Epilogue
When the alarm in her cell phone went off, Sabrina tried to shut it up, but no matter how much she tried, her left hand just did not seem to find the cell on top of her bedside table. And if it was not for Mika, who was rudely awakened from a really cool dream by it, it would have continued to sound off for a little longer. Hovering to the bedside table, he silenced it.
"You need to get a new alarm, kiddo." -Mika told her. –"This one hurts my ears." -he said, as he could still hear the alarm inside his head.
"That's the point…" -Sabrina said, as she yawned and grabbed her glasses. –"If it doesn't hurt your ears, it means it's not annoying enough or loud enough, and you know I'm a heavy sleeper. My alarm has to hurt my ears, for me to want to shut it down." -she said.
"Well, I don't like it. My ears very sensitive." -Mika said.
Getting out of bed, Sabrina stretched herself, yawning once more, before making her way to the window and opening the curtains. Looking outside, the sun was shining brighten than ever. There was a slight breeze, which she noticed by the leaves in the tree near her window. Outside, people hurried to get to their jobs, or to do one of numerous tasks that they had set themselves to do that morning. It looked like it was going to be a perfect Spring day, and Sabrina was determined to make the most of it.
"It's such a beautiful day outside." -Sabrina said, as she kept looking out the window.
"You're just saying that because you're still happy with what happened last night." -Mika told her, as he covered his eyes with his paws. –"You're not exactly a morning person… just like me. At least, not until you've had breakfast." -he said.
"Well, I'm allowed to say that once in a while I'm a morning person, before breakfast." -Sabrina said. –"And you're right, I'm still happy with what happened last night." -she admitted. –"Do me a favour and pinch me, so I know that I'm not dreaming, please?"
"You know this isn't a dream, so cut that out." -Mika told her. –"I'm not in the mood to pinch you. Pinch yourself instead."
"You really are a little grumpy this morning." -Sabrina giggled.
"And you're sickly sweet this morning… you sound almost like Rose, whenever she's talking about unicorns, fluffy animals or Juleka." -Mika pointed out.
"Well, after what happened last night, I guess you could say that I feel like that I earned the right to behave a little bit like Rose does." -Sabrina said.
(Flashback)
As Louve had said, she knew of a place where they made the best funnel cakes in the city, and which was open until 3 in the morning. And she guided Queen Bee to it, so the two could share a sweet snack, on that night that would be forever remember by both of them, as the one night where they found out they had a crush on one another, and when they started to date. Once they arrived, Louve found a place to turn back to normal and then went to buy the funnel cakes. Already with the sweet treats, she went back to the place she had used to return to normal, transformed again and went back to where she had left the bee heroine. Smiling, Queen Bee greeted the wolf heroine with a kiss on the lips, before taking the funnel cake that was covered in honey. Sating on the building's ledge, side by side, the two leaned against one another, enjoying each other's company and the still warm funnel cakes.
"Mmm… you have no idea just how much I was craving one of these." -Queen Bee told her girlfriend.
"I can imagine." -Louve Grise smiled at the bee heroine.
"It's not my fault, these things are so good." -Queen Bee stated, as she nibbled the funnel cake.
"I really wasn't expecting the day to end up this way." -Louve Grise admitted.
"You ain't the only one. I wasn't expecting it to end this way either." -Queen Bee said, as she bit the funnel cake. –"But I'm glad it did." -she smiled at her. –"Because I gained something that I didn't have… a sweet girlfriend."
"Girlfriend." -Louve Grise giggled. –"It's going to take me a while to get used to that word. Especially, since I was your best-friend for a really long time, and I never thought that you would be calling me that." -she smiled.
"I admit it's going to take me a while to get used to calling you that too, but I think in time, I'll get used to it." -Queen Bee admitted, before taking another bite out of the funnel cake. –"And what do you mean when you said "I was your best-friend for a really long time?", Sabrina? You still are my best-friend. Just because you are my girlfriend now, doesn't mean you get rid of being my best-friend." -she told her, with a smile.
"I know that. I was just teasing you… I'm going to start to do that, a lot more from now, because I know you won't get mad." -Louve Grise giggled.
"Good. Because best-friends are hard to find, and I don't want to lose one like you." -Queen Bee said. –"And if you keep teasing me that way, I'm going to start teasing you back, whenever I can… or whenever I feel like doing it." -she smirked at her.
"It's fair." -Louve Grise smiled. –"By the way, how are we going to do this?" -she asked her. –"We're not going to tell our parents about us, obviously, but what about our friends? Are we going to tell them, or are we going to keep this a secret, like Rose and Juleka did, until February?"
"What do you think? Of course, we're going to tell them." -Queen Bee answered her. –"You know better than anyone else, that I don't like to keep things a secret, unless I really have to." -she said. –"And I don't want to keep a secret that the two of us are dating… Also, I need to brag to them, that I'm dating the cutest redhead in Paris."
It warmed Louve's heart to know that her girlfriend wanted to share their relationship with the rest of their friends. One of the many things that went through her head was the possibility of her not wanting anyone to know about them. But when she heard her saying otherwise, the idea that that could happen, disappeared as quickly as it appeared in her mind.
"Just try not to brag too much, okay?" -Louve Grise told her
"I'll try, but I won't make promises. You know that as much as I've changed, I still like to brag about things." -Queen Bee chuckled. -"And as for our parents, maybe in a couple of years, when we're older and already in college. By then, maybe the world has evolved enough, for us to be able to reveal ourselves, without being stoned to death, and criticized for dating each other." -she declared. –"France may not be the United States, but you still have a lot of people who don't see two guys or two girls dating with good eyes."
"I don't know if the world or this country, is going to change enough for that to happen… and I'm imagining it will be a scandal for your dad, and your mom as well." -Louve Grise said, when she realized, she might have touched a sensitive topic. –"I-I'm sorry, Chloe, I didn't mean to..." -she quickly apologized.
"N-No, it's okay. You can talk about my mom." -Queen Bee admitted, with a neutral voice. –"Not talking about her won't make what's happening disappear." -she sighed. –"Also, my mind is a bit of a mess because of everything that happened. I need time to fully process everything."
"Well, if you want to talk about it, I'm here. And if you don't, I'll still be here, keeping you company, and to hear you, if you change your mind about talking about it" -Louve Grise said.
Upon hearing her say that, the bee heroine smiled at her girlfriend and lightly caressed her face, making her smile as well. She appreciated the fact of her not forcing her to talk about the matter, while assuring her that if she felt like doing it, she would be there to hear her. And she knew she would have to talk about it, sooner or later. But not right then. Right then, she just wanted to enjoy her funnel cake, as well as the company of the wolf-heroine. Quickly changing the subject, to something a little more cheerful, it helped to boost Queen Bee's morale.
"It's such a beautiful night, isn't it? I mean, we've had beautiful nights before, but this one is particularly beautiful." -Queen Bee said. –"But it might because I'm with the most wonderful person I know." -she told the wolf heroine.
"Stop it! You're making me blush, Chloe." –Louve Grise said.
"And here I thought that Marinette and Mylene were the ones who blushed easily, right after hearing a complement." -Queen Bee joked. –"You can blush away, because it's just the two of us here, Sabrina. And I don't mind seeing you blush. It only makes you look prettier." -she teased her.
It felt a little strange for the two of them, hearing each other flirt like that with one another. But they were slowly getting used to it, and both believed that even if it felt strange to them now, that eventually it would become a natural thing to them. It was just another detail of sharing a new kind of relationship.
"Can I be honest?" -Louve Grise asked.
"Why wouldn't you be?" -Queen Bee asked her.
"I never thought that one day I would ever see you as more than just a friend. And I certainly never thought that one day I would be dating you." -Louve Grise confessed. –"Life has a funny way to be as unpredictable as possible, whether we like it, or not." -she chuckled.
"You're sounding like Master Fu, right about now." -Queen Bee said. –"But you're right, life has a funny way to be unpredictable. And maybe that's a good thing. Because if it was predictable, I would now be in my bed, trying to get to sleep, instead of meeting you and realizing that I have developed feelings for you, and asking you to become my girlfriend, even if you were the one who realized that you had feelings for me first." -she said. –"And as funny as it might be, I'm glad it's unpredictable, because I want it to be that way, so I can continue to be surprised, the same way I was surprised, when I found out you were in love with me. Definitely one of the best surprises ever."
"Your words make me really happy. In fact, I'm so happy right now, that I think I could do something crazy, like howl at the Moon." -Louve said, as she finished her funnel cake.
"Then, why don't you do it?" -Queen Bee asked her. –"Go ahead, howl away." -she encouraged her, as she finished her funnel cake.
"Okay… owooooo." -Louve Grise howled.
"Oh, come on, Sabrina! You call that a howl?! You can do better than that. I've heard you doing better." -Queen Bee told her. –"So, go on, howl like you mean it!" -she said, as she too finished her funnel cake.
"Alright, alright…. OWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" -Louve Grise howled from the top of her lungs.
"Now there's a howl worthy of my beautiful she-wolf." -Queen Bee smiled.
"Beautiful she-wolf? Is that going to be your love nickname for me?" -Louve Grise asked the bee heroine, curious.
"I don't know… I mean, it sounds nice, but it's not what I would call a proper love nickname." -Queen Bee admitted. –"I'll have to find one that suits you well." -she said.
"Well, I know the one I'm going to call you… my majestic bumblebee." -Louve Grise declared. –"Or just bumblebee for short." -she said.
"Bumblebee? What am I, an Autobot?!" -Queen Bee asked her in a sarcastic tone, which made Louve Grise laugh like crazy. –"What? What's so funny?" -she asked her, not understanding why she was laughing like that.
"S-Sorry, but I'm actually surprised you know anything about Transformers." -Louve Grise answered her, between laughs.
"Just because I'm not a nerd like Max, or Kim or even Adrien, I also know a couple of nerd-related things." -Queen Bee told her.
"I'm sorry, that was mean on my part." -Louve Grise apologized.
"It's okay. I know that sometimes I say or do things that make others think that I don't care or know about those subjects, and when I happen to say something about it, people get shocked." -Queen Bee admitted.
"Well, you just need to talk a little more about it, and others' won't get so shocked, when you reveal that you know about the subject." -Louve Grise stated. –"I know! We can make numerous series marathons, and then, we can talk about them with the rest of our friends, and eventually, they won't be so surprised, when talk about nerd and geek stuff." -she suggested. –"Also, it'll give me the opportunity to get you addicted to some of my favourite series, cartoons and movies. And you can do the same thing with me."
"I'll have to think about it. But I don't think you're going to get me addicted to yoru favourite series and movies. I know that you love to watch police crime dramas and forensics crime dramas, but you're not going to rub it on me." -Queen Bee smirked at her, confident that that would not happen.
"You want to bet?" -Sabrina smirked back at her.
"Like I said before, we just began dating, and you're already trying to pull the shots in this relationship." -Queen Bee said, as she placed her arm around Louve's waist and gently pulled her closer, while resting her head on her shoulder. –"I think… no, I'm sure that I'm going to love dating you, Sabrina." -she sighed.
(End of flashback)
"I'll never forget last night." -Sabrina said. –"And I can't wait to see Chloe again this morning. She agreed to give me a ride to school today." -she smiled, as she looked herself in the mirror. –"But first, I'm going to need a shower and do my hair. I can't go into public with this mess of a hair."
"You know, you're starting to sound too girly for my taste. You usually don't care about those things." -Mika commented. –"I think you look cool with that hairstyle, kiddo. Gives you a sort of savage look." -he told her.
"Yeah, well, today's a special day, and I want to look good." -Sabrina told Mika, as he landed on her hand. -"Come on, don't be so grumpy, Mika. It's not because I'm now dating Chloe that I'm going to stop paying attention to you." -she said, as she tickled him, making him laugh. –"Tickle, tickle, tickle!"
"S-Stop it! Y-You know I'-I'm ticklish!" -Mika giggled, as Sabrina continued to tickle him on his feet and tail.
After that tender moment between them, Sabrina went to take a shower. Once she was finished, she decided to choose what she was going to wear that day. She wanted to look nice, and so she looked into her wardrobe and found the perfect outfit: an emerald-green vest, a white shirt, a white skirt with black patterns, green knee-high stockings and black sailing shoes. And as a finishing touch, she decided to wear an emerald-green headband, instead of her usual white one. Looking at the time, she saw that she only had a couple of minutes to get breakfast, before Chloe showed up to give her a ride to school. Heading to the kitchen, she heard there was someone inside it. And that someone was her father, who had arrived from his shift a few minutes before, and was now getting something to eat, before going to bed.
"Good morning, dad." -Sabrina smiled, as she kissed her father on the cheek.
"Good morning, pumpkin. You look very pretty today." -Lieutenant Raincomprix smiled at his daughter, as he finished making a sandwich. –"Ready for another day of school?" -he asked, as he yawned.
"I am. And you're ready for a few good hours of sleep?" -Sabrina asked him, noticing he looked dead on his feet.
"Just about it, pumpkin. Just need to finish eating this, and then, I'm going to bed." -Lieutenant Raincomprix declared. –"I'm grateful that this was the last day of night shift I'll have to do for the next two months." -he sighed.
"It's a good thing too. I hate seeing you work so late." -Sabrina said, as she grabbed an apple for breakfast.
"Has your mom left yet?" -Lieutenant Raincomprix asked her. –"She was not in the bedroom, when I arrived." -he stated.
"Yes, she did. I heard her saying something about being late for some meeting in the court, when I was drying my hair in the bathroom" -Sabrina said.
"She's always in a hurry." -Lieutenant Raincomprix chuckled, before yawning once more. –"I'm really needing a few hours of sleep." -he said.
"Rough night?" -Sabrina asked him, as she grabbed a piece of sweet bread for Mika.
"No, it was actually a quiet night. But that just made it go by slower than usual." -Lieutenant Raincomprix told his daughter. –"Do not tell your mom about this, because you know she hates that kind of thing, because she is afraid that I might get hurt, but I practically prayed for an assault, or something else to happen action." -he said, as he nibbled his sandwich.
Sabrina knew that her dad loved his job, and she was happy that was a fact. She sometimes loved to go with him on patrol, because she got to see just how police work happened. Still, she sometimes worried about the dangers he might find when on the job. Paris was hardly the safest capital in Europe, though it was not the most dangerous either. But thieves and such were the things that least worried her, because she knew her dad had trained to deal with those. What worried her were him getting mixed up with any Akuma that showed up. She had already lost count of the times when she had saved his life, and was afraid that one day she would not be around to save him.
"Leave those dangerous situations for the Miraculous Team, dad." -Sabrina told him in a playful tone. –"I've read that they patrol the city at night, and that they help take out criminals." -she said.
"I'm sure they do. But even they can't be everywhere at the same time." -Lieutenant Raincomprix told her.
"Oh, if Kim or Alix were here, they would tell you otherwise. Heck, even Rose would do that as well." -Sabrina thought to herself. –"Maybe you're right. Still, I'm with mom on this one. I don't like you getting into dangerous situations. Just knowing that you've been into more than one Akuma attack, makes my heart get more worried than usual." -she told him. –"And it's a good thing I'm always there to protect you. But I fear that one day I won't be fast enough to do it."
"Don't worry, honey. I always try not to get myself into dangerous situations. Also, you're talking with a police officer who stared Hawk Moth in the eyes and survived to tell the tale." -Lieutenant Raincomprix said, before yawning. –"If I survived an encounter with him, I can survive anything." -he said.
"That's my brave dad." -Sabrina said, as she hugged him. –"But to make sure that you're ready for anything, you better get beneath the sheets and get some sleep. We don't want the bad guys to get away, because you didn't sleep enough." -she said. –"I better get going. I don't want to keep Chloe waiting for me. See you later, dad."
"See you later, pumpkin. Have a great day of school." -Lieutenant Raincomprix said, as he nibbled his sandwich.
Grabbing her backpack, where Mika was already hiding, Sabrina slid it over her shoulder and exited, saying goodbye to her dad. Not feeling like going down the stairs, she took the elevator. Already inside it, she received a text from Chloe, warning her that she was about to arrive, and for her to come down. Sabrina quickly texted her back, saying that she would be on the street in a matter of seconds. Reaching the ground floor, Sabrina did not even allow the elevator doors to fully open. Exiting it, she picked up the pace and exited the building. Looking to her left, she saw Chloe's usual limousine approaching.
Once the limousine parked in front of Sabrina, the door opened, and she was surprised by Chloe's visual that morning. Instead of wearing her hair in a ponytail, as she always did, she decided to wear it loose. But that was not the only thing that looked different about her visual. Instead of wearing something flashy, like she used to, when going to school, Chloe decided to wear something simpler that morning. She was wearing a light grey dress with a pleated sheath, along with a matching light grey long jacket, and dark grey ankle boots. Looking at her, Sabrina felt that Chloe looked unrecognizable. In fact, she thought to herself, that if instead of seeing her exiting from her limousine, the redhead had seen her somewhere else, she would have never recognized her.
"Good morning, Sabrina." -Chloe smiled at Sabrina.
"Good morning, Chloe… You look like an angel." -Sabrina told her, as Chloe gave her a big hug. She wanted to kiss her right then, but knew that she could not do it; so, she had to settle for a really tight hug.
"I know. Pollen told me the same thing." -Chloe whispered to her ear. –"I think it's the jacket, because it gives the illusion that I have wings." -she said, as they broke the hug.
"Not that you need any wings to be an angel." -Sabrina smiled at her. –"I also like your hair. I'm not used to seeing you with your hair down like that. It suits you well." -she declared.
"Thanks, Sabrina." -Chloe smiled at her. –"But I see I'm not the only one who looks pretty today. You also look super pretty." -she said, as she examined the outfit Sabrina had chosen to wear that morning. –"I see you're wearing that sweater I bought you last week."
"Yes. I thought it would go great with this white skirt." -Sabrina said.
"And you thought well. It really goes well with that skirt. Although I would have used high-heel sandals, instead of sailing shoes." -Chloe commented. –"But other than that, you look really beautiful." -she smiled.
"Thank you." -Sabrina blushed a little. –"Sorry, if I'm blushing, but other than my parents, almost no one praises me like that." -she said.
"Well, from now on, you better get used to it, because I'll be praising you, whenever I can." -Chloe told her, before opening the limousine's door. –"Your carriage awaits." -she smiled at Sabrina.
"Thank you." -Sabrina thanked her girlfriend, while entering the limousine.
"Oh, and by the way, you can kiss me all you want, now. I told Jean about us." -Chloe said in a casual tone, as she closed the door.
"Y-You did?" -Sabrina asked her, shocked.
"Yes, I did. And he promised that he won't tell anyone about us. Isn't that right, Jean?" -Chloe asked him.
"Yes, Miss Chloe." -Jean answered her. –"I'll be giving you a little privacy now." -he said, as he made the limousine's divider go up.
"Why did you tell him?" -Sabrina asked Chloe, as the limousine started running.
"The truth? It slipped my tongue." -Chloe admitted –"He was bringing me breakfast, when I told him about how we became girlfriends yesterday." -she said, before whispering something to Sabrina's ear. –"But don't worry, I came up with a different story for how it all happened. He doesn't suspect about what really happened."
"That's a relief." -Sabrina thought to herself. –"I don't want to be mean, but you've got to be careful. We don't the wrong people to know about us." -she said.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I promise you I'll be more careful. Other than Jean, only our friends will know about us." -Chloe smiled at her. –"Also, yesterday I forgot to tell you something." -she said. –"I've decided that I'm going to start playing the violin again."
"Really?" -Sabrina asked her, excited about the news.
"Well, that was the deal between the two of us, right?" -Chloe smiled, reminding her the promise they had made two days before. –"I already talked with my dad, and he has agreed to find me a new teacher. But before that, I need to buy a new violin, because the one I have is a little too small for me." -she said. –"So… would you like to come with me buy a new one, later?"
"Yes. Definitely. Absolutely." -Sabrina smiled at Chloe, before pressing her lips against hers. –"And after you buy it, you've got to play a small concert for me." -she told her.
"It's a deal." -Chloe said, before kissing her again.
In the Garden of the Ancients, Master Fu was busy preparing things for when the young heroes showed up to train. After what happened during Mind Void's rampage, it was imperative for them to train even harder than before. And Master Fu was going to help them, as always. He still had a few hours before they showed up, so he was taking his time getting things ready, while also appreciating the silence that reigned on that place. He would be lying, if he said he did not enjoy seeing the garden filled with laughs, chatter and other kinds of teenage-related noises. But he also enjoyed it, when it was just him there.
"Let's see, what kind of tea should I serve them today?" -Master Fu asked himself. –"Oolong is always nice. But they will need a little extra energy if they're going to be borrowing abilities from each other… perhaps, Mao Jian green tea is the best choice. I'll have to see if I still have some in the cupboard. If not, I'll have to choose something else." -he said.
Looking in the cupboard, he quickly found the Mao Jian green tea. But as he held the jar with it, he began to wonder if there would not be a better tea for the occasion. It was one of those dilemmas that only someone who had a fondness and a passion for tea would understand. And Master Fu was one of such people. He had learned over the course of his long life to appreciate the nature of tea. Of how such a beverage could sometimes come from the humblest of plants. Of how it could make someone feel better, after drinking it. In sum, he had learned to see beauty in the tea.
"Perhaps, something less strong would be better. I don't want to give them a tea that will make it hard for them to sleep tonight." -Master Fu said, as his eyes looked at the Book of Prophecies, who was sitting in its usual place. –"Right now, I wouldn't mind having you predict which tea I will serve them today. But you would probably only tell it to me, after I had decided which tea I will serve." -he joked, when the book began to glow.
Every time the Book of Prophecies glowed, it meant that one of the blank pages had been filled with yet another piece of information, regarding the endless struggle of the Miraculous holders against the forces of darkness. Wondering what it could have showed up in it, Master Fu placed the jar back on the cupboard, and went to check it. Carefully opening it, he was astounded by what had been predicted in it.
"What's this?" -Master Fu asked, as he looked at the new page of the Book of Prophecies. –"Well, this is certainly going to be a game-changer, no doubt about it." -he said, as he continued to look at the page. –"Should I tell them? No… not yet. This can wait. Though, I will have to make arrangements for what's coming. But for the time being, let them focus on the present; the future can wait a little bit longer."
The End (for now)
And it's finished! This one took me almost 7 months to finish. Even so, I loved writing every chapter of it. This has been the longest fanfic I've ever wrote. And I must say that I did pretty much everything I wanted with it. I may have left one or two things out, but those will eventually appear in the following sequels. And speaking of sequels, it is time for me to tell you what following adventure awaits the Miraculous Heroes. But first things, first. You all remember me talking about a series of one-shots that I was planning for this AU? Well, I've decided that it's time to put those into motion. The fic that will gather all of those one-shots will be named "Miraculous Team: Shorts". I'll start working on the first of numerous one-shots, as soon as I'm able to, and to read them, all you will have to do is read them. :)
Now regarding the following adventure, it will be names "Miraculous Team: Cosplay Chaos"... that's right, our heroes are going to delve into the world of cosplay, conventions and other cool stuff. But don't think they'll be enjoying themselves, as a new threat shows up.
Also, regarding the outfit that Chloe is wearing in this epilogue, I must admit that I didn't come up with it. Instead, I borrowed it from a fellow writer, StellarStylus, who kindly allowed me to do so, as well as Cerumoce, who was the one who designed it. The outfit is what Chloé wears for the first day of school in StellarStylus' AU story "Butterfly Effect Elsewhere" in which things change drastically because Chloé is a good person who everybody loves (and that's because it's a character from another franchise who got isekai'd into Chloé's body, so it's a crossover story). Be sure to check out Cerumoce's page to see the outfit in question, and while you're at it, why not give StellarStylus' story a try? Especially because he's going to have a fashion-themed OC Akuma inspired by one of my own Akumas, Haute Couture. ;)
As always, feel free to comment, fav, and leave suggestions to improve this AU of mine. And until we meet again, stay safe and stay miraculous. ;)
