She could barely remember the day she met Filthy Rich, her being so young, Zephyr just a tot.
They were at a business party and it was fancy. She was old enough to know that her parents saved up enough where they would "fit in", since her dad had gotten a "promotion", her mom called it, though Fluttershy didn't yet understand a lot of it.
She met him once, early in the evening. She was polite, saying what she had to and that was all. A normal introduction.
Then again, alone. She had been told to stay put near their table as her mom tended to Zephyr, the boy having fallen. Their dad was off with coworkers, making small talk and the like. She again was polite, kind in asking him some hobbies since the man didn't seem to have much else to do, she guessed.
There was an unease in her belly, but she just thought it was from missing lunch. He liked talking to her, she wasn't sure why. He kept saying she was cute. Like a little princess or doll. He left when her family returned.
A bit later into the night, their mom was getting them some juice, since they weren't the only children there and they were thirsty and bored.
Fluttershy, though an obedient girl, was also a curious thing. Outside, through some open doors, she swore she saw a rare bird.
Getting excited, she wandered out, not saying anything. She hiked her dress up, not liking how poofy and Princess-y it was. She liked dresses but not the kind she was in. She couldn't chase animals and climb trees in a dress like that.
She was able to admire it for a bit before a noise, someone falling, made it fly away.
Her heart beat erratic and she began shaking.
Maybe it was just a animal. Oh, it might've needed help!
She tried finding where she thought it landed.
She quietly approached the rustling from the rose bushes. She heard a voice cursing, so she covered her ears, waiting for the person to stop. They sounded young.
A head suddenly popped out, a hood over their head, a mask over their nose and mouth, their hoodie and clothes were black and torn, well worn and old from use.
His hair, what she could see, was black. He had leaves, twigs and even some roses stuck to him.
She couldn't help the giggle that escaped her mouth, only to stop short when strange, beautiful eyes locked on her's.
"Who the fuck are you laughing at, girly?" He asked angrily.
She began blabbering, embarrassed. "I-I-uhm-nothing! Y-you just had leaves and roses in your hair and it just escaped. Uhm...need help?" She held out a hand.
He grumbled, trying on his own, but ultimately letting her. His hand was large in her's and when he stood, he was lanky and tall, the clothes both fitting and not at the same time.
She couldn't tell his age. She couldn't help but keep staring, especially at his eyes.
After he got rid of all the twigs, he noticed her staring and scowled (or at least it looked that way). There was a lot of emotion and expression in just his eyes.
"What the fuck are you staring at, kid?" He snapped.
She blushed, embarrassed at being caught. "Your eyes are beautiful. I couldn't help but notice."
What if his skin she could see, broke out into a deep pink. "Not pretty! No one's ever...anyway! Go run along. I have things to mess up." He shooed her, but she pointed to his head.
"There's, um, a rose." She stuttered.
He hummed, grabbing it and throwing it away, like it disgusted him.
She smiled. "Well...what are you up to? You're not really dressed for the party. Which is okay!"
His brows furrowed. "Are ya gonna snitch?"
She shook her head rapidly, her done up hair almost coming out. "No! I-I mean, I'm not a snitch!"
His eyes crinkled. "Alright. I still won't tell ya but I'll let you live."
She chuckled nervously, unsure if he was serious or not. She waved and went back in.
A few hours later, she glanced outside, seeing how blue the moon was. It was lovely. Venturing outside again, she gazed at it longingly.
From the corner of her eye, she saw, on the corner of the stone fence, sat the boy from earlier. He was smoking. That wasn't good. "You shouldn't be smoking!" She yelled, though her yell was still quiet, he heard her and toppled over.
She winced but giggled after, seeing him get up. She went over. "I'm sorry for startling you. But you shouldn't smoke."
He dusted his pants off, crushing the cigarette. "Weren't you supposed to leave me be?"
She turned her foot back and forth. "I just...wanted to see you again. Sorry." She really did feel bad.
He rubbed the back of his neck, looking away. "It's fine. Don't look like that." He groaned.
There was silence until Fluttershy heard one of her favorite songs begin playing. But it was a slow one and everyone was busy and she hated the crowds in there.
She looked to the boy. "Can-can you dance with me?" She felt herself blush hard, surprised at her forwardness when she didn't even know his name and he was so much taller.
"That's so-" he scoffed until he saw her pleading look, already downcast. He groaned. "Fine, but no judging. I can't dance."
She smiled bright up at him. "Okay!"
He took both her hands in his and they began their weird, not-really-dancing dancing. His feet were really too big and they both were clumsy, her stepping on his feet. She kept apologizing and at one point began to tear up at ruining the dance, until he wiped away her tears and reassured her.
His eye caught something and she noticed it was the moon. "It's beautiful, isn't it? It'll shine, even in the darkest night. Well, usually."
She went and sat on a step, him following and sitting next to her. She couldn't explain how natural it was. "To think, we all see the same one."
"Blue moons are rare." He said off hand, providing information to take up the silence.
"Must be fate then." She smiled.
He snorted. "No such thing. Like wishing on a star or flower. It's silly."
She smiled sweetly at him. "I don't think so. I met you, right?"
He gave her a conflicted look. "Coincidence. And it might not be a good thing."
She reached and took his hand, making him startle. "It's okay. Then I'll just believe for the both of us. Also, if you were out to hurt me, I've given you plenty of chances."
He stayed quiet for a bit. Then he picked a dandelion puff. Only, when he did, was when Fluttershy noticed the blood.
Her eyes widened. "You're hurt!"
He hummed, looking. "No, it's not mine."
She stuttered. "Who's is it?" She began looking for her handkerchief.
She knew she should be scared, though she was alarmed.
"Had a job. Didn't want anyone knowing anyway, then you came up again." He tried wiping his hand anyway, using the clean hand to hold the flower.
She looked for water to help, but found none. "I'm sorry, I don't have water or else I'd help."
He looked at her alarmed, until he laughed, putting the dandelion puff in her hair. "Thanks for the offer, but I should go. Remember, no snitching." He put a finger to his mask, assuming that's where his mouth was.
She nodded, crossing her heart. "Oh, before you go, I want to give you something to thank you. F-for the flower and dancing with me." She blushed hard.
He rose a bushy brow but nodded as they both stood. She covered her mouth with her fingers, a bit embarrassed. She got close, ushering him to bend down.
She gulped, unsure why she was nervous. Her mom and dad did this after their slow dances back home. Once close enough, she jumped to her tippy toes and gave him a kiss on the mouth through the mask.
He jumped back fast, spluttering and obviously embarrassed. "W-w-what was that?!"
She blushed bashfully. "My mom and dad would-" she was cut off my a bullet flying by the boy's head, him turning fast to see.
Security was coming, yelling at him. Cursing, he looked around, they were surrounded.
"Come on, girl, get away from him." One yelled, causing her to squeak.
She didn't want to. She was vaguely aware she should be headed away from him. She saw the blood and he admitted he was there for a job.
But how he acted around her...
She couldn't explain her next move. She put her arms out and went in front of him, knowing it was useless since she maybe went to his stomach.
Suddenly, a big arm was around her waist, the other tight on the back of her neck. His scent was warm. She felt him tremble despite his next words.
"Any closer and I'll kill her! Her neck is small enough, one snap and she's dead or paralyzed!" He snarled at the security guards.
She was so confused. How could someone who danced with her and got so embarrassed at a kiss, be a killer? He was still young too. Even when she saw the blood, she didn't fear, because his grasp was gentle.
Even as he gripped her neck, she didn't fear him.
He backed them up, down the stairs and even to the other side, where he could run down the road and through the woods.
"I'm sorry. I can't die yet."
He whispered to her, his voice full of emotion.
And like that, his grip was gone, along with the warmth, and him.
Looking at the moon, it looked much more lonely. She took out the puff and decided to make a wish, as she heard the guards coming.
"I wish, for the boy I met tonight, with the pretty red and yellow eyes, to live."
She blew on the puff, the seeds flying into the night sky. There was a feeling she couldn't name yet, being so small, that gripped her heart in a clawed grasp.
Even Angel rarely got her to leave bed for awhile. She'd get up to feed him and let him out, but other than that, there wasn't much. She should've been fine. Zephyr was alive! But for some reason...didn't want to be with her.
Logically, she got it. If Zephyr wanted her to leave her housemates, even without the Vampirism, she probably wouldn't. He also admitted an addiction. One not unlike her own. She didn't want to admit how attached she'd become. Zephyr was still her brother. But where would he stay? He couldn't do normal school. He'd been through too much and addiction would mess with his brain if he went without some help, though she wasn't sure what he was addicted to.
She heard a knock and lifted her head. Discord had opened the door for someone, taking a quick, worried glance at her before closing it. She sat up quickly, seeing it was Tree Hugger.
"Tree Hugger! W-what are you doing here? Sorry, I must look like a mess." She tried rubbing at her eyes and fixing herself as much as she could, but Tree Hugger just shrugged, setting a large duffel bag down.
"The tall guy with the cool vibe called me. Said you needed a friend. He even paid for my train here." She spoke, moving her hands lazily.
Fluttershy's eyes widened. Discord...he did that...for her?
She couldn't help her brows furrowing, the lip wobbling or the choked feeling.
"O-oh? U-uh, w-well what do you want to do then? A lot had happened."
Tree Hugger got up from the chair and began looking for something in Fluttershy's closet. "I was thinking, since it's a bit cooler, we can go camping for the weekend or something? We haven't done that in...like a long time, right? Sometimes, the best places to speak of hard things, is in simple, uncomplicated areas, like nature."
Fluttershy got up from bed and Tree Hugger smirked. "Sweet tat. When did you get that?"
Fluttershy looked around herself, only seeing the mark that appeared when Discord bit her. She blushed. "Uh...a week or 2 ago? It's...part of the long story. To be honest, I'm afraid you'll hate me after I explain."
Tree Hugger just looked at her for awhile. Looking for something Fluttershy wasn't sure what. "I guess you'll just have to take a leap of faith. Cause I don't want to lie. I know I'd never hate you, but I get what you're saying. That tall guy said you had a falling out with your school girls, but he wouldn't say more, and that was cause I wouldn't agree unless I got some answers."
All Fluttershy could think was she owed Discord big time. She nodded. "Again. It's a long story."
Tree Hugger hummed. "Then let's get you packed. I looked up the perfect spot."
Fluttershy smiled small. "Okay."
Tree Hugger helped and she was already trying to think rationally about everything.
She could've handled the thing with Chrysalis better. Well...a lot she could've dealt with better.
As they were about to head to the bus, she wanted to let Discord know they were leaving and she'd hopefully see them by the beginning of the week or so.
There was a lot she needed to settle on with a clear mind before going forward, setting all her cards down.
She also had figured, he probably knew this matter wasn't one he could help her with. One he'd probably agitate more so than help her heal.
She smelled his blood from the kitchen and told Tree Hugger to wait by the door. She took it easy enough, taking her phone out.
He seemed out of it, when she saw him at the counter, staring as his blood dripped into a cup.
"Discord?" She approached slowly.
That made him startle but he did turn to her and hand her the cup. "Hello, my Dear. Eat. I saw you both were heading out with bags so I thought you could use something to tide you over. When will you be back?"
She noticed he was avoiding her gaze. She set it down and reached for his face, only to have him grip her wrist tightly, his grip actually hurting. "Discord. What's wrong?" She forced herself not to wince.
"I'm fine, Fluttershy. Just eat and be safe." He didn't even use his other hand to touch her.
Her heart ached. "You're lying." She stated, moving her body to look, only for his other hand to smack against her eyes.
Sighing, she used the hand not in his grip to gently lay her hand on his. "Please, Discord."
"No, my Dear. Eat and go. I'm fine." His voice was strained.
She frowned. "Not until you tell me what happened."
She heard him let out a long, deep sigh, it almost morphed into a growl, he only let go of her wrist for a moment, leaving the other over her eyes.
She heard something move, might've been the cup.
Only, when she went to open her mouth to ask, his scent was much too close, too fast, he gripped her wrist again, pulling it up so her head would lean back.
A sudden wave of pleasure hit her like a summer fever, when his mouth was on her's, her mouth agape already, she smelled the strong scent of home, of something sweet but something new too, as he forced what blood was in his mouth, down her throat.
Her fingers twitched, the hand not being held, gripping tightly into Discord's shirt. Her mind felt dizzy and air felt humid with his scent and blood.
She had no choice but to pant when he pulled away, her heart beginning to beat wildly.
"Two more mouthfuls, my Dear. I was able to get you a lot." Discord's voice sounded off, strained and gravelly. She felt his hand shake around her wrist.
"D-Dis-Discord. I-I can feed myself." She whimpered. She couldn't let him do that again. She wasn't sure what she would do, especially if the reaction was strong the first time. Her knees already began to feel weak from just the thought of his lips on her's again, drenched in blood.
She shivered.
He was silent for a bit, before he let go of her wrist and placed the cup in her hand.
The hand over her eyes moved as well, so she could have better access to the cup.
She saw his eyes were squeezed shut and the air changed as he gripped the counter edge.
'I wonder if he took his medication?' She thought, though a shudder wracked her body at the blood smeared across his mouth and dripping down his scruff and his chin, some even spotting his long neck.
She gulped, downing what blood was in the cup and sadly not liking it as much as when she'd get it from the source.
"Discord?" She asked slowly, sweetly.
He hummed, though it turned into more of a growl. "You done, my Dear?" His voice strained and she saw him shake with the force to stay still.
"Yes." Was all she could get out of her mouth.
She reached to his neck and his face, wanting to see his eyes, but froze with a chill of adrenaline, when one of his hands latched around her throat.
She couldn't even gulp.
There was a pause, only breathing was heard. Fluttershy was happy the front door was a bit aways from the kitchen.
With a strangled gasp, Discord tried letting go, his eyes now open and she saw. They were dilated. So much worse than at the beach. All she could practically see was the vibrant red, hardly any yellow to be seen.
Her head began to throb with the force he held her neck, her pulse slowing, lungs tight, vision blurring. But...she couldn't find it in herself to attack him.
Her hands shakily and loosely clung to his wrist.
He was able to yank his hand from her neck with a loud pant, her gulping in air like blood as her knees gave out.
He didn't give her much time to recover before he lifted her back to standing and tried pushing her out of the kitchen. "Go. NOW." He said lowly, his voice filled to the brim with regret.
"What hap-" she began, voice weak from the strain. She turned her head, truly not blaming him for possibly strangling her, only to be met with glowing, angry eyes.
"Fluttershy Breeze. Go. Now. So I know your voice is the real you, GO NOW!" He snarled, the tile under his feet cracking with magic. Through his open mouth, water bubbles filled with smoke came out.
She didn't want to leave him now. Did he usually get this bad?
She resisted the urge to taunt him. To see if he'd do it again, or if his care for her was stronger.
"What exactly is going on in your mind?"
He slammed his fist against the counter, she saw it crack and bubble under. "Please..." his voice cracked, "please go, my Dear. Your voice is the only thing giving me confidence that I haven't-haven't killed you yet. Even then...no. Go. Have fun. Figure out your next plan and I should be fine by the time you get back."
She was quiet. "Hold still." She slowly walked over to him, she saw his body tense. He released a growl. A warning.
She didn't have to do much. Getting closer, enough where he could break a bone, she reached her hand out under his chin, lifting it from where he'd crouched, trying to keep himself small as to not lash out.
He was about to do just that, until she bent down and gave him a slow, light kiss. "This is proof I'm alive. Once you hear the door shut, whatever you see behind your eyes, isn't there. It might be the weekend or we might take a week. Not sure." She gave him one last kiss before pulling away, seeing his breath calming, which didn't look like a good sign when she saw his eyes were still dilated.
She ran out, forgetting about the blood still over her mouth, grabbed Tree Hugger by the arm, and made them both run out the door, making sure to slam it loudly on the way out.
She could only hope he gets away before their housemates return.
"Uh...you lose a tooth or something?" Tree Hugger asked, pointing to her mouth.
Fluttershy blushed and tried getting rid of the blood. Once she did, she awkwardly looked to her friend. "It's...its part of that long story too. Come on."
Tree Hugger trusted her, and they were on their way, the mansion becoming a speck in the distance. She was still worried sick, wanting to run back, but she forced herself to keep walking forward.
That wouldn't be trusting Discord or his wishes for her to be safe.
She gripped Tree Hugger's hand tightly, the other trying to find some clue, but ultimately allowing Fluttershy to gather her thoughts.
She only hoped Discord would be himself when she got home. She could only hope...maybe she'd return to be whoever "Fluttershy " was as well.
