While this is not my idea, I'm interested enough to carry it into fruition. Basically in this story, Naruto is the first male to ever be born in the Elemental nations. Sounds like the start of a harem fantasy right?
Well, there's a few road bumps to it that actually change this story into something very different.
You see, if Naruto is the first male EVER, that means that up until this point, women have been procreating by themselves, thus not even needing men in the first place. That means that once Naruto is born, he's either going to be seen as an aberration, a female with birth defects since no one know what a male is, or if males are some mythical species he'll be seen as a natural wonder in the world, something to be studied and exploited, but certainly not used to reproduce since it's already been established that these females don't need males to reproduce and possibly might not even be capable of reproducing with a male.
So at best, Naruto will be considered a mythological oddity, more still if everything goes about the same and he gets the Kyuubi sealed within him, and he'll get to grow up living in a world where he's different from anyone else, no one will be able to tell him what is happening to him when he hits puberty because no one will know, and he'll probably die off with lots of friends but no family since no one knows how or are unable to procreate with a male.
At worst, Naruto will be viewed as deformed at birth, which would result in the death of the babe in old days, or will grow up in a world where he is perpetually different and no one knows how to deal with it, so essentially he'll grow up about the same as he did with the Kyuubi, only he'll know exactly why everyone hates him, so learning he's the Jinchuuriki of the Kyuubi would be at best an "oh… whatever" moment, or at worst a "Wait, so they don't hate me because I'm deformed?" moment resulting in crushed hopes.
All these things taken into account, this story has a million ways in which it can be labeled as 'dark' and results in 'character death', and only one where it can be labeled as 'perseverance in the face of extreme diversity but still results in a sad end'. Honestly, the only way I can see this possibly having a happy ending is if Naruto finds a portal to a world with males and females and gets the heck out of dodge.
Now, if this were a 'Suddenly Naruto is the last male in the Elemental Nations', well, that would be different. How Naruto would deal with suddenly becoming the last hope of saving their species is interesting. Considering the world he's in, this could result in many women fighting and dying to mate with him, many attempted rapes, and once all the fighting dies down till the male/female ratio is more understandable, supposing Naruto is fighting for his right to copulate with who he loves instead of being the sex slave stud of the world, Naruto at least, is in the unique position of being one of the few men in fiction who could actually deal with such a situation without the species dying out completely from in fighting. How? Two words. Shadow clones.
This is assuming of course he doesn't just get killed by one of the nin who decide 'if I can't have him no one can.' Seriously, this is not a happy story prompt. Take your harem fantasies somewhere else.
