Prompt #30: Expecting. Rating: K

Zigfried frowned, looking through the clothes racks. He and Critias were excited as they were expecting their first child, but Zigfried didn't want to pick out any clothes without some input from a third party. "Rosalie, vhat about this?" he asked, turning to the woman with him. She had pink-tipped blonde hair and blue eyes, and she smiled. "Zigfried, dear, you don't have to be so frantic about any of this…" she said calmly.

"Rosalie, you are 4 months pregnant vizh my and Critias' child! Ve need to make sure everyzhing is ready for vhen she is born!" Zigfried said, panicking slightly. Rosalie took a couple of steps forward and gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know Zigfried….. but we still have plenty of time to pick clothes and such! We've already got the furniture for the nursery, as well as supplies like diapers and bottles….." she said, smiling warmly.

Zigfried sighed. "I'm sorry…. It's just, you vere so kind as to volunteer to be our surrogate and carry our child….. ve vant to make sure you're both as comfortable as possible….. ve vant to make sure everyzhing is perfect….." he said, his shoulder slumping slightly. Rosalie watched him as he turned back to the clothes rack, the German trying to find some good clothes for their unborn daughter. She understood why has was acting the way he was. They had been trying to find someone for months to be a surrogate, and nobody but her would volunteer.

"Zigfried, why don't I help you look? I was thinking we could get some clothes in shades of purple…. You don't have to worry about the gendered stereotypes of the colors pink and blue, plus it's a perfect combination of your and Critias' signature colors!" she suggested, pulling a pretty lilac dress from the rack. Zigfried looked at the dress, thinking. "Purple….. why didn't I zhink of zhat!?" he said, grinning as he turned back to the rack.

Rosalie smiled and helped him pick out more clothing. She was happy to help him relax and find the perfect clothes for their child. They then moved to the toy section and began picking out toys they thought would be perfect. Rosalie knew Critias and Zigfried would make great parents, and she was happy to help them along the way.
