Chapter 28: A Wolf-like Pregnancy

I felt myself laid across a couch with a towel over my forehead and a blanket laid over my body. I heard a man chuckling in the background and the more I focus, I could hear Sue saying in the background, "I don't know why you see this amusing Old Quil."

I stirred, trying to slowly get up as I felt Leah gently holding me by the arm as I got up from the couch but still sitting on it. It seemed like Leah dressed me because I had an old t shirt and rolled up sweatpants on.

I immediately went to touch my stomach and Yup, still there. Still small, round and warm.

Sue kneeled down before me and gave me tea to drink. She gently placed her arm to my shoulder and asked, "how are you feeling sweetie?"

I said slowly looking at her as I drank the tea, " I am okay.. still spooked though" as I looked down at my small baby bump. I heard a man chuckling and it was Billy across the table in his wheelchair with amusement in his eyes. Old Quil sitting right across from him and he also had amusement in his eyes. If I am not mistaken, they came over once I passed out from the last time that I remember.

I looked at them confused and asked, "How long was I out?"

Billy said, "I believe it has been two hours, I presume Sue?"

Sue nodded. Seth was sitting at the other side of the couch, still shock of my pregnancy development. He doesn't even know how to handle of this. Same here man.. Same here I thought to myself.

Old Quil was the first one to speak, and he said, "I had my suspicions for a while now and I was waiting for this to happen before I say anything, but I didn't think the spirits will bless this new pack triplets as the first pack offsprings." He chuckled at the last part. Ah, so that was so funny to both of them.

I asked curiously, "If I may ask, you had suspicions since when? How come you didn't tell me?"

Old Quil said, "remember the third wife story?"

I said with realization, "oh...she had many sons ... wait so does this mean that the peacemaker has high fertility?" I said the last part with a higher pitch.

Old Quil nodded, "that's right."

Oh, Isn't that wonderful. I thought sarcastically.

I added, "but I have been using birth control. How is this even possible? I haven't had my menstrual since I started taking the birth control and the other signs that I was pregnant, it was masked with other things that happened the past few days. That is why I didn't connect the dots until I saw this" as I pointed to my stomach.

Old Quil continued, "I started having suspicious when Paul told me the scenario of how you guys completed the claiming ritual. For his wolf spirit to actually seek the cave and completed the ritual on my..well the ancestor's blanket, the wolf spirit wanted to..um. impregnate you. Then, for it to be done on the full moon, it made it more certain."

I asked, "what makes the full moon so special?"

He replied, "The full moon is where the wolf spirit is more surfaced to the shapeshifter, and not only that, but it's also when there was more magic present in the world. Then sealing the ritual in the cave where ancient magic lies as well, it made even more certain that you would be getting pregnant that day. Even though you were intentional to not get pregnant, the Spirits had a different plan instead."

I said, "So, Paul's wolf spirit knew I was on birth control, he just needed magic even with the Spirit's backing him up to override the effects of the birth control?"

He nodded simply, "Yes."

Wow. That conniving wolf knew exactly what he was doing. Hah, I remember in the Paul remember that the wolf doesn't get the concept of birth control. Oh he knew, he just didn't care because he knew it won't be stopping him from impregnating me.

I asked, "so even if I were to take birth control after I give birth, I would still get pregnant whether it is the will of the spirits or not?"

He nodded, "Yes, unlike those who are not an imprint.. As the peacemaker blessed with high fertility and a mate of a strong shapeshifter, the spirits decides when you will bear more offsprings."

I leaned back in the couch, shook from the news. I sighed when Leah said bitterly, "..Wow. Ale gets screwed over by the spirits again. First time, she had to have sex to not die, and now she can't even control her own reproductive system and is forced to keep having kids when she doesn't want them?"

I didn't respond because I had no words to combat that. However, seeing where she is coming from, I think my situation confirmed to her more that there wasn't wrong with Leah's reproductive system, and the spirits were in control of her cycle not just because her wolf spirit is a female wolf spirit. My theory that her menstrual cycle is in sync with a female wolf menstrual cycle is becoming more certain now. I could sense that she was thinking that as well, and that is what angering her more than upset with my situation. I am not upset with that. I actually feel sorry with her not for her. There is a difference. I would be angry too if I were her.

Billy then said calmly, "Leah..the spirits won't bless Ale with children if she and Paul aren't ready for them. Don't see this as a curse or the spirits are being malicious. They bless accordingly to the situation and the people. .It seems like they deemed Ale and Paul ready to start bearing offsprings..unlike others"

Oh..I had an idea who they were referring to. Yikes on them.

".It was probably the spirits blessing Paul, Sam, and Jared with their business flourishing as Paul and Ale would need the income to take care new wolf pups coming to the pack."

Leah was fuming silently with her shoulder trembling in rage, and she turned to me and said, "Aren't you upset? How can you be taking this calmly, Ale?"

I said wearily, "this is bigger than both of us Leah..I am upset with the situation too, but there isn't anything I can do about it except.. accept it. Even though I am slowly growing used to living in this world, don't forget that I was forced to come here against my will. So I do have the right to be angry and very upset with the spirits. However, I learned that..instead of mourning and being bitter of the injustice that has been done against me, make the best of the situation that I am in. I deserved to be happy, but even though I don't always agree to the spirits way of doing things or understand them at times, but I do have to trust them. My life is in their hands. ..I am overwhelmed and a little upset..so it's going to take some time to get used.. to this new step in my life." I looked down on my stomach, and softly caressed it as the reality of my pregnancy was slowly registering my mind.

Old Quil said, "the peacemaker has spoken wisdom. It will be good to listen to her, Leah."

I frowned, "How come I am showing this quickly? I know I'm bearing triplets, but it shouldn't be until like a month later or so? The babies even have almost the same temperature as Paul."

Old Quil's eyes widened slightly and said, "Oh really now? I was contemplated of why you are showing this quickly, but they have the same temperature as Paul? That is very interesting."

He hummed, pondering as he stared at me until he saw a peak of my claim mark through my shirt. He asked, "May I take a look at the claim mark?"

I nodded, and I turned over, flipping my long, curly hair to the side and showed everyone my mark.

Seth was the first one to say, "Wow, that looks so cool. It looks like a tattoo of an eclipse!" while the adults just looked gaping at it.

Old Quil's expression changed into an understanding so he said bluntly, "That is a very interesting claim mark. How did Paul claim you when he bit you and sealed the ritual physically? Did he do it in his human form?"

Trying not to be embarrassed as I could see Seth's face was blushing slightly, I frowned, "No. For both times that he bit me, he partially phased and he was still partially phased when he..uh sealed the ritual physically."

Then it hit me, and Old Quil noticed my expression, so he said eagerly, "Tell me. I believe we are on the same page on this."

I said slowly, "..because he was still partially phased when ..he sealed the ritual physically, the babies are more wolf?"

Seth exclaimed excitedly, "He partially phased! WOW! The only one I know who can do that is Sam. Not even Jacob had done that yet. Uh, whoops. Sorry you can continue."

Old Quil ignored Seth with Leah whacking him in the head for interrupting Old Quil. He nodded, "Yes..that explains the fast pregnancy. Your pregnancy is more mirrored to a female wolf's pregnancy now. But to explain why they share the same temperature as Paul, the only conclusion I could think of is that they are showing signs early on that they will be shapeshifters in the future."

I replied, "So..I would give birth what like in a month and half later?"

He nodded very seriously, and I started laughing hysterically, and all the adults looked at me with a concerned expression.

Leah said, "Girl. How is this even funny?"

I said trying to catch my breath, "No, not like that. It's just this is too incredible. I can't handle this" and I started weeping at the end.

I sobbed, "I'm ..I'm sorry. This is just too much for me" and Sue sat next to me as both Sue and Leah put their arms on my shoulder. Sue was rubbing circles around my back until I calmed down.

I sniffed, "How far along am I though?"

Sue said warmly, "I can check for you. I am a nurse and midwife. If you are okay with it, how about I take you to your room, and I check how far along you are?"

Billy said, "That would be wise thing to do. Since Sue is the only nurse who knows the secret, it will be best to have her monitor you during your pregnancy."

I slowly stood up, and I said, "I agree, but I would need to see if Paul and his wolf will be comfortable with her."

Billy nodded in agreement, "Of course."

Both Sue and I went to her room, and from the closet, she brought out her nursing bag

She asked me gently, "Can you lie down the bed as I check you down there? It would hurt a little, and I promise to be as gentle as possible."

I laid down, took my sweatpants and panties down, and opened my legs for her. I flinched when her gloved hand went inside. Sue was thinking hard from the look of her expression until her eyes lightened up. She slowly pulled her hand out and threw the gloves into a trash can.

She said, "This is a rough estimate since I don't have all the equipment with me at the moment, but from the looks of your womb, you are still in the first trimester and roughly about 6 weeks along. Once Paul comes back, we can go to the local clinic and make sure."

Wow..So by the time Paul comes back like in four days, I would be like 7 ½-8 weeks along?

I nodded slowly, and asked, "Okay, but why am I so..round? I get that I am carrying triplets, but it still looks a little bigger than normal."

She placed her hand gently on my bump, and said, "That is true. There isn't a precise reason. Some have a small belly, others have it low, high, and larger than normal. For your case, it would be larger. It probably genetics on your side. Has anyone in your family had an enlarged belly in their pregnancy?"

I said, "Oh yeah. My mom did with me."

She nodded, and we both got out of the room. Everyone's head turned to us, and Sue said, "She is roughly about 6 weeks along, but like I told her, I am not certain until we can really check in the clinic later on."

Sue told Old Quil and Billy everything, and they both nodded in understanding.

Billy said, "Are you going to call Paul, Ale?"

I sighed, "Yeah, I have to. He has the right to know. I would prefer to wait until he gets back, but knowing him, it will piss him off even more. Also, I don't want him hearing about it from someone else."

Sue said, "Okay, but first this mama needs some food in her system for the babies. I have breakfast made for everyone, let's eat and do that afterwards." Sue went to serve breakfast to everyone on the table, and I ate. Leah's eyes light up silver and said, "Eat more" and filled up my plate more to have another serving. I ate comfortably though, and I even got myself a third plate with Old Quil observing me silently from his gaze.

Don't know what's that about.

Sue then shooed me to go back to the couch as she, Leah, and Seth were cleaning up. Seth left to go drop off Old Quil and Billy back home in Sue's truck.

I stared at the phone, staring at Paul's contact as I was contemplating on how to even explain all of this to him. Leah sat down next to me, and looked at me with a bored expression, waiting for me to start calling him.

I heard Leah sigh exasperatedly, and she pressed my thumb on the button and it started calling Paul.

I exclaimed, "Leah!"

She shrugged, "What? You were taking too long, but now you gotta deal with him" and said the last part cheekily.

I heard Paul picked up and there were loud construction noises in the background. I heard some shouting until it got quiet, and Paul finally answered hurriedly, "Hello? What's wrong?"

I said, "..Hey" and I cringed so hard internally. God, I sound so awkward.

I continued, "Uh…so something happened. I wasn't sure if you wanted to know about it now but it would distract you from work, or tell you once you get back from Seattle..Uhm what do you want ?"

Paul said casually like it was common sense lol, "Of course, I want to know now. So, what is it?"

I gulped, "..I'm pregnant, Paul."

There was a long pause, and I heard the phone dropped loudly in a ground with Sam yelling in the background. It was Jared who picked up the phone, and said, "Hey..Ale so Paul took off running. Most likely, he ran back to you Ale after hearing the news. Sigh. Good thing we finished our quota today, and we are our working on our last house. It was almost done, and we were about to surprise the imprints today, but ..Paul ruined it. We finished things quicker because being away from our imprints were taking a toll on all of our wolves. I guess it got too much for Paul's wolf and he took off."

I said, "Oh… how long it would take Paul to get here?"

He said, "Hm… probably an hour from how fast he took off? Well, I gotta go now. Congrats and nice talking to you, Ale. See you later."

I said, "See you later, Jared" and hanged up on the phone.

Sue asked, "So, Paul is on his way?"

I said, "Yeah, I think its best to wait for him here."

It would be a good idea to not make his wolf angry or antsy when he feels me moving around the Rez. We waited for him to show up as we watch TV until I felt a pull, and I put my hand on my chest. Seth said, "What's wrong?"

I said, "I think..he's here. I think I need to go outside."

Sue said, "Are you sure about that with your condition?"

I nodded, "I trust him. He won't hurt me."

I got out from their back porch and waited for Paul until I heard crackling noises coming from the forest and saw his wolf form appearing with beaming silver eyes.

I saw his head when he stopped, and slowly approach me. His wolf head was literally above my head, and he was breathing very heavily. Paul did run all the way here. He lowered his head near to my belly, smelling and he started growling lowly at me.

Sensing anger from our connection, I said, "I didn't hide this from you, if that is what you are thinking. I..I didn't know I was pregnant until now" and I proceed to tell him everything.

He listened patiently with his tail moving back and forth in anticipation until he started purring and with his tongue, he licked my stomach with one long stroke before transforming back to his human form. He was cradling me under him, still purring, nuzzling me gently.

He murmured, "My pregnant mate. So fertile, bearing three of my pups" as he started leaving kisess all over my neck to my claim mark. He sucked it and licked it with me trying to muffle a quiet moan. He paused sensing that we had an audience, he looked up and said, "thank you for taking care of my mate. I need to reconnect now with my pregnant mate. I see you guys in the morning."

I heard Leah grunted in response in the distance. Paul quickly picked me up in a bridal style as I hooked my arms around his neck, and we walked back into the forest at the direction to our house.

There might be a little smut next chapter since you know its been a week and a half , Paul had seen Ale.

I know I have been dragging out Jacob, but I promise he is going to show up like within the next 5 chapters or so. A situation will occur that will make Jacob to come back again. You'll see in three chapters or so.

I got my shot today. I was expecting it to get bad like the first shot that I got. Surprisingly, I just feel achy, hurting joints and tired, so I am thankful that I didn't get a strong reaction from the shot. Thank you guys for the reviews, hope you like this one.
