A/N: So I'm really bummed out, my FF Facebook account got suspended and blocked and I have no idea why! If someone had the same thing happen to them or can help me find out what caused it, let me know, I'd appreciate it!

~The sweetest smiles hold the darkest secrets~

I call Edward about 10 minutes after he left and tell him I need to leave the house and just go somewhere - anywhere.

"Pack a bag," he replies, sensing my distress.

"What, why?" I ask. I thought we would just go for a ride somewhere, is he going to get us a hotel again?

"You can stay with me for a few days if you need to."

I'm shocked, I barely know the minimum about Edward's family and I don't even know where he lives. For how secretive he's been, I'm surprised he's ready for me to meet his family and sleep over his house.

Hopefully his family will be more welcoming than mine was. He was halfway home but turns back around to come get me.

I pack a quick overnight bag and head towards the front door once I'm done.

Charlie stops me in my tracks when he sees the bag in my hand. "Bella, where do you think you're going?" He questions with his eyes narrowed.

"Look Dad, I just need some space right now. I'll be staying with Edward for a few days, I'll be fine," I muttered, dreading this conversation.

Even though I'm upset with him, I don't want him to worry.

"I'm not ok with that young lady," he scolded.

I ignore him, not in the mood to get into another fight. I just need Edward right now and if Charlie's going to try to keep him away from me, I'm leaving.

Much to my dismay, he keeps on yelling after me but knows he can't stop me.

I head outside to Edward's car, knowing Charlie won't chase after me. He wouldn't want to garner the nosy neighbor's attention and cause a scene outside.

Once I get in Edward's car, he leans over, gives me a quick kiss and places his hand on my knee. "Look, I'm sorry for what happened in there. I really tried my best to be polite, but he was just pushing…"

I cut him off with a kiss, "Shh, it's ok, you don't have to explain yourself. As much as I wish that would've gone better, it wasn't all your fault and I don't blame you for what you did. I know that you handled it the best you could. I don't know why he was acting like that; well I fought with him anyway and just can't be around him right now. That's why I had to leave and I wanted to make sure you were ok."

"I don't want to get between you and your dad."

"You're not. He barely cares about what I'm doing half the time, he'll get over it eventually, he's just playing the part of the protective dad. I'm not losing you." I brush my fingers through his hair and kiss his scruffy chin.

"Well, you can stay with me for as long as you'd like, baby," he drawled.

"Your parents don't mind?"

"I don't care what they think but I know my mom and sister will love you," he croons.

Weird that he didn't mention his dad, maybe he wasn't in the picture?

After a fifteen-minute drive, we arrive at Edward's home. I'm in awe, it's a gorgeous mid-century modern mansion with large glass windows and lush land surrounding the home.

So this confirms that Edward – or his family at least has money. I like that you would have no clue that Edward comes from a lifestyle like this based on the way he acts and looks. He doesn't act anything like many of the posh, rich snobs that I know. Edward looks more like the type of guy that lives in the basement of a bdsm club – without the creepiness.

I always thought I lived in a decent sized home, but this makes my house feel like a Barbie doll house.

The house is equally stunning inside; surrounded with white marble floors, crystal chandeliers and wrought iron staircases.

I'm even more nervous to meet his family now, what if they judge me? I usually never care what people think but they are his parents and it's bad enough that my dad doesn't like him; I don't need his parents hating me too.

I'm not dressed up; just in some old jeans and plain shirt, my hair's not even combed but then I look at Edward in all his rugged, messy glory and if they're ok with him, I hope they'll accept me.

We head into the living room to meet his family.

The second Edward just says my name to a beautiful woman who I'm guessing is his mom; she jumps from the couch and pulls me into a hug like she knows me – ok I wasn't expecting that.

She was beautiful with rich golden hair, soft hazel eyes and a tall, slim figure; that's where Edward got his striking hair color from.

"Oh Bella, it's so wonderful to meet you, I've heard so much about you! You're the only thing about this town that Edward doesn't hate," she says with a huge, motherly smile on her face.

"Ok, that's enough mom," Edward groans. "And this is my insane little sister Alice, watch out for her, she's terrifying."

An incredibly cute and tiny girl that looks a few years younger with the same captivating green eyes as Edward and a short black bob bounces over to us with so much energy; not the least bit scary, at least not in the way Edward is.

"Oh my god Bella, I couldn't wait to meet you. We're gonna be best friends!" She shrieks in excitement.

I laugh at the thought of how the women in his life are the complete opposite of Edward; they are bubbly little rays of sunshine and he's the dark, gloomy, eerie raincloud.

"It's so nice to meet you both," I grin widely. I already love them, cheering me up after what happened with Charlie. It's a relief that at least one of our families accept us together.

Edward groans in displeasure but has a hint of a smile on his face. Even his moody ass can't deny that they make him happy.

His family was so warm, loving and welcoming, I'm amazed. Based on the way Edward acts, I always thought he came from a broken family or had serious family issues.

I am so relieved that Edward wasn't completely alone and did have other people in his life that love him. I was really worried about him, thinking he had a really hard life and had nobody. Why was he so worried to bring me home?

I wonder what's eating at him then? Something has had to happen for him to be so distressed; or maybe they're pretending to be normal? People can hide things extremely well - I would know.

No… no, I immediately remove that thought from my head; they're too pure, too nice – nothing like me.

I'm assuming that his dad doesn't live with them then? No one said anything about him and Edward hasn't told me much about his father.

We talk for a while, getting to know each other. They are super sweet, mainly asking questions about me, not really talking about themselves or their past. What's with this whole family and their privacy?

At least they seem glad that Edward has someone special in his life now; their words not mine.

"We couldn't tolerate Edward when he first moved here. He was so miserable but he's changed a lot since he met you. He finally smiles now." Esme nudges him playfully with a grin on her face.

"Seriously, you guys are so embarrassing," he groused, hiding his face with his tattooed hand.

"So do you miss California?" I ask, trying to get the attention off of Edward.

A sullen look crosses Esme and Alice's faces. After a moment of deep thought Esme responds, "It was nice living there for a bit but I think we all needed the change. Plus Carlisle and I grew up here so it's wonderful to be back and rekindle all of our old memories." Edward looks down, hiding his face, his body tense.

Esme senses his discomfort and changes the subject; I can tell how protective she is over Edward, it's very sweet. "Oh, how did I forget? So rude of me! Speaking of Carlisle, he isn't home yet, he's working at the hospital but he should be home in the next hour. I'm sure he'll be delighted to meet you."

Ok, so Edward's dad is in his life. It's like a clue game trying to unravel Edward's life.

At the mention of his dad, Edward pulls me up by my hand. "And that's our queue to go hide, we'll be in my bedroom."

"Edward, keep your door open young man!" Esme exclaimed half jokingly.

A blush covers my face as we head upstairs.

A/N: Some small reveals into Edward's past in the next couple of chapters. I know many of you are eager!
