Luffy slides open the door to his homeroom to see his teacher sitting at his desk drinking something out of his mug decorated with fishes. Jimbei is a tall, chubby man with a low raspy voice and kinky hair that falls onto his back. His homeroom loved him. He was always wise with his advice and always lets them have fun. "Ah, so you're here." He says before another sip of his tea?
"Sorry I'm late. Last few days have been hectic." Luffy walks over smiling sitting on top of one of the desks. "What're you drinking? It stinks." Luffy covers his nose as he got closer
"Well, it's sea moss. It's good for you."
"Bleh. I'm here for my schedule."
"Right." Jimbei opens his desks, handing him his schedule. "If there's any changes you want to make, you can head over to the office. It might be crowded there because a lot of kids are on break right now. Also, registration for sports is taking place afterschool. There's gonna be a notice posted around school so be on the lookout for that." Jimbei informs him.
"Anything else?" Luffy looks over his schedule hoping off the desk.
"Tuck your shirt in would ya."
"Shishishi" Luffy chuckles, " See ya later!" He says while heading for the doors.
"Meh, he probably wouldn't be interested in the student council anyway." Jimbei says to himself once Luffy left.
Luffy walks down the hall and down the stairs to the main floor heading for the office. Distracted by the scent of food, he almost stopped by the cafeteria for a quick bite although he wasn't on break. He looks at his schedule again seeing a class he hated. Staying focused, he heads to the office with his bag slung over his shoulder.
Before he could put his hand on the door, it was pushed open to the other side to reveal his Nami. A big grin spreads on his face and she looks shocked at first then happy.
"Luffy!" She says excitedly, hugging her boyfriend. She gives him a quick kiss on the lips. "Did you just get here?"
"Sort of, I just made a quick stop upstairs." Luffy kisses her again. "I missed you."
Nami tiptoed to give her boyfriend a longer kiss, "So did I."
"What lunch do you have?" Luffy asks her.
"Sixth period." She shows him her schedule.
Luffy smile slowly fades, "I'm gonna change my schedule right now. Wait for me?"
"By the time you're back, my break will be over, text me okay?" Nami tiptoes again to give him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Yeah." Luffy says watching her walk towards the cafeteria in awe, she changed her signature scent to something sweeter. He turns back facing the office, pulling on the handles to see his counselor. Rayleigh.
At sixth period lunch, the gang hung around outside at the field house. Luffy's head is in Nami's lap as he balances the pencil between his nose and lips. Usopp eating his fries he got from the cafeteria and Zoro who sat with his back against the wall taking a light snooze. It was only them four that had the same lunch period this semester. Vivi had fourth, Nojiko and Kaya had seventh and Koala had fifth.
Under the shade Usopp and Nami observed the first years that took their spots on the bleachers. The boys weren't too upset about it, it's not like their names were written there.
"Well, it wouldn't be the same with everyone gone now." Usopp says taking a fry.
"Look on the bright side, you're not in the sun." Nami looks over to her and Vivi's old signature spot under the tree. It was occupied by a swarm of students both boys and girls, in the center of the commotion sat a girl with teal hair wearing a senior vest. "Hey, Zoro isn't she your date from the party?"
"Eh?" Zoro's bubble bursts and he wakes up.
"That's Hiyori….wait, I didn't know she was enrolled here." Usopp narrows his eyes, looking in the same direction as Nami.
"Neither did I." Zoro adds on.
"She might become more popular than you Nami." Usopp remarks.
"As I care about stuff like that." Nami replies to Usopp's statement.
"I thought you were in love with Tashigi. You move on fast Zoro." Luffy chuckles. He sits up to steal some fries from Usopp.
"Hey!" Usopp yells at him.
Nami turns to Zoro with a sly smile, Zoro's face turns red. "You idiot, I don't go around telling people you're in love with Nami." He narrows his eyes at Luffy.
"You don't have to shishi, they can see for themselves." Luffy leans back and plants a soft kiss on Nami's lips before laying back on her lap.
Now it was Nami's turn to blush.
"I miss Kaya now." Usopp mopes.
"Are you guys doing any sports this semester?" Zoro leans forward and takes some Usopp's food.
"Hey! Get your own!" Usopp berates.
"I'm doing track and field." Nami answers.
Zoro nearly laughs, but Usopp didn't hold back. Nami rolls her eyes. "I'll join you." Luffy says, looking up and gives her a comforting smile.
"What about you Usopp?" Nami asks. "You seem to find a lot of things funny."
"I'm not the athletic type, I'm more of a supporter."
"Yeah, you play your cheerleader role pretty well." Nami teases. Luffy and Zoro laugh at Nami's teasing.
"O-o-oh yeah? I'll join track with you guys then. We'll see who's gonna be cheering from the side this time."
"Since nobody asked me, I'm doing basketball." Zoro turns the attention to himself.
"Zoro please, you don't need to do anything other than football." Usopp makes fun.
As Zoro puts Usopp in a headlock, Luffy and Nami swipe some of Usopp's fries. Laughing at their friend's antics. The bell rings, signaling the end of their lunch period. As the four get up from sitting on their bums, Hiyori makes her way over with hands behind her back. Smiling.
"..." A sweat drop forms on Zoro's forehead.
"Hi, everyone and Zoro." she winks at Zoro. Zoro narrows his eyes at her.
"Um, hi I'm Nami, I saw you at the party but didn't get a chance to introduce myself." Nami gives her a warm smile.
"I'm Hiyori. I'm new here. I'd love it if we became friends."
"Oh, sure." Nami shakes her hand.
"Hey, Hiyori, you remember me?" Usopp asks her. She ignores him and eyes Luffy up and down.
"What is it?" Luffy looks himself up and down.
"You're Monkey D. Luffy."
"Yeah...how'd you know?" Luffy asks confusingly.
"You fit Zoro's description. When he's not training, he talks about his friends all the time. Even when I spend the night over." Hiyori sighs.
Luffy, Nami and Usopp look at Zoro. Zoro waves his hands in front of him in defense. "It's not like that. Stop making people misunderstand."
"I should be heading to class, see you guys. Bye." Hiyori waves them bye and skips over to the school's cafeteria to head back inside.
"Zoro you dirty dog." Luffy chuckles at his embarrassed friend.
At Seventh period lunch, Nojiko sat inside the cafeteria at a table with some other seniors. She wasn't too interested in the conversation, only listening to her music through her earphone. Her eyes follow a certain red haired boy walking outside the cafeteria and to the field. She gets up and dumps her lunch tray.
"Hey, Nojiko where are you going?" A girl with a long sharp nose with yellow barrettes in her hair.
"She was getting to the good part." an identical girl with pink barrettes complains.
"Sorry, Kiwi, Mozu. Tell me the story some other time okay?" Nojiko left the twin sisters sitting in their senior vests confused.
Nojiko walks out of the cafe looking for the red haired boy. She looks onto the bleachers first, then her eyes wander to a loner under a tree across the field. It only could've been him. She balls her fist and walks over to him.
"Hey!" she says getting his attention. Kidd sees her walking over to him and puts his phone up.
"What do you want? Are you stalking me?" he asks out of annoyance.
"As if! You should be on your knees thanking Me, Nami and Koala for getting your ass out of that rotten holding cell."
"I didn't ask you girlies to play superhero and come be my saviors."
Nojiko gasp. "You're so ungrateful! I don't know how Nami and Koala pitied you." Nojiko crosses her arms.
A pink haired girl walks over to the two with two slices of pizza. She hands one to Kidd. "What're you doing here Nojiko? Can't you see we don't want to be bothered?"
" 'We' what are you two a couple?" Nojiko scoffs.
"That's right." Bonney answers her sitting next to Kidd and he puts an arm around her.
"Well then, you should make sure your moody boyfriend over there stays out of trouble so he wouldn't end up in jail." Nojiko says before walking back across the field.
"What is she talking about?" Bonney questions him.
Kidd watches as Nojiko walks away, "don't pay her any mind."
After school, the students that want to participate in a sport went ahead and found their designated room. Poor Zoro, hopefully he finds the room he's supposed to meet in. Luffy, Nami and Ussop went ahead and met in the biology room downstairs for the meeting. The meeting was led by the physical education teacher. Mr. Lucci, as coach of the track and field team.
Other students start to flock in, a familiar face makes the three light up. "Vivi!" they waved her over. Vivi spots her friends and joins them. Behind Vivi walks in Marguerite, Helmeppo, Koby, baby five and Rebecca. Both Luffy and Nami make a poker face once they see Rebecca come in.
"Everyone listen up!" Lucci says loudly for the teens to shut up.
A few minutes passed by and the meeting was over, everyone wrote their names down for members of the track team and left the class to head home. Nojiko waited outside the school for the track meeting to finish to meet up with her sister. Nami walks out with Luffy beside her.
"I missed seeing you two attached at the hip." Nojiko rolls her eyes and smiles at the two love birds.
Behind the two Nojiko sees other couples coming out down the stairs and making her heartstrings tug. Vivi and Kohza, Usopp and Kaya, Zoro and the new girl, Kidd and Bonney…
"Hey, you okay?" Nami asks Nojiko. "Are you regretting joining volleyball already?" Nami questions teasingly.
"Maybe.." Nojiko lies, putting on a fake smile.
"Oh come on, you're gonna have so much fun, I'll even help you out if you need extra practice." Nami loops her arms with Luffy and her sister as they head out the school gates.
In the distance Rebecca watched how happy Luffy seemed with Nami, she thought they would've broken up after she showed him the photo she took at the party. She was never jealous of Nami, but ever since she and Luffy started dating, she felt like she took him right from her. She tried to get over her crush on by talking with Law, but it didn't work out. He graduated and went to University.
"Um, h-hey Rebecca." Rebecca turns around. The pink haired boy with glasses rubs the back of his head.
"Hey Koby. I see you joined the track team too." she smiles warmly at him.
"U-uh, yeah! L-let's work hard together!" He enthuses. Rebecca smiles at him and he pauses, "Ah, n-not really together, together, but as a t-team." an embarrassed blush creeps onto his face.
"Go wavers!" Rebecca returns the enthusiasm.
