Part 5b – Snowbund

"I'm thirsty
- Snowbund, 3630 BBY shortly after arriving on Hoth

Odianark took a careful look around, finding a flashlight he turned it on as to not waken the sleeping woman nearby and looked closer at the shelf filled with what looked at first to be junk, and then he recognised the hilts.

He counted a half dozen lightsaber hilts. Recognising them all as belonging to his much younger cousin. Two of which seemingly crafted entirely from nothing but golden steel, a pair of gorgeous well kept Cathar Honor Swords, and finally his eyes fell upon the Cathar Warstaff

Then he remembered, Snowbund had made a point about taking up her baby sisters mantel when Ba'tija had gone missing with her twin sister Va'tania. Snowbund had to relearn everything there was about lightsaber fighting when using a staffsaber to do it.

Odi had to smile. Snowbund was a dangerous woman even when stone sober. He remebmered her inisiting they go into carbonite until they were needed by the galaxy. Cared for by the Jedi High Council. In his minds eye he saw it happen before him. Snowbund handing Satele a holocron, saying it would know when to wake them up. And Satele promising the Jedi would keep them safe.

Odi's ear twitched again and he turned off the flashlight as he saw the woman no the bed roll over. Knocking the holocron from the pillow onto the floor with a dull thud as it bounced briefly on the carpet. Odi sighed.

Alright, he thought. If I woke up and found my lightsabers here, and these are all Snowbunds lightsabers and both of her Honor Swords, then she's got to be here somewhere too. With that he turned on the flashlight again and started checking each carbonite block and slab statue.

Of course he was looking in the wrong place as a slab of carbonite began to thaw, leaning forwards as the carbonite slab was not on solid ground but actually threatening to fall to the floor with a resounding earth shattering smashing sound. Somehow Carbonite did not shatter upon any kind of impact with anything, even blasterfire.

So as Odi was on the wrong end of searching where he hoped to find his cousin, a slab of carbonite melted and fresh humid air filled the cathar womans nostrils as her lungs took in the fresh air.

Soundlesly the carbonite heated up and broke away in slush from the gray furred Cathar womans body. Allowing to her to fall freely to the ground.

But she did not hit the ground on all fours. No, Snowbund's slab of carbonite was tilted forwards, so instead of a simple drop to her knees upon the ground. She instead smashed face first onto a makeshit table, flipped it, and somehow did not wake up the sleeping woman on the sleeping pallet nearby.

The sound of course alerted Odi completely but it made him simle when he heard his cousin groan and say one word.

"... Ow..."

Odi kept his mouth shut to keep from busting out in laughter as Snowbund laid on the floor in a heap, busted table on her back like a jagged blanket. She spotted her cousin standing nearby looking at her. "Odi, why does this not smell like Tython or Zakuul ?" Snowbund asked.

Odi was about to reply when Snowbund then grunted, pushing off from the floor. Before faceplanting again. "I'm Thirsty" She mumbled softly.

Holy Sith did she still stink.

Odi steeled his nostrils and went to help his cousin to her feet. Once the other Cathar was stable, Odi knew she'd go sniffing right off the docket for the nearest possible cantina. But there was a few things they had to do first.

In this case, find out where they were, and if any of the others were in the carbonite with them. "OK cousin" Snowy finally said after she got her hammered head focused enough to see thast it was dark as hell, and there was someone asleep nearby because she heard snoring ?

"Is Carti here ? What about Budget ?" Snowy always refered to Bodgey as Budget mostly because of the times of handling all of Snowys money issues for a few weeks. Which earned her the nickname.

Odi shook his head and softly replied "I dont know, so far just you. I havent found anyone else. Most of these carbonite slabs are storage for items, so far you're the only other person in the stack. Execept for those two." He jerked his head towards the glass table that Lakota had set up.

Snowy took all of one step, dropped to her hands and knees and crawled to the two carbonite blocks. Looking at the information panels it appeared the inhabaited prisoners were infact quite dead judging by the lack of power. Flashfrozen, long dead.

She did not recognise either name. But at Odi's unasked question and expression, she shook her head, both people were long dead.

Snowy then spotted the cooler and crawled for it. Once more mumbling only loud enough for Odi to hear as Lakota snored. "I'm thirsty..." She opened the cooler, the light within it was dim, but not too dark, but it was enough for her to not see anything alcoholic. She closed it dejectedly and sat on the floor, her back resting against the cooler door.

She finally got a look around. "Odi"

"Yeah, cuz ?" Came the reply.

"Why are my lightsabers on a bookshelf ?" Snowy raised a hand, and as if on their own accord the hilts gently lifted off the shelf and floated into her hands, Each hilt found its proper place on her belt. Finally she spotted the warstaff and both honor swords.

A pang hit her heart hard as she remembered being given the warstaff and both honor swords. She sighed and pulled herself to her feet. Quietly going to the shelf she reached for the warstaff.

And as she picked up the warstaff, a new voice broke in.

It was the voice of a very confused, and very sleep deprived young woman. "Who are you and how did you get into my home ?" Odi put his hands up as Lakota had a blaster in her hand and was pointing it at him. Snowy never turned around at the question.

Lakota then saw that Snowbund, and Odi both had their lightsabers on their belts. And that the woman was putting the warstaff on her back into a strange holder. Almost magnetic, designed to hold the staff to keep it out of the way. The two war swords were also picked up. "What are you doing with my stuff ? Are you theives ? How did you get in here ? What do you want ?!"

Rapid questions. And none of them were easy to answer. Mostly because Lakota caught wiff of Snowbunds impressive reeking smell and started gagging until she hit th vent controls to air the room out.

Finally once the room was aired out and Lakota had some sembilence of self control she repeated her question. This time asking "Who are you, how did you get in here ?"

Snowbund and Odi traded looks. It was Odianark that spoke. "My name is Odianark, this is my cousin, Snowbund. As to how we got in here, we were in there" He jerked a thumb at the stacks of carbonite slabs. "Somehow we were thawed out."

"Alright that explains two things, now onto more questions." Lakita mumbled, She then asked "What do you want, and why are you wearing my stuff ?"

"Your stuff ?" Snowbund asked, confusion in her voice, but then she realised what the human woman meant. "Oh, our lightsabers and swords."

"Your what ?" Lakota asked, Odi was about to reply when it dawned on her who she was talking with. "So you're Jedi ?"

"Yup" Snowbund replied as Odi just nodded. "Where did you find my lightsabers,... our lightsabers ?" Snowbund asked her as she corrected herself slightly to include Odi in the question

"Most of the time I stole them from Imperial transport rocket trams or right out of Jedi Museums." lakota said as she sat on her bed looking at both Jedi before her. "Most of the time the Imps were upset I stole them, but sometimes never bothered to give chase. At least until I stole the weird gold embossed cube"

"Gold embossed Cube ?" Odianark asked her

Lakota nodded and fished around before falling off the bed to pick up the holocron. "When I stole this off that rocketram two months ago, the Empire put out an Zero Line Security warrant for my arrest or the recovering of this." She held up the holocron, Snowbunds holocron as she spoke. "But I never gave myself up, The Empire would never find me on Corellia or any other planet."

She set the holocron on the table. The un-damaged table and smirked. "After two weeks the Zero Line changed to a White Line warning poster on the holonet. Basically it means any information leading to my arrest, well, there was a reward for it. But not even the Selonians will take up the Empire on that kind of thing. Now, Lady Proxima and her freakshow of the White Worms might, or rather would turn me in for the reward but keep the block in a vault somewhere. But they cant get past the Selonians down here"

"White Worms ?" Odianark asked

"Yeah, They're a huge gang here on Corellia, they take in everyone without families, mostly runaways, and make them into beggars, scrumrats they call them. Anything they find they give to lady Proxima who then gives them room and board in her hideout." Lakota explained.

"Wonderful" Snowbund grumbled. First she eliminated the Sith Emperor before going on ice, next thing she knew, the White Worms were still haunting Corellia. She turned to leave, the clock said it was just past four in the afternoon.

"Where are you going ?" Lakota asked as Odi watched his cousin.

Snowbund stopped at the door, she did not want to force her way out. No, if anything she could tell that Lakota did not want to get found by anyone and that the human also trusted the Selonians in the tunnels to protect her from the White Worms. "I'm thirsty"

"Good luck with that" Lakota said, "You walk around wearing those on your belt and acting like you own the place, and the Empire's troops would be on your asses faster than you can say 'Cucamunga'" Lakota told her

Snowbund tilted her head and looked back at Lakota in confusion. But it was Odi that asked the question. "What's a Cucamunga ?" Lakota smirked.

This was going to be fun to explain for sure
