Hiccup couldn't believe what Palmer had just said, that a member of his crew attempted to assassinate Iceberg.
Eret looked surprised as well. "Iceberg was shot? That's news to me."
Astrid couldn't believe her ears. "That can't be, we…"
"We didn't shot Iceberg," said Hiccup defiantly.
"Listen, kid, you might as well fess up," said Palmer.
"I'm telling you, we didn't do it."
"Iceberg said it himself; there were two people who broke into his room and attacked him. He may have been hurt, but that doesn't mean he didn't get a good look at them first. One of them was a big guy with a mask on the other was a tall woman with black hair. Iceberg told us that he recognised her, and the Government confirmed she's a member of your crew. The archaeologist… Heather Owson."
"You're lying!"
Palmer ignored him. "I won't ask you why; maybe your crew came to Water 7 on a mission to kill Iceberg. Or maybe you really did want your ship repaired and attacked him on a whim after we turned you down. I don't know how you pirates think, and I don't care. The point is you try to kill my boss, and now I'm going to have to take you down."
"So he's one of the culprits?"
"Tire him up, Palmer, don't let the pirate go!"
"I can't believe this is happening," said Astrid.
"So he got shot five times, but Iceberg is still alive?" said Eret.
"Don't look so surprised; that guy is as tough as nails," said Palmer and then his eyes turned towards Hiccup. "But if they tried it once, then these scumbags might try to go after Iceberg a second time too. So we're going to settle this now."
Silvernose then tossed a chisel straight towards him, and Hiccup quickly moved his head to avoid it, but it still cut his cheek.
"Dead or alive, the Government doesn't care either way," said Silvernose. "This is what it means to have a bounty on your head; therefore, you can't complain. No matter how terrible your fate maybe, you broke the law, and now the law has turned its back on you."
"You're right; we chose to live this way," said Hiccup, brushing the blood off his cheek. "We're all outlaws, but I don't care. You're wrong, however, because if you knew Heather, then you wouldn't say that! So you had better take that back!"
"Hiccup," said Astrid.
"Let me talk to Iceberg; this has to be a mistake," said Hiccup. "There's no way that it was Heather."
"We would be fools to let you anywhere near him," said Lasse. "Criminals have no right to make demands."
Sadly the crowd on the side of the foreman.
"He's right!"
"Tire up the culprits!"
"Those bastards can't get away for shooting our hero!"
"Send him to the gallows!"
"Will you all just calm down!" Astrid yelled.
"Hold on," said a shipwright grabbing her. "I recognise you for the wanted posters; you're a member of the Dragon Riders!"
"Really?"
"Yeah, she was riding along with him on a Squire when he got here. We've got you now."
"You're getting what you deserve."
Astrid managed to free herself from the man and raised her fists. "I don't want to fight any of you, but I will if I have to! We're trying to tell you people that we didn't do anything wrong! You're making a mistake!"
"And why should we trust anything you say? You scumbags are pirates and probably assassins too!"
"Seriously?" said Hiccup. "If we did attempt to assassinate Iceberg, why would we come here? Also, need I remind you that we don't have a working ship, so what exactly would our escape plan be? Besides, there's no reason for Heather to attack him!"
"Additionally, we never even heard of Iceberg until we met him yesterday," Astrid added.
"You brats just keep on saying that all you want," said Palmer dismissively. "It's over. The fact is you picked on the wrong guy; the moral of the story is if you make an enemy out of Iceberg, then you make an enemy out of the entire Galley Law Company. And that's not the half of it; you also made an enemy out of everyone in this whole city, you understand?"
"I don't want to fight any of you; I would prefer if we talk it out," said Hiccup calmly.
"I don't give a damn to what you want! Word of this is going to spread out like wildfire; there's no place to run and no place to hide. It's the end of the road; you pirates are going down."
The entire crowd immediately cheered.
"That's what you get for messing with Galley Law!"
Palmer then quickly flung his robe and tied it around Hiccup's wrist. Silvernose then tossed several more chisels, but Hiccup used his wing to shield himself. Palmer then pulled on the rope pulling Hiccup towards him as more chisels came his way, but this time he used his tail to knock them back. He then quickly spun around and landed on his feet.
"What's the matter, Dragon?" said Palmer. "You're not even going to go out with a fight?"
"What part of I don't want to fight you didn't understand?" Hiccup yelled.
Unfortunately, no one listened to him as Lasse tossed aside his pistols and drew out several saw blades.
"These blades are made of Gronckle Iron, sharp enough to even cut through your scales," said Lasse.
"Dammit, these guys are going all out," said Hiccup.
Tilestone then aimed his bazooka at Hiccup and fired, creating a huge explosion upon impact. Palmer pulled back his rope and saw that it had been burnt off, and he quickly realised that Hiccup got away before the shot landed.
'He got away,' said Palmer as he looked up.
Sure enough, flying over the smoke was Hiccup. "They almost had me."
Then suddenly he saw jumping out of the smoke was Lael with a massive saw blade in hand. He quickly dodged the blade, but he was unable to dodge the kick they came after and found himself hitting the ground.
He only just managed to pick himself up when suddenly Lasse appeared before him swinging his saw blades. Hiccup quickly jumped back just in time to avoid them, but then he backed himself into a wall, and Silvernose tossed several chisels pinning him to it. Silvernose then stepped back, revealing Tilestone aiming his bazooka directly at him.
Hiccup tried to move, but he was pinned to the wall pretty tightly. "Oh-uh, can't move any more."
Tilestone then fired, and then there was a huge explosion.
The crowd immediately cheered upon seeing the explosion.
Eret just sat there laughing. "And that's why Galley Law is our pride and joy."
"Feels good to see them lose," said Kaley.
"You bet, I hope they blow that sorry sucker sky high," said Eret.
Astrid was fending off the crowd and looked at him and then got an idea. "Hey, I thought you wanted to take our captain down yourself."
"Now that you mention it, I do," said Eret. "I haven't beaten him nearly enough, not yet. And to be there, I was here first, wasn't I? As much as I'm enjoying the show, this is my stage, and the only star in here is Eret. So get out of my way, Galley Law!"
"Hold your horses," said Silvernose. "We'll be done with him in the second, then you can fight us to your heart's content."
"Listen to you, I called dibs on Dragon first before all of you even got here! And why am I even bothering talking to you? You don't even care what I'm saying, do you?"
"Palmer, watch out!
"Get out of there!"
"Eret is going nuts again. Runaway!"
The foreman turned their heads and saw that Eret's arms were attached to some sort of rod.
"Connector set," said Eret smiling and began pointing it towards them.
"He brought down a crane with that attack; it's lethal!"
"That was him?" Palmer stared.
Lasse looked at the damaged crane. "It looks like a cannon did it."
"He's about to fire!"
"Get them, bro! Your cannon is ready to go!" the twins cheered.
"Don't expect me to shoot a cannonball or anything," said Eret as they began to be sucked into the rod. "The shells I fire are made of nothing but air. Still, these babies break the speed of sound."
His arms then started to expand like some sort of balloon.
"Air, huh?" said Palmer.
"Run for your lives!"
"What the hell?" Palmer stared as Eret's arms expanded a little more.
"Coup De Vent!" Eret roared.
He then fired, which you can only be described as some sort of air cannon which was so powerful that not only did it wrest the remains of the crane, but the ship behind it as well. The foreman suddenly found themselves tossed into the air, and the after-shock struck the crowd behind him.
The foreman then landed on the ground with this splitting headache and the ears ringing.
"Man, he wasn't kidding," said Palmer. "That thing hits like a hurricane in the face."
The impact of the attack and also cause the second crane to lose its footing.
"The other crane is coming down!"
"Get out of here! It's going on us!"
"Hurry up!"
"Here it comes!"
Eret just laughed as the second crane collapsed. "Ha, let it fall! Hell, I don't care! Bring the whole shipyard down!"
Astrid just stared at the destruction. "He really is a cyborg; I thought he was kidding, but that their shop was no joke. I've never even seen technology like that. I was hoping that he could cause a distraction to help us to get away; I think he overdid it."
"Astrid, run!" Hiccup yelled as he dashed towards her.
"Hiccup, you didn't get hit back there, did you?" Astrid asked.
"It a lot more than that if those guys want to get rid of me," said Hiccup. "But it won't be long until they're back on their feet; we better take this opportunity to getaway. I don't know how, but we need to talk to Iceberg."
"You want to talk to him now?" Astrid stared. "When the whole town is out searching for us?"
The shipwrights then saw Hiccup and Astrid and quickly realise they were planning their getaway.
"Hey, look! Dragon Conqueror is getting away!"
"Do they really think they can surround us?" Astrid smiled.
"Guess they forgot that one of us can fly," said Hiccup and quickly transformed into his hybrid form. He then picked Astrid up in his arms bridal style. "Hold on."
Astrid blushed slightly. "O-okay."
"Stop them!"
Hiccup then quickly took off before they had a chance to grab them.
"They're too fast!"
"Follow them!"
Ragnar and his group, unaware of what was going on in the city. They had made their way to the Cape where the Going Tiger was still anchored.
"Well, he's not on the deck," said Fishlegs.
"Maybe he still to her to move," said Chopper.
"But if we don't want him to recognise us, we can't risk getting any closer," said Ragnar as they hide behind the rocks they were hiding behind. "Here we go. You two ready to do this?"
The two of them nodded.
The three of them immediately jumped out.
"What's that? There's a gigantic storm called Aqua Laguna that's on its way here right now!" Ragnar yelled at the top of his voice.
"That's right, by midnight tonight, this entire beach will be completely underwater!" Chopper yelled.
"Along with half of the town!" Fishlegs added.
"That's terrible. We should get out of here right away!" said Ragnar.
"Yes, sir, if we were smart, that exactly what we would do!" said Chopper.
"We should evacuate to higher ground!" said Fishlegs.
"Good idea! Let's do that!"
"Evacuate!" they all yelled.
After that, they all took very deep breaths, exhausted from all the yelling, but when they looked back at the Tiger, there was no sign of Snotlout. They were beginning to wonder whether he was on the ship when they heard a noise from inside the cabin.
"Runaway!" Ragnar yelled as they ran back to the city.
Snotlout then opened the door as he could've sworn that he heard yelling, but he saw nobody.
"That is weird," he said, looking around. "I could've sworn that I heard someone out here. They were saying something about a storm." He then looked at the clouds and saw the wind was building up. "Actually, the wind is awfully strong, isn't it?"
Meanwhile, at the ruins of Dock One, Eret just stood there looking at the destruction.
"Bro?" said Kalena.
"Huh?" said Eret.
"Don't you want to go after them?" Kaley asked.
"Nah, that last Coup De Vent ate up all my fuel," he said, looking back at them. "What a mess, stupid Galley Law. I'll take that Dragon as soon as I'm done refuelling." He then gave a small chuckle. "That kid ain't half bad, you know. He certainly earned his big bounty."
The foreman was still recovering from Eret's attack.
"Jeez Louise, even for Eret, this is too much," said Silvernose rubbing his head.
"Today just us and our day," said Lasse as he dusted himself down.
"Eret or no Eret, we can't let Dragon Conqueror escape," said Palmer. "Aqua Laguna is going to hit tonight. There are only Sea Trains departures left today. Since the Dragon Riders can't leave on their ship, the Sea Train is the only ticket they've got to get off the island. This is our chance, have every member of Galley Law spread out and hunt them down. We'll settle this before sunset."
Riding on the Sea Train was Coco and Chimney; they want to leave the station before Aqua Laguna hit.
"Granny, look!" Chimney yelled as she looked at the window. "It's Water 7!"
"Don't get too excited and fall into the ocean now," Coco chuckled.
Hiccup and Astrid meanwhile won the rooftops looking down at the main office of Galley Law.
"That isn't Galley Law HQ. I don't know what it is," said Astrid. "No surprises to try next door to. Dock One and love the place is totally swarming with reporters. Those tough-looking guys are probably shipwrights and willing to bet that where Iceberg is at."
Hiccup nodded. "You stay here while I break-in."
"You are sure about this?" Astrid asked.
"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't," said Hiccup. "The only way to find out what's going on between Iceberg and Heather is to ask him myself."
"Just promise you will be careful," said Astrid. "I needn't remind you that everyone on the island is out looking for us."
"Which is why I'm going in there alone," said Hiccup as he rose to his feet.
"Good luck."
Hiccup nodded and transformed its hybrid form; he then took off and flew straight towards the main office.
"They can't find them," said shipwright.
Then suddenly, Hiccup smashed through the window and entered the building, much to their shock.
"Who's that?"
"Wait, it can't be!"
"Someone broke the window!"
"We're under attack! Dragon Conqueror Hiccup broke in; he must be after Iceberg!"
"He's doing this in the middle of the day?"
"He's got some guts coming after us now."
"Where is he?"
"He's taking the stairs up to the third floor!"
"Where are the foremen?"
"They're all spread out looking for Dragon! No one is here."
Astrid just stood there watching the shipwrights rushed inside. "Please be safe."
Hiccup, meanwhile, was running through the corridors in his human form with shipwrights hot on his tail.
"Hey, over here!"
Hiccup looked around that any trace of Iceberg. "Where is he? Where is he?"
He then turned around the corner and saw several shipwrights rushing towards him; he quickly spun around and ran back down the corridor.
Iceberg was in his room, and both he and Kala could hear the commotion and bullets being fired.
"Don't shoot a pistol, you idiot! We're inside! You're going to disturb Mr Iceberg!"
Kala sighed and looked at Iceberg. "I know that you need to rest; I apologise for the commotion."
"What's going on?" Iceberg asked.
"Apparently, Dragon Conqueror Hiccup has broken in and is running amok."
"In that case, I have a plan."
Hiccup was still running down a series of corridors, but he hadn't been able to find Iceberg so far. Though he had found quite a number of angry shipwrights.
"Found him!"
Hiccup then quickly jumped off the railings towards the other side of the room and saw quite a number of shipwrights below him.
"That all the other shipwrights," said Hiccup.
Someone fired a shot, but they missed just as he landed on the landing. He then quickly proceeded down the corridor, but he had no idea where he was going.
"Hiccup! Hiccup, wait!" a voice yelled above.
Hiccup looked up and saw Kala on the floor above and recognised her as Iceberg's secretary.
"It's you," he said.
A few moments later, the shipwright arrived at Iceberg's room as they had lost sight of Hiccup.
"Kala, did you see a pirate come this way?"
"If I had, you would know," said Kala bluntly. "And by the way, you're far too noisy. Mr Iceberg still needs his peace and quiet."
"You're right, sorry. Looks like Dragon Conqueror hasn't made it this far yet; let's stand and watch around this hallway. This is where he's headed for sure."
They then started to spread out across the corridor to keep a watchful eye for Hiccup, but they were completely unaware that he was actually inside Iceberg's room.
"Hello there pirate boy, were you looking for me?" Iceberg asked calmly.
"Sure am, but honestly, I'm surprised that you wanted to see me given the circumstances," said Hiccup.
"Yes, considering the angry mob, I assume that you didn't burst in here just a murder me."
"All that I want is to hate your side of the story."
"Last night, I saw Heather Owson without a doubt." Hiccup's eyes widened because you could tell there was no lie in Iceberg's voice. "And mind you, I have nothing against any of you. I have no reason to lie."
"Are you sure it wasn't someone who looked like her?" Hiccup asked.
"Shut up and listen, boy," said Iceberg and pointed a pistol at him. "I didn't call you in here to bicker about who did what. I have a favour to ask, and it would be in your best interest to grant it. No matter what it takes, I have to see Heather Owson again."
Soon the news of Heather's involvement in Iceberg's assassination attempt spread throughout the entire town.
"Extra extra, read all about it! Pirates were the culprits in the attack against Mr Iceberg! The Water Water Newspaper will purchase any information related to their current location and actions! We know that the culprits are still here on the island, so be sure to stay on the lookout; we must band together to hunt down the Dragon Riders and send them to the gallows!"
Heather was sitting down on the balcony of the cafe reading the newspaper in the shadows.
