That night, it had begun to storm, and everyone...well, almost everyone, was asleep. Marie was wide awake, unable to fall asleep. She was tense from the events earlier in the day, unable to relax. She had walked out of her bedroom and into the living room, and was currently pacing around. Then, Sans appeared in front of her.
"Okay, kiddo...this ain't exactly the best time to tell you, but..." Marie stopped pacing, and was now looking at him. "Uh...yeah, this is pretty important." He said, doing a slightly nervous shrug. Marie took a seat on the sofa. She stared on and at him, listening intently. Sans cleared his throat(somehow), and began to speak. "So, you know the whole thing 'bout AUs and ATs and all that...? Well...your particular timeline/universe is connected to another, branching off of it. And that universe happens to be called Glitchtale." "Glitchtale...?" Marie cocked her head in confusion. Sans nodded, and sat down as well. "...kid, let me tell you a story. And this time, it's a story that hasn't happened yet. Actually...it's probably best to just show you." "...how so?" Sans inched closer, his ghostly form in front of her now. He put his hands out, and on her cheeks. Marie shivered, feeling his phalanges phase through her a little. "I'm about to do something. Just promise you won't faint on me." Marie nodded in response.
Then, Sans' eye sockets went hollow before glowing entirely white. Marie's eyes did the same, and then, Marie was thrown into a torrent of memories and visions, nightmares and dreams. Marie saw so many things in such a short amount of time. She saw so much violence. She saw Agate Lightvale and Copper Lightvale fighting, and watched Agate flee after losing. She saw Agate return, but with her trait inverted to FEAR. She killed Copper after killing their shared younger sister, Amber Lightvale. She used Amber's body to create something horrible. A Bete Noire.
Then, Marie saw Frisk. She saw the RESET button. So many timelines, so many deaths. Frisk was being killed by Sans over and over again, before Chara took control as Frisk decided to stop killing. She saw the following battle, and then, Chara and Frisk were separated, and Chara was killed after Frisk took a fatal blow for Sans, which resulted in Sans absorbing Frisk's SOUL. The timeline was RESET, and Frisk initiated a pacifist run. But as they passed through the Underground, they came across a gray door. Frisk opened it, and found Gaster. He attacked them, wanting to take their SOUL so he could become whole again, but was stopped by Sans. One more RESET, and this time, Chara was back once more. They were absorbing the DETERMINATION of melted monsters. Sans and Flowey faced Chara, trying to save Frisk from having their DETERMINATION drained, but failed. They had to retreat, bringing a weakened Frisk with them. After Sans finished working on a machine, he turned it on, and Gaster returned. The next battle ensued, with Flowey absorbing six human SOULS to face Chara. The battle continued on, until Frisk gave Flowey their SOUL, allowing him to become Asriel, the God of Hyperdeath. He faced off against Chara, and using the power of the human SOULS, he SAVED Chara, yet they died minutes after, giving Asriel their shell of a SOUL so he could be himself again. He broke the barrier and returned Frisk, which lead to Frisk making a promise with Sans. Frisk broke the RESET button, and then, things started to go awry.
Frisk had encountered the very same pink creature that had been created by Agate. The monsters had to make peace with the humans, of which was proving to be very difficult. There was an entire organization against monsters, called the AMD. Asgore went on trial, and admitted to killing the six human children. The leader of the AMD, Jessica Gray, was the mother of the sixth human, Alina, of INTEGRITY. She had vowed revenge, and had encountered the Bete Noire as well. Then, the rest shot by like a bullet. Sans was impaled by a pink spike, with Bete stealing his SOUL. Gaster faced off against Bete, and almost died. Alphys died to a misdirected spear from Undyne. Undyne fought the Bete Noire in her Undying form, and just as Bete was about to die, HATE powered her and allowed Bete to overpower Undyne. Then, Frisk and Bete battled, with Asriel having his SOUL stolen, and Frisk's LOVE increasing. Then, Bete decided to resort to a dirty tactic, reviving Sans using the power of HATE she withheld. This caused Frisk to lose some DETERMINATION, when Papyrus arrived at the scene, and faced off against his brother. Through talking and standing his ground, Papyrus was able to SAVE Sans, yet it left him in a comatose state. Bete barely escaped with her life.
But because Frisk had increased their LOVE, accessing their SAVE file from another timeline, the timeline was beginning to glitch, and Frisk realized that they had little time. They decided to resort to something horrible in order to fix things, turning to Gaster to help them. Using a machine, they were transported into the Void, where they gave Chara their SOUL, allowing them to live in their place. However, this would cause the entire timeline to remove Frisk from existence entirely, causing everyone to forget them. They went through with it anyway, despite the pleas of Chara, begging the, to stop. And then, Chara was back. Frisk was gone.
Bete wreaked havoc upon the city, unleashing huge pink blobs that stole many people's lives. Undyne faced off against the giant pink blob and won, transforming into her most powerful form yet, destroying it with an extremely powerful Spear of Justice. Bete almost killed Toriel, yet was stopped by Gaster. Then, after Sans had awoken due to DETERMINATION being injected into him by Gaster to keep him alive, and had arrived with Papyrus, they began to face off against Bete. During this, Chara faced off against his brother, Asriel, who had been corrupted the same way Sans had while he was under Bete's control. After a long and emotional battle, Asriel returned at last, with Chara absorbing the HATE from him, where it was destroyed. But then, Marie's vision was returned to the skeleton family. After a long battle, Sans was ultimately killed by overusing his little remaining magic, melting a bit from his DETERMINATION. He had asked if Papyrus and Gaster were alright, before turning to dust and his SOUL shattering. Papyrus reacted to this with immense grief, sobbing on the spot. Yet Gaster was silent and absolutely enraged. He stepped forward, and what happened next could only be described as a slaughter. Bete had absolutely nothing on Gaster, as he was now using his full power. He obliterated her, and had passed out afterwards. Papyrus recovered from this, and held Gaster, stating that he had done it. But then, darkness began to rise. The HATE that had once possessed Bete was now free. It was using her battered husk and her remaining magic, and it slashed towards Papyrus in an attempt to kill him, yet Chara arrived there in time, taking the blow for him, and starting the fight against the Hatred Horror.
Then, with a flash of light, Marie was back on the sofa, the vision over. Marie was breathing heavily, her heart racing. She was terrified, to say the least. She looked at Sans, a begging gleam in her eyes. "...why...what..." Marie couldn't get any words out, but Sans understood. He was sitting next to her now, instead of facing her directly. His eye sockets were hollow. "Because it's what'll happen. While the Frisk here won't be able to RESET, given that you'll probably stop Yami or whoever he is. Agate and Copper will fight. And the Bete Noire will be created. Which is why you need to stop them, somehow. I don't know how, I just know that it needs to be stopped." Sans spoke, now sounding quite serious. His smile had faded a long time ago, now a less than happy grimace. "Sans...Glitchtale, or my timeline, isn't your timeline...how do you know all this?" Marie asked, shivers going down her spine. "Because it's what the others know. And they told me. They couldn't bring themselves to speak of the horrors that occurred there, not to you." Sans said, his smile fading even more. He now had an outright frown, looking upset and frustrated. "Look, kiddo. I may be a lazybones, but this is way too important to be lazy about." And Marie knew, as well as anyone who knew Sans did. If he was being serious and not lazy, then you knew it would be important. "But...how...?" Marie asked, still afraid. Sans looked at her, his eye lights returning. "...I think you may need to talk to them or something." "Talk to them?!" Marie's voice raised to a shocked yelp. "The Lightvales are royals! Two of them are one of the seven wizards who sealed the monsters underground! How am I to convince them to NOT fight?!" "Well...you are the Angel. You SAVED those who others thought could not be SAVED. You survived being possessed by HATE. Kiddo, at this point, you're more powerful than them. Plus, they'll listen to you once they know you're the Angel of the prophecy, meant to SAVE the world and free it from darkness." Sans had a point. Marie nodded, though still felt nervous.
Then, a loud knocking filled the air, and Sans disappeared, though just simply from view. Marie felt her entire being tense up, dread creeping up her spine. Who could be knocking this late at night, and during a thunderstorm? Marie opened the door, and felt her very heart skip a beat at what, or who, she saw. A man, a woman, and a child. The child was around 14, with teal and green hair, one blue eye and the other green, and a pretty emerald dress. Her eyes shimmered with INTEGRITY and KINDNESS. The woman had bright orange hair with deep amber eyes, shimmering with wisdom and BRAVERY. She wore a beautiful orange dress, with a bow on the back. The man had armor on, looking quite royal and powerful. He had brown hair with red eyes, shimmering with a powerful trait Marie knew all too well. DETERMINATION. Marie felt total and complete fear fill her to the brim. She knew who these people were, remembering the vision. Yet she never dreamed that she would meet them immediately after. Copper, Agate, and Amber Lightvale themselves. "No need to be afraid." Copper spoke, his voice friendly yet holding urgency. "Do you have any rooms to spare? We can't go any further in this weather." Copper was right, as it was storming. He and his siblings were all soaking wet. "...this was definitely unexpected." Sans said, his voice tight and filled with surprise.
