CH 31

Sam carried on munching on her chicken while Jack got the rest of the bags out of his truck, then he locked it up. Then he pushed the wheelchair to the first check point. Ten minutes later they were back in their quarters. Jack sorted out the bags while Sam was munching on a piece of chicken. Jack showed Sam what he brought, when Sam saw each of the items she smiled.

"Jack, they are so cute"

"I knew you would like them" After he put them back into the bags, he sat down and looked at Sam. Sam stopped eating which she sensed something was wrong.

"Jack, what's wrong?"

"I went home to drop this stuff off, we saw cars, trucks, vans everywhere on our front lawn"

"What, how many?"

"Our best guess – over two hundred people were there… they were putting extenuations onto the house, Sam"

"What?" Sam was shocked.

"Yeah, I recognized some of the cars from personnel here. Sam, the house is huge, it's twice as big now, when I saw what they were doing they were almost finished"

"Wow, sounds like they are planing to surprise us, but for what and where did the money come from?"

"Dad might know"

"Yeah, that means there are going to be what, fifteen bedrooms?"

"I don't know, but I got a funny feeling we will know soon, and my best guess it's an engagement, wedding present all in one with baby shower to top it off"

"Could be" Then Jack picked a piece of chicken and started munching on it, then Sam did the same.

"Lantash likes this"

"That's good to know" They talked while they ate the barrel of chicken.

Jack had three pieces while Sam ate the rest. When she finished eating the last piece and the bones were back in the bucket, Jack got up and went into the bathroom, then returned with a wet face cloth and hand towel so Sam could wipe her hands then dry them. While she was doing that, Jack took care of the rubbish for them, then he returned and took care of the two cloths, then he walked back and sat down facing Sam.

"How are you feeling now?"

"Good, kids are happy" she said as she patted her stomach.

"That's good to know, so what do you feel like doing this afternoon?"

"Go to the park and watch other kids play as well as get some air"

"Sure, well, when you're ready"

"I am ready"

"Ok" he stood up and put his jacket on, then he pusher the wheelchair out of their quarters and towards the elevator.

Half an hour later Jack was pushing the wheelchair through the park to where kids young and old were playing. Jack stopped the wheelchair next to a park bench, then he sat down next to it. Both he and Sam looked at the kids playing, laughing running, having fun. Jack turned to look at Sam who was looking at him.

"Jack, are you ok?"

"Yeah I am… last time I was here was when Charlie was alive" Sam put her hand into his and gave it a light squeeze which he did back in return.

"Jack, tell me about Charlie, about what he was like"

"Why?"

"Cause you never know, our kids could be like him"

"You think so?"

"You never know"

Jack nodded then he turned and looked at the kids who were just leaving the playground and heading home. Jack turned to Sam and looked into her eyes. Jack started telling Sam about what Charlie was like when he was little and the times they had together when he wasn't away, baseball games he loved to play, about what he was like at home, everything.

When it was starting to get dark, they headed back to Jack's truck while he still talked about Charlie. Just after they got into the truck, Jack's cell phone rang; he looked at the phone number.

"It's Dad" then he answered it.

"O'Neill"

"Jack, it's Jacob, is Sam with you?" Jack turned to looked at Sam.

"Yes, she's here, do you need to talk to her?"

"No, I call to let you know that your furniture arrived this afternoon"

"Oh, ok, where are you?"

"At home; I got some meat for a barbecue, if you two want to come home for it"

"Ah sure, fire up the barbecue, we will be there in half an hour" Sam frowned at Jack who was smiling.

"Ok, Jack see you soon" then they both hung up.

"Jack, our house is five minutes away"

"I know that; my best guess is that there is going to be a barbecue party waiting for us"

"Well, then let's go cause I'm hungry" Jack laughed.

"Well, then we better go home" Jack started his truck and they headed home.

When they got there, Sam was shocked when she saw how big the house was; there were cars everywhere. Jack parked his truck in the open garage, then he helped Sam out of it and into the wheelchair. Then they went through the door that led out to the back of the house. They stopped to see over six hundred people there. When they saw Jacob, Jack smiled.

"Hey Dad, I hope you brought plenty of steaks" Jack yelled out.

Everyone stopped talking and turned to see Jack and Sam smiling at them. Jacob walked over to them.

"You guys are early and not shocked"

"Well Dad, I saw the cars and house this afternoon and I told Sam over an hour ago, then you called, we put two and two together"

"Ah, well, come on, after all it's your party"

"What sort of party, Dad?" Sam asked.

"Your engagement, wedding baby, shower all in one"

"We thought so… I'm hungry" Jacob laughed.

"Well come on, you can have some snacks till dinner is ready"

Jack pushed the wheelchair as they followed Jacob over to a table; when they got there, the guests walked over to congratulate them and talked to them both while Jacob got them both a drink. While they were talking to guests, waiters walked around with trays of finger food for all the guests. Jack was able to get some food for Sam and himself. Half an hour later dinner was ready and everyone heard from the patio:

"Can I have every one attention, please" came through the speakers since the last song was played for the evening. Everyone went quiet and looked at Jacob.

"Jack, Sam, can you come up here please"

Jack stood up and pushed the wheelchair over and up the ramp so they could look at them there.

"Jack, Sam, I know you got a lot of questions about what's going on. First of all, as you know, it's your belated engagement and wedding party, and it's also your baby shower party. As for what's going on here with the house, well a sustain group paid for the renovations and extenuation of the house, as an apology for what some of their people did to you both… You know whom I'm talking about" they both nodded knowing he was talking about the NID.

"And they also paid for all the nursery things you will be needing for the kids for the next eighteen years and five fully qualified full clearance nannies to help look after the kids and a cleaning company to take care of the house work. And a garden and lawn mowing to take care of things outside. There is also someone to take care of the swimming pool"

Jack and Sam were shocked with what they had just been told. They were holding on to each others hands when Jacob told them about what they got. Jacob pass the microphone to Jack.

"Wow, thank you all for this, for everything. We are looking forward to checking inside the house later, but for now lets eat before Sam gets cranky" Sam hit his ass which caused a few chuckles for the ones who saw it.

"See what I mean, I hope you all enjoy yourselves. As for second wedding, we are planing on having it on our first wedding anniversary, so know you know… lets eat and thank you"

Everyone clapped, then they worked their way over to where the food was. When Jack pushed the wheelchair over to the table, he sat down next to her and waited till everyone else got their dinner. They saw the six other pregnant women and their boyfriends there. Jack and Sam had had a chance to meet them when they were at the SGC.

They got full clearance and were looking forward to going off world and starting a new life with their boyfriends. They were sitting down for a couple of minutes when waiters walked over with plates, knife and forks in hand. They put them on the table in front of them, then walked over to where the other couples were and did the same before returning back to where they were before.

Then they returned again carrying trays in hand. They walked over to Jack and Sam first. When they saw what they got they helped themselves before the waiters walked over to the next table, then back to where they were before. Sam started eating hers since she was hungry.

Then the waiters return again with different food. Jack put food on both his and Sam's plates before they walked over to the others. They did it four times before walking back over to the where the other food was. Jack watched Sam as she enjoyed her dinner.

"Mmm, this is so good," Sam said.

"That's good to know Sam, even Lantash is enjoying the taste of it"

"That's good, is there any food he doesn't like?"

"Nope, but he is fussy when it comes to coffee" Sam giggled.

They talked for a few minutes while enjoying their dinner, when their friends and family walked over to them and sat down at the table. They talked for the next hour while enjoying dinner. The outside party lights were turned on since it was getting dark. After dinner, the desserts came out; when Sam saw what it was she licked her lips when she saw three chocolate fountains.

One was dark, one normal, and the last white chocolate. Jack got up and walked over to the table and picked up peace of fruit and dipped it into the flowing chocolate, then he let it harden, then did it again. A few minutes later he was over with two plates in hand. He passed the bigger one to Sam before he sat down next to her.

Sam saw that Jack had three different chocolates dip in to the fruit pieces and sweets for her. They talked to the others while enjoying eating them. Afterwards Jack got them a drink, then he pushed Sam around to the other tables so they could talk to some of the guests there for a while.

When people started getting up to dance, Jack knew Sam loved to dance, but there was no way they could dance like some of the couples could, then Lantash gave him an idea which Jack liked. So he stood up and stepped till he was in front of Sam.

"Sam, care to dance?"

"Jack, we can't"

"Sam" he looked at her.

"Trust me"

"I do"

Jack moved around to the back of the chair, then he pushed it up the ramp of the patio, then he stopped and stepped around the front and helped Sam to her feet. Then they stepped over to where the railing was, then he stepped behind her and wrapped his arm around her stomach. Sam leaned back against him, then they started to sway against the soft music that was playing while looking over the back yard. Sam hand was on top of Jack's as he rubbed her stomach.

"How are you feeling, Sam?" he asked when he whispered in her ear.

"Good, you?"

"I'm good, great party"

"Yeah, I think we should hire the dessert people for our second wedding"

"I was thinking the same thing after I watched you enjoy your dessert"

"Mmm, this feels good"

"Lantash's idea"

"Thanks, Lantash"

"You're welcome, Samantha" he said.

Jacob was talking to his son while holding Katie in his arms. Katie looked around till she saw Jack snuggling Sam from behind, she smiled when she saw them kiss.

"Grand Dad"

"Yes Katie"

"Look!" she pointed to where Jack and Sam were.

Jacob turned and smiled when he saw them. Then Mark saw them; he could see how happy they were together.

"They look happy," Mark said.

"Yes they are, they've been through a lot in the past three and half years"

"Yeah, I'm glad Sam is happy"

"Same here" then General Hammond walked over to them, and he looked at what they were looking and smiled at the couple then he turned to Jacob.

"Who would have thought that those two would get together and be happy?"

"The SGC" Jacob said.

They watched them for a couple of minutes before they started talking to each other. Jack and Sam were watched, everyone for ten minutes as well as kissing, before Sam needed to go to the bathroom. Jack helped Sam back into the wheelchair, then he pushed it inside to see the change that was done to the house.

After they found the new toilet, Jack left Sam to it while he waited outside. When he heard the toilet flush, he waited for a minute before opening the door a tad.

"Sam, are you ok?"

"Yes, you can open the door" Jack opened the door to see Sam in the wheelchair drying her hands.

"I'm glad they put these bars up on the wall"

"Yeah, good idea alright." Sam hung up the towel then wheeled herself out the door.

"Lets check out the rest of the house" Jack said.

"Yeah, why not" Jack pushed Sam chair down the hallway.

They looked in different rooms. They saw the laundry room where there were two eight kilo washing machines and driers.

"They sure will come in handy," Sam said.

"Yeah, with the kids' clothes and diapers"

Then they checked out other rooms of the house. There was a huge games room and wet bar. There was a pool table and dartboard.

"Cool, a pool table, just imagine you practising playing before going to O'malley's"

"You would like that, wouldn't ya?" then he bent over and whispered in her ear.

"Yep, and I can think of other things it can be used for as well…. Mrs O'Neill"

"I bet you can, Jack" she said smiling.
