Previous chapter: Bella - BPOV

Man, this woman is all levels of crazy. I shake my head as I say: "You and what army, Victoria. The newborns you created to kill me are dead, and you will follow soon." Two other vampires join Victoria, and she cackles as she says: "The others were merely a distraction. They did what they were supposed to do, spread you all out thin so that I could easily reach you. Those two kids won't be enough to save you. Riley, Bree, use those wonderful gifts of yours and bring me her head."

Jasper - JPOV

I feel Bella's emotions spike as I rip the last newborn's head off. I throw it to Peter as I turn around to search for my mate and growl as I see Victoria standing near the forest's edge. I scold myself for not keeping close to Bella and start running her way as Jane and Alec move to flank their mother. I smile as Bella says: "You and what army, Victoria. The newborns you created to kill me are dead, and you will follow soon." That's right, pumpkin. Keep her talking. I'm almost back at your side.

I hiss as two newborns emerge from the forest to stand next to Victoria. That must be the two gifted ones. I can hear Caius cursing as he starts to run toward Bella as well. I roar as Victoria says: "Those two kids won't be enough to save you. Riley, Bree, use those wonderful gifts of yours and bring me her head." No one threatens my mate and lives.

Bella - BPOV

I gasp for unneeded air as Riley conjure two large balls of fire in the palms of his hands, and I pull Alec and Jane behind me. I hiss as he takes a few steps forward and says: "Silly Bella, you can't protect them from us. Bree and I are invincible together. We're going to end them and hand you over to our sire. You will pay for killing her mate. Bree, what are you waiting for?"

I look at the young girl that moves to stand beside him and see her staring at me. Confusion is written all over her face. The smug look in Riley's face fades as Bree shakes her head and says: "She's not responding to my gift. She's not moving."

Victoria shrieks: "What do you mean? How can that be? You're not trying hard enough. I told you not to have mercy. I want her head! Now, try again, or I'll end you."

She slaps the girl across the face, and I cringe as I hear her skin crack. Bree looks at Victoria with fear in her eyes and stumbles a few steps back. Alec rushes forward with a loud growl and moves to stand between Bree and Victoria. Jane screams out in horror as Riley sends a ball of fire Alec's way. Caius materializes beside her and stops her from rushing in while I focus my gift on my son. No one harms my children.

Victoria looks smug as the fireball flies toward Alec, and I laugh as it explodes in a million sparks as it hits my shield. Alec smiles brightly as he leads the girl our way. Jasper hugs me from behind, and I lean back into his chest as Victoria turns to me and yells: "What are you?"

"I'm your worst nightmare."

Victoria shrieks again and yells: "Riley, burn them all. She can never keep them all safe."

Jasper – JPOV

I can feel Bella tense as Victoria orders Riley to attack. I send her a burst of confidence and love. She squeezes my hand as she focuses her gift to shield every one of us. Riley sends fireball after fireball our way, but they all explode against her shield. Peter lets out a loud booming laugh as Victoria stomps her foot like a petulant child, and says: "What's up, redhead? Are things not goin' your way?"

Victoria gives him a death glare, and her voice is laced with venom as she hisses: "You may have won this round, but I won't rest until the bitch is dead. My next army will be bigger. I know the extent of her gift now. I will find someone capable of killing her, even if it's the last thing I do. Let's go, Riley!"

Peter laughs even louder as Victoria turns to run away and notices Felix and Demetri are standing behind her. She growls as she takes a step back and says: "You think you're so clever, but you won't catch me. That's my gift."

She giggles as she jumps high into the air and lands behind Demetri and Felix. She turns to give us a wink and give Riley an apologetic look as she says: "Sorry, Riley. You're on your own now. Too bad, I actually liked you."

Riley tries to follow her and lets out a strangled cry as Jane hits him with her gift. He falls to the ground while begging Victoria to help him. She doesn't give him a second glance as she turns to run away, while successfully dodging Demetri and Felix. I growl, knowing that I can't take her out with a wave of lethargy without hitting them as well, but there's no way in hell that I'm going to let her get away. I send a massive wave of lethargy their way and smile as I realize that Bella is shielding Demetri and Felix from it.

I kiss the top of her head as Peter moves to capture Victoria and says: "I didn't know stupidity was a gift, but you, sure as hell, mastered it. You were never goin' to get out of here alive."

Victoria recovers extremely fast from the lethargy that floored her. She giggles as she jumps up before Peter can get a hold of her and says: "You'll never catch me. I'm gifted with evasion. Even when you think you got me, you don't. Until next time!"

Bella - BPOV

Hell, no! I've had enough of her. The only thing I want is to live in peace with Jasper and my family. I love it here in Montana, but I also want to see the world and visit my children and my father in Italy. I'm not going to spend the rest of my existence looking over my shoulder because she's still out there. This must end now.

I focus on my shield as Victoria tries to run, and create a large dome around her. I smile as a loud crash resonates across the military base as Victoria crashes into my shield. Victoria growls in frustration as she hits the shield repeatedly with both hands, trying to break through. Peter moves to stand in front of her on the other side of the shield and says: "Evasion, that's pretty nifty. Too bad you can't break a shield with it, redhead."

Caius moves to stand next to me and Jasper and says: "You can't let her out of there, Bella. I've encountered vampires with the gift of evasion before. They are slippery, to say the least. Do you know if you can move her, while shielded?"

I turn to look at Char questioningly. She shrugs her shoulders and says: "We never tried that before, sugar. But I'm pretty sure that you can. Try to make the dome smaller. That way, you can manipulate it more easily." I nod as I turn back to Caius and say: "Where do I move her too?"

Caius smirks as he points in the direction of a burning pyre and says: "Right in the middle of that pyre would be perfect, my daughter."

I don't hesitate for a second and nod affirmatively. This is what I must do if I want to have the future I dream of. I take Jasper's hand in mine and squeeze it gently as I focus on the dome that's surrounding Victoria. It takes me a few tries to figure out how to make the dome smaller.

Victoria tries to break my focus by telling me about how she tortured my mom. Her words only strengthen my resolve to end her pitiful existence. She is going to burn in hell for what she did to my mom and Phil. I start to drag the small dome in the direction of the pyre. Victoria shrieks in terror as the distance between her and the fire gets smaller.

I stop the dome from moving as it touches the edge of the pyre, and say: "Victoria, your mate was a sadist. He hunted me and tortured me, just because he felt like it. He was a poor excuse of a vampire, and he got what he deserved. I relish in the memory of him screaming as Jasper tore him apart and the fire consumed him.

You blame me, but you should blame him for fucking up. He messed with the wrong coven then, and you messed with the wrong girl now. You will burn for what you did to my mother. You can join that mate of yours in hell. I hope you burn there for the rest of eternity."

Jasper – JPOV

Bella doesn't wait for Victoria's reply as she moves her into the pyre. She takes an unneeded breath and leans back against my chest as we watch Victoria burn. I shake my head as Peter spits into the fire and says: "Tell Satan I said hi."

Another strangled cry pulls our attention back to Riley, and Caius moves to stand in front of him as he orders Jane to stop her attack. Felix and Demetri pull Riley back on his feet and keep a tight grip on him to prevent his escape. Caius turns to look at me and says: "Do you want the honor this time, Major?"

I nod and move in front of Riley as I place my hand on both sides of his head. I stare into the distance and ignore his pleas for mercy as I twist his head off. The sound of metal tearing rings out across the base, and I suddenly realize that I didn't feel his emotions when I ended his life. I throw the lifeless head to Peter with the order to burn it and pull Bella flush against me as I kiss her passionately. I send her all my love and devotion as I pull back and say: "You're incredible, pumpkin. I love you so much."

Bella smiles at me as she sends me her love in return and says: "I love you more than life itself, Jasper." I sigh happily as I let her emotions wash through me. I spin Bella around so that we can watch as Peter throws Riley's head into the fire. Felix picks up the body and tosses it into the fire as well. That's two down, one to go.

A sudden growl from Alec makes us turn around again, and I raise my brow questioningly as I look at the scene in front of us. Alec is protecting Bree while the girl clings to his back. I smile softly as I read his emotions and realize that we're in for a surprise. I send Bella a wave of reassurance as Caius and Jane try to reason with Alec, and say: "Everything will be all right, darlin'. You don't have to worry."

Bella gives me a doubtful glance, and I shake my head as Caius tries to take a step toward Alec and says: "Alec, step away from the girl. She tried to harm Bella. She tried to harm your mother. We need to punish her." Bella takes a small step toward her son, and I pull her back as I say: "Patience, pumpkin. Let him handle this. He's doing great."

Bella squeezes my hand tightly as Jane stomps her foot and yells: "Alec, move! She tried to hurt mom. She's going to pay for that."

Alec shakes his head vigorously and says: "No, I can feel that she never truly wanted to hurt mom. She was forced to come. I won't let you hurt her. She's my mate."
