Chapter 29
I instantly bolted down the streets, sprinting in the direction of the house which was miles and miles away.
"I do not want to kill innocent people," the voice echoed around on people's screens as I ran past time, only focusing on my own house. "I hate evil and long for a world of no crime."
Oh shite. Oh shite.
I was missing a dire moment here!
It was honestly like a 'who's that pokemon?' game except we're dealing with a pokemon who could kill with heart attacks and work as a magazine model.
I burst into the house, stomping up the stairs and kicking Light's bedroom door while screaming.
"Who in the hell is so stupid enough to do this?!" My shriek echoed the whole hall as Light and Ryuk stared at me with calm eyes. On the screen, it showed two Kira task force members shouting at some kind of broadcast building, only to be collapsed dead on the floor. A few minutes later, a police car slammed into the broadcasting building, followed up with a few more live broadcasts of Kira's killings.
I slumped on the floor as Light turned away from the TV, studying me.
"You dyed your hair," he stated simply.
"No shit sherlock," I grumbled and panted, rolling my sweat-covered black hair out of the way with my fingers.
"I don't see why this is such a negative thing, after all, it seems like this second Kira is on my side." Light rolled his shoulders as Ryuk chuckled lightly.
"Another Death God has come to join the party," Ryuk grinned before floating towards my sweaty figure. "And this time, this owner has the eyes."
Light chuckled at Ryuk's words, plotting over the possibilities of the future.
"And here I was, thinking that you were smart, Light." I frowned and stood up, walking closer to the screen, squinting at the shadow of our father who was screaming orders in his phone.
"Who gave you the idea that this second user will be able to erase all tracks of their tapes?" I placed a hand on my hip as Light's smile slowly slid off of his face. His smile had disappeared so iconically that I wanted to videotape the moment and make it into a meme.
"How do you know that this second Kira is able to be subtle enough, escape L's pursuit, and manage to not let the Death Note be discovered?"
Light's jaw tensed instantly at my assumptions, whipping around to the TV to see the broadcast being stopped. The intense look in his eyes increased as his pupils flared at the screen, the air around him becoming stiffer and stiffer. As if rage and suspicion were a monster, it crawled out from Light's body, slightly trembling as it broke out from his chest, screeching with an appalling sound.
I shivered from the intensity, the Death God's edging laughter did not help at all.
"Stop it!" I snapped my fingers and pushed myself in front of Light's view, blocking the TV. Light's hostility nearly shocked me into a state of flinching, yet I wasn't scared because I knew he couldn't kill me.
"All we can do is wait," I cupped his cold cheeks with my warm fingers, rubbing them slightly to heat them up.
"I will kill them," Light snarled out of his mouth with venom.
"This second Kira seems like they admire you," I growled out at his rising intensity under my gaze. "You must get them under control before L finds out there is a second Kira."
Light stiffly breathed out with internal turmoil as I let him go, him staring hard at me before closing his eyes to calm himself.
"Ryuk, are the owners the only ones that can make the eye deal?" I questioned as Light's eyes snapped open to meet mine.
Ryuk chuckled.
"Unfortunately, girly, you are correct." Ryuk floated his body around me, gazing with interest.
I refused to meet Light's eyes, not wanting to know if it was joy or frustration that I couldn't make the eye deal. It answered a question for me though, knowing that if I had somehow made one of my writers the owner of any Death Note, I would be able to order them to make the deal.
"Is that so?" I said colorlessly before pivoting on my toes and heading towards the door of Light's room. "That's too bad."
4 days later, the refusal from the police was voiced out to Kira in public.
I watched Misa Amane's words roll off the audio as they expressed their regret and willingness to execute anyone who stood in their way. I was well aware of Light's movements to join the Kira investigation force since he kept on flickering in and out of the house after his school days.
It had amused me, even though I had done my best to keep the plot from derailing, it had changed a bit. It also was amusing that despite me changing some of the points, Light's decision to join the task force was well according to the anime.
It was like, although I had changed Light, the power of the plot had to keep him from trailing too far. This had made everything so much easier. Because if that was the case, then Light's death would be 100% set in stone.
It was only two days later when Light had called me into his bedroom with the excuse of helping me with my history studies.
"Oh? You've successfully joined the Kira task force, huh?" I crossed my legs and sat on his bed, curling a strand of hair around my finger. So young, only 18 yet already working with the world's greatest detective.
I fought the urge to grit my teeth from my pathetic 18-year-old past that did nothing but get into a good University. Fuck you geniuses...you will be the death of me.
"I will not be home for most of the time," he replied before adding what he really wanted to tell me. "Phones are not allowed in the task force."
"Ah," my eyes trailed towards Light's, smirking ever so slightly. "Don't worry, I'll stay alive when you're not here."
"Good," he said casually at my answer, knowing that my other meaning was that I'd behave when he wasn't here. But he knew that even with my empty promise, I'd still be going somewhere somehow. There was a lingering silence between us before I scoffed at his expressionless face.
That's it? You called me to your room just for this short study session?
"I won't tell you to be careful around L, since you already know he suspects you," I paused my words before getting up. "All I can advise is that you stay calm and play his game."
I heard his unwavering reply before I left the room, chuckling slightly at how fast the plot was moving despite the last few months being nothing but waiting for L and Light to meet.
I have prepared everything during the waiting time.
I am ready.
It's showtime.
"How the fu-"
"PG 13, Miyara!"
The smug smile didn't leave my face as I stared proudly at my finished transcript laying in a dignified manner on my desk as the girls swamped around my area, gasping and touching the sheet of paper like some kind of holy gift from god.
My arms were crossed arrogantly in front of my chest as I leaned back in my seat, dangling my right leg across my left one.
"You have achieved the impossible, congratulations." Tsubame lifted her head from my papers and turned to dry clap for me. "You have also gained an extreme amount of large pores, dark circles, cakey skin, and blackheads."
I twitched at her words.
Fine! I'm not that beautiful anymore! No worries, I'll just go to the salon every day!
"What are you going to do in school now? You've basically already finished all the courses!" Isame glanced at me with awe.
I sneered in vain.
Salon during school hours! I'm a free woman!
"Who!" I jumped up from my seat and ignored all the weird gazes from my other classmates. "Who can attempt this, and get away with it?!"
I cackled with my arms in the air.
"She's gone crazy," I heard Tsubame whisper to Miyara as the blonde nodded sorrowfully.
"After trying so hard...she's finally lost it." Miyara blinked away her tears and sniffled dramatically, earning a gasp from Isame.
"Miyara! Your acting improved!" She huddled over to the blonde as I gave them the stink eye.
"Hey! I was basking in my shining light of glory! At least watch me!"
They ignored whatever I was saying that whole class.
"So you've graduated," Felix eyed my paper as two workers were focusing on my clay mask, one of them was massaging my shoulders while I was having a rose foot bath.
"Mhmm, quite impressive, isn't it?" My tone came out as haughty as the next Draco Malfoy before I smirked again, staring into the mirror.
"So you're completely free from school, I assume?" Felix asked again before I glanced at him weirdly and nodded, calling one of the workers to hand me some cold water.
"Good, Anthony from the Red Dragon group wants to meet you for a business contract 10 days later. You're flying to China."
I choked on the drink with bulging eyes, making the facial mask crumble and the mask getting pulled off abruptly amidst that chaos. I gasped, strands of pain came from my coughing some more as someone took away the spilling glass in my hand, patting me on the back in order to help air circulate into my lungs.
I gaped like a fish in front of Felix. But before I could say anything, he interrupted.
"You have your teacher's actions in control, right? Order him to draft up a field trip to China. Show it to your mom when your dad isn't home. If she doesn't agree, manipulate her into signing the Death Note." Felix said nonchalantly before sliding out a 15 cm x 15 cm small piece of Death Note.
"You have 2 days to settle the deal with your family. You'll be gone for 15 days and be back on May 25th." He said.
I continued to stare at him with my mouth open, not believing what was sprouting from his mouth before turning around and grunting.
"So well thought out, Felix." I mocked as I extended my palm for the glass of water. The workers immediately complied, placing another wet mask made out of seaweed and green tea on my face.
"I thank you for the compliment, Alyona." Felix smirked at my glaring eyes from the mirror.
"So then I'll get the family thing done in the first few days, the rest three days I'll assume to be taught how a business contract goes and its details?" I took a sip of the water, this time making sure it went into the correct lung.
"I'll spare some of the details right now," Felix nodded before telling me everything that he had memorized. "It's a huge technology cooperation from the Black Dragons. We provide the blueprints, they provide the materials since China is vast in the uprising technologies. In return, we get 10% of their profit, and 80% off when buying their products."
"Exactly what kind of technology are we dealing with here?" I surveyed the details of my seaweed mask before sniffing it and leaning to one of the workers. "Oh, this mask is pleasant. Make sure to have them in stock all the time."
"The newest prototype for a screen touch phone," Felix answered.
I froze.
Oh ho? Oh ho ho ho?
"I thought all you mafias did shady work," I cooed. "This business seems a bit normal to me."
Felix scoffed at my remark before saying, "the blueprint is stolen from America."
A curve made itself fully onto my face.
"Finders keepers~" I sang before grinning.
"Done deal. All I have to do is clarify the terms and contract? Then what am I doing there for 15 whole days? Don't we only need 3 at the most?" The corners of my lips lifted up into a half-smile. I am totally gonna try out for an internet celeb in this life.
"You have done a very good job in entertaining the young master of that group," Felix closed his eyes and sighed with a bit of fatigue in his voice.
"He has offered to show you around the country...and teach you some skills." He finished.
Damn, Anthony must still have a grudge for me not taking his side during his debate with Hugo. I licked my dry lips with a chuckle. Oh damn, this is going to be fun.
"Will I be going alone?"
Felix shook his head at my words.
"I'll be accompanying you."
"Good," I smiled sweetly at the upcoming future. "Very good."
"A trip to China?" My mom rubbed her wet hands on her apron and studied the sheet of paper faked by Hoshino.
"Sure," she chirped.
Seriously? That's it? Easy!
"Ah, then mom, aside from that signing, could you also print your full name on this?" I took out the 15 cm Death Note paper and handed it to her when she sat down on the table to sign my permission slip to China.
"What's this?" She raised her eyebrows and looked at me before I smiled sweetly.
"This is a good luck charm," I bullshitted. "Teacher Hoshino is bringing us to a temple in China. Apparently, if we stick our own handwritten names, it brings prosperity and family reunion. Everyone is bringing a family member's name."
Step one: Japanese people hate being left out.
"I know you're worried about dad and Light, so I thought that I could try it out," I lowered my eyes to the ground, fumbling with my school tie. "Is it too bothersome?"
Step 2: Be sensitive to her worries.
Step 3: Use your own tactic to trap her, making her think that if she refused, her family would be sad.
"Oh! No! Thank you Sayu for worrying about our family," Mom shook her head and started scribbling her name onto the paper.
"Ah, also, it's a rule to be imagining your own face while writing it," I added on as she nodded, scribbling out her name and writing it again, this time much more clearly. I could see her thinking hard about her own face. I grinned slyly.
She passed me the paper with all her names and signatures before beaming at me.
"Is that all?"
I nodded at her words, walking to the other side before writing on the back of her written name. She gazed over curiously before I cut her upcoming words.
Step 4: Tell her the answer to her most possible question to shut her up.
"I'm just writing our wishes for the future," I turned my eyes down without looking at her. "I hope our family will come out of the hard times and be reunited again."
I heard a small sniffle from my mom as I finished my writing, flipping the page over and walking forwards to hug my mom.
"Shh," I whispered. "All will be fine. All will be good."
I smoothed her hair, patting her back while eyeing smugly on the paper. Thank goodness I had asked that stranger guy to write my name wrong 4 times. I chuckled inwardly. This makes the control so much easier to write.
Sachiko Yagami
Will act on all requests from Sayu Yagami. All orders from this person shall be granted and not questioned until death. The orders shall not be shared until death. Cause of death: Original lifespan.
"You're going to China for 19 days?" Light's eyebrows lifted with a look of skepticism. "I never knew your school had such long trips."
To be honest, it was only 15, but I had to stay overnight at Henrik's mansion to accept my lessons about business contracts and etiquette. Apparently, I was dancing correctly at the ball, but it wasn't elegant and proper enough. Felix had recommended me to start etiquette all from the beginning.
"I recommended it," I shrugged. "Never knew they would take me seriously though."
"And exactly why did you recommend it?" He pressed his lips together and stared at me with questioning eyes.
Smirking, I took out another form held in between my arm and body, flashing it in his face. It took him a moment to glance over my transcript, reading all the titles of the completed courses before trailing his gaze towards my wide grin.
"Congratulations," he said simply before handing it back to me.
"And here I thought that you would be more surprised." I huffed, plopping down beside him on his bed. "Come on! Admit it! You didn't expect me to finish all of them before September!"
Light smirked at me silently.
Abruptly turning his body towards mine, he pushed me down with both of his hands on each side of my head. My heart leaped out of my chest, slamming into my bones before toppling over with gasps and wheezes before gaping up at his sudden action. My blood shrieked, yet I resisted any urge to morph my expression into surprise and stared back at him with deadpan eyes.
My hair was sprawled out delicately on his pillow as my head turned to watch my curls in between his fingers as he played with it.
"What are you doing?" I said boredly, watching his fingers caress my soft locks.
"What do you think?" Light lifted a black lock and kissed it without breaking eye contact. Shivers shot through my body as I tore away my gaze to see his legs still dangling over his bed.
"Don't tell me…" I bit my lip before turning my irked eyes to meet his. "This is your way of bowing?"
My eyes twitched when he didn't say anything, only the shimmer in his eyes told me that I was right on track.
"What is a bow, Sayu?" He ran his fingers over my jawline as jolts of electricity bubbled under my skin, making me quiver slightly.
"When you," I gnashed my lips together to form a straight line. "When your body is bent."
"Precisely, Sayu." The smile on his face grew wider before continuing. "It is when you're lowering the torso and head as a social gesture."
I pushed him away, rolling off his bed before staring at him with an indecipherable look.
"1 month of sweets," I reminded him before grubling out how unfair it was.
"To be correct, 12 days after you come back from your 19-day vacation."
I gasped, this time fury surfacing onto my face.
"You never said when the 1 month would start," he mused before shrugging nonchalantly.
"Fuuuuuuuu-" I snarled out before stomping to my room, slamming the door behind me.
My fucking reward was played, cut in half, and joked by the guy who lost!
"Nani the faku?!" I screamed as I heard Light's laugh from the walls.
"Fuck you, Light!"
