Kanto Part 30
After a month of staying at Rota, Ash and Alice are now back at Pallet Town as they decide to go see Professor Oak. Professor Oak says, "It seems like the two of you have finally finished the Kanto Pokedex, that is great news."
"Thanks, Professor." Ash says, "We couldn't have done it without the help of our Pokemon." Ash says.
"But there are still more Pokemon in other regions, which means that your next goal is the Johto Region, right?" Professor Oak asks, and the two of them nod. Ash says, "Our mothers have prepared our new houses in New Bark Town, so we would be moving there once we travel around this place to see what we have missed."
"I see." Professor Oak says. "Well, I have something for you. These are the S.S Tickets for the S.S Aqua, it is a cruise that travels around Vermilion City and Olivine City in Johto. I think you should accept these."
Ash and Alice take the items and thanks to the Professor, and then they decide to go to different places of the Johto Region to see what is different.
In Saffron City, they manage to find a station for the Magnet Train, which links to the Goldenrod City in the Johto Region, they are going to make sure that they will ride for once. They find a character named Copycat, and she told them that she lost her doll in Vermillion City, Ash and Alice decide to help the girl out by finding her doll, which is actually being found by a member of the Pokemon Fan Club, and he agrees to return the doll. After giving the doll back to Copycat, she gives them the pass that allows them to board the Magnet Train.
And as they head to Lavender Town, they notice that the Pokemon Tower is now converted into Kanto Radio Tower. Alice says, "I wonder what happened to the graves if this is converted to a Radio Tower?"
"I don't know, but I think where it is, I just hope those souls may rest in peace." Ash says with a sigh, but just as they enter the Radio Tower, they find that the power are off, so they are asked by the director to check out the Power Plant which is at Route 10.
They also manage to see the Pokemon Power Plant being relocated, and Electric Pokemon that live inside are now gathering outside of Route 10 and the abandoned site. But there is theft so that Ash and Alice decide to go check it out by heading to Cerulean City. It turns out that a Team Rocket grunt who refuses to give up the fact that Giovanni is arrested stole some of the machine parts, Ash and Alice battle his Golbat and then they manage to bring back the machine parts to the Power Plant.
After the Power Plant is returned to normal, they go to the Radio Tower, and the director thanks them by giving them the EXPN Card. A card that allows them to use their Rotom Phones to listen to broadcasts from Johto's Radio Tower and Kanto's Radio Tower for free.
Nighttime has approached when Ash and Alice are now walking on Route 7, they see some Murkrow flying past them and Ash says, "You know, I always wonder when we are going to capture some Dark Type Pokemon."
"But we can just do it right now." Alice says as Ash has Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, causing the Murkrow to fall in shock and Ash uses the chance to capture it.
Johto Dex Entry No.47 Murkrow: The Darkness Pokemon: Dark and Flying Type. It is said that when chased, it lures its attacker onto dark mountain trails where the foe will get lost.
After that, they also notice some Houndour wandering around for food, but just as they spot Ash and Alice, they start to bark, so Ash sends out Golduck to battle against them, with the Super Effective Water attacks, Houndour is defeated and Ash also captures one.
Johto Dex Entry No.77 Houndour: The Dark Pokemon: Dark and Fire Type. To corner prey, they check each other's location using barks that only they can understand.
After that, they decide to take a rest for the day by camping out. The next day, they go to Celadon City as they find that the Game Corner is continuing with its business but there is no Team Rocket's hideout in there. Ash also partakes in an eat-a-thon competition, causing Alice to sweat drops at how Ash can eat a lot.
By going to the Cycling Road, Ash uses it as an exercise for how many he has eaten, and Ash also captures a Slugma with the help of Gyaraods.
Johto Dex Entry No.67 Slugma: The Lava Pokemon: Fire Type. A common sight in volcanic areas, it slowly slithers around in a constant search for warm places.
And due to the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City is relocated to Johto, the old one has changed into a special Pokémon preserve known as Pal Park. The difference is that the place allows a lot of trainers to place their Pokemon and rest if they are from another region. And both Ash and Alice are interested in the concept of this place.
They also visit the gyms and having rematches with the gym leaders, but when they are at Fuchsia City Gym, they find that the gym leader has changed. A girl walks towards them and she says, "So you must be Ash, the new Champion of the Kanto Region."
Ash asks, "Who are you and where is Koga?"
The girl says, "My name is Janine, Koga is my father and I have replaced him as the Gym Leader of Fuchsia City. The reason is that my father was asked by Lance to become the Johto Elite 4."
"Wow, Koga is now an Elite 4 member...which means that you are going to face him again when you go to the Johto League." Alice says.
"I know." Ash says, "Then if you won't mind, can I have a battle with you?"
Janine nods as they have a four-on-four battle, she is using Venomoth and Weezing which were passed down from her father, and she also uses some Johto Pokemon like Ariados and Crobat. Ash is struggling against her for a while, but in the end, he manages to win and Janine also thanks for the battle.
After leaving Fuchsia City, they are now heading to Pewter City, they visit the Science Museum and they hear from the scientists that the Volcano on Cinnabar Island has erupted and a lot of people have been evacuated, including Blaine and the others, Ash and Alice are shocked by the news, which means that if they want to challenge Blaine, then he will be located at Seafoam Islands.
On Cinnabar Island, they manage to see Gary there and Ash asks, "What are you doing here, Gary?"
"Ashy Boy, Alice. Good to see you again." Gary says, "Well, I was here because of research from Gramps. Take a look around. A volcano erupts, and just like that, a whole town disappears. We can go on winning and losing in Pokémon, but if nature so much as twitches, we can be overwhelmed in a second… That's the way it is… But, anyway, I'm still a Trainer. If I see a strong opponent, it makes me want to battle."
"That might be right, but what about your gym? Are you going back to the gym?" Alice asks, and Gary says, "I could have done that, but as you know when Gramps gave me a lot of work, I would have to do it. I heard that you two are going to Johto Region, right? Even though you are my rivals, I hope you can conquer the Johto League like you did in Kanto."
"Wow, thanks, Gary." Ash says as they share a bro hug. Then they go to the Seafoam Islands to see Blaine, he sets up a small gym, and he is still able to create a small stage for the quiz shows, much to Ash and Alice's amusement. This time Alice wants to try it out and Blaine agrees to let her do it.
And after they are done, they are back at Kanto, and they are packing some stuff since they are going to Johto to start their new adventure. Professor Oak also comes and they have lunch together. Professor Oak says, "I can't believe that you two are heading to Johto. It has been a year since you two started your journey, right?"
Alice says, "Of course, Professor. Back then, we always dream of being a Pokemon Master, and right now we might be the Kanto Masters."
"That might be right." Valerie says with a smile. "But remember, there is no end to learning, even if you are a talented trainer in Kanto, things might be different in Johto."
"Valerie is right, who knows what danger will you two encounter, and what obstacles you two have to face. Bad things aside, you can also think of what Pokemon you can find and what gyms you can take on." Delia says.
"Yeah, Mom." Ash says, "That reminds me, Professor. Do you know how many Johto Pokemon that we need to fill our Pokedex?"
"About that, my boy, you will need 100 Pokemon. But seeing your progress, I see that you have Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Murkrow, Slugma, Houndour, Smoochum, Elekid and Magby registered, which means you have 9 of the 100 Pokemon in your Pokedex."
"So all we need is to get 91 more and the Johto will also be completed as well." Alice says with a smile. "I can't wait."
"Me too." Ash says as they continue to have their lunch.
Once they are done with their meals, they are now riding a car that takes them to Johto Region, after passing Route 1, Viridian City, Route 22, they are now at Route 26, Route 27 until they are at their destination, New Bark Town.
After getting into their new homes, they are now taking notes of the past journeys for them to learn new things on a new page of their journey. Ash and Alice also change their outfits so that they will be different from the Kanto.
Ash is now wearing a red-colored long-sleeved shirt with yellow shorts, and his hat is now yellow and black colored. His backpack is also white-colored, and it is strapped on. As for Alice, she is wearing a white-colored hat with a red ribbon tied on it, a red shirt with blue overalls, and white over-the-knee socks with black stripes on them. He is holding a yellow bag which is much more like a purse.
Once they are meeting each other with the new clothes, Ash says, "Alice, you look really beautiful."
"You are handsome as well, Ash." Alice says, "I know we like to do that a lot, but I think it is time that we go greet the Professor of this region."
"You're right, according to Professor Oak, the Professor of the region is a man named Professor Elm. His lab is not far away from here as well." Ash says as they all decide to head there.
