak.

"It's not actually only two teaspoons, right?" Sigyn asked nervously.

"No, not really." Vali yawned. "I guess I'll have to do."

"You have the same blood type?" Sigyn asked.

Vali shrugged. "I can alter it, with my sedir." He took a deep breath, and grasped Loki's hand. Their auras swirled together, red and green, and after a few minutes, Vali collapsed backward onto the floor, his eyes rolling up into his head.

"Vali!" Sigyn jumped up in concern, but Vali waved a dismissive hand at her. "M okay… I'm 'onna… I'mma…" He crawled over to the couch in the living room, curling up into a ball, and fell asleep almost instantly. Sigyn covered him in a blanket, and returned to Loki, who was unconscious on the table. She picked him up, and gently carried him back to their bedroom.

It wasn't long before she, also, collapsed from exhaustion.

Yep.

The next chapter is just so hilarious, I'mma post it today, too.
