Chapter 23. Something Crazy.

EXT. DOCKS/OPEN SEA - DAY

[Broken-down catapults and trebuchets are bundled up and lowered from the cliffs. Below on the docks, Vikings load the heavy artillery into the hulls of awaiting ships. Children and the elderly gather on the walkways to wave apprehensive farewells to the departing warriors.]

[Lastly, Toothless is loaded aboard Stoick's ship, chained down to a palette, muzzled, and restrained with a weighty neck ring.]

Most of Everyone in the room including Hiccup all glares intensely at the Vikings mostly The others Are glaring at Stoick as Hiccup and Astrid both snuggling into Toothless.

I'm sorry bud, I should have tried harder to save you... It's all my fault. " He said sadly. And Astrid told him it's not his fault.

Ssshhh, Not your fault babe. " Astrid said before Pecking him on the cheek as Toothless growled deeply at the vikings who caused him so much pain before returning to his human and his Human's mate, he crooned sadly and Telepathically told Hiccup that he was forgiven, Hiccup smiled as the trio continued watching.

STOICK: Set sail! We head for Helheim's Gate.

Hiccup and Astrid walked back into the room, followed by Toothless Astrid holding Hiccup's hand tightly as they sat down. Val walked towards them to greet her son who entered the barrier within the Dragons section of the row of seats and wrapped an arm tightly around her son, and Toothless placed his head on Hiccup's lap.

[He then notices HICCUP watching from his familiar cliff-side perch beyond the village. Their eyes meet, full of hurt and regret. Hiccup slowly shakes his head in warning. Stoick breaks the stare and turns to Toothless, fuming.]

STOICK: (CONT'D) Lead us home, Devil.

HE IS NOT A DEVIL! " Yelled the teens. Sitting with the dragons near Hiccstrid, Valka heard them and was proud.

ON HICCUP

[Watching. He's powerless to stop what is happening, but won't leave.]

Silence. Nobody said anything. Nothing could describe what had just happened. Astrid walked over to Hiccup, his face streaked with tears. She hugged him, just wishing for today to be over.

Stoick closed his eyes, wishing he had never done that. He was a fool to try to go to the queen's nest. But there was something bothering him. He walked to the edge of the barrier, unable to cross, and whispered,

Why? " Stoick asked

Hiccup lifted his head, wet on his face.

What?" he croaked. Stoick repeated, " Why? I never listened to you, I never took notice of you." He said.

Hiccup crawled to his feet, thinking. He finally said.

I just couldn't let you go there. It's just Like with The MUTOS and GODZILLA it would be death for everyone but not much worse than that scenario. " He shuffled his feet, continuing. " And, you are all I have left. When we all thought Mom died when I was a baby, Toothless was as good as dead, and the rest of the village never liked me. I didn't want to lose my father too. " There was no venom in his voice as he spoke, just the quiet, honest truth.

Stoick murmured, " I'm sorry. " He sat back down, tears threatening to spill down his cheeks. After a moment's hesitation, Hiccup sat with Astrid and Valka, his face showing no emotion.

DISSOLVE TO: EXT. CLIFFS - LATER ON HICCUP

[Still standing there. The ships have cleared the horizon.]

I have a theory! " Jack says.

Jack, now is not the time mate. " Bunnymun says.

Okay fine. I was just going to say that it seems Stoick is jealous that his son has a closer relationship with their so-called enemies than with himself. " Jack Pointed out.

Excellent point there Jack but I'm sure everyone would like to go back to the movie. " I said.

[CRANE UP to reveal Astrid is standing behind him. She approaches cautiously and stands beside him in silence.]

Astrid leans forward slightly, curious as to what she could be doing- she could not deny she was growing fonder of the reptile sat around her- ahem- boyfriend. Yes she, Astrid Hofferson, had a boyfriend.Hiccup doesn't respond.

ASTRID: It's a mess.

Is she doing what I think she's doing? " asked Eugene while Hiccup turned to Astrid with an indignant look on his face.

Great way to state the obvious." Snotlout snorts.

No no." Rapunzel starts." This is the start of the inspiring speech that will cause the hero to realize what he has helped do and that he needs to figure out how to fix it! " She Exclaimed.

Everyone stares at Rapunzel in shock, confusion, and a varying of other emotions.

What? If you spend your whole life rereading the same three books you have a lot of time to study literary elements and such. " Rapunzel Pout.

ASTRID: (CONT'D) You must feel horrible. You've lost everything. Your father, your tribe, your best friend.

The teens around Astrid facepalmed at her choice of words as she blushed.

Are you trying to make him feel WORSE? " asked Anna incredulously.

NO! " Astrid Blushed hard, feeling Embarrassed as she buried her face on Hiccup's chest, struggling to laugh.

HICCUP: Thank you for summing that up.

Gloomy emotions aside I wish to nominate Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third for the King of Sarcasm." Eugene states. However before it can be put to a vote I turn to him and explain that they can not vote on this until the other movies have been watched, but I do start a list for the nominees on a new chalkboard.

HICCUP: (CONT'D) Why couldn't I have killed that dragon when I found him in the woods. It would have been better for everyone.

I know why. " Everyone turned to Gobber as he spoke for the first time in a while. He scratched his long blonde moustache, sighing. " When 'hat lad shot down the dragon and went after it, I saw the look on his face. Just as Hiccup was 'bout to kill it, it gave him the same look I see on his face every time someone would yell at 'im. Struggle a little at first, but then accept that you are finished no matter wha' you do. " Gobber paused for a second. " The Night Fury looked exactly like Hiccup. " The audience nods, understanding Gobber's words. It was true.

ASTRID: Yep. The rest of us would have done it. (BEAT) So why didn't you?

Yup. She is. " deadpanned Eugene.

[Hiccup shakes his head, uncertain. Astrid waits, clearly wanting an explanation.]

ASTRID: Why didn't you?

HICCUP: I don't know. I couldn't.

That's not an answer. " Astrid tells the Hiccup who was cuddling next to her.

ASTRID: That's not an answer.

HICCUP: (becoming defensive)- Why is this important to you all of a sudden?

ASTRID: Because I want to remember what you say.

Oh, for the love of- " Hiccup started.

HICCUP: Oh for the love of-! I was a coward. I was weak. I wouldn't kill a dragon!

ASTRID: You said wouldn't that time.

HICCUP: (blows up) Whatever! I wouldn't! Three hundred years and I'm the first Viking who wouldn't kill a dragon!

Not so, son. Not so. " Stoick thought, the memory of Val still ringing in his ears and said wife looked in his direction.

And as for Everyone they all look at present Hiccup, Toothless, future Hiccup, and back at present Hiccup and Toothless.

As for Merida, Kristoff and Jack all said.

Yer not a coward." Merida said.

I'd say you were one of the bravest people I've ever met." Kristoff told him.

Yeah It takes a lot of guts to fly. " Jack added.

If I was You I'd die having a dragon." Hiro said.

[A BEAT.]

ASTRID: First to ride one, though.

Hiccup perked up at that. A few of the smaller Terrible Terrors crawled into his lap, and curled up there. Hiccup smiled and put his arm around Astrid, and pulled her close. She put her head on his shoulder.

Though Valka smiled knowing Hiccup wasn't the first to Ride one and snorted At This.

Only if you knew Hicc. " I thought, smirking.

[Hiccup blinks. He never looked at it that way before]

All the vikings sit back and try to wrap their mind around what had just been said.

ASTRID: (CONT'D) So…

...Why didn't you kill him? " present astrid asks in her mind.

HICCUP: (REALIZING) ...I wouldn't kill him because he looked as frightened as I was.

Almost everyone in the theater is shocked.

HICCUP: I looked at him and I saw myself.

The words slowly leak into the Viking's thick skulls and flow into the Dragon's open minds as they realise just how much that sentence means. They share a strong bond, unbreakable. They are like father and son, brother and brother. They protect each other and care for one another- their worst sort of torture is the other being harmed in any way. They love each other. Toothless cares for Hiccup like nobody in the Village ever did, Toothless is Hiccup's family, his life and his pride. Hiccup opened Toothless' mind to wondrous things outside serving the Queen. Hiccup became Toothless' world and most importantly, his hatchling. The two care for each other like nobody has ever seen. If one is harmed, so is the other.

Only then do the vikings realise just how much Hiccup cares for Toothless, only then do they realise just how blind they've been.

As for Gobber looked up triumphantly.

ASTRID: (prompting)- I bet he's really frightened now.

Is she doin' what I think she's doin'? " Merida asks.

ASTRID: (PROVOKING) What are you going to do about it?

Yep. she is. " Merida says, answering her own question.

HICCUP: Probably something stupid.

The Vikings chuckle. Leave it to Hiccup to think of a plan so insane that it might actually work as for Kristoff.

Okay not the best plan but… " Kristoff starts to say.

Rapunzel rolled her eyes. " Already done that. " She snorted at this.

[Astrid nods, smiling.]

ASTRID: Good, but you've already done that.

HICCUP: (realizing)- Then something crazy.

Tadashi covered his face. " Oh no. " He muttered under his hands.

That's a worse idea, but you could probably pull it off. " Kristoff finishes.

Though Astrid only grins at Hiccup's newfound confidence.

[He runs off, a new idea planted into his head. Astrid's smile grows bigger.]

ASTRID: That's more like it.

Dear Gods. " Stoick says, mumbling into his hands but he snapped out of it as The Vikings cheered. Stoick looked at his people in shock.

Were they actually wanting Dragons around? " He thought Again he caught the sight of two dragons, A Rumblehorn and a Thunderdrum, both were Eying him sadly.
