Chapter 30

It was night time and everyone came together to hunt any new breed of vampires made by Drake. So far they were only here in the city and none have relocated outside of L.A. Buffy did come back putting her feelings aside focusing on what needed to be done. Leah was a little annoyed with her brother hearing him complain about his feet hurting. "You know it hasn't been five minutes and you're already bitching," Leah looked at her brother.

"My feet hurt," he whined.

Everyone else stayed silent listening to them. "You're such a whiney ass," Leah said annoyed.

"Screw you," Derek said still walking.

"Whatever," she bickered at him.

Angel shook his head at them still walking behind them while Spike was walking on the otherside of Leah listening to them finding their bickering funny.

"Ok split up Derek go with Spike and Leah and we will go elsewhere," Angel ordered.

"We meeting back somewhere?" Derek asked him.

"Here," Angel answered him.

A vampires came in front of them and Leah went to stake him seeing he wouldn't die. She attacked him while Spike lit a lighter lighting a paper on fire throwing it on him watching the fire spread. Derek had one of Angel's swords he borrowed decapitating him as he withered to dust once the fire burned through him.

"One down and plenty more to go," Leah looked at the guys.

"There's more around, I can sense it," Spike said looking around.

There were more vampires that had come out some were the ones they were familiar with mixed with some of Drake's newer ones. Spike was much stronger than them easily killing them one by one after tossing one match after another at them. Leah fought a few throwing lighter fluid on them. They got through at least ten vampires so far of Drakes.

"It's nice you got a vampire for a husband. He can kill just about anyone," Derek said impressed.

"I'm strong too but Spike definately beats me in the strength department." Leah said watching burn the last vampire.

Spike heard her walking towards them. "No man could protect her like I can," he said to Derek looking at her.

"Among other things," she kissed his cheek. Spike smiled at that following her while they kept walking. They met up with Angel, Buffy, and Riley at the park where they started.

"How many?" Leah asked them.

"Eleven," Buffy answered her.

"Ten here," Derek spoke.

"Is that even close to what you ran into?" Spike questioned Riley.

"I don't know I couldn't count."

"Tomorrow night we do the same thing," Angel ordered. Everyone saw it was getting late heading home for the night. Spike took Leah's hand walking with her. Riley and Derek went to the bar.

Leah unlocked the door letting her and Spike in shutting the door behind them. She took off her jacket wincing a little bit. There was a scratch on her arm from fighting. Spike looked at it grabbing something to clean her arm up. He put a bandage over it to keep it covered. "I didn't even know it was there," Leah looked at him.

"You have a high tolerance for pain," Spike seemed impressed.

"Yeah something like that." His hand rubbed along her face.

"I remember what you said to Angel in his office, your words mean a lot to me," Spike said appreciating what she said.

"I meant every word."

His arms went around her pulling her in a hug. "I know." Spike loved that fact that she wasn't afraid to be seen with him. Leah treated him like a normal person and not like a thing.

"Vampire or not you still have your human instincts. You have your advantages with women, I catch them looking at you," she pulled back to look at him.

"Your kindness, love, everything you do makes me love you even more," he held her.

"I think you've told me that before." Leah got in her pajamas while Spike got into the bed. She climbed in lying next to him.

"You've shown me what love means, " he kissed the top of her head.

"You are so sweet," she snuggled up to him.

"Glad you think so, no woman has giving me a chance to see how good of a man I can be." His hands brushed through her hair.

"Well that's there loss and my gain." He smiled at that kissing her lips.

They both were cuddling being all lovey towards eachother. They would talk while he would steal a kiss. Eventually both of them drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.

Spike awoke to his wife still sleeping. He watched her placing a kiss on her head. Marriage was different to him but he was getting use to it. He always wanted someone to be with who would be honest and faithful to him. Thinking back about his past relationship with Dru or attempts with Buffy all seemed to be a memory to him. None of the feelings he had for them was none existent. Time had changed for him as well realizing there was more to life than being lonely. He had matured a lot since his past events he had faced.

Leah's phone rang and Spike picked it up seeing it was Angel calling. "Hello?" He answered.

"Spike?" Angel said surprised he answered the phone.

"Yes it's me, Leah is asleep."

"I was just going to tell her to come in later this afternoon." Angel said in the phone.

"I'll tell her," Spike hung up the phone.

"Spike am I late?" Leah woke up yawning.

"You don't need to come in until later this afternoon," he snuggled up to her.

"More time to snuggle," She held him.

He kissed her wrapping his arms around her. "Sounds good to me,"

"We're not just going to be lying here are we?" He smiled at her.

The way he smiled at her almost made her melt. Everything about him was perfect, the way he looked at her, the way he touched her. She wrapped her arms around him kissing him deeply. He felt his need growing as he held her close to him. Spike pulled back to look at her breathing heavily. "You're a tease."

They made love holding each other and pleasing one another. Everything was so loving and gentle toward one another. This lasted a long time until they finished catching their breath. "I can't help that you're so hot," Leah kissed his cheek.

"Glad you think so love," his hand rubbed along her face.

Leah's phone started to ring "Yeah?" She answered.

"Need you to come in sooner than I thought," Angel said in the phone.

"Ok be there soon." Leah hung up. "Got to get to the office." Spike kissed her cheek letting her get ready. Both of them got ready for the day heading to the office. Angel had Leah help fix his computer that was acting up.

She finished up then sat in the chair in front of him. "I'm getting reports that these vampires are killing more people than creating more. The numbers aren't as high," Leah said reading a statement.

"Who gave that to you?" Spike asked her.

"A person that wanted to remain anonymous." She looked at him.

"The hard part is figuring out how to get rid of Drake," Angel said hesitant with this whole thing.

Leah looked through the file trying to find out more information. Figuring this all out was almost a headache to her. "We've been through every book there is," Leah said moving the stack aside on the ground next to Angel's desk.

"Looks like we will be looking at books from the library tonight," Angel insisted.

Spike scooted close to Leah helping her going through stuff. "So tell me what's going on with you and Buffy?" Leah asked Angel.

"We're just friends even though we well," he hesitated.

"Funny, it didn't seem like it." Spike looked at him.

"You two are complicated." Leah shook her head. "If Spike was as complicated as you two I would have been gone a long time ago."

Spike snickered at that a little. "Not if I would have pestered you enough."

Leah looked at him rolling her eyes getting up leaving the room. Her actions didn't seem to phase him at all. "Where are you off to love?" Spike asked her.

"I'm leaving you for a soda, don't get too emotional," she said sarcastically.

Leah came back into the room handing some stuff to Angel. Angel stepped out caring the paperwork out with him. Spike watched her go through stuff on the table. Leah walked towards him grabbing something, he grabbed her arm. "Spike not now," she sighed.

He looked directly at her. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm just busy," she sighed.

Spike didn't believe her at all knowing she was a little stressed out. Between trying to hunt at night and keep up with other things it was starting to get to her a little. He took her stuff setting it off to the side. "You have to try to calm down."

He sat her on his lying his arm down on her lap. "Sometimes, I wonder if anything would have happened if I didn't come back. I would have known everyone was safe, things were so different there."

"Selfishly, I would have pulled you out eventually," Spike admitted.

"For some strange reason I can see you doing that." He leaned in kissing her on the lips.

"I'm not the same man I was before you met me."

"I know." They both were about to kiss again until Derek barged in the door. Spike looked his direction seeing him sitting in front of them.

"Come up with anything?" Leah asked him.

"Not yet." He said looking through a book.

"Let me guess vampire books for dummies." LEah sighed.

He rolled his eyes reading through it. "Nice try it's something I found at the book store, thought it might help."

"Legends." Leah read.

"Legends of what?" Spike wondered.

"All about vampires."

Leah laid her head in Spike's shoulder. "We're doomed."

He kissed the top of her head then turned his attention to her brother. "Let's hope she's wrong mate."

"Spike, you're not helping." He snickered at her a little.
