Epilogue
6 years later
Far in the outskirts of the Canal District contained a group of small islands. Each island were inhabited with towns that consisted of approximately 3,000 residents. Due to such a small population, every mammal knew one another and co existed for the most part. They were peaceful secluded areas; likely perfect for one to retire and escape the vast city life.
Near a shore on the south side of one of the islands was a secluded cabana home hidden by trees. Locals hardly ever saw the residents living there – only on rare occasions. The mammals that occupied the home kept to themselves mostly.
A light breeze blew across the lawn of the home into an open bedroom window. Inside was a sleeping mammal sprawled in bed in a deep sleep. She shifted slightly from the feeling of wind blowing against her muzzle.
"You better hope we never cross paths again Silvia, in this world or the next..." the words echoed in her head.
Suddenly she was standing on the patio of a condo located in the Rainforest District. She gazed anxiously upon the scenery of a full moon and stars. Suddenly the sound of a door closing behind her caused her to flinch. She slowly turned around.
There standing was a wolf now approaching her.
"Hey.." she greeted the wolf. "Didn't expect you to be awake.."
The wolf didn't say anything standing now right in front of her. His cold gaze pierced into her soul.
"Have you taken the test yet?" He questioned impatiently.
Her eyes immediately shot down. "Yes.."
"And?"
"It came back positive..." she answered nervously. The wolf smirked now placing a paw on the side of her face.
"Good" he whispered. "This child will be a blessing.."
"I ...I don't want to bring a child into this world of crime and violence you've created.." she spoke hesitantly still avoiding eye contact. "You promised this would all end onc-..."
"This would have all ended already if you killed that bunny when you had the chance" the wolf scorned dropping his paw. "I've proven my love for you... yet you're not returning the favor" he began walking back to the balcony door. The door slammed behind him followed by a clicking noise.
She immediately ran up to the door pulling on the handle. He locked her outside.
"Donte!" She yelled clawing at the door. He stared back at her with a look of amusement through the window. "Donte let... me... in!"
Suddenly a sound of knocking could be heard in the distance. But from where? The sound soon became closer and closer until..
Silvia opened her eyes now hearing a soft knock present at her bedroom door. She was drenched in sweat despite the cool breeze in her room from the open window.
"Mommy" a muffled voice spoke from the other side of the door.
"Yeah honey" Silvia answered with a yawn. The door slowly opened revealing a tiny mammal standing in the hallway. She ran over quickly jumping into the bed.
"Since you woke up late do I still have to go to school today?" the child asked looking up at her.
"Hmm...let me think...um..yes.. actually you do" Silvia giggled kissing her forehead. "Now go start getting ready."
"Fine..." the tiny mammal pouted now jumping off the bed rushing out of the room. Silvia got up moments later now making her way to the kitchen. She looked at the clock above the stove reading 8:34am. Her daughter had to be at school by 9:05.
"Alright, you're options are either cereal or oatmeal" Silvia called out opening the cabinet. She grabbed a bowl and spoon now placing them on the counter. After another moment of silence she placed her paws on her hips. "Trinity! I know you heard me!"
"Cereal" a tiny voice shouted back from the bathroom. Moments later the sound of running water along with music could be heard.
"Ugh..sweety please don't tell me you still have to take a shower..." Silvia groaned reaching for the box of 'Lucky Paws' on top of the fridge. She was definitely going to be late dropping her off at school today. 'Once again..I'm not setting the best example..' she thought to herself. The ocelot made her way into the living room.
Grabbing the remote off the couch, Silvia turned the television on taking a seat. A reality show about the rich house wives of Zootopia appeared on the screen. The ocelot shook her head at the seemingly perfect lifestyles these mammals were living with their perfect husbands.
'Well I guess if they treat you right..' she thought resting her chin on her paw. Silvia hadn't really tried dating much after what happened with him. All of her focus mainly went to raising her daughter and making sure she would have a good future. Besides, the few males she did bring around never stayed for long after discovering bits of her past. Technically speaking 6 years later, she was still a fugitive. That's the whole reason she left the city in the first place.
10 minutes into getting distracted by the show, the noise of running water in the bathroom shut off. After a few more minutes the bathroom door opened revealing a tiny mammal wrapped with a towel.
She made her way into the living room slumping beside her mother.
"Go make your bowl of cereal it's on the counter" Silvia murmured not taking her eyes off the television screen. "Go easy on the milk this time."
"Whatcha watching?" her daughter asked kicking her feet up. Silvia looked over at her in slight amusement.
"Nothing. You're to young to be wa-"
"Oouuu I love this show! Zootopia...couples?"
"Rich house wives of Zootopia" Silvia corrected with a laugh. "By the way you're not sneaky. You have roughly 5 minutes to eat that cereal and get dressed so vamos child." The ocelot scooted her with her paw. "Now."
"Or..I could just...stay here with you today..." she frowned looking up at her mother.
"Trinity Wilde Vines" Silvia spoke sternly. "You've already missed 5 days of school this semester. I'm sure your friends are starting to get worried."
"Yeah about that..." the child murmured nervously. "All of the kids there hate me." She turned away huddling further into the couch. Silvia raised an eyebrow looking over at her.
"I know that is not true Trin, why would they hate you.." Silvia spoke now reaching for the remote. She turned the volume down on the television. "What's going on?"
"Because.." Trinity mumbled. "I'm a...h-half breed...and that's the reason I don't have a daddy.." Her face was buried in the cushion of the couch. Silvias heart sank at hearing these words.
"That's..." Silvia began slowly. "Baby that's not true at all. Your father...he's... not here anymore.."
A sniff was heard from the small mammal. "Well...when is he coming back..?"
A silence ensued. Silvia took a deep breath now reaching over to her daughter. She pulled her close embracing her.
"Tell you what" Silvia began. "You can stay home today if – and only if; you don't ask anymore about..your father. At least not until you're a little older. Deal?"
Trinity whipped her eyes. "Okay..I guess so.."
"Alright. I will be talking to your teacher later regarding those comments those kids said to you" Silvia said now slowly releasing her.
"Why can't I go to a school in Zootopia.." Trinity spoke up. "All the mammals look so much nicer over there on the tv shows."
Silvia sighed. "Those shows can be misleading dear...I.." She trailed off thinking of the hard times she endured growing up in the Rainforest District.
"Okay.."Trinity nodded in response avoiding eye contact. She hopped down from the couch now making her way to her room.
"I love you" Silvia called out to her. A moment of silence passed.
"Love you" Trinity called back with a hint of sadness. The sound of the bedroom door closing shortly followed.
Silvia sat there with a deep wave of guilt. It wasn't fair to keep her past life a complete secret from her daughter. She didn't truly know anything about her mother aside from vague details. Every time a question about her past – specifically having to do with him occurred – she shut it down. When it came to asking why she didn't have grandparents or family holidays like other kids – she avoided it. Silvia didn't want to have to explain to her daughter that she was raised in a foster home. She felt ashamed..but maybe it was time to open up...just a tiny bit.
Silvia got up from the couch making her way back to her room. She reached her paw underneath her pillow pulling out a tiny key. She then unlocked the dresser drawer right beside the bed. Inside was her police badge with tranquilizer as well as a book of pictures from her time at Precinct 2. Grabbing the book and badge, she closed the drawer now heading out of the room. She came to a stop at her daughters bedroom door.
"Hey" she spoke softly. "Mind if I come in?"
"Sure.." a voice answered. Silvia opened the door seeing the tiny mammal wrapped up in her blanket facing away from her. She walked over to the bed taking a seat down beside her.
"I want to show you something" the ocelot spoke gently rubbing her daughters back. "Come on..."
The child reluctantly turned around to see what it was. Her eyes lit up now focusing on the book in her mothers lap. She leaned forward now slightly intrigued.
"Little early for a bedtime story.." Trinity snickered. "What is it?"
Silvia smiled now opening the book.
"This is mommy when she was in the police academy back in Zootopia." She pointed to a picture of her on an obstacle course. Trinitys eyes widened with excitement.
"YOU LIVED IN ZOOTOPIA?!" She shouted jumping to her feet. "AND..YOU WERE A POLICE OFFICER TOO?!"
"Yes. I did. And yes I was." Silvia calmly answered shaking her head. "Now please sit down and stop yelling."
"This is perfect!" the child squealed in excitement. "Next time Andrew says something I'm gonna get him and his friends put in jail!"
"That is not at all how that works child" Silvia laughed. "Also Andrews the suspect huh? Duly noted. Now sit."
Trinity belly flopped back on to the bed. She stuck her muzzle into the book staring at the pictures of her mother. Silvia smiled wearily at how invested she was in the photos.
"Gosh" Trinity mumbled flipping through the pages. "You look so young here. What happened mommy?"
"Having you aged me about 200 billion years you little brat" Silvia snickered. "By the way you won't make any new friends talking like that." Both mammals laughed now continuing through the book.
After another 5 minutes of flipping through pages Silvia closed the book. She reached into her pocket pulling out her old ZPD badge. Trinity stared in awe.
"Want to hold it?" Silvia asked passing the object to her. She grabbed the shiny item observing it closely.
"Officer...Vines" she murmured. A wide smile grew on her face suddenly. Trinity looked up at her mother with a smug look.
"What?" Silvia asked raising an eyebrow. "What is going on in that head of yours?"
"So does this mean.." Trinity began with a bigger smile. "I'm going to be a cop like you someday?"
Silvia laughed. "Honey you can be whatever you want" she assured. "Doesn't have to be an officer. You could be a nurse..dentist..or a-"
"Super secret agent officer Trinity Vines reporting for duty!" The small mammal yelled holding the badge up to her chest. She then attempted to solute. "Like this..?"
Silvia couldn't remember the last time she smiled that big. Seeing her daughter stand there proudly holding her badge against her chest caused emotions to brew inside her.
"Okay squirt first of all" she chuckled putting her right paw up. "You're supposed to solute with your right paw. Second what on earth is a 'Super secret agent officer'?" Silvia bursted out in laughter.
Trinity stuck her tongue out at her mother. "Just you wait I'm gonna go to Zootopia and lock up all the bad mammals."
Silvia sat for a moment looking her daughter in the eyes. The look was un mistakable determination. She rubbed her eyes at the thought. Trinity sat back down on the bed reaching for the book again. She began flipping through pages.
"What are you looking for?" Silvia asked curiously.
"Did you have any friends back in Zootopia?" Trinity asked abruptly. Silvia paused.
Two mammals instantly came into mind. A particular bunny and fox. The last time she saw them was a night 6 years ago on the balcony at the Palm Tree Hotel.
"Actually..." Silvia began. "I do..I..think."
Trinity peered at her mother. "Well how come they never come over or we never go there?"
"I...uh..well..I mean.." she trailed off. "Maybe sometime we will go out there. Who knows. I still have her number..my friend.." Silvia reached in her pocket pulling out her cell phone. Being off the map for so long she hadn't upgraded her phone in ages it felt like.
"Soo..call her" the tiny mammal suggested shrugging her shoulders. "I'll do it if your to scared.."
'Gosh I'm being lectured by a 6 year old..' Silvia thought smirking to herself. 'Then again...she is my daughter'. "Sure.. Why not."
She scrolled through her contact list. Judys name appeared. It had been quite some time since they talked so chances are she could have a different number. But it was worth a try. Holding her breath, Silvia pressed the call icon.
After 3 rings a voice answered.
"Hel- sorry hold on. Jacob Wilde get down from there right now!" A voice on the other end shouted. A series of loud noises followed with the sound of laughing.
Trinity spoke up abruptly "Did she say Wilde? Like... my middle name?"
"Shhh!" Silvia motioned trying to listen in.
A male voice could be heard in the background on the other line. "He's just having a bit of fun tha-"
"Nick don't encourage him!" she shouted back.
"R-right...uh okay bud play times over..." the male replied weakly in the background.
Both Silvia and Trinity sat there silently looking at each other.
"Alright sorry. Hello?" the voice answered again.
"H-hello..uh Judy?" Silvia hesitantly replied. This moment all seemed to surreal for her.
"Yes. Who's calling?" Judy answered curiously.
The ocelot choked almost in anticipation. After 6 years of not speaking it really was her – the bunny she had given a hard time to at first.
"It's me.." she answered nervously. "Silvia"

A/N
Hey guys, so wishful thinking here. I just watched the unofficial sequel to Zootopia on Youtube called "Return to Zootopia". Fan film of course. Perhaps I may have the funds to get this story fan animated with voice actors. Of course I would tone down some of the darker themes. It has been floating in my head. Who knows. Anyway again, if anyone out there is reading this and wants to do a sequel spin off of this story. I would love to read it. But for now my friends I guess this is it. Thank you your feedback. Also to Smiley, sorry for almost giving you a heart attack. I loved your comments. Made me laugh.
Alrighty one last time.
You're great. All of you.
Be safe.
