Chapter 30

Now Ash and Lillie are at Akala Outskirts, they decide to capture and train some of their Pokemon. Eventually, some of their Pokemon, like Paras, Makuhita, and even Morelull evolves in the end.

Ash says, "I know about the Parasect and Hariyama, but what is this Pokemon?"

Rotom says, "Shiinotic, the evolved form of Morelull. Grass and Fairy Type. Much like Morelull, Shiinotic drain energy, but they can also share energy with those they like."

"I see, that explains a lot." Lillie says. "It is capable of sharing energy with us as well."

"Yeah." Ash says, "I still remember how much this guy can drain our energy."

Then they also capture some new Pokemon, there is a Nosepass. And at the ocean, they fish out a Pokemon that they haven't seen before. The Pokemon shows a white hand from its black body and it tries to shake hands with Ash, and Ash does it in the end.

"What is this polite Pokemon?" Ash asks, and Rotom says, "Pyukumuku, the Sea Cucumber Pokémon. A Water type. Pyukumuku lives in shallow water and attacks enemies with a fist-like appendage."

"So that is its appendage..." Lillie says as Ash captures the Pokemon in the end, and then they also capture a Chinchou after fishing as well.

Once they are about to arrive at the Ruins of Life, they hear a voice, "So you're the ones Gladion and Golly were talking about? Hmph. You don't look like anything special to me."

They turn around and see a pink-haired girl standing in front of them. Ash asks, "Who are you? How do you know them?"

"I'm Plumeria. I help keep Team Skull together. I'm like a big sister to all these numskulls. You have realized what idiots all these guys are, right?" Plumeria says.

"So you are a part of Team Skull?" Lillie says with worry as they take a step back. Plumeria says, "But don't you think some dummies are cute in their dumbness? You know what I mean, right? You picking on my cute, dumb brothers and sisters is really annoying me!"

She sends out Golbat and Salandit, Ash says, "It seems like you are a Poison Type user...Pikachu, I need your help." Lillie takes out a Pokeball and says, "Rockruff, I need your help as well."

Rockruff is suddenly barking as they battle against the two Pokemon. Ash does his new Z Move with Pikachu, he does a series of poses and he says, "Catastropika!"

Pikachu then jumps into its Trainer's arms and is thrown into the air, where it starts spinning around rapidly and becomes surrounded by yellow electricity. It then slams into the Golbat, causing it to faint, but Rockruff is using Rock Throw at both Ash and the Salandit, Ash rushes forward and says, "Rockruff, you need to calm down!"

Rockruff finally manages to calm down after accidentally bites Ash's arm, he starts to feel guilty as Ash pets him, saying not to worry. Plumeria just looks at her fainted Pokemon and says, "Hmmph! You're pretty strong. I'll give you that. But mess with anyone in Team Skull again, and I'll show you how serious I can get."

After she leaves, Lillie asks, "I wonder what has happened with Rockruff..."

"I don't know, but one thing I know is that he might be close to evolving." Ash says, and Lillie just nods.

After arriving at Ruins of Life, they hear a voice, "Ash, Lillie!" They turn around to see Professor Kukui and Professor Burnet. Lillie asks, "Professors? What are you doing here?"

"We are here to see your trial, that's why." Kukui says with a smile. Burnet says, "Though we did go to see the Masked Royal battling, it is a good thing that we aren't late."

Ash and Lillie just sweat drop, Lillie says, "Well, we did come here for the trial, and we are also here for Nebby."

"I see, by the way, do you need some healing? You can't have a great match with the Kahuna without your Pokemon in full health." Kukui says with a smile as Ash nods.

After healing up their Pokemon, Lillie looks at the ruins and says, "Within these ruins waits for the guardian deity of Akala Island...this is Tapu Lele's ruin."

Nebby suddenly comes out of the bag again and Lillie says, "I know you tried to drag me along to the Ruins of Conflict on Melemele Island, too...Why are these ruins important to you? What do the guardians mean to you?"

"I think I was wondering the same as well." Ash says, but Nebby just shrugs as he also doesn't know.

Just then, Olivia comes and she says, "Oh, I didn't expect to see you here as well, Kukui and Burnet."

"Hello to you as well, Olivia." Burnet says with a smile and Kukui also greets her. Olivia says, "Tapu Lele summoned me here to clean up the ruins. Ash, Lillie...thanks for getting to know the people and Pokémon of Alola."

"Your welcome?" Ash says in confusion.

"All right, then! You've completed the trials of all three captains here on Akala Island. Now you face the grand trial of the kahuna—me! Get ready for your hardest Pokémon battle yet on Akala!" Olivia says.

"Of course, we are not going to lose." Lillie says.

"Great! We're gonna give you guys everything we've got! And my partners are all adorable, rugged little Rock types!"

She sends out Probopass and Lycanroc, in the daytime form, Ash sends out Rockruff while Lillie sends out Dartrix.

The battle begins with Dartrix using Leafage and Rockruff using Rock Throw. Lycanroc uses Rock Slide to destroy the incoming attacks and blows away both Dartrix and Rockruff. Probopass uses Stealth Rock and creates large rock pillars which surround Dartrix and Rockruff. Rockruff tries to run out but gets hit by the pillar.

"Dartrix, grab Rockruff!" Lillie yells as Dartrix does what she says and then Dartrix and Rockruff are flying out of the trap whilst Dartrix uses Leafage, which makes contact on Probopass.

Probopass reacts by making using Magnet Bomb with its Mini-Noses but Rockruff uses Rock Throw to blow them away. However, one remains and uses a Magnet Bomb causing damage and pushing Rockruff and Dartrix back into the pillar trap.

Dartrix and Rockruff have taken a large amount of damage and look exhausted. Ash says, "I know you still can do it, this is not over." The Pokemon share Ash's fiery as they all stand back together.

Probopass uses Zap Cannon while Lycanroc uses Accelerock. Dartrix quickly reacts with Leafage which makes contact. Lycanroc uses Probopass's Mini-Noses to jump into the sky to catch Dartrix and attack with Accelerock. Probopass then launches its Zap Cannon to Dartrix but Rockruff quickly pushes one of the Mini-Noses to the Zap Cannon to protect Dartrix. Dartrix thanks Rockruff but Rockruff barks loudly back. Rockruff's impatience and fieriness have elevated dramatically.

Olivia tells the Mini-Noses to surround Dartrix and Rockruff. "Now let me show you the Z Move." Olivia says as she does the pose and yells, "Use Continental Crush!"

Lillie tells Dartrix to fly in the air with Rockruff. Lycanroc uses Continental Crush and Dartrix and Rockruff stay directly underneath the rock but quickly fly away before it lands, thus not taking any damage while crushing the stone pillars in the process.

"Probopass, use Giga Impact! Lycanroc, Rock Slide!"

"Dartrix, use Leafage!" "Rockruff, use Bite!"

Leafage destroys the Rock Slide but Rockruff gets hit by Giga Impact. Rockruff is thrown against the cliff-face but comes back and uses Bite on Lycanroc. Probopass uses Magnet Bomb on Dartrix but Dartrix manages to maneuver the Mini-Noses to attack Probopass instead.

"Now let's show them!" Lillie says as she activates the Z move with Dartrix. "Bloom Doom!"

Dartrix defeats Probopass with the move, Ash and Lillie congratulate him for his hard work. But when Dartrix tries to lift Rockruff into the air, Rockruff resists and uses Bite on Dartrix, this makes Dartrix unable to battle.

"Dartrix!" Lillie yells in horror, and Ash asks, "Rockruff, what are you doing?"

Rockruff realizes his mistake and becomes upset. Ash decides to cheer him up and says, "Rockruff, since you have done it, let's make sure we win this on our own."

Determined again, Rockruff uses Rock Throw while Lycanroc counters with Accelerock. They both make contact. Rockruff uses Bite but misses and Lycanroc quickly reacts with Rock Slide. But Rockruff uses the rocks to jump towards Lycanroc and delivers a Rock Throw at close range. As a result, Lycanroc falls onto the battlefield and is declared unable to battle. Ash and Lillie win his Grand Trial. However, Rockruff soon faints in exhaustion.

"I think maybe Rockruff is going to evolve." Olivia says. "Which is why he becomes more aggressive and independent."

"I see." Ash says.

"Diamonds only sparkle after coal is pushed to its absolute limit. You guys are the best! Here. The Rock-type Z-Crystal... The Rockium Z is all yours!"

Ash and Lillie take it, and they yell, "We got the Rockium Z!" Pikachu and the other Pokemon are cheering, but Rockruff is sad as he doesn't cheer with them.

"The Rock-type Z-Power...you have to move like this to draw it out! Watch carefully, because the hip movement is crucial!" Olivia says as she does the pose, which shows her muscles well and she also bends down to show it once more.

"Use it well. The Rock type... It's hard. Sturdy. Rugged and physically strong. So nothing like me at all! I guess opposites really do attract." Olivia says, and Nebby walks towards her and he bounces around. Lillie says, "You looked very pleased, don't you?"

"By the way, Ash, Lillie, what did you want to do with the Ruins of Life?"

"Well, Because of Nebby... It's not originally from here, and I want to help it get back to its home... But I don't have any idea how to do that... It seems fond of the ruins for some reason, so I keep visiting them and hoping that maybe I will find some clue to help it..."

Olivia looks at the Pokemon and says, "You certainly don't see Pokémon like that every day. Tapu Lele may be called the guardian deity of our island, but it can also run wild at times. Regular Pokémon normally avoid the guardians at all costs... Unless they are strong enough to face the tapu themselves, that is."

"Wait, that can't be right...I think your journey will hold many surprises. And I hope it holds many joys." Olivia says as they nod.

Just then, Rockruff suddenly rushes off as Ash yells, "Rockruff! Where are you going?"

But Rockruff runs away and Kukui says, "Strange, Rockruff really acts differently from before...is that really the effect of almost evolving?"

"We have to find it or else he might be in trouble." Lillie says, and Olivia says, "I'll help you find it."

Now everyone is searching for Rockruff, they spend the whole afternoon doing that and it is dusk, they finally find Rockruff, who is fighting Tapu Lele.

"I don't want to hurt you more, just give up, you can't win me." Tapu Lele says to Rockruff, but he doesn't listen and uses Rock Throw again.

"Chosen one…" Tapu Lele floats around him, then Rockruff stops his attacks and feels more guilty.

"Rockruff, I know you are close to evolving, I don't hate you for your mistakes, it is in the past." Ash says.

Rockruff then sees Ash, Lillie, Professor Kukui, Burnet, Olivia and Tapu Lele, he nods. Rockruff looks at the sunset intently and the sun's glow turns luminous green.

Rockruff howls and starts to evolve, it becomes neither midday nor midnight form.

"Lycanroc…" Ash says in shock.

"I have never seen this form before." Lillie says.

Kukui says, "Green Flash is very rare and can only be seen when the sun rises or sets."

Olivia then starts crying, "Green Flash is a rare phenomenon, anyone who sees it can receive good luck."

Then Ash and Lillie hug their friend, and Tapu Lele just leaves without saying anything, and Lillie frowns as she wants to ask the deity about Nebby, but she lost her chance.

Rotom says, "Dusk Form Lycanroc, Data updated. Bathed in the setting sun of evening, Lycanroc has undergone a special kind of evolution. An intense fighting spirit underlies its calmness."
