another short(er) chapter installment in my first ever Vampire Knight fanfiction about the time Yuuki and Zero spent together at Cross Academy and then some told from Zero's point of view.

I could not forget the look in my dearest Yuuki's eyes during that very moment. I took a step towards her, but it was far too late to make amends. She was afraid of me, now. I heard a voice from beyond the stairwell call her by name in concern.

Voice: Yuuki.

My dear Yuuki heard the voice, too. At least, that was my assessment from the way she then turned her head towards the source.

Yuuki: I-Is that you, Kaname?

Of course, it had to be that Kaname Kuran who was ascending the stairs towards the two of us. Sadly for me, it was just as obvious that Kaname Kuran had finally come to play the hero with me playing the part of the monster.

Kaname Kuran: You have been reduced to a bloodthirsty beast, Zero Kiryuu.

Then, the awful vampire pulled my dearest Yuuki behind him. All I actually wanted was for my dear Yuuki to be safe from me. Unfortunately, Yuuki still felt the need to care for and protect me even from her beloved Kaname Kuran.

Yuuki: No, Kaname. Please, don't…

It did not take long for my dear Yuuki to fall forward into my arms, though. Once she had fallen into my arms, I could feel the weight of her limp body pulling me down like a rock in the water.

Yours Truly: Yuuki!

I was almost incoherent of that Kaname Kuran's own words as Yuuki lay motionless in my arms. It was horrible. She could not even stand up, and it was all my fault. I could never forget what that Kaname Kuran asked me as soon as he took my dear Yuuki out of my arms, the very first sentence that I heard from him after she fainted.

Kaname Kuran: How was… Yuuki's blood? Was it delicious?

Once that Kaname Kuran had brought my dear Yuuki back up to the higher level of the stairs, there was only one thing I could think of about what had happened at that moment.

My thoughts: What have I done?

The school's idiotic headmaster was at the top of the stairs when that Kaname Kuran brought my dear Yuuki back up the stairs.

Kaname Kuran: Headmaster.

Idiot Headmaster: Yes, I know.

Then, the headmaster began his own descent down the stairwell and approached me. I wanted to run, yet at the same time, I knew I deserved whatever punishment Kaien Cross had in store for me. I tried to stand my ground, but I just continued to be frightened of the penalty for the most forbidden act on the grounds of Cross Academy.

Yours Truly: Please… have mercy, headmaster.

Idiot Headmaster: Zero, I'm only going to take you back to your room. You're clearly in no condition to patrol the academy grounds tonight.

It was a hollow sympathy, but I accepted it, nonetheless.

Yours Truly: Alright. Let's just get it over with.

Once we made it to my dorm room, I turned back over to the headmaster one last time that night only to say…

Yours Truly: If it's not too much trouble, tell Yuuki that I won't be going to class tomorrow, either.

The headmaster suddenly became concerned and confused about my request for when he would see my dear Yuuki again.

Idiot Headmaster: Why would you skip out on class tomorrow? You know that it will only worry Yuuki.

I turned my head back towards the space that was my dorm room.

Yours Truly: Why not? I might as well be expelled from the academy for what I did… to Yuuki, no less.

Of course, the idiot headmaster's only response to my answer was…

Idiot Headmaster: I don't know if I would say that much. I'll give you a day or more to sort your thoughts out, but I will never be the type of headmaster who expels my students unjustly.

Yours Truly: Fine then. I'm going to bed.

With that, I walked into my dorm room and sat on the covers in defiance.
