A/N Thank you again for your reviews. I hope I have conveyed how much I enjoy reading them, how much I take them to heart. You have many ideas that are better than the story. As I have said many times, I am sure they affect me more than I know. I still am just borrowing these characters.
Everyone had gathered at Leonard and Penny's apartment to watch a showing of Penny's commercial. Even Sheldon seemed interested although it was taking place in a program he would normally never watch. Everyone had to endure his running tear down of the show before they were reached the commercial.
Penny's family were also watching back in Omaha.
At last the moment arrived. When it was over, everyone congratulated her with Howard making everyone laugh when he said he had an overwhelming urge to go out and buy a car.
After everyone left, Penny and Leonard talked to her family on the phone receiving their congratulations.
After hanging up, Leonard turned to Penny, "So, now that you're a big star, I suppose things will have to change."
Penny smiled, "Of course, I can no longer be expected to waste my time in mundane household tasks. Also, you will have to share me with my adoring fans."
She smirked, "And you will have to be available for sex whenever I deign to give you the honor."
Leonard smiled back, "It appears I am available right now."
He then went on, "I really am proud of you, Penny. You were amazing. I have a feeling this is just the beginning."
Penny blushed, "If it is, it is because of you. You have always been there for me. Also let's not forget, you just had quite an accomplishment too. I am just as proud of you."
Then she smirked, "You did say you were available?"
He moved forward and took her in his arms and kissed her softly on the lips, "Always."
He then stunned her by lifting her and carrying her to the bedroom. He struggled a little at the end but managed to put her on the bed.
Afterwards, they lay side by side, their hands touching, "Leonard."
"Yeah."
"Have you thought about us setting a date to get married?"
"Do you want to set one?"
"I just think we should start thinking about it. We have a few decisions to make. Where to hold it? Who to invite? Who will stand up with us?"
"You're right, we need to start working on it."
She turned to face him, "Would you mind if we kept it small? I would like it to just be our close friends and relatives."
He smiled, "I would like that too."
She laid back, "Who was your best man at your first wedding?"
"Sheldon." He paused, "Would you mind if I asked him again?"
"No, No. I can't imagine anyone else doing it."
"How about you, who was your maid of honor?"
"My sister, Lisa. She would definitely be my choice again."
She went on, "But the bridesmaids were Millie and one of our mutual friends. I would definitely want Bernadette and Amy to be part of it this time."
Leonard sighed, "I really didn't have many other friends, so mine were two of Priya's brothers." He paused, "This time, I guess it would be Howard and Raj, if he would want to."
Penny smiled, "We are really going to do this, aren't we?"
Leonard smiled broadly, "Yes, we are."
Penny teared up a little, "And live happily ever after."
He wiped the tears, "Happily ever after."
She snuggled next to him, "Good."
Wayne and Barb were exhausted after driving straight through. They stopped at a motel since the apartment was not yet furnished.
Reaching their room, they collapsed on the bed. As they lay there, Barb spoke up, "Oh, it is time for one of my favorite shows, turn to channel 76."
Wayne obliged. It really wasn't one of his favorites, but he was too tired to really watch anyway. He did have to smile at how much she was into it. He had almost dozed off when Barb exclaimed, "My God, it's Penny!"
He sat up, a little dazed, "Who?"
She nudged him, "On the screen, doing that commercial, it's Penny Waters!"
He looked at the screen and recognized her from her picture.
Now wide awake, "I didn't know she was an actress."
"She did go to California a few years ago, but I thought she gave it up."
They watched until the commercial was over. Barb sat back, "I wonder if this means she is in California."
"I suppose that's a possibility, but it could have been shot anywhere."
"You're right." She thought for a moment, "But I remember now when her Dad shot Roy, they said his daughter wasn't even at the farm. That she had gone somewhere to be safe. She probably made some friends while she lived here, maybe she got back with them."
"Even if you're right, we have no way of finding out where she actually is." He paused, "Besides, she did just want to talk on the phone and I have already done that."
"I know, but we can still try to find her. Who knows, if we can contact her, maybe she would be interested to know what has happened to you since then." She thought for a moment, "I have an idea. Tomorrow, we'll go over to Steve and Mona's. They're really smart, maybe they can help us find out something about her."
Amy had waited a few days, but it didn't appear Sheldon was going to say anything about their having a baby. She decided she would have to bring it up.
"Sheldon."
"Yes."
"Do you remember what we talked about doing after Asymmetry was a proven theory?"
"Of course, I have an Eidetic memory, I remember everything." Suddenly his eyes widened, "I suppose you are referring to our discussion about a child?"
"Yes." She hesitated, "Do you still want to?"
He looked at her, "You do want this, don't you?"
"Yes, but only if you do too." She hesitated, "I will be happy either way."
Sheldon believed her but also could sense this was very important to her. He suddenly realized it was important to him as well.
"I do not think we should deprive the world of what will no doubt be an extraordinary individual. I think we should proceed."
Amy smiled happily, "Oh, thank you, Sheldon. We will be wonderful parents."
She walked over and embraced him, "I love you."
He smiled, thinking how this Vixen had entranced him, knowing he was so happy she had, "I love you, too."
Wayne and Barb parked the truck at the apartment and took her car over to Steve and Mona's.
They were greeted by hugs from Mona. Steve, after hugging his sister, shook Wayne's hand.
As they went in the house, Mona spoke up, "It is so good to see you again. How was the trip?"
Barb answered, "Exhausting. We drove straight through."
Mona smiled, "We did arrange for some guys from the college to help you move in. They are ready whenever you need them."
Wayne smiled, "Thank you. Why don't we plan on tomorrow morning?"
"I'll set it up, say 9:00?"
"That will be fine."
Barb was looking around, noticing how much neater the living room was, "I still can't believe that other guy beat you. He must have cheated somehow."
Mona smiled ruefully, "I am afraid he beat us quite fair and square. The important thing is that the Theory has been proven. In fact, we have been invited to join in a gathering to get the ball rolling on a bid for a Nobel prize. Dr. Hofstadter and his fiancé will be there as well as Dr. Cooper and Dr. Farrah-Fowler."
She went on, "As well as a few Caltech Nobel winners."
Wayne, a little awed, "Sounds impressive."
"Yes, we are looking forward to it."
Barb then remembered about Penny, "When we got to the motel last night we turned on the TV and were surprised to see Roy Butler's wife doing a commercial."
Steve broke in, "Let me see if I remember, it was her father who killed him wasn't it?"
Barb answered, "Yes. Apparently she wasn't even there." She paused, "Now, we wonder if she maybe came to California. I know she had been here a few years ago trying to be an actress."
She went on, "We were wondering, is there any way we could learn more about her? Where she actually is."
Mona looked at Steve, "We could check the internet. It is possible she is on Facebook or there is some information on her."
With neither Barb nor Wayne having spent much time on a computer, they watched as Mona called up Facebook. After a moment she turned, "She doesn't appear to have one. Let's see what a search of her name brings up. What was her full name?"
Barb answered, "Penny Waters." She hesitated, "But I suppose you could check Penny Butler too."
After entering both names, Mona turned to them, "Nothing seems to show up."
Barb sighed, "Well, thanks for trying, I figured it was a long shot."
Then she smiled, "I have heard of Facebook, but that was the first time I have seen it, could you tell me more about it?"
Mona smiled, "Facebook? It's just a site you post information about yourself."
She smirked, "Most of it is pretty boring, pictures of their pets, gardens. It does talk about their current relationships. Would you like to see ours?"
Both Wayne and Barb nodded. Mona brought it up. It showed pictures of her and Steve, listed some of their accomplishments. Barb was stunned to see a picture of her with Steve and her folks.
She turned to Wayne, "Hey, look at that, I am on the internet."
Barb said, "This is fun. Let's try someone else."
Mona smiled, "Well, we were talking about Dr. Cooper and the others. We could check them out."
They first did Sheldon and Amy. There was a picture of them and Leonard with some stuff about Asymmetry.
Mona then called up Leonard. Wayne and Barb were growing a little bored when they both stared in amazement. For right there on the screen was his fiancée smiling into the camera with her arm around him.
They both exclaimed together, "That's her, that's Penny!"
Debbie Wolowitz was on her usual morning walk. As she passed by the home of the Bernstein's, she was surprised to hear someone calling her name. She turned to see a man about her age coming from the house.
He came up to her, "Good morning."
Wondering what he wanted, she answered, "Good morning." Hesitated, "Do I know you?"
He smiled, "No. My name is Sam Steinberg. I am Edith's brother. I recently came to live with them."
"Is there something I can do for you?"
"No. I just have been watching you go by every day. Edith told me that instead of watching, I should get out and get some exercise myself. To get her off my back, I decided I would do what she says. Then I thought, I could at least have some company. So I was wondering if I could walk with you."
Debbie thought about what he was saying. She had found it a little creepy that he had been watching her, but he did seem like a nice guy and she knew Edith and David. She smirked a little to herself, it was also true he was an attractive man. It was also true his first name was the same as her ex-husband's.
Finally she shrugged to herself and was surprised to feel a little moment of excitement, "If you wish."
He smiled, "Great."
They set off together as Edith watched from the window, smiling and shaking her head.
After they had walked in silence for some time, Debbie said, "This is where I head back. I cross over to Summit Avenue." Paused, "It will be out of your way."
"If you don't mind, I'll walk with you." He hesitated, "I don't mind saying, I enjoy walking with you."
Debbie again felt a little warm. "That's fine." She hesitated, "I am enjoying your company as well."
He smiled, "There is a coffee shop over there. Why don't we talk for a while before we head back?"
Debbie smiled back, "I would like that."
After they were seated and fortified with a cup of coffee, Sam went on, "Edith told me you recently had some heart problems. I was deeply sorry to hear that. I am glad you seem to be feeling better."
"Thank you. Although it was scary, it did serve as a warning. It is the reason I started walking."
"Edith also said your son is an engineer?"
"Yes. He worked at UCLA for NASA until just recently. He is now employed at Caltech."
"You must be proud of him."
"I am. You will have to excuse a proud mother but he has also been to the Space Station."
His eyes widened, "I am impressed. I have never met anyone related to an astronaut before."
She smiled, "How about you, Sam, do you have a family?"
"Yes, I have a son and daughter. My daughter lives in Ohio. She is a stay-at-home mom, who has given me two beautiful grandchildren."
"My son is a Pediatrician. He lives in San Francisco. He seems to be a confirmed bachelor."
Debbie smiled to herself, a Jewish Doctor. Too bad I don't have a daughter. She laughed to herself, maybe Howard…
She went on, "My son is living with someone, so I have hopes for grandchildren one day."
She hesitated, "I do not wish to intrude and you don't have to answer, but may I ask what happened to your wife?"
"No, that's fine. She died about a year ago. She had suffered from Cancer for some time."
"Oh, I am so sorry."
Sam knew what had happened to Debbie's husband, Edith had told him, but he decided not to say anything.
Debbie was quiet for some time, "My husband ran off when Howard was only eleven."
"I am sorry. But I must say, he was an idiot to leave a woman like you."
Debbie was stunned to feel herself blushing. She quickly said, "It was very hard on Howard. He would spend time looking out the window, waiting for him to come back." She hesitated, "His name was Sam too."
As they finished their coffee, Sam spoke up, "If you don't mind, I would like to continue to walk with you."
Debbie smiled, "I don't mind. I like being with you."
He smiled, "Here, let me get this." As he paid and they left he said, "Do you like to go to the movies?"
Debbie was surprised but managed to say, "I haven't been to a movie for as long as I can remember."
"Would you like to go with me? We could have some supper first."
Debbie was a little stunned. Things were happening very quickly. But she realized how much she would like that. "I would like that."
Sam smiled, "Great. Why don't we exchange numbers and I will give you a call."
Debbie suddenly felt like she was young again. They exchanged numbers and headed back. When they reached Debbie's house, she fought the urge to ask him to come in. Finally she said, "See you tomorrow?"
"I look forward to it."
He hesitated, "I had a very enjoyable time."
"Me, too." Then, completely surprising herself, she leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek before saying goodbye and heading inside.
Sam called out goodbye and touching his cheek, smilingly headed for his sister's.
Howard and Bernadette were eating when suddenly Howard sat back with a vacant look on his face.
Bernadette quickly said, "Are you alright?"
Howard, recovering, "I'm fine. I just had this strange feeling that there was a disturbance in the Force."
He smiled, "Whatever it was, it's gone now."
It was getting dark by the time Sanjay finally awoke. At first, he was confused as to where he was and how he got there, but then everything came rushing back. He started to get up but fell back from the pain in his head.
Rising more gingerly, he made his way to his bedroom door and saw Priya sitting on his couch. He saw how she had cleaned up his living room. At that moment, nature called and he slowly made his way to the bathroom.
Priya heard some movement and saw him heading for the bathroom. She smiled sadly to herself and waited for him to come out.
After he had relieved himself, he took a couple painkillers and went out to the living room.
Priya looked up, "How are you feeling?"
"Like someone played drums inside my head."
He went on, "What time is it?"
"It's almost nine. Did you take some painkillers?"
"Yes." He made his way to a chair and sat down.
"I made some coffee. Looks like you could use some."
"I could. Thanks."
She nodded and went and poured him a mug and handed it to him.
He took a big sip and sighed. "Thank you for cleaning up. You didn't have to do that."
She smirked, "Yes, I did. I was about ready to gag."
"You could have just left."
"I wanted to be sure you were all right. Your clothes are in the dryer."
He nodded, "I will be okay now. You can head out."
"Aren't you wondering why I am here in the first place?"
He ignored that as he noticed the papers in front of her, "I assume you saw what I wrote."
"Yes, you were quite thorough. You do know you could have just called them or seen them in person."
"I wanted to get my thoughts down. I hadn't decided how I was going to let them know."
He paused, "I am sorry I was going to do that but I was drunk and you really hurt me."
Priya looked down, "I know. I am sorry for that." She looked up, "I have come to be sorry for a lot of what I have done. Not only to you but to Leonard. I am just glad he has apparently found someone in Penny. I am sure she is much better for him."
"As to why I came back, I realized something. I know this will be hard for you to believe and I wouldn't expect you to, based on how I have acted."
She got up and sat on the edge of his chair and took his hands. "I love you, Sanjay."
He was stunned. Instinctively, he removed his hands and stood up. "Now what are you trying?"
She sighed and looked up at him, "I don't blame you for not believing me, I am kind of stunned myself. But it is the truth."
She stood up and looked him in the eye, "I think I have loved you for a long time." She sighed, "But I didn't want to. It might have interfered with my career and my ambition."
"I do need to tell you that I did love Leonard. But I never really committed to him. I think I always knew I was not what he needed. As far as for me, I thought it was because I love India, that I missed the respect of my family. Those things are true. But I now believe it was also because as much as I denied it, I loved you."
Sanjay walked away and sat on the couch, "I want to believe you, but how can I? How do I know you are not just saying this because you want to stop me from exposing your secret? That you are just thinking of your career?"
She sat down on the other end of the couch, "You are right. Based on my history, that would make sense." She smiled ruefully, "It is ironic isn't it? I finally find I do love you. Something I know that should make you happy, but I have made it so you don't trust me."
"I think I know how I can convince you. What if I told you I am willing to go to Patel and tell him the truth. How I cheated on Leonard, then asked him to lie about him cheating on me? I wouldn't have to tell him it was you although I am sure he would assume it was when we are together."
He stared at her, "You would do that? It will probably wreck your career. I know how much it means to you."
"It does. But I am shocked to find my love for you and yours for me is more important." She smirked, "Besides, I am a hell of a Lawyer. I will land on my feet somewhere." She smiled, "I will tell him how I did tell him the truth about how I want to stay in India. I will likely lose my partnership but I am arrogant enough to think they may well decide I am too valuable to let go."
She walked over and took his hands, looking into his face. "At the worst, I will go out on my own."
She leaned forward and kissed him softly, "I do love you, Sanjay. I want to be with you."
Sanjay was overwhelmed. Did she really mean it? Or was she thinking that he would believe her and thus agree not to reveal her secret because he did love her?"
Then, he realized he couldn't take the chance of losing her. He wanted, needed to believe her.
He smiled, "I do believe you. I do love you." He hesitated, "But there is no reason for you to ruin your career now that I know how you feel." He paused, "And what about your family?"
She smiled back but then shook her head, "Thank you. But I have been playing with people's lives for too long. I need to get things right. I need to tell them the truth. As for my family, this is what they have always wanted. It won't hurt them to feel a little shame."
Sanjay was shocked, he was about to remind her that he almost surely would be considered the one she cheated with, that she should protect him. But then he realized she was right. She needed to do her best to set things right, to make a fresh start.
"I am proud of you. And don't worry, we will be fine. I know you will find something to do that you can be proud of."
He stood up, "I am feeling better. Why don't we celebrate our finding each other."
Priya smiled, "I think that is an excellent idea, but I think I should do most of the work."
They walked hand in hand to the bedroom. Their lovemaking had always been satisfying, but now there was something new, something special between them. It had been a long journey but they knew they were where they belonged.
