-Chapter-30-Sectionals part 1-

-Shelby pov-

Sectionals are finally here. McKinley is hosting and I'm so not ready. We were supposed to be in Indiana but there was a mold problem. I stupidly said we were prepared for them.

I had to get everything ready last minute with Judy. Thankfully it all looks amazing. I am just very tired right now though. Another plus is we are able to sing and then get off stage.

The club looks so ready to win. They all are so talented. I do notice Kitty and Marley are closer. I hope it is for good reasons that they are.

"Alright!" Holly walks over with a smile "It seems everything is about to start!"

"Great" I look at the club as everyone's eyes move to me "We are a great group alright? I believe that you all can get the win no problem! But I want you all to have fun as well..if you lose, you lose"

"Just try your best" The lights flicker and Judy opens the door "Go one and show them what you all got!"

"LETS GO MCKINLEY!" Blaine leads them out the door "WE ARE GOING TO WIN THIS AND HEAD INTO REGIONALS A WINNER!"

They all cheer as they follow after him. I smile and pull Holly into me. We follow them backstage and I see our soloist is already out there. Here starts the newest journey.

She starts to step out but then steps back. Everyone seems confused. I glare at Kitty who throws up her hands and seems innocent. I quickly make my way to her.

"I-I can't do this" Marley is close to tears "I'm not good enough to be the solo!"

"No you aren't good enough" She frowns and I cup her face "You are better than good! You have a future in singing Marley! The start of that journey starts tonight!"

"Do you really think so?" I nod and she smiles "The only person who's believed in me is my mom"

"You have a whole family with you two now" I let her go and point to the stage "Now go out there and sing your heart out"

She nods and the music starts. She takes a deep breath and walks out determined. I hope my words get her through this night. Because we really need her.

I don't think we can win without her singing for us.

-Marley singing-

You wait, little girl, on an empty stage

For fate to turn the light on

Your life, little girl, is an empty page

That men will want to write on

To write on

You are sixteen going on seventeen

Baby, itÂ's time to think

Better beware, be canny and careful

Baby, youÂ're on the brink

You are sixteen going on seventeen

Fellows will fall in line

Eager young lads and rogues and cads

Will offer you food and wine

Totally unprepared are you

To face a world of men

Timid and shy and scared are you

Of things beyond your ken

You need someone older and wiser

Telling you what to do

I am seventeen going on eighteen

IÂ'll take care of you

I am sixteen going on seventeen

I know that IÂ'm naive

Fellows I meet may tell me IÂ'm sweet

And willingly I believe

I am sixteen going on seventeen

Innocent as a rose

Bachelor dandies, drinkers of brandies

What do I know of those

Totally unprepared am I

To face a world of men

Timid and shy and scared am I

Of things beyond my ken

I need someone older and wiser

Telling me what to do

You are seventeen going on eighteen

IÂ'll depend on you

There's silence and I see her start to falter. She's about to step toward us when they erupt. A smile breaks across her face and I can't help but smile too. She bows as our duet goes out.

"I told you that you could do it" She nods and hugs me "You got talent kid"

"Thank you" She pulls back still smiling "Thank you for believe in me"

"I believe in all of you" She gives me another hug and I hold her close "You and your mom never have to worry again"

I look over and see the duo ready. The music starts and I know we are good now. Nothing can stop this group. I can't think of anyone who's be able to teach better than me.

-Blaine-Sam-Both-

Do you hear me, I'm talking to you

Across the water across the deep blue ocean

Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying

Boy, I hear you in my dreams

I feel your whisper across the sea

I keep you with me in my heart

You make it easier when life gets hard

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

They don't know how long it takes

Waiting for a love like this

Every time we say goodbye

I wish we had one more kiss

I'll wait for you, I promise you, I will

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

Lucky we're in love in every way

Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed

Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea

To an island where we'll meet

You'll hear the music fill the air

I'll put a flower in your hair

Though the breezes through the trees

Move so pretty you're all I see

As the world keeps spinning round

You hold me right here right now

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

I'm lucky we're in love in every way

Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed

Lucky to be coming home someday

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Ooooh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

The crowd erupts even louder as the whole group goes out. I smile as I see they are happy. They all seem so confident. I love seeing them all so happy.

"I was hoping the rumor wasn't true" I turn and see Jessie walking over "But hearing the talent I should've guessed it was"

"You finally got on at Vocal?" He nods and I hold out my hand "May the best team win Jessie"

"We will" He smirks and shakes my hand "Maybe I can get you a spot in regionals"

"Funny" We let go and turn toward the group "Just see how this goes"

"They are good" The crowd is losing it as they walk off "Stick around for my boy James solo"

I nod as the group comes back. I see Jessie direct some kids over and a boy walks onto the stage. The music starts and I keep my eyes on him. He looks like Jessie.

-James singing-

Well you only need the light when it's burning low

Only miss the sun when it starts to snow

Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low

Only hate the road when you're missing home

Only know you love her when you let her go

And you let her go

Staring at the bottom of your glass

Hoping one day you'll make a dream last

But dreams come slow and they go so fast

You see her when you close your eyes

Maybe one day you'll understand why

Everything you touch surely dies

But you only need the light when it's burning low

Only miss the sun when it starts to snow

Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low

Only hate the road when you're missing home

Only know you love her when you let her go

Staring at the ceiling in the dark

Same old empty feeling in your heart

Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast

Well you see her when you fall asleep

But never to touch and never to keep

Cause you loved her too much and you dived too deep

Well you only need the light when it's burning low

Only miss the sun when it starts to snow

Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low

Only hate the road when you're missing home

Only know you love her when you let her go

And you let her go

Ohhh, oh no

And you let her go

Ohhh, oh no

Well you let her go

Cause you only need the light when it's burning low

Only miss the sun when it starts to snow

Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low

Only hate the road when you're missing home

Only know you love her when you let her go

Cause you only need the light when it's burning low

Only miss the sun when it starts to snow

Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low

Only hate the road when you're missing home

Only know you love her when you let her go

And you let her go

The crowd erupts like they did for us and I gulp. All my confidence has gone down the drain. Vocal adrenaline is good. It's lead by a great singer I trained.

"This will be close" Jessie points for his duet to go out "Good luck Shelby"

"Yeah" I see my club is walking away "Good luck Jessie"
