Chapter 29: A brief encounter at Olivine City
Ethan and Bayleef had arrived at Olivine City after about two more days of walking. The town was located on the Johto coast, it was a beach town.
Upon entering Ethan got a cozy feeling from the town. "This town is great, It's the most different town we've seen in I don't know how long!" Ethan happily declaring, Bayleef happily agreeing.
Many friendly looking faces were on the street, being very welcoming to Ethan, which always made him smile.
"I love this place! All my Pokémon should see it!" Ethan said, readying four Pokéballs.
Ethan released Flaaffy, Togetic, Eevee, and his new Heracross he had been given from a friend he made.
Heracross instantly took notice of Togetic, who was bouncing around joyfully, and immediately had a problem with him.
"Hera! Hera!" Heracross yelled at Togetic, Togetic paid him no mind, however.
"Huh," Ethan said. Does Heracross have a problem with Togetic since he lost to him?
Heracross got all up in Togetic's face, trying to start something, but Togetic spun around Heracross, almost causing him to lose his balance.
"He, Hera!" Heracross yelled, about to try and pounce on the flying Togetic, that was when Bayleef and Flaaffy flew in front of Heracross, trying to break it up, making Heracross to push the two out of the way.
Heracross was about to go over to Togetic and continue to yell at him, but that was when he took notice of Eevee.
"Ee, Eevee!" Eevee pleaded with Heracross, trying to cheer him up.
Upon seeing Eevee, Heracross felt like he had fallen in love. Even Ethan could feel the love in the air.
"Hera, Heracross!" He said, suddenly forgetting all about Togetic, he grabbed Eevee by her paw, making Eevee embarrassed.
Bayleef began to laugh upon seeing Heracross so smitten by Eevee.
Heracross pulled out a rose and tried to hand it to Eevee, Eevee upon seeing this she shook her head, walking up to Flaaffy and rubbed her face near his, trying to show she wasn't interested and liked someone else.
"Hera-Heracross!" Heracross said shocked, he dropped his flower and fell to the floor.
Flaaffy pulled back his face now embarrassed, it turned out ever since he saved her life during her fight with Silver's Eevee, she had fallen for Flaaffy.
"Fl-Flaaffy...?" Flaaffy said looking at Ethan, clearly uncomfortable.
"A-alright you guys maybe just return for now!" Ethan said, returning them to their Pokéballs. Ethan then turned to Bayleef.
"Okay Bayleef, if I'm lucky, Lyra may be in this town." Ethan said, looking around. He still needed to find her.
"Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef said trying to point somewhere with her head.
Ethan followed her gaze and turned to his right to see the Olivine City Gym, making him smile.
"Maybe Lyra's headed here before us, the Gym leader can tell me if she was here or not, good thinking Bayleef." Ethan told her.
"Bay!" Bayleef smiled.
Ethan went along with Bayleef to the Gym, but as he went, he encountered someone he wasn't planning to see.
"...You again?" Silver said.
"Silver, just who I wanted to see." Ethan said sarcastically.
"Bay!" Bayleef ferociously growled, forming a battle stance, prepared to throw down.
"There's no need to be alert. I don't bother with wimps like you." Silver said looking down at Ethan.
"Then how do you live with yourself?" Ethan clapped back.
"Speaking of weaklings, the city's Gym leader isn't here, and is supposedly taking care of a sick Pokémon at the Lighthouse." Silver scoffed. "Humph! Boo-hoo! Just let sick Pokémon go! A Pokémon that can't battle is worthless!"
"I think differently." Ethan told Silver.
"I saw with how you tried to save your sick, dying Eevee, you made it very clear, no wonder you're a fool." Silver said, angering Ethan.
Ethan pulled out his Pokéball, releasing Eevee.
"Eevee!" Eevee let out a roar as she fell to the ground, forming a battle-ready stance by Bayleef.
"Oh, your Eevee looks likes she gained a few pounds since last time, but it doesn't matter, I'm starting to think you're asking for a battle." Silver said.
"Yeah, my Eevee was sick last time but now she's in better condition." Ethan said. "Now allow me to show you who's Eevee is really weak."
"Hmph, very well, then we'll have to show you firsthand once again." Silver said, throwing his Eevee's Pokéball.
"Eevee!" Silver's Eevee came and landed face to face with Ethan's.
Silver's Eevee stared down Ethan's, but Ethan's showed no fear.
"Eevee!" Silver's roared, trying to scare Ethan's.
"Eevee!" Ethan's yelled back, showing she wouldn't back down.
My Eevee's strong, she's going to prove her strength to Silver's, Ethan thought.
"Now, Eevee, Quick Attack!" Silver commanded.
Silver's Eevee came bursting at full speed at Ethan's Eevee. But she managed to leap out of the way, jumping along with combining her own Quick Attack.
She came crashing down into Silver's Eevee, and headbutting it.
"E-Eevee." Silver's Eevee said as it was pushed back.
"Eevee, what are you doing, you are not allowed to lose this!" Silver demanded.
Silver's Eevee looked back and nodded, not wanting to disappoint its Trainer.
"Eevee! Swift!" Ethan yelled. His Eevee listened, and with a wag of its tail launched many stars at Silver's.
Silver's Eevee easily managed to dodge the falling stars however and began a Take Down attack.
"Ugh, dodge it Eevee!" Ethan yelled.
Eevee tried to dodge, but the Silver's was just too fast, it crashed into Ethan's Eevee, sending her flying back to Ethan.
"Eevee!" Ethan yelled.
Ethan's Eevee crashed to the floor, falling on her back, kicking up smoke.
The people of Olivine City took notice of the battle now and gathered to watch.
"Hey, they're having a Pokémon battle!" Someone said in the audience of people there were now.
"Now Eevee, Iron Tail!" Silver commanded. His Eevee's tail began to shine as it came crashing down to crush Ethan's, but Ethan's managed to roll over and dodge.
"Eevee, now Swift!" Ethan yelled.
Silver's Eevee couldn't dodge as its tail was stuck into the ground after that last attack, Ethan's Eevee managed to strike Silver's with multiple stars which sent Silver's up in the sky before falling back to the ground.
"Do not anger me Eevee! You will win this battle no matter what, you understand!?" Silver yelled. His Eevee got back up, it seemed fatigued.
"Good work Eevee, we're winning this! Just keep it up alright!" Ethan told her.
Eevee nodded, not taking her eyes off Silver's Eevee.
"Hmph, Eevee, Quick Attack!" Silver ordered. His Eevee came rushing at incredible speed at Ethan's, it crashed into Ethan's, sending her flying back several feet to Ethan's dismay.
"Are you okay Eevee?" Ethan said, scared for her. Ethan's Eevee suddenly began to get up from the floor.
"Bayleef Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef said, trying to cheer Eevee on.
"Now Eevee, finish it with Retaliate!" Silver commanded. Silver's Eevee quickly rushed past Ethan's, inflicting fierce damage to Ethan's, causing an eruption when it finally landed.
"It's over!" Someone in the audience said.
"Awesome! Wow!" "They both did really well!"
Ethan looked to see his Eevee, who was clearly unable to battle, Ethan went down on his knees and slid to her.
"You did really good Eevee, I'm so proud of you!" Ethan said smiling.
His Eevee began to come to, she smiled upon seeing Ethan and got up slowly.
"Bay..." Bayleef sighed in relief after seeing Eevee was okay.
Silver's Eevee walked up to the Red-haired boy, it got up on to legs nudging on Silver's pant leg wanting to be pet.
"Eevee return." Silver said returning his Eevee, paying it no attention. "You did wise to not disappoint."
"Take a good rest, you earned it." Ethan said returning his Eevee. He then looked back up at Silver.
"I told you, that Eevee is pathetic." Silver said, gloating at victory.
"Who are you to decide who's pathetic or not?" Ethan asked, angered.
Bayleef walked up to Ethan's side, wanting to continue the battle, she formed a battle stance once again.
"I win, proving I have trained my Eevee better than yours, I advise you get some training in while you're here, farewell." Silver said, as he left smugly. The crowd made room for him as he passed.
Ethan turned to Bayleef. "Silver said that the Gym leader was at the Lighthouse, right?" Ethan said, Bayleef nodding.
Ethan got up from his knees. "Alright, let's go!"
Now this battle wasn't actually in the games, I decided to add it though cause I felt like giving Silver a win.
