"What the hell?!" I threw my hands up as I spun around, my hand hitting a cable. "Ow!"
"Calm down, I'm not gonna hurt you. I just wanted to talk." He threw his blaster onto the captain's chair and put his hands up. "And, I'm gonna help save your friends, so it's like killing two birds with a stone."
"I know you're gonna do that," I muttered, sitting down on a seat on the side. "Are you trying to operate your emergency teleport or something?"
"Not emergency teleport per se, but a teleport." He flicked a couple of switches and twisted a knob, "It's gonna take a while,, though, I'll have to override the security to activate the teleport and turn on the nav comms. And no, it's not gonna take me a while to override my own protocols, this ship belongs to someone else so I'm overriding her protocols.."
"Which was why you used your vortex manipulator instead of the emergency teleport?"
"You're smart!" He turned around and grinned at me. I smiled back and he turned back to the main console of the ship. "It's also why I brought you here. I knew it would take time, meaning, I'll have time to talk to you without the others around."
I sighed, crossing my legs and resting my elbows on my knees, cupping my face in my palms. "Is this about what I said in the kid's room?"
"No, it's about me asking you why you're wearing an eagle t-shirt."
I scowled at him and he shook his head, "Of course it's about what you told me!"
"You wanna know how I knew."
"How did you know that?"
"Dude, are you joking? I know stuff about you that you've never shared with anyone before- well, except maybe John Hart, but that dude's whack. Also, I'm not sure how much he knows. But well, judging by- '' My eyes widened and I clamped my mouth shut. "Spoilers." He turned around and raised an eyebrow at that. "Also, I get asked this a lot," I shrugged.
He narrowed his eyes at me. "What do you mean? Are you some sort of omniscient person in the Time Agency nobody knows about?"
"Nah, those people sound crazy," I slid my legs down as he turned back to the console to override his protocols. "I'm just a normal person who got whisked out of her normal life in a parallel by her favourite fictional character into a fictional universe. Well, fictional in my perspective, anyway, because all of this is just a TV show where I come from. I know this might sound crazy, but-"
"It does, but judging by what I've seen today, I'm surprised I didn't expect it." He shrugged and turned back to the console.
I shrugged, and we sat down in silence for a few moments as he continued working on the console. I cleared my throat, "You're awfully calm, you know, judging by the fact that you just met someone who knows your past and your future."
"Probably because I don't know what to feel. On one hand, you know what's going to happen in my future, possibly even how I'm gonna die." I shuddered at that, hugging myself. "But you know my past. You know what happened to Grey. What I did to him."
I took a deep breath and nodded. "I understand. Well, ish. It kinda takes a while to sink in, you know, having someone know your future. And I've seen it first hand with the Doctor." I chuckled, trying to lessen the tension. "You should've seen him on our first few adventures."
Jack shrugged, not turning to look at me. "I mean, you're probably right. Maybe it just needs a little getting used to. Besides, freaking out at a time like this would not help anybody- especially the Doctor, judging by how much he seems to hate me."
"He doesn't hate you, he's just a little upset because Rose seems to be so moony eyed over you."
"You know, I really don't think that's the case."
"You danced with Rose on your spaceship and gave her some Spock, which she's been asking for ever since we landed here." He raised an eyebrow at that and I shook my head, "I mean, you scanned for alien tech. Also, have you looked at yourself in the mirror?"
He laughed, "You know, you're not so bad yourself." I grinned at that. He turned a few knobs and flicked a switch. "Almost there, and, viola! Fixed comms! All I need to do now is-"
The radio crackled to life and he started to speak into it. "Rose? Doctor? Can you hear me? We're back on my ship. Used my vortex manipulator. Sorry I couldn't take you. I had to talk to Liza about something."
"Oi, what have you done to her? I swear, if you've hurt her in any way-" I sighed in relief as I heard his voice. A weird feeling overtook me, almost as if I felt lighter. It was strange- almost like I was in a tense state, and then relaxed when I heard the Doctor. The strangest part was that I knew he was gonna be fine, but I had still been a little worried, by the looks of it.
I grabbed the Om Com thing from Jack. "No, no, Doc, I'm fine! He just wanted to talk."
"Talk about what?!"
"A thing." I shrugged. "Sorry, but that's his secret to share."
"But you're safe, right?"
"Perfectly safe."
"Are you really? Or is he just making you say that?"
"Doc, I swear, I'm fine! And you can trust Jack, I can't tell you why, because spoilers, but you really can."
"Good. Anyway, how are you even talking to us?"
"I'm-" Jack started speaking, but I cut him off as a feeling of frustration overtook me. What the hell was going on? Why was I feeling like that?
"Shut up, you're not gonna talk to anybody until you fix the damn teleport or whatever and get the two of them here." I scowled at him.
"Has anybody told you-"
"Did you not listen to what I said three seconds ago? Get on with it and shut up!"
Jack put his hands up with a sigh and turned around to override the security. "Oh, and Doc, we're Om Comming you, meaning we can communicate through anything with a speaker grill."
"The Child can Om Com too, can't he? There's a coincidence."
"Exactly. Conclusions?"
"The thing that affected him was Chula."
Jack looked up. "I told you-"
"And I told you to get on with it. I'll hear whatever you have to say later, unless it's you telling me the your medical transporter was harmless and not your fault, which is stupid because there's enough evidence that all of this is caused by the damn thing." I let out a breath and turned back to him. "Oh, and it kinda is your fault because you didn't check properly to see if there was something in there."
"Wait, if the child can Om Com, or wherever the hell Liza was talking about, then that means he can phone us?"
I bit my lip and facepalmed, my heart rate slowly rising again, my breaths quickening. How could I forget again?
"And I can hear you!" I closed my eyes and flinched, cursing softly. "I'm coming to find you! Coming to find you!"
"Sorry," I whispered sheepishly. "Jack, we need to block the signal till we teleport them here."
"I'll put on some music,"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," I ran a hand through my hair, walking around the ship. "Hurry up, though, I know they're gonna be alright in the grand scheme of things, but the sooner they get here, the better."
"You didn't tell me to shut up." Jack turned on Moonlight Serenade, and I turned around and scowled at him. "I don't know, this is stressful, just hurry up or I'll- I don't know, I'll do a thing or something after I'm not stressed- why am I freaking out so much when I know what will happen?!"
"I don't know, I'm a con man, not a mind reader."
I turned toward him and scowled. "That's not helping, you know,"
"Like I said, not a mind reader."
"Jack!" I glared at the back of his head for a moment and went back to pacing around the room. We were in silence for a few moments before Jack cleared his throat. "Okay, I think I have a theory."
"What theory?"
"About why you're worried."
"Yes?"
"Okay, you're really close to the Doctor and Rose, right?"
"Yeah."
"And you don't like it when they're in danger. So," He turned around, "What if you're worried about them because you don't want them freaking out over there even though you know what's gonna happen?"
I threw my hands up in the air and sat down on the seat on the side. "Maybe you're right, but that's not stopping me from worrying,"
He grinned at me and turned back again. "Maybe this will,"
"If he ever was a Captain, he's been defrocked." The Doctor and Rose appeared, in each other's arms, dancing. I stood up, a little shocked by the sudden(ish) appearance of the two of them. However, a metaphorical wave of relief washed over me as I saw them, safe and sound.
"Yeah? Shame I missed that," Rose said, and Jack frowned at her as he said, "Actually, I quit. Nobody takes my frock."
The Doctor and Rose seemed to be taken out of their- well, whatever that was, as the music turned off. The Doctor turned around to Jack, who was talking about how most people noticed when they got teleported. He then turned around, looking around frantically till he saw me, and pulled me into a hug. "Thank God you're alright," He murmured as he buried his head into my shoulder. "I was so worried about you. Thought he'd done something to you."
"You were in danger of being found by the gas masked patients and possibly being converted into them, and you were concerned about me?" I raised my eyebrows as I pulled away. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"You were worried about him, and he was worried about you," The Doctor and I looked over at Jack, who was smirking. "See? The circle of life."
"That's the Lion King." I said, and muttered, "And an accidental reference,"
Jack started laughing and pointed at us. "You guys are so sweet. Oh, and sorry about the delay. I had to take the Nav Comm offline to override the teleport security."
The Doctor let go of me and walked forward towards Jack. "You can spend ten minutes overriding your own protocols. Maybe you should remember who's ship it is."
"I do. She was gorgeous. Like I told her, be back in five minutes," He ducked under the console as the Doctor turned to me.
"This is a Chula ship, like the medical transporter."
"Only this one is dangerous."
"In face value," I muttered under my breath. Although, nobody seemed to hear me except for the Doctor, who frowned. He snapped his fingers, looking at the golden nanogenes clouding around his hand like fireflies. They looked like small suns, especially judging by the dark interior of the ship. I walked to stand next to the Doctor to look at the nanogenes in his hand.
"They're what fixed my hands up." Rose gasped. "Jack called them, er-"
"Nanogenes," I whispered, staring at them while keeping my distance.
The Doctor nodded, "Subatomic robots. There's millions of them in here, see?" He moved his hand around, the nanogenes flying around as he did so. I leaned back slightly to avoid touching them. "Burned my hand on the console when we landed." He showed us all his hand. "See? All better now. They activate when the bulkhead's sealed, check you out for damage, fix any physical flaws." He snapped his fingers again, and the nanogenes left him and went toward Jack before disappearing.
"Take us to the crash site. I want to see your space junk."
"As soon as I get the Nav Comms back online. Make yourselves comfortable."
"I'm just gonna go sit down," I walked back to the seat, "You both carry on with talking about dancing or whatever."
"It didn't look like talking," Jack said from underneath the console.
"It didn't feel like dancing," Rose protested, and the Doctor scowled. "I told you I don't dance."
"Well, you do. But you look like a drunk giraffe." I shrugged and crossed my legs.
"The hell are you talking about?" He scowled at me and I smirked at him. "Spoilers."
"I'm starting to hate that word," He grumbled, and sat next to me. I grinned at him, "That's why I love it," I said in a sing-song voice as he muttered something in a language I didn't understand. High Gallifreyan, perhaps. Well, who was I kidding? It probably was High Gallifreyan.
"So," Rose cleared her throat and turned to Jack, "You were a Time Agent, and now you're trying to con them?"
"If it makes me sound any better, it's not for the money."
"For what?"
"Woke up one day when I was still working for them, found they'd stolen two years of my memories. I'd like them back." He looked at me, and I shook my head.
"I don't know what you forgot. This was probably the only time it was ever mentioned. I'm sorry." I looked at the floor, pretending to be interested in my shoes when the Doctor took my hand and squeezed it in an attempt to comfort me, probably. If it was, it worked.
"They stole your memories?"
"Two years of my life. I have no idea what I did." He looked at the Doctor and back at Rose. "Your friend over there, he doesn't trust me, and for all I know, he's right not to."
At that moment, an alarm sounded, and Jack took a deep breath. "Okay, we're good to go. Crash site?"
A/N: Hey guys! Fun fact: this chapter actually went a lot more differently than I'd originally planned out. Mainly, Jack was pretty calm about the whole TV show thing. I mean, he's still calm now, but I did make him a little less trusting because I felt that was more realistic.
The next chapter will be the last one in this two parter, and after that, I'm probably going to have another original adventure, only it's not in the TARDIS and actually in another planet.
Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you all liked this chapter despite the fact that almost nothing happened in it!

NeoMulder: You're welcome :)! In regard to Rose, I don't think they would outright fight over him, but there will be some tension, especially after he regenerates. Also, regarding the Doctor, he really wasn't happy about this situation because 1) He didn't trust Jack, and 2) He was jealous lol.
