Okay. The weekend has arrived!
Amma, this one is for you. Sure, you might not read this but Happy Mother's Day, Amma. So I dedicate this chapter to you.
Here we goo!
Percy:
We were trying to surprise mom because it was her birthday.
Turns out, it was a bad idea to put two five-year-old's in charge of mixing the batter with an electric mixer.
"Right... Cinnamon? Where the heck is cinnamon?" I mumbled to myself as I wandered around the grocery store. I was in a disguise as usual. I looked down to the list of ingredients Thalia wrote down for making her signature cinnamon vanilla cake. Yep, her cake is the best thing after blue waffles. I wanted to make mom this cake for her birthday.
And here I was trying to find the main ingredient. Seriously, where is the cinnamon?
"May I help you?" Someone asked. I dropped the basket I was holding because the voice scared the crap out of me. The employee looked pretty suspicious.
"Um. Yeah. Can you tell me where I can find cinnamon?" I asked her. She just pointed in the next aisle and there it was. Cinnamon.
"Thanks," I said and grabbed one of the containers. I managed to find the rest of the ingredients without bothering the nice lady.
I checked out of the store and walked onto the street. I texted Paul to take mom out for lunch or something and he texted me back a thumbs up and saying he already had a plan.
The kids are going to be my little helpers.
I got home and knocked on the front door. It was Paul who opened the door.
"Honey! Percy's here, let's go!" Paul yelled and mom hurriedly walked out.
Mom looked so beautiful. She was wearing a light pink dress that fell to her feet and had earrings dangling from her ears. She looked pretty dressed up, they were probably going to some restaurant.
"Happy birthday, mom," I said, hugging her. She smiled and waved and got into the car with Paul. She didn't know about the
And they drove off.
Right. Now with my master plan.
"Hey, guys!" I said as I saw the twins wandering in the hallway.
"Percy!" They yelled and hugged my legs. They reached my knees now. Wow, they're growing up fast.
"I need your help, okay?" I said and they nodded.
So they escorted me into the kitchen and sat on one of the bar stools. I took out all of the ingredients from the grocery bag and looked through the instructions Thalia gave.
The twins were peering curiously at the ingredients. I cleared my throat starting to feel nervous.
"Okay. Umm. Let's do this..." I managed to put all the ingredients and stir them.
"Percy?" Estelle tugged at my sleeve.
"Yeah?" I looked up from the instructions.
"Maybe... we can mix the bowl?" She asked fiddling with her thumbs. Aw.
"Yeah, sure." I smiled.
Bad idea. I should've known it was a bad idea.
I handed them the electric mixer and guided them. Suddenly, the kitchen was in pure chaos. Tyson sped up the electric mixer and the batter flew everywhere covering us from head to toe.
Estelle started running around in panic. Tyson started to cry. I tried to stop Estelle from running and at the same time trying to stop Tyson from crying.
Finally, I managed to make them sit on the bar stools. I turned off the electric mixer and took a deep breath.
The twins looked scared, probably thinking I was angry. Sure, I was. But then I started laughing. Literally, like a maniac.
Then the twins cracked a smile and looked at each other and started laughing with me. This was just what I expected to happen with these kids.
After we laughed for a good five minutes.
"Let's clean you up, eh?" I said and took them both to the bathroom upstairs.
I managed to bathe them both and let them play with the water before towelling them dry. I don't know how mom managed with these two. They are little devils.
I let them pick their clothes and switched on the T.V before washing myself up.
Well, that was a failure. I realized I needed more help. I opened the group chat.
Come over. Need help. Mom's birthday.
Okay. Something similar happened to me once with my niece and nephew AND my little brother. My cousin sister and mom went shopping leaving the three kids with me and two full-grown men (AKA my dad and my cousin sister's husband).
All they two did was work on their computers. I had to take care of these three very naughty devils. I had to run around with them. My niece, the little devil, didn't put her pants back on after peeing so I had to run around the house trying to catch her. It was a very hectic day. But somehow I still smiled and didn't even yell at them, it was a major accomplishment.
But we all love them at the end of the day, right? I mean, hats off to our mothers for dealing with kids like these.
~Happy Mother's day!
COME ON DO IT! A LITTLE TYPING WON'T HURT YA!
