Kenickie's POV
It was day of the dance-off so I got dressed and went to pick Cha-Cha up and Jan up, Putzie's told me her address. So once we arrived to Putzie's house, we all walked inside. "Hello Mr. and Mrs. J." I greeted them as I gave them hugs.
"Hello Kenneth." Mrs. Jacobs said giving me a kiss on the cheek. "How are you?"
"I'm alright, oh Aunt Peyton and Uncle Peter, this is Jan Barrow, Putzie's date and this is Charleen DiGregorio" I told them.
They both smiled at the girls.
"Well it's nice to meet you Charleen." Mrs. Jacobs said hugging them both.
"And it's nice to see you again, Jan." Mr. Jacobs.
"You too." Jan smiled.
"Is Babyface ready?" I asked.
"He's upstairs getting ready." Mr. Jacobs replied.
I chuckled as I went up to Putzie's room to see him getting ready.
"No fair, you look more adorable than I do." I said as he turned to me.
He chuckle at me.
"You look handsome, in a brotherly way what I'm saying." He told me.
I laughed.
"You're such a Putz." I smirked.
He playfully rolled his eyes at me.
"Are the girls here?" He asks.
"Yes and Jan looks great too." I winked at him.
"Great!" He said as we went downstairs.
"Aw my baby boy looks so handsome." Mrs. Jacobs says.
"Thanks mom." Putzie said hugging her.
"Putzie, will you be my prom date?" Pammy asked him.
"Smart kid." I said meaning she won't get any boyfriend when she gets older.
Hey, it's part of being a big brother.
"Of course baby sis." Putzie said kissing her head.
"Ok kids, let's take the picture." Mr. Jacobs said.
"You look great Jan." Putzie smiled at her.
"You too." She said.
Then we all smiled for the picture and we said goodbye as we got in mine car and drove of, then we all arrived at the dance as we got out.
"Alright Babyface, Jan, go dance ya heart out." I told them.
Putzie smiled at me as I patted the back of his head.
"Thanks Kenicks." Jan smiled as they held hands.
"Don't do anything I'd do." I winked at him.
Putzie chuckled.
"Bye Kenickie." He smirked.
We watched them walked off.
"Let's go Charleen." I said putting my arm around.
I knew I shouldn't asked Cha-Cha but I had too, cause Rizzo with that creep craterface! I just hope she's doesn't try to flirt with Zuko though.
"Aright, kids. I want a big circle. C'mon on boys and girls, we are going on the air very shortly. But first, some warm-up numbers with Johnny Casino and the Gamblers." The guy from the national bandstand said announced, he ushers us all in a big circle which gives a very huge space in the gym, he says and we all cheered loudly excited to be on television nationwide.
So both me and Cha-Cha kept on dancing, kind of making out. We both stood up to dance again, so we kind of slow danced Doody's favorite song, Those Magic Changes, Doody would ALWAYS sings that. Oh like I said, gotta love that adorable Howdy Doody! Then we wanted to take a break, so we stand by the snacks stand as I glanced over to see Putzie and Jan walking over us.
"Hey Babyface, you guys havin' fun?" I asked.
"Yep!" He grinned.
I smiled at him as we saw Frenchy and Doody walked over to us.
"You doin' great Howdy Doody!" I called out to him as he smiled at me.
I saw Danny and Sandy dancing towards us, so I tapped on his shoulder.
"Hey, Zuko! Zuk! Zuk!" I called out. "I want you to meet Cha Cha DiGregorio."
I saw him pacing back and forth trying to avoid Cha-Cha.
"How ya doing Zuko, baby?" Cha-Cha purred.
"Fine." Danny replied.
Then Doody asked, "Who is she?"
"They call me Cha-Cha, because I'm the best dancer at St. Bernadette's." Cha-Cha bragged to us.
"With the worst reputation." Frenchy finished.
Cha-Cha shot Frenchy a glare.
"Let's go Sandy." Danny said immediately takes Sandy by her hand away from us to go back to the dance floor.
"Let's go Charleen." I said taking Cha-Cha's hand as we danced again.
"Who was that girl?" Cha-Cha asked me.
"She is Danny's girlfriend." I told her.
"But she looks so…pure." She stated.
"Let's just dance ok." I said as I gave her a winked.
She giggled.
"Kenickie, you are a sexy babe." She winked.
I growled as we danced again. I led her to the line of girls where I would stand across from her in a line of boys. It's a dance were a couple comes down the line while we dance.
"I'll look after Sonny, you two go." I told Doody.
He smiled at me as he Frenchy did the stroll. I saw Putzie and Jan danced and I slapped Putzie's butt for good job…If that make sense? By the end of the song, she shushes everyone and shouts "The Rydell fight song!" Most of the student body cheered, except us. I was like... Ok... Let's go with the new arrangement to the song we hate so much and then McGee and couch Calhoun walked down the hall to the front and climbed up to the stage. "When you're finished." She said.
A voice in the crowd shouted, "We're finished!"
I whispers something in Danny's ears, but he probably did hear me, he just nodded his head.
She continues, "You will be happy to know that I am not judging the dance contest." We started cheering. "I think we owe a round of applause to Patty Simcox and Eugene Felisnick and committee for their beautiful decorations!"
"LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE TOILET PAPER!" I hear Sonny shout out loud and got us cheering again.
I chuckled at him, that's my Sonny-Boy!
Again, she continues, "In a few moments, the entire nation will be watching Rydell High." She sighs, "God help us. And I want you all to be on your best behavior."
Sonny shouts, "NO HEINIE BITING!" And we all laugh.
"And now, here he is, the prince of the platters, Mr. Vince Fontaine!" Miss McGee announced to us.
McGee shouted his name again, and he comes down the middle with a bunch of crazy fans jumping at him and touching him. He comes up on stage and then starts doing his famous kicks to the drum beat sound. We all started screaming.
"Hi kids! Hey, it's great to be here at Rydell High! What's your name sweetheart?" He asks McGee, and we all laugh again.
She comes back to the mic. "Now, for the rules." Oh great. There are rules.
A guy in the crowd shouted. "Up the rules!"
Couch Calhoun came back to the mic and recites, "Game rule one. All couples must be boy-girl. Alright! Alright! Alright! Come on!" Couch Calhoun continues, "Game rule two, during the dance contest, if you're tapped on the shoulder, you must leave the floor immediately, or else. I mean it."
And McGee took the mic to finish, "And rule three, anyone doing tasteless, or vulgar movements, will be disqualified." Then we start booing.
Couch Calhoun asked them, "Can we keep it clean, please? Let's keep it clean."
The same guy from before rushes past him, "20 seconds!"
Vince takes the mic and says quickly as possible.
"Thank you fans and friends, odds and ends and now for you gals and guys, a few words to the wise. You Jim and Sals are my best pals. And to look your best for the big contest, just to be yourselves and have a ball. That's what it's all about after all! So forget about the camera, and think about the beat. We'll give the folks at home a real big treat. Don't worry about where the camera is, just keep on dancin, that's your biz. Hey if I tap your shoulder move to the side. Let the others finish the ride!" He said.
I nudged Danny and he leaned in so I can whispers.
"Dan-O, I'm so sorry." I said. "I really hope Sandy doesn't expects a thing."
He just nodded his head and held her in his arms.
"Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five! Four! Three! Two! One!
Bam! We're now officially live on television!
Vince talks to the camera. "Hello! Welcome to National Bandstand, coming to you live from Rydell high school! This is the event you've all been waiting for, the national dance off. And away we go with Johnny Casino and the gamblers." Then they started playing "Hound Dog" by Elvis. Vince comes back the camera. "Now to the event you've all been waiting for, the 'National dance off!' Some lucky guy and gal is gonna go bopping home with some fabulous prizes. But don't feel bad if I bump you out, cause it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's what you do with your dancing shoes. Hey does everybody here know Marty?" He added. "Ok cats! Throw your mittens around your kittens, and away we go!" And quick as soon as the music started, we immediately started dancing again.
Cha-Cha and I were doing the hand-jive, then we saw Venice walking between us and I said something and he walked between Danny and Sandy, so I walked over to them still dancing and I gave Sandy a smile.
"Hey," I smiled at her. "How are ya?"
"Fine." She smiled back.
"Good." I said, giving her nod.
I pat Danny's arm as Cha-Cha and I went back to dancing. Then I saw Leo and Rizzo, so I walked over to them and pushed Leo as we started punching each other, but was pulled away and I dragged Cha-Cha to the center of the gym as we danced and then I felt her dragged me to the other side.
"Kenickie, I have a confession." She said.
"What's up?" I asked as I kissed her neck.
"I only used you just get too Danny." She admits, that bitch!
"Well princess, I've never liked you anyway." I said to her before walking off and I stood next to Doody as I saw Patty and Tom dancing in the center, so I came sliding behind Patty and pulling up her dress making everyone laughed. Then I danced and got down on the floor.
"No, no, don't. Bad boy! Not here!" I heard Blance yelled.
I rolled over and stood up while taking my jacket off as I walked out to the hall.
"Why?" I asked frustrated while looking up.
So I walked down the hall, running my hand through my hair as I walked outside to my car and drove home, depressed and angry. Then I walked inside, running upstairs to my room as I shuts the door and got ready for bed.
"Hey kiddo," I heard my dad called out. "You alright in there?"
"Yeah, just tired." I yelled. "I'll tell you about it in the morning."
"Alright kid, sleep tight!" I heard him as I let out a sigh.
"Kay!" I yelled out.
So I brushed my teeth before getting into bed feeling angry, betrayed and depressed. Finally I got fall asleep.
