August 9. Pendragon. The Royal Palace.

Last night's banquet ended pretty well, despite the sudden leave of the Emperor. After His Majesty and his green-haired advisor left the guests, the night continued in the same calm atmosphere. However, with the celebration over, it was time to return to important business. And that's why the Knights of The Round found themselves inside the war room.

There was an intense silence inside the chamber as the knights glanced at each other with a confused look. They weren't alone there; in fact, Princess Marrybell and Lady Leila were present as well, both in their official uniforms now. No one knew the true purpose of why they were called there. They were all waiting for Lelouch.

Well, except for Peter who after the last night wasn't fully sober. The First Knight wished he was closer to his old friend to not so gently 'remind' him where he was, but Cinder was sitting between them. Arthur looked at him with concern while Bishop sighed with disappointment. At least Arthur was there to help him keep an eye on Peter. The old knight sent a knowing look to the young Reaper.

The Knight of One looked around the rectangular table. Neither Cinder nor Arthur had any idea why they were summoned by the Emperor. He glanced at the Princess and Advisor Malcal but it was obvious they didn't either. The only person who might have had the idea was the dealer of their intelligence, Dianna or D.S as she preferred, and the girl with unusual hair was tired. One look at the bags under her eyes was enough to see. The last person was the maid, last Sayoko. The only Japanese person there was silent and didn't move, patiently waiting for her lord to join them. Bishop wondered if it was related to the reason why their Emperor called them. Didn't help the fact that last night the security around the palace was doubled.

They would get their answer sooner rather than later as the huge golden doors opened and Lelouch walked in. The White Emperor was escorted by the captain of his royal guard and loyal pizza-lover. Jeremiah and C.C. were standing on his left and right side respectfully. Everyone immediately stood up and was about to bow when their Emperor stopped them. He gestured for them to take a seat before he took his place at the head of the table.

Once again there was silence as everyone waited for him to speak. The Emperor said nothing and slowly eyed everyone at the table. Bishop could feel that everyone was on edge, except for Peter looked like he might fall asleep any second. This continued for a few moments before their leader finally spoke.

"I'm sure all of you are confused about why I called you today. First, I should apologize for forcing you to return to service so early."

Bishop cleared his throat before he spoke. "Your Majesty, we all understood the gravity of the situation." Something serious happened last night, it was obvious to everyone in the room. "We're your subjects and will answer your call anytime."

Lelouch gave him a small smile.

"I'm pleased to hear that. Hmm, before we move to the main topic of the day, I feel like I should share a few things with you." He looked down. "Last night was supposed to be the time we all can relax and celebrate our achievements...and yet someone decided to ruin the mood. I received a call from interfering individuals. My siblings, Schneizel and Cornelia."

Everyone tensed. The former prime minister and the wanted prince called them like this? This was suspicious. Even Peter became interested.

"Did they call to congratulate you? Oh, how sweet of them." He laughed and Bishop sighed again. Princess Marrybell was the second to voice her thoughts.

"This is strange. Brother Schneizel and sister Cornelia wouldn't call so casually unless they wanted something."

Her beloved brother nodded.

"You're right, Marry. Our enemies demanded that I step down and give up the throne to the true Empress or I will face consequences." Lelouch chuckled.

The reactions from these present were immediate. Bishop land Jeremiah looked furious while Cinder just laughed at such a stupid proposition. Leila thought of it as nothing more than an empty threat. However, both she and Marrybel quickly noticed something.

"Wait, empress? As in a princess, Cornelia demands a throne for herself?" Arthur was confused. Peter smirked.

"Or this Schneizel guy decided to make some changes and cut something off." Peter chuckled.

"Doesn't matter. How dare these traitors to question the rule of master Lelouch? This is a crime punishable by death." Jeremiah said as he crossed his hands. Royalty or not, they were enemies of his lord. Their fate was sealed.

Lelouch looked at them with a melancholic expression. If only it was so simple. C.C looked at him with concern, silently she took his hand and squeezed it. Her warlock gave her a small smile. The White Emperor opened his mouth, and his next words made everyone freeze.

"They want me to hand the throne to my little sister, Nunnally vi Britannia. Apparently, little Nunnally didn't die back in Tokyo. But instead of calling me to celebrate it, Nunnally announced herself as the true ruler of Britannia and declared war against me. Quite ludicrous, isn't it?"

Silence once again fell on everyone. But this time it was different. The reactions he received were predictable. Arthur looked confused. Leila had a surprised look but quickly started to think about how it might complicate everything. So did Cinder, who was busy trying to come up with a possible solution on how to solve this issue. The issue might be similar to an accident back in Moscow, the Knight of Two couldn't allow anything to stop her master.

"N-Nunnally is alive?" Marry looked heartbroken. However, Jeremiah, Bishop and Sayoko had the worst reaction.

For two knights who swore to serve and protect the vi Britannia line, this revelation was like a stab in the heart. Not only have they falsely believed the princess had died but it turns out she joined their enemies and was fighting against their master, her brother.

Sayoko didn't say anything, but tears started to collect in her eyes. However, these were tears of happiness. Her young mistress was alive, she might be on the wrong side but Lady Nunnally was alive. The maid couldn't believe it, the girl who was part of her family was alive after all...However, she also understood the main problem.

"And now we have princess Nunnally to worry about as well," D.S said with a sigh. Lelouch nodded.

"This isn't easy to take in, I understand. But it doesn't change the fact that Nunnally declared war on us, to me. And I'm not going to sit down and give up my empire just because my little sister asked for it." Lelouch said with a cold tone. Everyone was silent until Sayoko asked with a fearful tone.

"Master Lelouch, do you mean-"

"Yes, Sayoko. If Nunnally wants war, she will get it." Lelouch knew this won't be easy for her. To Sayoko, Nunnally was still a child. The same kind little girl who asked the maid how to make origami for her big brother. She couldn't believe that someone like Nunnally could do anything like that.

"But-but, your majesty. She is your little sister." Lelouch glanced at Bishop who had problems accepting it.

"And? She is collaborating with traitors and wants to undo everything we did until now. Something I won't allow. As far as I'm concerned, the only sister who still matters to me is sitting here." He eyed Marrybell. Despite the situation, she couldn't help but feel touched by his words. But even Marry had a hard time accepting this.

"Lelouch, you're my brother and emperor, I will follow you no matter what, but this… Are you sure? This is Nunnally we're talking about. The same Nunnally from our childhood." While Marry wasn't too close to the vi Britannia siblings, she loved both of them anyway. Among all Royal members, Lelouch and Nunnally were among few who welcomed Marrybell and her little sister with open arms. "You and I both knew how it is like to lose little sisters. But now that you know Nunnally is alive, you can get her back. I know how much she means to you."

Marrybell wasn't naive. She knew that conflict against Schneizel and Cornelia was inevitable, she was ready to fight them. But Nunnally was a different matter. Marry looked around the table, she could see that First Knight of The Round and Captain Gottwald shared her thoughts. However, Lelouch had a different view on this.

"Indeed, she is my little sister and that means she is my responsibility, she always was. I failed to protect her from F.L.E.I.J.A, because of that I believe she was dead. But now I see it was a mistake...However, it will not change my mind. She is just another enemy and will be defeated. I know some of you don't agree with it, but this must be done if we want to achieve a peaceful world."

Lelouch looked around. It wasn't hard to see who was unhappy with this decision. Jeremiah, Bishop and Sayoko were supposed to protect the Lamperouge siblings but now their Lord was asking them to fight his own sister. Marrybell was troubled but unlike the two zealous knights and a ninja maid, deep down Marry understood that she wouldn't change her brother's mind. Others had an easier time going along with this. For them, it was a shock but nothing that should change the direction. However, the only one who was concerned with a different matter was Peter as he silently eyed his best friend.

"Jeremiah, Bishop, Sayoko," Lelouch called his most loyal subjects. "I know how you might feel. I'm not going to force you to do something you don't desire but know that my decision won't be changed...However, don't be mistaken. I'm not thirsty for my sister's blood. Should Nunnally surrender or be captured alive, she will be convicted and imprisoned but nothing beyond that."

This made them feel easier. For the three of them fighting Nunnally won't be easy but as long as they know their master will let her live, they will breathe easily. However, the rest of the present there didn't have the same problem. While others didn't desire to spill her blood either, many of them understood how dangerous it might be to leave this problem unsolved.

Everyone knew Britannian history and how stable the empire was at a time of crisis similar to this. The last civil war that allowed Charles to rise to the throne was one of the bloodiest events in the history of Britannia. Inner fighting between Royals always left an ugly mark on the nation, not to mention outside forces that will love to use this opportunity. It went without saying that Black Knights and their Federation were the most worrying foe for the Empire.

"Right now our empire is united and powerful but one wrong move might shatter everything. Only one rival stands before Britannia to be the sole power on this planet. Many fear that war between our empire and the Federation is inevitable. Depending on what my siblings will do, this might be true." Everyone understood the gravity of the situation. The conflict with the dying European Union was akin to putting down an ill lion, its days of glory were over. However, a full out war with the UFN will be nothing like that. "At times like this, it is important to be organized and trust each other if we want...But in that case, we're already weakened since I wasn't completely honest with you."

"What do you mean, your majesty?" Bishop asked with a worried voice.

The White Emperor looked at those who knew his history, the truth behind Lelouch vi Britannia and the former leader of Black Knights, Zero. Jeremiah and Sayoko were taken aback but decided to stay still and trust their lord. D.S looked surprised but smirked, she expected this to come up sooner or later. Cinder's eyes went wide as the quick shock of realization formed on her face, she understood what Lelouch was implying but couldn't understand why her Emperor decided to share his most important secrets. The last person to learn about his history, Leila thought it was the best course of actions. Since Schneizel already knew about it and used this trick once, it would be better to make sure the accident with Black Knights won't repeat. His witch gave him a look of reassurance, they already talked over it.

Lelouch took a deep breath before starting his tale.

"My knights, sister, there is a story you must hear. A story about how I tried to fight my father before I took his life and throne. A story about how I started the Order that now covers half of the continent. About how I decided to unite and lead people who were conquered by Charles Britannia, about how I took the lives of my siblings. About the power that gave me a chance to change the world."

At first, those who didn't know the truth raised their eyebrows. But the more he spoke, the more they began to understand. Many emotions started to form inside them. Now, they knew. Lelouch saw it, he expected it and was ready. The White Emperor chuckled.

"Let's start from the beginning so you will understand why I took the mask, why I became Zero."

Unknown location.

Nunnally couldn't see but she could feel the uneasy aura in the room. Many were silent, one could even hear their breathing if they concentrated, but she felt their doubts about this plan, about her. Their eyes were studying her, still unsure how to feel about her. Nunnally looked down. She knew she wasn't as strong as the rest of her family. She was chosen for this position because she was the safest option. She understood that this was all part of the plan to stop Lelouch.

She was sitting in her wheelchair before two giant rows of people, all waiting for her to say a word. The huge official room was full of former Knights of The Round, soldiers and people who didn't kneel before Lelouch. Many of them were loyal to her father, some of them tried to stop and kill her brother. Nunnally knew that now Lelouch was her enemy, these people were her allies and yet she could feel that they didn't trust her with this position. Can she blame them? She, a little crippled girl who has been protected since her childhood. Now she was supposed to lead them in a fight against Lelouch and his Britannia.

She could feel Suzaku among the crowd but he couldn't comfort her. Nunnally couldn't see him but she was sure he was standing among the other knights, like them, he was waiting for her to say anything.

Nunnally felt a soft touch and immediately realized who it belonged to. She smiled at Cornelia's action but even now the blind princess sensed the doubt. A bitter smile formed on her face.

'Even big sister Cornelia is unsure...They don't believe in me.'

Her hands were shaking but Nunnally took a deep sigh before she spoke.

"T-he warriors of Britannia-! I'm Nunnally vi Britannia, the daughter of Marianne vi Britannia and Charles zi Britannia. I was chosen to lead you in our battle against my brother, self-proclaimed emperor Lelouch vi Britannia. Please, lend me your strength and I should lead you to victory-!"

Silence, none of them said a word. They continued to stare at her, their doubt only increased. Nunnally froze in her wheelchair, unsure what to do now. However, these doubts were gone the moment the new figure walked inside the room. The door opened as Schneizel entered. Nunnally could imagine how everyone stopped paying her attention and turned towards her brother. He gave them a small smile before walking towards and standing on her right side.

"Dear knights of the round. I know that many of you have questions about our decision. About the course of actions we have decided to take but do not worry. Everything that is happening is for the sake of bringing back Britannia which you swore to serve and protect. The same nation that is currently under my brother's unworthy control. Right now the fate of our homeland and the entire world is at stake. Lelouch is possessing the unnatural power that allows him to take over Britannia and do as he pleases. Today we will officially declare our opposition and ask the people of Britannia to side with us. Lelouch is a usurper, one we do not recognize as the true Emperor. For we already have a rightful monarch." Schneizel said as he turned towards her and bowed. "The Empress who will lead us, in this crusade, Nunnally vi Britannia!"

The surety of doubt and uneasiness was gone, replaced by confidence and fighting spirit. And yet, she wasn't the one who inspired them like this. It was Schneizel who made them believe in it, not her.

'Can I even do this? I know my role but if these people were doubting me, how will I convince the rest of Britannia and follow me?'

"Nunnally, it is time." Her thoughts were interrupted by Schneizel.

Nunnally nodded as the new person joined them. Diethard Ried, a former head of intelligence of Black Knights, defected after the 'death' of Zero. Nunnally didn't like this man. The former reporter was giving her a deceiving aura. Like the rest of Black Knights, this man betrayed her brother but decided to join Schneizel. That's what was concerning her. Like many others, Diethard was there because of either Schneizel and Cornelia, not her. While she knew her place, Nunnally also understood that these people won't listen to her unless either of her older siblings will order so.

A bitter feeling formed inside the little princess. Last night, during her conversation with Lelouch, many things were said. She declared herself as his enemy, demanding he surrender to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. She was called the True Empress and yet her brother only laughed and asked who is really in control. No, he didn't even ask and just started to speak with Schneizel. Lelouch called her a puppet, a tool used by others. She didn't want to believe in it. But now, when she could see the difference between how people treated her and Schneizel, Nunnally was having second thoughts.

Nunnally vi Britannia felt doubt in her heart but she couldn't do anything other than follow Schneizel's plan. Follow someone else… huh, the more she thought about it the more she felt like Lelouch was right about one thing yesterday.

"Smile, Your Majesty.," Diethard smirked as he prepared the camera. "In a few seconds, the entire world will hear you."

'Even if Lelouch is right, it doesn't mean that will stop me. I-we should stop him and I don't care what role I should play...and yet, this feels wrong.'

Pendragon. The Royal Palace.

The dead silence filled the room. None of these who were present dared to move or utter any word. All were still in a state of shock from what they were told. After all, it wasn't every day you learned your leader was the person who created the biggest enemy of your nations since the days of Napoleon.

Their White Emperor, Lelouch vi Britannia, was Zero, the Man of Miracles and leader of the Black Knights.

He told them everything. Starting from the day he received this mystical power, Geass and ending it with his coronation. He didn't hold back anything, speaking about how he created the Order of Black Knights and how he started a revolution in order to destroy Britannia. Lelouch told them about how he killed two of his siblings. That he was the one who should be blamed for the Euphemia Massacre. About the true intentions of Charles and V.V… including the true fate of Marriane vi Britannia and her secret.

How can anyone comprehend this information?! Not only have they learned their emperor created their biggest rival but also has some sort of magic that allows him to control people. The last part was most concerning to some of them.

However, among the expected reactions of shock, there was one who started to scheme. Cinder was among those who knew everything even before Lelouch shared it with others. She was his White Queen and was given the privilege to learn the truth before ours but at the moment she was a concern. Not about hearing the full story, Cinder already knew some parts of it. No, what worried the second knight was the dangerous possibility this revelation could bring.

Even now, she could see the fear in the eyes of Arthur and how Princess Marrybell still had problems accepting the truth. However, the one reaction she was looking for was of the Knight of One, Bishop. The old knight covered his face with his hands as he looked down. It was obvious which part of the story affected him the most. Being a fan of Marriane vi Britannia, it wasn't hard to imagine how he felt about learning the truth behind her 'death'.

Surprisingly, the Knight of Three, Peter showed less shock or any negative reaction. He was surprised and some parts of the story actually made him invested but overall his main concern was the state of his best friend. Cinder had come to the conclusion that after learning the truth, whatever direction Bishop might choose, Peter will follow his old friend.

Whatever issues they might have with the Lelouch's truth, Cinder didn't share them. She made up her mind the day she was recruited by her emperor and wasn't about to back down. Should her fellow Knights of The Round rebel, she will act and protect her Emperor. The White Queen had her own reasons to trust Lelouch no matter what. Still, she would prefer to avoid the worst scenario. And she was sure the others felt the same. One look at Lelouch's most loyal agents was enough to see that they had the same idea. Both the cyborg bodyguard and the deadly maid will act if necessary but at the same time, they know that acting without orders is forbidden in such a situation.

"I can see that it isn't easy to accept what I just said. And I'm sure you all have questions." Lelouch started since no one could break the silence. "In that case, I'm ready to answer all of them."

Arthur and Marrybell glanced at each other, waiting for another to start first. Seconds later, the princess was first to speak.

"Your majesty-Lelouch. I can see that some people already knew about your past in Japan."

He nodded. "Indeed. It is obvious that C.C. knew everything from the start but besides her Jeremiah, Sayoko, Cinder, D.S and Leila were informed as well." Marry narrowed her eyes as she looked at the Second Knight of The Round.

"May I ask those who already know. How do you feel about it?" Marry eyes never left Cinder. "I have conflicted thoughts about all of it but first I want to know how others felt about it."

"Well, my first reaction was a shock, followed by fear but I was interested as well. After all, it's not every day you learn about something like this and proposes to join the new system. The Geass part was frightening at first but ultimately I was more excited to learn about its existence. His Majesty's past as Zero didn't make me suspect him at all, in fact, it only made the working proposition all more intriguing." Cinder smirked.

"Intriguing?" Marry asked with a confused tone. "Can you please elaborate it, Lady Fall?"

"Serving under the man who killed and destroyed everything I hated would have been enough for me, but learning that Emperor Lelouch was fighting old Britannia for so long is quite breathtaking. I won't miss the former emperor or his regime, so working to change it and crush the old nobility was everything I wanted...Besides, I got even more than I wanted." Marry bit her lip at Cinder's lustful smile but moved on.

"And what about you, lady Malcal? How does the Messiah of Europe feel about the worst enemy of Britannia being its Emperor?" Leila bitterly smiled.

"Heh, I could never get used to this title. But if you want to know, princess Marrybell, I will answer. Before I made an alliance with Lelouch, I shared Zero's desire to stop Britannia and its hegemony. However, my main concern always was and will be the prosperity of the people of Europe. Lelouch isn't his father and I feel like I can trust him." Leila gave Lelouch a sincere smile.

"And Geass? How do you feel about it?" At Marry's question, Leila tilted her head.

"It is without question the most disturbing part of this story. The power to control minds sounds as scary as it sounds ridiculous. And yet it exists. Similar to Cinder, I was scared at first but quickly was able to move past it. I suppose the main reason is that I have a countermeasure to it, but also because I can trust Lelouch. This entire conversation only proves my choice to trust was earned."

Marrybell tilted her head. "In what way?"

It was C.C. who answered. "Think about it, little princess. Since Lelouch has something like Geass, why bother to waste time and tell you all about his past." The witch said with a smug expression. "He could have used it to turn you all into mindless obedient puppets and yet he shared his story. Something he wouldn't have done before. If that isn't proof that he wants you to follow him willingly, I don't know what to tell you."

Marry said nothing to her and only turned towards Lelouch.

"Brother is that true?"

"Yes." Lelouch nodded." After what happened with the Order of Black Knights I realized that I need to be more open with my followers. As C.C said, the option to use Geass was always here but I didn't want to do it. I want to create a world without wars, a peaceful and gentle future. Using Geass to force my will on everyone feels wrong. I feel like my father would have done it without hesitation and that's why I'm afraid to even think about it. I know that it might sound a little hypocritical coming from me, after all, I used my power multiple times to take away the will of other people. Only a few times did I feel remorse but only because I knew some of them personally. Let's not lie to ourselves, I'm not a saint, I kill and am willing to kill if needed but I realise that mindless slaughter in the name of my dream will make me follow Charles's footprints. Something I have no desire to do. I will rather die than become like that man."

"Lelouch..." Marry became worried as did others. D.S and Cinder looked at their lover with worry while C.C placed her hand on top of his.

The former Zero stood up and looked around the table. "Before all of this, I was focused on avenging my mother. I wanted to kill Charles for everything he did to me and Nunnally but soon I saw the consequences of my desire for revenge. I lost my friends, loved ones, and everyone who was with me is now either dead or thinks I'm a monster. Because of my actions, I chased off those who were there for me. Now I'm Emperor and my actions affect millions. Many times I was told people trust me because I'm not like my father but the more I hear it, the more afraid I am to repeat his doing, to follow his madness. Charles thought of himself as a saviour who would rid this world of lies. The old bastard didn't mind lying to everyone around him, to his brother, to his children, to his nation. But am I different? I want to create a world without wars, a world where people like my parents cannot rise to power and harm others… And yet I feel like I'm stepping on the same path Charles took decades ago. Did I go too far or can I go further? Was he asking himself this question too?"

Charles was a monster who didn't care about his family. He used and killed anyone who stood in his way. Even V.V, the brother who shared his fate and desire, was killed the moment he was no longer useful. Charles wanted to create the world without lies and yet he did nothing but lied to everyone around. He lied to his family about the death of Marriane, he lied to his nation about his intentions, he lied to his own brother, his closest ally. Geass allowed him to do unspeakable deeds and Lelouch was afraid to follow in the same footsteps.

Many could argue that Lelouch was already beyond the point of no return but he will disagree. He committed atrocities that cannot be justified or forgiven but for as long as Lelouch understands it, he isn't lost. He could use Geass on everyone and force his vision on people but Lelouch doesn't want such a world. The White Emperor wants to create a peaceful world by his own means. Geass is just a tool to deal with the most troublesome groups in the fastest way, like the purebloods. Lelouch doesn't want it to be the only method to achieve his goal. It will make him no different from Charles. And yet the possibility of him doing that was still present.

"Marry, let me ask you something. Am I similar to our father?" Lelouch asked with a cold tone while his sister struggled to answer.

"...No, no you aren't. People might say you and him have many things in common but they will be wrong. Everyone in the royal family knew that father only thought of us as tools. Princes and princesses were born to serve him as his tools, not as his children. No one was naive enough to believe he had any love for us." Marry chuckled. "Being the child of Charles zi Britannia was a lonely life. And that's the main difference between you two, Lelouch. Ever since childhood, I could see that you were passionate, your love for Nunnally or Euphemia was proof of that. And yet..."

"And yet I killed the latter while the former is now my enemy." Lelouch grimaced. "Sadly I'm not an example of the best big brother."

"I disagree," Marry denied confidently. "The revenge wasn't the only thing that motivated you to fight father and Britannia. Your love for Nunnally and desire to see her happy was a factor as well. Lelouch, you know that I lost my little sister too. If I was in your position, I would have done the same. I don't care that you were Zero or that you wanted to destroy Britannia. Many would want revenge after everything father and the old empire did to them. What matters to me is that you did it to create a world where your little sister could live happily. If Euliya was alive right now, I would have done anything to make her happy." Tears formed in her eyes. "As an older sibling myself I can't judge your actions since I aimed my fury at terrorists as you did at Britannia. Tell me, Lelouch, how do you feel about Euphemia's death? You already said that you don't seek the death of Nunnally, but if your hand will be forced, what will you do?"

Others were silent, everyone was interested to learn about it too. The leader was thinking about the one girl who wanted to solve every problem peacefully, so he and Nunnally could have returned to her. Euphemia, his first love and the victim of his power. She said she wished to return to old times when they were a complete family but it was impossible. After everything that happened nothing could have returned that innocent time. Because of Lelouch, Euphemia and her attempts to bring peace ended in bloodshed. What about Nunnally then? A child who he protected for years, his little sister who sheltered from the cruel reality of the world. As her older brother, Lelouch tried his best to make sure Nunnally would never experience the horrors of war again. And yet he failed at that. Would he fail with her as he did with Euphemia? Would Nunnally become another victim of his vision?

He didn't want it.

"... I will never forget the day I killed her. That moment changed everything. On that day, I lost my sister and my best friend. Euphemia's dream to make Japan a peaceful place where both Britannians and Japanese could live in peace is something I will create no matter what. I killed her but I will make sure her dream is achieved no matter what. As for Nunnally...she was part of my reason to fight the world and now she wants to fight me. I will stop at nothing to achieve my goals, even if it means fighting her, but I will do everything in my power to avoid a repeat of Euphemia's fate. Despite everything, Nunnally has no ill intentions or at least so I hope. She is a child who is protected from the dangers of this world. Like Euphy, she wants peace. She shouldn't suffer a similar fate. Does this answer satisfy you, Marry?"

"Yes." Marrybell happily smiled. "Despite everything that happened to you, I can still see the same boy from my childhood. The one who wanted to make his sister happy. Geass or not, I don't care but I want to help you. I already told you before on the day we had reunited." Marry said as she bowed. "Command me and I shall strike your enemies."

"Even Nunnally?" Lelouch couldn't help but ask.

"Like you, I will do everything in my power to defeat her without taking her life. Lelouch, you must understand she feels confused and betrayed. Especially since only Schneizel and Cornelia are there to comfort her. As her older sister, it is my responsibility to protect her from ill influence, especially when it is an enemy of the state." She kept her smile. "Lelouch, no matter what will happen, we will rescue her. You have my word, my dear brother."

Despite her optimism, Lelouch stayed silent. He already promised himself that neither Nunnally nor anyone else will stop him in his journey. But no matter what he said or promised to himself, Lelouch couldn't get rid of the small part in his heart that was screaming to save her.

'No, Nunnally is now my enemy. She said herself and if so, she should be treated as such...but I cannot afford to repeat the accident with Euphemia. I will defeat Nunnally and show her that my new world is the only possible future for everyone!' At the very least, now he was sure about Marry. That left only three knights.

"What about you, Sir Arthur? I imagine you have even more questions you want to ask."

The young knight was startled by the question but did his best to calm down. Lelouch made him into a Knight of The Round because he needed more skilled pilots, but the boy was innocent. As innocent as soldiers could be, he wasn't a believer in Social Darwinism and didn't desire the blood of others. He deserved honesty from his lord for every challenge Lelouch made him go through. Compared to others, Lelouch was completely fine with the possibility of Arthur deciding to relinquish his title. It would be a shame to lose a knight with good potential but the emperor didn't want to force soldiers who suffered enough to fight for him if the young knight didn't desire to do so.

"I-I...When I was private we were told by our superiors about Zero and his Black Knights. At that time I didn't really care about any of it, just another loud terrorist. It was across the ocean on another part of the planet, far away from me. But then we saw the news about the Battle of Narita, about how hundreds of soldiers and civilians were crushed under the mountain. Then the Black Rebellion. We were told about how Zero killed Britannian people because he wanted to see our homeland in ruins, our families massacred and everything we believed in destroyed...Is that true, your majesty?" Arthur asked with a scared tone.

"Yes," Lelouch said simply. "I hated everything about the old Britannia. Its policies, its system, its ideology, it is the way of existence. I wanted to destroy my homeland. And I did." He said with mild amusement. "Look around, Sir Arthur. I accomplished what I wanted. Everything I hated about Britannia is gone, I changed all of it and I intended to do more. You're a good example of that. You aren't noble or related to nobility in any way. A simple private without any background becomes the Fourth Knight of The Round because I saw the potential in you. And I still see it, you can become something more...but if you want to resign, I won't force you to stay. As I mentioned before, I want all of you to follow me because of your own choice. What is your answer, Sir Arthur?"

The blonde knight remained silent, he thought about it carefully. Zero was the enemy of the Empire, someone who killed thousands of Britannian soldiers. Everything Zero did was a result of Britannian policies in Japan. People wanted their homeland free from tyrants and Arthur understood that but how many regular privates like him were killed by masked revolutionaries? And now Zero was sitting in front of Arthur. His Emperor, the man he swore to serve and protect was the same person who slaughtered sons and daughters of Britannia. This wasn't easy to take in. But at the same time, Lelouch saved him in Paris. His Majesty made him into a Knight of The Round, something Arthur could never dream of. As Lord Bishop taught him, knights served their master no matter what and Arthur made a promise to become the true knight worthy to serve his master. Emperor Lelouch wanted to destroy Britannia but in the end, he helped more people after killing emperor Charles. Without nobility and the number systems, millions were able to achieve more under a new ruler than before. Did the fact that this was achieved by a person who killed thousands matter? Did it matter if the end result was a peaceful world? If Emperor Lelouch truly wished to achieve such a world, why shouldn't Arthur support him?

Arthur turned towards his teacher who was still unwilling to face their lord. The young knight was troubled by sudden revival as well but at the same, he couldn't allow himself to do what Lord Bishop was doing. Gathering all his confidence, he spoke.

"Y-your majesty, before you picked me up I was a simple private who lost his friends. I have no connection to Japan or anything that happened there because of Zero. I can't say I will ever miss Prince Clovis. I understand why people mourn Princess Euphemia and now I understand how you feel about her, but I didn't swear my loyalty to them or former emperor Charles. I'm your knight. I swore an oath to you and If you want to make the world into something better, I won't question your actions or your past. However, I have to say this a lot to take in. Zero, the Black Knights, Geass. I have no intentions to abandon my position but I will ask for time to collect my thoughts."

Everyone looked at him with amazement, it was truly unusual to see a normally shy knight speak so courageously. What they didn't know was the fact that Arthur was barely holding this persona. All of them were staring at him, Arthur was doing his best to not become red from embarrassment and run away from the room with screams. No, he can't do it! He can't embarrass himself like this in front of lord Bishop and his Emperor. But after this meeting is over, Arthur won't come out of his room until everyone will forget about his false bravado!

After the quick surprise from the blonde knight's unexpected speech died down, Lelouch smiled and motioned for him to take a seat.

"I appreciate your loyalty and your trust in me, Sir Arthur. Do not worry, if you need time I shall grant it. But be advised, with my siblings making their moves, I might call for your service soon." Lelouch smiled as Arthur nodded and quickly hid his face from everyone else. Peter was sitting next to him and couldn't help but ask.

"Hey, Arthur. Where did you get all of this knightly nonsense?" He asked quietly so no one heard them.

"Lord Bishop made me learn the way knights of old spoke before their lords," Arthur whispered, his face still covered. Peter hummed before he turned to Lelouch.

"We didn't interact a lot, Lord Thomson. I trusted Bishop with your position and wasn't disappointed so far. Having cunning and noble knights is always welcomed. However, sometimes the ruler needs people who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. I want you to know that despite my desire to change the world, I will require the service of men like you." Every king and emperor needed executioners, Lelouch wasn't different. Words alone can't get him the world, he needs people like Peter and Cinder as well. "If you have anything on your mind, feel free to speak."

"Well, I'll be frank, kid. I don't care about your past as Zero or that you have some sort of magic."

"Oh, is that so?" Lelouch raised an eyebrow.

"Yup. Actually, that actually makes my work even cooler. Just think about it! I'm working under the guy who was banished from his country as a child and survived through war. Years later he had become a masked revolutionary in a slim costume and created the powerful enemy of his nation, using his magic like stuff to take over the minds. Only later to take over his homeland that banished him. And now you're THE Emperor! This all reads like bad fanfiction but damn it! It is fun!"

Jeremiah narrowed his eyes, not liking that his fellow one-eyed friend was making his master's tragic life sound like some kind of fiction. Lelouch on another hand agreed with the disrespectful knight.

'Even I can agree that some parts of my life sound like a plot of a made-up story to entertain teenagers. Hmm, perhaps in the future someone might even make a movie about me, that will be fun.' Many people in his empire liked to dig into his past and mad\ke theories about him. It wasn't too far fetched. Diethard did want to make a documentary about him. 'Actually, now that I think about it. This might be a good way to get back at the obsessed reporter for his betrayal.'

Peter laughed like a mad man but froze as he realized something. "Wait! You have a mystic force that allows you to manipulate people. You united people who were looked down upon by self-entitled assholes from the mainland. You started a war between them and then used the opportunity to kill people who supported the old system before taking over and declaring yourself as Emperor." His one eye went wide as he put pieces together. "Do you have a scary cyborg assassin/general who despite his badassery failed his job multiple times?"

"I'm not scary," Jeremiah complained from his seat, offended at this part. He glanced at Sayoko. "Right?"

The Japanese maid smiled and tried to comfort the cyborg while Peter had become even more excited.

"Holy fuck, it is actually a prequel!" Others looked confused at his comment. No one but Arthur understood him." I'm gonna be honest, kid. I liked you before just because you killed that son of a bitch Charles but now I actually want to work with you. If only to see how all of it will end." Peter declared with determination. "But! I will leave the final word to William. He is the one who spoke up for me so I will see what he has to say." He glanced at his best friend who looked at him with surprise.

"Peter?" Bishop spoke for the first time since learning the truth. The Knight of One had a problem understanding his old friend's logic, if Peter had any left that is.

"You heard me right, old bastard. I'm here only because you didn't leave me to rot in Alcatraz. If you leave, so will I. No point staying here if I can't annoy you." The one-eyed man said with a smirk. "You put me in so many shitty life-threatening situations that now I have some kind of Stockholm syndrome. Can't leave you alone anymore."

Bishop said nothing but one could see how corners of lips were slightly raised. He quickly coughed before he turned towards his Emperor. William and Lelouch stared at each other. The White Emperor knew why his first knight was troubled by.

"You loved my mother," Lelouch said the obvious. Bishop sadly nodded.

"Compared to the rest of backstabbing and deceiving knights of the round at that time, Marianne was a breath of fresh air. She was unlike anyone else. She was both deadly in combat and elegant in daily life. I wasn't the only one who was captured by her charm but her heart was taken by the man who didn't deserve a woman like her...Or at least so I thought."

"Sir Bishop-"

"I always knew that she was killed because of Charles' doing but to learn that Marianne was assassinated by her brother-in-law because of jealousy. This is wrong. Even worse, the fact that she had this Geass and was hiding inside the body of the little girl. Master Lelouch do you understand what this means?!" William asked with a horrifying realization. "All those years she was alive while you and lady Nunnally were hiding in another county. She was alive and with Charles while you were in Japan, surviving on your own through war and in the nation that hated you. It means she did nothing to protect you two when your life was in constant danger. That isn't the Lady Marianne whom I loved and respected. I-I don't know what to think anymore." Bishop lowered his head in defeat. "I attempted to kill Charles while she was alive. She probably knew why I did this, and yet she didn't care about her own children while I went to prison because of you and Princess Nunnally."

The assembled knights and others were silent, they didn't know what to say to the old knight. Bishop was ready to die for the sake of a woman who didn't bother to care about her own children. Peter silently patted his friend on the back. Lelouch's face was neutral. The time when he cared about Marianne is long gone. For him, that woman was no better than Charles and deserved her fate, but he could see how much she meant to Bishop. And not to him alone.

"Master Lelouch, If I may." Jeremiah, someone who worshipped his mother as well asked. His master nodded and the loyal cyborg turned towards the Knight of One. "Lord Bishop, I understand how you feel right now. After the supposed death of lady Marrianne, I was confused and lost. I didn't know what to do anymore. Neither Prince Lelouch nor Princess Nunnally were there, so I couldn't protect them either. For years I lived for the sake of her memory. It was like that until fate gave me the chance to serve the vi Britannia line again. I swore a new oath to Master Lelouch and I was ready to die for him. I'm still ready to do it."

"But what about Marianne's Gea-"

Jeremiah interrupted Bishop. "The lady Marianne I respected and loved died ten years ago in her house. The one who was slain by Master Lelouch was nothing more than her ghost, perverted by Charles and his mad thirst for power. I won't allow it to affect my loyalty to my lord in any way. If anything, Master Lelouch put her to rest for the last time. That's what I believe in anyway."

After what happened in C's world, Jeremiah was told everything. Lelouch still remembered that moment. The Orange Knight was shocked but not once did he question his lord or his plans. Jeremiah remained loyal to him despite everything.

'I killed the one whom he loved and yet he still follows me. After everything that happened between us, Jeremiah decided to continue serving me. Huh, I feel like a knight like him is wasted on a lord like me.' For his service, Gottwald deserves nothing but the highest honour. Lelouch was confident that the cyborg knight wouldn't ask for anything from him, but it was still within his responsibility to reward him.

Returning to Bishop, the first knight glanced from the royal captain to Peter and then to Lelouch.

"Are you fine with this, Your Majesty? Can I continue to respect the memory of Lady Marianne who died all these years ago? Can I continue to hold that image of her in high regard?" He asked with an unsure, pleading tone. Lelouch thought about it before speaking.

"Do you want to? Even after learning the truth?" Lelouch asked.

Bishop hesitated. "I-...your mother inspired me in the past, when I was lost she showed me the way. This truth is changing my perspective of her. But deep down, I want to believe the Lady Marriane I respected was true, even if only for some time. That Marriane the Flash wasn't just a lie and that there was a time when she was a noble soul." his eyes stared at Lelouch. "Do I have a right to believe in this lie, your majesty?

"I can't think of my mother in the same way anymore. As you said before, she knew and did nothing to protect me and Nunnally when we were in danger. Such a person doesn't deserve the right to be called a parent or love of her children. But I understand that both you and Jeremiah loved her. Personally, I don't want to encourage it." Surprisingly, both C.C and Peter nodded. "But if Marianne the Flash was a woman worthy of the respect of true knights like you and Jeremiah, I won't forbid you two to respect the memory of a dead person."

"Thank you, Your Majesty. For allowing this old knight to keep this part of memory." Bishop bowed." As Lord Jeremiah said, I cannot allow it to affect my own loyalty to you. I was chosen as the First Knight of The Round and I shall carry this honour with pride. I care not about my liege's past, I cannot judge you for revolting against your bastard father since I tried it too but failed. And I don't care about something like Geass to make me question my oath to you, Your Majesty."

"So, does it mean we have an understanding?" Lelouch asked with an excited tone as a devilish smile formed on his face.

He received his answer when Bishop rose up from his seat and knelt before Lelouch. The rest of the knights did the same.

"We're the Knights of The Round Table, chosen by Your Majesty to carry your will. We're the swords that will cut your enemies. We're the shield that will protect your reign. We swore an oath to serve you until our last breath, our lives belong to you." Bishop spoke for them all. Neither of his knights disagreed, even Peter acted accordingly. Marry looked from her place and bowed.

"While I'm not a knight but like them, I'm still your majesty's subject. Brother, please give me your orders."

Sayoko bowed while Jeremiah rose up and repeated after the knights. The only ones still sitting were D.S, C.C and Leila. Lelouch smirked as he looked across them, he gave them a choice to leave if they wanted and they decided to stay. What a wonderful outcome!

"Rise my loyal knights! You entrusted your lives to me and I shall not let you down. We have a job to do."

"What is your command, sire?" Bishop asked as Lelouch's violet eyes sparked.

"I don't think it is a secret for anyone here that I have my own vision for what this world should be. I always wanted to change this world as I saw fit. Before I thought the only way to do this was by killing Charles and destroying Britannia. But now I see that it is more complicated. I desire to see a future where people like my father and uncle will never rise to power. Where the strong won't abuse their authority over the weak. Where families won't stab each other in the back, where no nation stands above others just because of its false belief in superiority. I want to create the reality where no child will repeat the fate that I and Nunnally suffered because of Charles. But there is only one way for such a future to exist...under my absolute rule."

Some of them already understood this goal, others had a guess but until now weren't completely sure. Marry was of the latter.

"So, world domination, huh? Can't say I didn't expect it but that still sounds impossible, brother." Lelouch smirked.

"Dear sister, don't forget who I am. I'm the Man of Miracles. Impossible is just a name of a challenge I shall accept. With your help, I will achieve this reality. Hear my words!" Lelouch shouted as he rose up and put his hand over his chest. "We will fight. We will conquer. We will kill but not for the sake of violence. No. We will fight for the sake of the future where the entire human race is united under one banner. My banner… Do I have your cooperation?"

"Pointless question, Lelouch." His witch said with amusement. "But do not forget about Nunnally."

"I won't, speaking about her-" The moment the subject returned to his sister, the doors to the room were kicked as a servant rushed in. Jeremiah was about to yell about interrupting but Lelouch stopped him. The poor servant looked exhausted and terrified.

"Your majesty! S-she is on TV! Princess Nunnally vi Britannia!" Lelouch narrowed his eyes but his smirk didn't leave his face.

'So, they've already started.'

Special Administrated Zone of Japan. Ikaruga.

"Hear me, people of Britannia. I'm Nunnally vi Britannia, the rightful Empress and ruler of the Holy Britannian Empire!"

The original group of Black Knights stared at the screen when the face of a little girl appeared. None of them expected the sister of their foe alive and well but the moment she showed up on TV, all of their attention was focused on her. The entire world was watching her.

"N-Nunnally? But, Lelouch thought she was dead." Kallen whispered with a shocked expression.

"Then he was mistaken," Kaguya answered. Her green eyes never left the young princess who was calling herself Empress. "This might complicate things."

"I know that some of you might be asking how I can still be alive. Truth is, I was alive ever since the Second Battle for Tokyo. I was saved by my brother Schneizel and sister Cornelia. After the horrific battle, my siblings and I were hiding and watching how my brother violently took the throne. How Lelouch forced the entire royal family to obey him. How his hunger for power made him go to war with Europe. The Union might have been the first to take the shot but it was Lelouch who desired such an outcome. He gladly took advantage of it and conquered the rest of the continent. My older brother is slowly going mad with power and is unfit to be a ruler. The image you have of him is nothing but beautiful lies. Lelouch vi Britannia is a ruthless man who won't hesitate to burn down cities if it means achieving his goals."

"I like her already," spoke Chiba. Kallen glared at her but before she could say anything, Nunnally continued.

"And that's why I ask you, brave citizens of Britannia to rise up against the lies of my brother and support me in my fight against him. Don't be mistaken. I don't desire to be an empress that people won't accept. I'm just a girl who wants to see this conflict solved peacefully."

"Good luck convincing anyone!" Tamaki shouted, many agreed with his comment.

"I'm not naive and understand that many of you think I'm just a little girl who doesn't know what she is doing. And I will agree. Since my childhood, the world around me was nothing but darkness. I can't do anything on my own and need the help of others. I know my limits and that's why I have only three intentions to accomplish as Empress of Britannia. First, the arrest of my brother Lelouch vi Britannia for his crimes against peace and the world. Second, to give Schneizel el Britannia and Kururugi Suzaku a fair trial for their usage of F.L.E.I.J.A against the people of Japan. And finally-" Nunnally stopped and took a deep breath. "My third and last order will be the full decolonisation of the Holy Britannian Empire."

"WHAT?!"

No one knew who shouted, perhaps they all did. None of them could stay silent or calm. Even usually carefree Rakshata was taken aback by this news. Kallen didn't know what to think. Was Nunnally as insane as her big brother?!

"Since I was a little girl I was able to hear what common people thought about Britannian rule. I was living in Japan with my brother Lelouch in exile. I couldn't see but I could hear and feel how Japanese people felt about being ruled by a foreign power who conquered them. All the hate, fear and pain finally resulted in the creation of the Black Knights. Many people died on both sides. And Japan wasn't the only one who suffered under Britannian rule like this. I know for a fact that every colony was at some point fighting for independence, only to be brutally crushed by the iron fist of the Empire. The reign of my father and those before him brought only pain to native populations. I shall end this. That's why! I swear that once I become Empress, all of my power will be focused on the dismantlement of the Britannian Empire. I ask all of you to help me in this dream. Not just citizens of Britannia but people across the world. Black Knights, Federation, I ask you to assist me in my journey to create a peaceful world where we all can live in harmony."

Nunnally stopped for a moment. Two familiar figures joined her. Everyone immediately recognized Schneizel and Cornelia. However, soon the rest of the old Knights of The Round joined the frame. All of them kneeled before the little girl in a wheelchair. The camera started to move backwards and more people were seen. Soldiers, field medics, engineers and so on, all kneel before her.

"I have the full support of my siblings and true knights of the round, all of us want to see the future where people can live in peace. I ask all those who were wronged by Britannia, join me and help me bring my brother to justice!"

Pendragon. The Royal Palace.

Lelouch and his entourage silently watched the little show his sister made. His lieutenants had a mix of reactions. Their emperor on another hand had only one. The White Emperor remained silent while the rest started to chat among themselves.

"Little Nunnally demands are almost impossible," D.S noted. A ballsy move from the little princess, in fact, it was insane to even ask for this. Guess she shared insanity with her big brother.

"Independence for the Britannian colonies...there will be many groups who will support her for this alone," Leila said. Even if Nunnally won't do it, the war between the two Royals will weaken the empire to the point where people will revolt on their own. Not to mention, F.L.E.I.J.A was a dangerous but useful tool of destruction. Even if Nunnally won't use it right now, she might try it as the last option in the future.

"But she already made an enemy of the loyalists. There are just as many nationalists who won't allow decolonisation of the Britannian Empire no matter what. She won't be able to convince them no matter what." Cinder said with narrowed eyes. "However, right now there are many former numbers in our military. Most likely many of them would love an idea of their home being free from us." She glanced at Leila. "Europe is the primary concern."

"The last thing people of Europe want is another conflict. They will stay out of this, I will make sure of that." The blonde messiah said with a determined voice. "I won't allow another war on European soil. We split enough of our blood, I won't allow more people to die for nothing."

"What do you think, Lelouch?" C.C calmly asked.

Her warlock didn't say anything. He continued to stare at the giant screen, watching as his little sister made the promise that he won't allow it to be fulfilled. Soon her speech ended and the broadcast stopped. Lelouch let out a sigh.

"Five points for presentation and the speech itself but one point for the climax. Besides, it is obvious Schneizel was the one who wrote or at least heavily affected the speech. Nunnally will need to improve in the future." Lelouch chuckled. "Still, not too bad for the first time, but I hope next time she will add any movement or some kind of visual effect to make it more exciting."

'Have to give credit where it's due, Nunnally surprised me with the decolonisation part. Both Leila and Cinder are right. Now my subjects will divide into two groups. Those who support Nunnally's wish and those who are against it. Loyalists will follow me but now I need to deal with possible traitors in the army. Hmm, I was anticipating something this troublesome but this surpassed any of my theories. Well done, little sister!'

"My lord?" Jeremiah called out. Lelouch glanced at him.

"Hmm?"

"What should we do about it? Lady Nunnally just declared her wish to put an end to Britannia. What are your orders?" Bishop asked with concern.

All of them looked at him, waiting for him to give a command. A sly smile appeared on his face. Lelouch let out a short laugh, stopping himself before it transformed into his usual uncontrolled insane laughter.

"Nunnally made her intentions clear. She spoke big words and now must follow them with bold actions. It is obvious we will face opposition from our own people. Doesn't matter, I was expecting issues and potential rebellion sooner or later. We must prepare for her attack and make our moves. Hear me! I'm not afraid to fight a war but I won't allow any of you to make the first shot. We will take a defensive position, waiting for Nunnally to make a wrong move, then we will strike." A familiar smile formed on his face, the smile that promised destruction and chaos to anyone who saw it. "Little Nunnally thinks she can defeat me in this game. Let's show her how wrong she is."

Lelouch knew that at some point there would be rebellion from within. He quickly dealt with nobles and purebloods, but it didn't mean that the common folk wouldn't rise against him. He destroyed any monument of Britannian superiority and waited in anticipation if radical nationalists might try to challenge him. But it never happened, instead, it looked like they would join his side against Nunnally. Meanwhile, the former numbers are more likely to side with his sister, which was ironic. He gave them more rights but didn't give them the independence many of them craved for generations. He expected Schneizel to raise some sort of revolt if only to slow him down.

"Our main concern will be the potential traitors in our army. My reforms gave former numbers the rights and opportunities that only Brtitannains had before. My, Schneizel and Nunnally managed to find a way to use them against me. Not bad, but I still have my Geass."

"Your Majesty is planning to use your power on our armies?" Bishop asked with a worried tone.

"Indeed. Fear not, I only do it out of necessity. I'm not planning to take away their will or anything like that. A few orders should be enough to minimize the number of these who will betray us. I hope all of you understand it but I will take criticism if anyone has something to say to me." Some looked at each other, a little concerned.

"But what happens if people will learn about it?" Arthur asked, worried about the fellow soldiers. "This might make them hate us."

It was D.S who answered. "Nunnally didn't say anything about Geass and she won't. Just imagine it, a self-proclaimed empress telling people that her brother has magic powers. They might have some evidence but it will be easy to refute. It will hurt their credibility, making people think she is delusional. Some will believe but it will be easy for us to call Geass a fairy tale. Nunnally and her allies must realize it."

"But they also must realize that since Lelouch has Geass, he can simply use it against traitors." Marry added. "Schneizel wouldn't do something so obvious if he knew that Lelouch would use his power on our military."

"Then he doesn't care about the military. He must understand that hoping for support from within the army is pointless if Lelouch can just turn them into puppets. No, the former prime minister aims for the masses. The normal people, those who will believe in Nunnally. Lelouch can use Geass on a million soldiers but he can't use it on hundreds of millions of regular people. Not to mention, with F.L.E.I.J.A at his disposal, our armies will mean little." His witch said. "With Geass, any long term revolution will be impossible. He will try to raise rebellion as a means to slow us down."

Lelouch nodded. "While he will deal the final strike."

"Or the Federation will," Bishop said. "Unlike Europe, they won't sit this one out. We need to prepare for a possible attack from them and the Black Knights. And unlike Europe, they will put up a tough fight. No offence, Lady Malcal."

"None is taken." Leila waved away. "I would prefer to avoid open conflict myself, especially since the UFN shares a border with Europe. Let's say the Black Knights will attack from Central Asia through Russia, we won't be able to protect the entire region. With your siblings' rousing revolution, it will be harder. But my other concern is logistics should war happen. The UFN is within reach of the Siberian Sakuradite fields. If they manage to destroy or capture it, we will lose large amounts of fuel for Knightmares and airships."

"There is also Japan itself." Cinder spoke. "It produces one-third of the Empire's Sakuradite. The Black Knights tried to liberate their country two times already. As the old saying goes, the third time's a charm, and it is obvious they will try to at least cripple our Sakuradite production there. With both Russian and Japanese Sakuradite fields in danger, we cannot let them make the first strike."

Their Emperor nodded. Wars were not won by bravery and sacrifices alone. To defeat one nation, their opponent should first destroy its means of fighting. The manpower, the Knightmare production, its logistics, resources. As long as Britannia had enough of everything, they will be able to continue fighting. So it was obvious that the Federation will aim to take out these targets first. The Britannian homeland was across the sea, its population and KMF factories were safe, but Sakuradite wasn't. With the increase of his army and air fleet, Lelouch required more Sakuradite than the former regime. Siberian Sakuradite fields in Russian and small mines across Europe were a good addition, but because of their close location to the Federation, they might become a liability.

'But the Federation has similar weaknesses.'

"The increased size of our military and its need for Sakuradite became our Achilles' heel, indeed, but the Black Knights have their own issues." Lelouch started. "After the short revolution and change of regime in the Chinese Federation, its population decreased dramatically. We outnumber the entire Federation in numbers alone, both in manpower and KMFs."

Marry looked worried. "Brother, you aren't suggesting we send our troops to death until the enemy runs out of its reserves?"

"Of course not. But the war of attrition will hit the Federation harder than it will weaken us. Do not forget that UFN isn't a single nation, it is an alliance of multiple nations that agreed to unite and fight together. As Zero, I created it as a countermeasure against Britannia, for when I should have destroyed the old Britannia, the new world system would be ready to take its place. The primary purpose of the Federation was to replace Britannia and lead the world into the future."

Peter chuckled. "So your former project wants to kill us all? Adorable. So what are we gonna do? Strike first before they will?"

"Precisely." Lelouch clapped. "The preemptive strike will be our strategy. We will be the first to strike down the Federation. We have an advantage in numbers and therefore can open several war fronts, forcing the Black Knights to spread their forces thin. We won't give them the chance to attack, always keeping them in the defence. The Federation is made up of nations with their own governments and interests. Sure, they all share the common goal but should we pressure and bring the war to their doorstep-"

"The house of cards will start falling apart." Leila finished, her eyes wide. "You want to repeat what happened to Union. But the Black Knights aren't European military. They are more experienced, especially when dealing with you. They will be waiting for something like this."

Lelouch smirked. "The Federation with the Order of Black Knights is the beast I helped to create. And that's why before making the first shot, we will cut off its head. Before starting this war, we will get rid of the Black Knight's high command, leaving their military without a leader."

Without either Tohdoh or Xingke, the Black Knights will be weakened. As far as they knew, they lost Zero and anyone capable to lead them. Ohgi cannot hope to command the entire army by himself, slowing down any potential attack. The chaos will be short-lived but it will be enough to give Lelouch and his Empire time to attack first. The White Emperor knew in such a scenario he would be able to conquer the western parts of the Federation with minimal resistance. There was a chance of Schneizel interfering and trying to take over the open position of leadership. But without Tohdoh or Xingke there won't be anyone to appease the soldiers who won't like the idea of working with people who slew millions of their countrymen.

"It will give us a window to strike first, but it won't last forever." Cinder narrowed her amber eyes. "We will need to act fast and inflict as much damage to the Federation war machine as possible."

Marry remembered something. "Before the agreement between Britannia and the Eunuchs, the Militarized Zone of India was a primary place to strike first. It was believed, should a war break out between two superpowers, this place will be the first target of our armies." She turned to her brother. "Your Majesty, from your time as Zero can you share with us how the infrastructure of Black Knights are working?"

Lelouch being the former leader of Black Knights made the future war less fair, but conflicts were rarely fought fair. 'This can count as cheating, but I'm willing to use anything if it means achieving my goals as fast as possible. Besides, the Order must have anticipated something like this.'

"You and the rest of the command staff of our armies will receive the full documentation with information on Black Knights after this meeting. Their bases, location of KMF factories and so on. The OSI already knows of it. With this I want everyone to prepare for the invasion. I already gave the order to start mobilising forces for two fronts. But I will hold on to the preparation for the third front."

"Three fronts? It is obvious that one will be on the Russian-Kazakh border while the second most likely naval invasion of India. "Bishop thought about it. One front in Central Asia was needed to secure their European territories while the second would deliver a heavy strike to Federation production of KMF in the Militarized Zone of India. "Where does Your Majesty desire to open the third front?"

"The only one place that I want to take care of for once and all, Japan." Lelouch couldn't help but chuckle at the irony. He tried to liberate that island nation two times before, only to rule it later.

"But Japan is already under our control," Arthur spoke for the first time since the conversation moved to strategy. "Why start a fight there?"

D.S answered. "Because the core of Black Knights is made of the Japanese who followed Zero. They want their nation back no matter what. The moment war will start they will attack and try to retake their home for the third time. Doesn't matter if with or without leadership, many will try to conquer Britannian Japan."

"Lelouch, don't you find it amusing? Unlike the two previous times when you tried to retake Japan, you must protect it now from your own creation." C.C said as she looked at him. "I take it you want to protect Sakuradite and Britannia's main holding in east Asia."

The White Emperor smiled. "I'm pleased you understood. Yes, while my armies will attack from Europe and the sea, I will protect the island from the army I created to liberate it. It is quite ridiculous how sides changed, now I'm the one who will try to fight off the Black Knights. But first, we will need to deal with the Order itself. My loyal followers, I have orders for you."

"Give us your command and we will obey." Bishop and Jeremiah said in unison.

"If you wish to see the traitors who dared to betray you dead, I will be more than happy to see it done, Master Lelouch," Sayoko said.

"I will keep it in mind, but I will personally deal with my former colleagues, Sayoko. It is time for me to return to the place where it all started." Lelouch said with a melancholic smile. The island nation to where he was banished to die, now it was his and Lelouch will make sure it remains that way.

"It is time for me to return to Japan."

It is time to return to the roots.

After Lelouch sent away his followers, he stayed alone in the room. They were given their orders and would carry them out. D.S. left after the knights, she had her own work as head of intelligence. C.C. took Leila for Geass related business. Jeremiah was ordered to prepare everything for the Emperor's trip to one specific country. Marrybell left to prepare for potential riots that would start sooner or later. The Knights of The Round had been the first to leave… all except one.

"You can come out, Cinder."

The she-devil slowly stepped out from behind one of the pillars, the familiar smirk on her face. As Lelouch called her, she made her way towards her Emperor. She stopped near the edge table and leaned against it.

"So, Your Majesty, any special order for me? You wanted me here for that reason or-"

"It is business-related, Cinder," Lelouch said calmly. Even before today's meeting, he ordered her to stay afterwards.

"Hmm, does it have something to do with your confession or it is about your siblings? I felt like there was something you wanted to speak about during the meeting." Cinder replied before her tone became serious. "Something worries you, Your Majesty?"

"It is about Nunnally and others but first I would like to know something...Why are you serving me, Cinder?"

She blinked in surprise. "What?"

"I told you about my past before others learned about it. You know about Geass, my past as Zero and decided to swear allegiance to me. But unlike with others, I always know what exactly you want. Bishop is loyal to me because of his honour and duty. Peter will follow Bishop no matter what. Arthur wanted revenge but now remains my knight because he wants to be a part of something bigger. You, on the other hand, always had the primary goals. Revenge against the nobility, status, and power." Lelouch said as he studied her face, looking for any reaction.

"Do you doubt my loyalty?" Cinder asked, she was a little hurt by his words. But Lelouch shook his head.

"No, you have proven yourself already. Quite opposite, I have little reason to doubt you. So far you didn't give me any reason to question you."

Cinder didn't look convinced. "Then why question me, Lelouch?"

"Because I want to be absolutely sure I can trust you no matter what. That you will obey my order no matter what I will ask."

The others weren't like Cinder, that included D.S and C.C. They all cared about him but it also meant that they would go behind his back if it meant protecting Lelouch. And the White Emperor couldn't leave it like that. The accident last night didn't leave his memory. Both of his lovers were sure they were going the right thing when they hid the truth from him. Lelouch wanted to learn if Cinder will do something akin to that.

Their relationship started as mutually beneficial contact. Lelouch was a young and talented knight while Cinder got power and revenge against the nobles. However, unlike the rest of the knights, her desires might be the easiest to exploit. He didn't want to believe but after his experience with Black Knights, it was preferable to avoid potential betrayal before it even happened. Not to mention, Schneizel is a cunning snake who knows his way with words. It won't be the first time Lelouch's older brother managed to convince his allies.

"I just don't want to be betrayed by people I trust, so it is better to clear any doubt right now, Cinder. You're a valuable knight and we have a relationship outside our duties. Sorry if I sound paranoid but you must understand I don't want to repeat the same mistakes."

She could understand where this concern was coming from. "The Black Knights. You never told me what happened and why you left them until today… To learn that they acted against you because of that."

Cinder looked down. She always wanted to know why Lelouch stopped being Zero. The Emperor didn't tell her everything. Asking the Red Lotus wasn't helpful either but Cinder expected that. Still, she could understand why the Order felt betrayed because of Geass and Lelouch's real identity. But trusting Schneizel and his promise of independent Japan? Really? How disappointing.

"Hmm. very well. I see your point but I will let you know. Questioning my loyalty to all people is a waste of your time. My goals align with your own, in fact, they depend on your success and victory. That's why I will make sure you will achieve everything you want."

"Oh really? And why is that?"

"Because you are everything I want and need in life. Sorry if it sounds cheesy." Cinder said and moved closer, leaning forward to her Emperor. Her face was a few inches away from his. And yet unlike the previous time two were close like this, both faces had a neutral expression. "You gave me a chance to avenge my mother and kill all those who played a role in her execution, only the former Zevon is left. You made me into a Knight of The Round, the most powerful position next to only yours. I got status, power, and authority thanks to you. It is within my best interest to make sure you will continue to rule no matter what. Schneizel might try to approach me with a proposition to betray you but I don't trust him to not backstab me afterwards. For others, I will be a liability and only under you, I can show my full potential… Tell me, My Emperor, what can I do those other knights won't?"

Lelouch carefully thought about it. Cinder was many things. But among them all, she was deadly. She cared little about the lives of others and that had its uses.

"You don't care about the morals or lives of anyone else but yours," Lelouch said. Her old plan about using explosives in the Knightmares of their European soldiers was the first thing that had come to mind. Neither of Lelouch's followers will think about something like this. Lelouch himself would never have thought of this until Cinder suggested it. "And that's useful. I want to rule justly and make sure no one will suffer. But even I know I will need people who don't care about getting their hands dirty."

Cinder was ready to kill her allies just because of the possibility of them rebelling. She didn't hesitate to make an example of others. Jeremiah and Sayoko were assassins, they would strike down his enemies, but they were doing it because it benefited their master, him. Cinder could burn cities without care because it meant protecting his ideas and wishes. Lelouch didn't need to order her anything, she would be willing to act on her own if it meant getting rid of his enemies. Her fight with Kallen was proof of that and her word before that. His White Queen was out of line back then, but it didn't change the fact that she was ready to fight the infamous Guren simply because it might have weakened his resolve. Even today he saw how she looked at the other knights when they heard about his past. She was dangerous and a little bit unstable but Lelouch needed people like this as well. If he had anyone like this during his time as Zero, maybe the Black Knights wouldn't have gotten away with their betrayal.

"Correction. I don't care about anyone else but you and me." Cinder smirked. "Your survival is directly related to my goals to stay in power. Should My Emperor die, I will lose everything I was given, my position, power. So, you are the reason I'm here and I want to keep it that way forever."

"Oh, my," Her lover and master let out a short laugh. "Aren't you a greedy woman?"

"I know what I want and how to achieve it, mother made sure I understand it. Now I must keep my happiness for as long as possible." Her face leaned closer. "You can think of me as a blunt tool to achieve your goals, I'm fine with it because my goals will be accomplished as well." Her smile revealed a feral grin. Her voice was cold and yet he could sense the feelings behind it. "Lelouch, I think calling you my world will fit in such a situation. Won't you agree, My Emperor?"

Cinder was a broken person, but then again, so was he. He knew that Cinder was his and won't hesitate to do as he told her. But in order to avoid repeating his failure with the Black Knights, he needed confirmation and now he had it. Lelouch asked his second question.

"Do you remember the first time we met?"

Cinder nodded with a pleasant smile. "How can a girl forget something like that? It happened only four months ago but feels like five years, and that makes me feel old."

"I used my Geass on you to learn your goals. As you and others now know, I can use my Geass only once on a person." She nodded again, this little aspect reassured many of them. Not that anyone doubted His Majesty! "And then Jeremiah used his Geass Canceler on you, nullifying the effect… Do you know that I can use my power again after this?"

This time Cinder froze, now understanding where Her Emperor was going with this. Her mind quickly jumped to several theories about what exactly Lelouch wanted, but only one was most likely. Slowly, the White Queen shook her head.

"My dear White Queen, what do you think about getting an advantage against others? The kind of advantage only one person has." As far as Lelouch knew, Jeremiah failed to erase Suzaku's Geass command to live. Since he didn't have enough information, the White Emperor must assume the worst. The former First Knight of The Round had Geass as well, and with his old friend there, Lelouch needed something to combat them. She was the perfect candidate for that role. "Cinder, I want to offer you a gift that I have not offered to anyone else. Will you accept it, my knight?"

Never before did Lelouch offer anyone to use Geass on them. It was always just a tool to get what he wanted or required to survive. Suzaku got his command to live only because Zero didn't want either of them to die on that day. Lelouch uses Geass on Kallen only to learn about her resistant group and nothing else. But with Cinder, it will be different. It was the first and probably the only time he asked anyone if they wanted to be Geassed, which was an unusual experience for him and Cinder most likely too.

Cinder for her apart was taken back by such an offer. This was big, as he said, she will be the first who will receive such honour. If what she heard about the White Reaper is true, then the Geass Order played some kind of role in his rise to fame. Cinder wouldn't hesitate to use any advantage she could get and this meant unnatural means as well. Then again, since the previous emperor had Geass too, maybe at this point it is a natural thing as well?

The Second Knight of The Round kneeled before her lord and master. "My life belongs to you, My Emperor. Do as you see fit," Her amber eyes stared at his violet ones. "I, Cinder Fall, am at your service."

"In that case..."

Lelouch raised his hand and with one movement took off his lenses. Gone the pure royal violet colour of his eyes, replaced by two red symbols that brought dread to those who knew the power behind them. But Cinder wasn't afraid, on the contrary, she was excited. She was about honour and power that others couldn't think of. She was curious how a certain redhead would react to this development. Oh, she couldn't wait!

"Lelouch vi Britannia commands you-!"

I will be honest, I had issues writing this chapter because I didn't know what to keep and what to cut. Cinder's last part was the main question for me. I'm gonna keep it real with you, folks. There was a time when I wanted to go back and rewrite all scenes with Cinder and completely change her. Why? Because RWBY sucks right now.

It is obvious that Cinder in this story was written after Cinder from RWBY (I started watching it when Volume 3 just came out). I always knew that she was basically Azula on a budget but I was fine with it. But as the show went, I became more and more disappointed with it. Volume 4 was weak and Blake parts were terrible. Volume 5 was terrible and Blake parts were atrocious. Volume 6 was good except for the last few episodes, and Adam parts were bad. Volume 7 was fine and made me enjoy the show again, except Blake, Yang or Robyn (easily the worst character right after Blake). Volume 8 started okay but went downhill, but Cinder parts actually made me like her again (despite all plot holes.) I think my point is, even if I added Cinder here because I enjoyed her RWBY version back in Volume 3 I shouldn't let my dislike for RWBY affect Cinder in this fanfic. Sorry for the little rant but this was on my mind for years (I'm not joking)

Anyway, hoped you enjoyed the chapter! See you next time! :D
