-Chapter 29-Two more grandmas arriving-

-Shelby pov-

Yesterday was a awkward day for a bit. It was good once tensions started to fizzle out. Mom even laughed with Judy for a while. But now it's today.

There's snow falling and someone at the door. Every step I take toward it makes me feel uneasy. Mom doesn't know Mike died a few years back. I believe it was lung cancer that put him under.

She also doesn't know a few other things. I take a deep breath as I unlock the front door. It sounds like to people are chatting outside it. I slowly open it and my eyes go wide.

This is not gonna end well.

"Shelby!" Diana smiles as she pulls me into a hug "It's been so long! You look so lovely!"

"Thank you" She pulls away and I step aside "Why..why don't you to come on in? I bet it's cold out there!"

"There's a nice spot in hell" Shit "Bet your husband has the biggest throne there"

"Ahh" Diana gives a fake smile to my mom "It's the drug whore! You finally get up off the corner?"

"I've been sober for a while now" Moms face goes dark "I have also learned how to fight a bitch if need be"

"Hey!" Elaine steps in between them "I do not want anything between you two! Mikes dead and neither of you have him! Get the fuck over it and enjoy the holidays!"

"Mike died?" My brain is still processing what Elaine said "When?"

"Oh cause you care" Elaine fixes Diana with a glare and Diana rolls her eyes "A few years back from lung cancer"

Mom blinks a few times "Wow" all the anger is gone and she looks almost relieved "I..I didn't know"

"You never tried to know!" Mom looks away from Diana "Why are you even here? I was Shelby's mom more than you were"

"I asked her here actually" I look over and see Judy rubbing her temples "I sent her a email and told her Shelby lived in Lima! It was meant to be a good surprise! WHY THE HELL CAN YOU TWO NOT GROW UP?!"

"I've asked that for years" Elaine shakes her head "The answer is the both 'liked' Mike and did 'not' like each other"

"Hey!" Diana smacks Elaines shoulder "I was not a lesbian! You take that back right now! I mean not that there is anything wrong with being a lesbian"

Mom doesn't look at anyone of us "I am gonna go to my room" She turns and slowly makes her way to the stairs "Maybe I should collect my things"

"Good idea" I go to speak but Diana continues "Make it quicker and do not forget to grab your crackpipe!"

"How could you?!" I push past her and follow after my mom "Hang on mom!"

"Dont" I stop on the stairs and see tears in her eyes "It will be fine...I will see you all before I go ok?"

"Yeah" I step back down the stairs "Ok"

-Time skip-

"SHE IS GONE!" We all look up from the tv at a scared Brittany "Alice left!"

"No she didn't" Diana looks back at the tv "She said she would talk before going"

"She said that before leaving me years ago" Diana looks at me and I stand up "I'll get my keys"

"It's like a blizzard out there!" Diana follows me as I walk for my keys "You have not been around Lima in a long time!"

"My mom came back and you ran her out!" I push my finger into her chest angrily "I am going out there to get my mom!"

"You have a baby girl and Rachel" She takes my keys "I'm going to get the stubborn girl..it's my fault"

"She drives a blue Chevy car" I sigh and go on "The right door is rusted and it looks like a car a very poor person could afford...please be smart about this"

"I will" She gives me a big hug "I'll get her back for u..you"

I smile and hug her back "I know you will" We pull apart and I give her a nod "Go get my momma"

-Time skip-Diana pov-

It's been miserable trying to see. My vehicle has swerved so much. I try my best to stop the newest swerve. I just wanna find the one that got away.

Elaine wasn't wrong about us. We all three were close back in the day. We were Lima royalty. But then things changed.

I focused on popularity with Elaine. Alice always hated it but didn't stop us. She tried to rebel and did some bad things. Her excuses were always the worst.

When I started dating Mike a switch seemed to flip. She was always trying to take him away. I always stayed back and watched. I guess I was more so letting her try.

I wanted her to prove she wanted me. But in our day that wasn't really ok. Now for sure it's more ok to be gay. But when we were in school..we would've been beat.

Elaine is as straight as they come. Mike always knew I wanted Alice too. He always told me I was being stubborn. He tried to divorce me a few times.

I ended up pregnant with my bastard child though. I have never regretted being a mom as much as I do being Russels. He's a little coward that deserves nothing good. Mike made sure he got nothing when he died.

Elaine has been there beside me the whole way. Judy thankfully sent me a email. I hadn't seen my granddaughters in so long. They have grown into wonderful women.

I was surprised to find out about Shelby being with them though. I guess the apple didn't fall too far from the rainbow. But everyone seems to be happy. Everyone except me and Alice.

I stop the car when I finally see the blue Chevy.

"Homeless shelter" I sigh and put my gloves on "This will be fun"

I get out of the vehicle and lock the doors. I slowly make my way up to the shelter. The snow is still coming down hard and fast. I hope we are able to leave after I get her.

I walk inside and look around. This place looks so run down. I walk slowly toward the desk lady. I hope she can help me.

"Uhh hello?" She looks at me clearly confused "Did one of our residents destroy something? You just seem...out of place"

"No im looking for someone" I pull out a picture I've had on me and turn it toward her "Alice Corcoran"

"She's in the dining hall" The lady gives a small smile "I hope you're here to give her a chance! She's one of the greatest people we've had here! She's so helpful and donates any money she gets to help..it's not much hand we try to let her keep it"

"But she's stubborn" I smile and the lady nods "That is Alice for ya"

She smiles and points toward double doors "I believe she is still in there" She looks at me "Good luck!"

"Thank you" I take a deep breath and turn toward the doors "Here goes nothing"

I walk to the double doors and open them. The dining hall looks better than the entry place. I look around trying to find my girl. My hunt ends when a guy walks up to me.

"You come for Alice?" I nod and he motions me to follow "Shes behind the counter"

"Thank you" He nods and I follow him "Is everyone here homeless?"

"No" He points at a table that has a family with kids "Sometimes the needy come too! I've stuck around to make sure everyone still gets taken care of"

"You're a good man" He gives me a smile and we stop by a door "This lead to the kitchen?"

"Yes mam" He turns around and starts walking away "Give her a good life ok?"

"I will!" I turn toward the door and open it "Alice?!"

My brunette turns quickly and shocked "D?" She drops the spoon and looks at the exit "I-how-what are you doing here?"

"To apologize and bring you home" I slowly walk toward her "I said things I should not have! Elaine is right! We have ignored our feelings for so long! I'm not saying we just become a couple..I'm asking you to please give me a chance! A chance to show you I've changed!"

"I have to finish this round of people" I frown and Alice holds out a apron "You could help me"

"Feed the homeless and needy?" She nods "I don't know"

"You say you've changed" She shoves the apron into my chest "You prove it and then maybe! Just maybe! I will give you a possible fair chance at dating me..so we have a deal?"

I nod and smile "We got a deal" I take my jacket off and my gloves too "Let's get to serving"

-Time skip- Shelby pov-

"Its been hours!" I pace in the living room while everyone watches me "They should have been back by now!"

"They are fine" Elaine smiles "I think I know what's happening...they will be perfectly ok"

"What do you mean mom?" Judy Maribel into her "What's happening?"

"Alice is bringing Diana more down to earth" Elaine smiles and takes a drink of her cocoa "They'll be here soon"

Almost like magic the front door opens "That was nice" Diana walks in with mom and moms bag "We should go there and help them next time! Maybe I can donate to fix up that horrible entry way"

"That would be lovely" Both of them smile and mom turns toward me "You look worried sweetie! You ok?"

"Yeah" I smile and nod "I'm fine"

"Welcome back from space" Elaine gets up and walks over to them "Sometimes you two are too similar!"

"Cause you are much better?" Elaine glares and the duo take off "Come get us old lady!"

"Old lady?!" Elaine takes off running "Who are you calling old?!"

"I wanna be them" I look and see Brittany smiling "They seem happy"

"I agree" I look at where my mom and mother figure ran of too "I wanna be like them too"

Maybe Christmas won't be so bad this year.
