Hello, last chapter this week on this particular story and I'm also still looking for someone to read through my new fic, so let me know if you're interested. Now I knew I wanted to take this chapter and then the rest of the story I one of two ways, this was actually the second I wrote. the other I stopped writing after 2,000 words because as much as I enjoyed writing it I couldn't do it to Finn and Rory, but I have written it. If you'd like to read it let me know as I might post it as a one shot depending on if people want to read it or not. :)
Chapter 31
"Rory!" Lanny called out as the lift doors opened. She smiled on seeing him, she hadn't seen him at all this summer. She smiled wider as he held up a bag of pastries.
"Lanny!" Rory pulled him into a hug.
"See, I am your favourite." He joked passing her the bag of pastries and taking her arm as they headed for campus.
"Well, you do feed me." Rory laughed. "Thank you. How was your summer?"
"Mom made me take my little brother to camp." Lanny said unhappily.
"Ouch. Sorry." Rory said biting into a flaky croissant.
"Uh, it's fine. There was a very nice summer counsellor who was more than happy to make it worth my while." Lanny raised his eyebrows suggestively. "How was your summer then?"
"Great, I went to Australia with Finn, Mia and Colin. It was so beautiful." Rory said stopping at the coffee cart buying herself and Lanny a coffee. "And my mom and Luke got engaged."
"That's cool, give Lorelai my best wishes." Lanny said. "Where are we heading then?"
"I've got English lit first." Rory said.
"Lead the way madam and I shall follow like a trusty knight." Lanny said.
"The knights that say ni." Rory giggled.
"We are now the knights that say ekky-ekky-ekky-eeky-zbang, zoom-boing." Lanny added with a deep laugh.
"Oh yeah. Your definitely my favourite Lanny." Rory laughed with him.
"Finn will be pleased." Lanny said opening the door for her.
"Finn doesn't count." Rory rolled her eyes.
"Finn will be pleased." Lanny repeated.
"Thanks for walking me, again." Rory said at her classroom door.
"Thanks for the coffee. Learn good." Lanny laughed and walked away.
Rory went into the classroom and sat down; she was a bit early but not hours early. Mainly because Finn wouldn't let her be hours early.
Rory smiled as she recognised a few people from classes over the past two years. A girl, Jamie, who'd been in her poetry class last year sat next to her pulling out a notebook and pen.
"Hey." A chill went down her spine. She turned and looked. Sure enough Marty was sat right behind her.
Rory grabbed her pens and notebook and starting stuffing them back in her bag, there was no way she was taking this class now. She stood up her legs feeling wobbly then sat down almost instantly as Marty stood too. She was trapped. If she left he'd follow her. If she stayed he was right behind her. What did he want? Why was he still doing this? To what end? Was he going to try and hurt her? Did he just want Finn to break up with her? What? What was the point in these games really?
Rory took her phone out.
Rory: Marty's here in my class. He's sat behind me, I went to leave and so did he.
Finn: Stay in class. I'll be waiting when it finishes.
Rory breathed a little easier at that. But she still wanted to know why Marty was doing this. Did he find it funny to scare her?
Rory didn't hear a thing that the professor said. Didn't take notes. It was a waste of her time, a waste of a class, that she was now going to have to change.
"That was a fun class right Rory?" Marty said as the professor wrapped it up.
Rory ignored him and made her way out. Finn was waiting for her.
"Not talking to me anymore? No threats this time?" Marty asked following her out.
"Rory?" Finn said his face thunderous as she came out to him.
"Finn." Rory said flinging herself in his arms. She felt better, safer now.
"Come on love." Finn said wrapping his arm around her shoulder and steering her out the building.
"Really, your both just going to ignore me. That's rude." Marty said.
"How was class?" Finn asked.
"I don't know. I'm switching, I've just got to go over my schedule again." Rory said gripping his hand.
"Sorry love." Finn placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Do you know Rory told your friend you don't count. Guess she's still whoring around." Marty said and Finn's arm tensed but they carried on walking.
"When's your next class kitten?"
"Not for an hour." Rory replied.
"Good." Finn said and she realised where he was leading them.
"She brought him coffee too. She knew his order. She must spend a lot of time with your friends. Alone." Marty again. He was still following them, obviously not realising where they were going.
"Did Colin take Pepper out?" Rory asked.
"Yes love, don't worry." Finn chuckled but it was forced.
"Maybe you sell her out?" Marty said, obviously trying to get a rise.
"Oh, Paris said that she you have to be at the meet and greet. Doyle's having his own column. The world according to Doyle. Good luck with that angel." Finn said.
"Oh joy." Rory replied.
"Do you want Chinese for dinner?"
"Again? No. I can try and cook." Rory offered.
"No. I like not having food poisoning." Finn said, she didn't think he was joking. "I can cook."
"You can cook?" Rory asked genuinely surprised.
"I can cook." Finn nodded smiling.
"Then why have you never cooked for me? You have hidden talents Mr Morgan." Rory smiled up at him.
"Cook I shall then." Finn said.
"Do you know jail isn't that bad. Except when it's time to shower. That can get dicey. Do you know what they do to you in the shower? Do you know how it feels Rory?" Marty asked.
Rory felt Finn tense further and she held onto his hand tighter. They were almost there.
"How about I cook you Paella?"
"Fancy!" Rory said, trying to keep any fear she was feeling from her voice.
"Paella it is." Finn said.
"I'll get dessert." Rory said.
"I think you're supposed to be the dessert." Marty added. "That's what I'd have for dessert anyway."
"I've got to help Colin build the furniture later." Finn's voice was tighter than ever.
"Can I watch and mock?" Rory asked.
"I didn't expect you to do anything else love." Finn said.
"Oh, I see where we're going. Okay. I'm out. It was good talking to you both though. Rory, I'll be seeing you soon." Marty said and he was gone.
"We're reporting this and then I'm going to kill him." Finn said his teeth clenched together.
"I think that's what he wanted. He wanted to get a rise out of you. I don't know why. Maybe he thinks that you'll snap and attack him so he can press charges?" Rory guessed.
"And that is the only reason he's not on the floor in a pool of his own blood love. He's not as clever as he thinks." Finn said.
They were at the security office.
/\\\/\\\
Finn walked Rory to her next class.
The police would be involved again and another restraining order taken out. Rory was encouraged to carry on as normal.
"Hey?" Finn said stopping Rory just before they hit her class.
"Yeah?" Rory asked looking up.
"I love you." Finn said softly leaning down and kissing her.
"I love you too." Rory said her forehead pressed against his.
"And I really will make you Paella." Finn added not moving.
"And I will really get dessert." Rory said with a small giggle.
"So you said I don't count?" Finn asked.
"Well Lanny had pastry." Rory said.
"Oh well then that makes sense." Finn drawled.
"Lanny is my favourite babysitter. You're not a babysitter. You're my boyfriend. Hence the you don't count comment." Rory explained.
"Go on, get to class. Someone will be here to pick you up." Finn said kissing her again.
This class was blissfully stalker free, and Rory managed to even take some notes.
When she walked out of class it was to see Finn, Lanny, Logan and Robert all waiting.
"Wow." Rory said looking at them.
"I think they're kind of hoping Marty shows up." Finn said by way of explanation.
"We are." Lanny said his face dark.
"Lannys your favourite?" Robert asked. "I'm hurt mother."
"Lanny brings me food." Rory shrugged.
"Wounded. A shot straight to the heart." Robert continued making Rory laugh. She couldn't be too scared with these guys around.
Rory noticed that amid the joking the guys kept looking around and Finn didn't take his arm from around her.
"There they are. Rory and her heard of boys. Or should it be harem of boys? Is harem just for girls? I'm not sure anyway. Off to go have a gang bang with the slut?" Marty asked, coming out from next to the coffee cart.
Finn pulled her out of the way as Lanny lunged for Marty.
"Lanny! Leave it. He's not worth it!" Rory pleaded.
"He can't stalk you if he's in hospital Ror." Lanny said a hand twisted in Marty's shirt. Marty looked like he was trying not to look scared.
"There's another restraining order out. Unless you fancy going back to jail with those friendly guys in the showers I'd really, really recommend you staying the fuck away." Finn said his voice as cold as ice. His eyes flashed with anger. His hand though stayed gentle around her waist.
"Lanny, come on man. He's not worth it." Logan said his voice dripping with distain.
"The thing is guys. My dad, the lawyer, would get me off with a slap on the wrist and a fine that wouldn't dent my net worth. I'm thinking it might just be worth it." Lanny said with a smile.
"Can't argue with that." Robert shrugged.
"All this for her, really? Her pussy made of gold?" Marty asked.
It happened so quickly. Lanny's fist pulled back and suddenly there was blood and yelling and Finn was pushing her behind him. "Stay there!" Finn yelled at her jumping into the fight.
Rory stood by watching with wide eyes as everything happened so quickly.
As there was a flash of metal. As a grunt rang out. As screams wrenched the air. As Rory ran forward not realising what she was doing.
Logan had Marty face down on the floor. His arm that had held the knife limp.
Rory was next to Lanny, his nose bloody, his lip fat.
She was helping Robert and crying. She was terrified. She had never been so scared.
She pulled Finn's shirt open to see blood. She realised the screaming was coming from her. The silence became deafening as she stopped screaming.
She breathed as a slick hand grabbed her own. As she wiped blood away to find a small cut. Superficial but bleeding a lot.
"Oh god Finn." Rory gasped finally looking into his eyes which were focused on her, pain in them but alive and real.
"I'm okay kitten." Finn gasped sitting up.
"Jesus man, bloody hell. Don't do that again." Robert breathed.
"I'm not intending too." Finn chuckled wearily. "I need a drink."
"You need the hospital. We'll get you drunk after we get your drugged." Lanny said.
"That sounds fair." Finn agreed.
"Can I get some help here?" Logan asked as Marty was trying to push him off, the knife not far from him as he struggled.
Rory stood, red hot anger scorching her. He could have killed Finn. He could have killed him.
Rory took a step, raised a foot and stomped. Every guy in the nearby facility flinched. Marty screamed.
"You are a very brave man Finnegan. Much bracer than I." Robert said with a winch.
"She's not normally that violent." Finn said.
"He could have killed you. He was trying to kill you!" Rory said the anger coming flooding back, anger and panic and relief. She went forward again and kicked him in the shin, and again until she was dragged off by strong hands.
"I'm fine kitten. I'm okay. But I'm kind of sore so you need to stop struggling against me. Until later when we're in private anyway." Finn said in her ear.
"Why?" Rory asked stepping calmly back out of Finn's arms. "Why? Why, stalk me, why do all this? You ruined your life for what?" She asked the groaning Marty.
She got no answer. No satisfaction as to why this had happened.
"I just want to know why!?" Rory shouted. "Why the fuck did you do this!?"
"Ror." Robert said quietly.
"Why?" She asked the others. No one had an answer.
Not long after the police arrived with campus security and some paramedics. Rory went with Finn in the ambulance. He was going to need stitches.
As Finn chatted to the paramedics, she rang his dad, who was in Asia and obviously couldn't come. Phineas had been furious and very obviously worried. When she'd finished speaking to him, she rang Josh. Finn should have some family member there and she didn't want to stress Mia out. It was bad for her and the baby.
Josh met them at the hospital, arriving as Finn was being stitched back together. The knife had sliced his chest and also under his arm on his ribs, which she hadn't seen.
"What the hell happened?" Josh asked his face hard and his accent thick.
"Marty attacked Finn with a knife." Rory said quietly not letting go of Finn's hand.
"Where is he?" Josh asked in a low voice.
"He is on his way to surgery." The nurse told them.
"Surgery?" Josh asked.
"Yes, for a ruptured testicle." The nurse said and both men present winced. "How he got it I wouldn't know, and if I did, I'd be obligated to report it to the police. Even if it were for self-defence." The nurse said casually.
"Duly noted. Thanks chick." Finn said wincing as she finished up the stitches.
"Right, I'm all finished here, I'll get your doctor to get you some pamphlets on care for your wounds and we'll get you discharged." The nurse smiled at them all before walking away.
"A ruptured testicle?" Josh asked looking between Finn and Rory.
"He tried to kill Finn." Rory defended herself.
"Was he still armed then?" Josh asked.
"No. He was on the floor; he was trying to get out from under Logan." Rory said, Finn started to sit up wincing again. Josh helped him.
"So you thought he was going for the knife? You were worried for your friend. You wanted him disarmed?" Josh said.
"What? No. I..." Rory started to argue.
"No, Rory, listen. Alright. You too Finn. You might want to record this for your friends." Josh shot Finn a look. "He was struggling under Logan; he was reaching for the knife. You did what you thought you needed to stop him. Isn't that, right?"
"Erm. Yes." Rory nodded.
"Tell me." Josh said urgently.
"I thought he was going for the knife. I was scared. I thought he'd hurt Logan or try to get Finn again. I did what I had too." Rory said hesitantly.
"That's right Sheila." Josh nodded.
"Do I need to call the lawyer?" Finn asked.
"I'll take care of it. You just rest. You're fine." Josh smiled at Finn and gently patted his shoulder. "I'll give you guys a ride back and call our guy. Don't worry about anything Finn."
"Cheers Uncle Josh." Finn said sincerely.
"Thank you." Rory said quietly, should she not have done that? Had she caused more problems? Should she get her own lawyer or pay for the Morgan's? Would she be arrested?
"Hey, buck up. You did good. We got it from here. Alright?" Josh said patting her on the shoulder.
"Okay. Thanks." Rory smiled hesitantly.
"Finn ya mates are waiting. Rory darling, you want to maybe go have a quick chat with them. Make sure they all saw things the same as you?" Josh suggested.
"Erm sure. I'll be right back honey." Rory said giving Finn a quick kiss and leaving the emergency room.
"Rory!?" The boys were all stood in the waiting room in various states of disarray.
"How is he?" Robert asked.
"He's fine, he'll be discharged soon. He's had thirty stitches though." Rory said the adrenaline starting to wear off. "Marty's on his way to surgery for a ruptured testicle. Josh suggested I might make sure we all saw the same thing happen?"
"Yeah, he was struggling under me." Logan nodded.
"Yeah, I was worried he was going to grab the knife. He could have hurt you or tried to finish what he started with Finn." Rory said eagerly.
"That's what we saw too Ror. You just beat us too it." Robert nodded.
"Yeah, you were the quickest. Very brave." Lanny added.
"Thank you. All of you. If you hadn't been there he would have... Finn..." Rory couldn't say it.
"Hey, it's fine. We were there. Finn's fine. He's had worse than this." Logan said.
"Yeah, you should have seen the state of him after we went white water rafting. He's arm was dangling by his side. It was totally gross." Robert agreed.
"Well... just thanks. Really. I'm going to get back in there. But we probably won't be long." Rory smiled at all of them before going back to Finn and Josh.
/\\\/\\\
Josh waited till Finn's Sheila was gone before he turned to Finn.
"Are you alright, truly?" Josh asked seriously.
"I am. I was bloody scared though. She thinks he was going for me." Finn said pushing hair off his face, his hands were shaking.
"He wasn't?" Josh asked surprised.
"Nah. He wasn't." Finn shook his head.
"He was going for ya Sheila?" Josh asked.
"Yeah, we were just a means to an end. Have a reason to pull the knife. Less jail time I'd guess." Finn said wincing again as he tried to shrug his shirt back on. Josh helped him swallowing down the anger and worry he felt.
"You sure you're, okay?" Josh asked.
"I'm fine." Finn said his voice shaking.
"Come here." Josh pulled his nephew into a hug and held him as he shook.
"I was scared." Finn said quietly.
"Well yeah, you were stabbed. I'd think there was something wrong with you if you weren't." Josh chuckled.
"I was scared for her. Scared I wasn't going to stop him." Finn said shaking his head.
"You did mate. You did. You're both alright." Josh said, as much to reassure himself as his nephew.
"Yeah." Finn nodded. "How much trouble is this going to bring?"
"I told you not to worry about that I'll take care of it." Josh said.
"I need to know or I am going to worry." Finn insisted.
"He could press charges. There'll probably be a court case. It will come out as self-defence, she was in shock, she was scared. It'll be okay. I will sort it." Josh said seriously. He would sort it, he wouldn't let Finn's Sheila take the heat for this, she'd shown... maybe not balls... strength of character might be a better choice of words. "Your mates will back her up?"
"Yeah, they will, they're good blokes." Finn said.
"I'll say." Josh nodded. He was going to have to ring Phineas and fill him in.
Josh looked up as Rory came back in, her eyes only for Finn, the worry plain to see in them.
"Everyone's glad you're okay honey. They're all waiting for you to be discharged." Rory said her hand pushing the hair out of Finn's eyes gently.
"Hey guys. I'm going to call your dad and let him know what's going on while you're waiting to be discharged." Josh said, happy to leave Finn with Rory. She'd come get him if need be. He was grateful she'd rang him at all, that she'd thought to have someone else there with him.
Josh went outside the hospital and pulled out his phone.
"How is he?" Phineas answered the phone.
"He's going to have some fantastic scars, but he's okay. It's mostly superficial." Josh said pulling a hand down his face.
"You're sure?" Phineas said a sigh following.
"Yes, I'm sure." Josh said. "There might be a problem though."
"What, you said he was okay?" Phineas said.
"He is. I promise. Chillax. It's Rory." Josh said.
"She was hurt? She didn't say anything?" Phineas said sounding just as worried.
"She's fine. She put the other guy in surgery." Josh said.
"Good." Phineas growled.
"Yeah, I know good on her right. But he was restrained at the time." Josh said quietly making sure no one round could hear him.
"Fuck. You can call the lawyer, right?" Phineas asked. "We're waiting on the plane, but you can handle it till we get there, right?"
"I'm insulted Phinney." Josh chuckled.
"Are the police there yet?" Phineas asked. "Also you call me that again I'm kicking your arse."
"Not yet. And I'd like to see you try. You've gone soft." Josh said with a laugh.
"I wouldn't try me right now Josh. My son is in the hospital, my daughter in law could be facing charges. I really wouldn't try it now." Phineas said his voice hard.
"Daughter in law? Have I missed the wedding, cause if my invitation got lost I'm going to be mighty pissed off." Josh asked taken aback.
"Give it a rest Josh, you know it's coming. She's as good as." Phineas barked, obviously not having much patience right then.
"I'll give ya that one. If they're not hitched in the next two years, I'll wrestle a roo." Josh chuckled.
"So you can ring Timothy right?" Phineas said. "And add it to our account before she gets it into her head to pay or hire her own lawyer."
"I'll sort it."
"Thank you, Josh."
"Sure, we're family ain't we?" Josh asked. "Apparently all of us."
/\\\/\\\
The police arrived as they were leaving. They took Finn's statement, then Rory's, they then went to speak to the guys in the waiting room. They'd have to wait a while longer to get Marty's statement.
They spoke with Rory separately from Finn. Josh had asked to be present and she took a lot of comfort from him being there.
"So Mr Huntzberger had restrained Mr Thompson. What happened then?" One police man asked taking notes in a notepad.
"Erm, I checked Finn out. I thought... I..." Rory stopped and swallowed the lump in her throat. "Sorry." She said shakily.
"It's alright, take your time." The officer said compassionately.
"Robert, Lanny and me we checked over Finn and then Logan shouted, Marty was shaking him off and he was... he was going for the knife... and... I stood and I was scared... I thought he was going to hurt Logan and go for Finn again... so I kicked him in the testicles. I just wanted to stop him. I just wanted to stop him hurting anyone else." Rory said her voice rising, Josh laid a hand on her shoulder and she flinched for a second. He squeezed it gently and Rory stopped speaking.
"So he was going for the knife? He was reaching for the knife?" The policeman asked.
"Yes." Rory said firmly, her heart beating. He could have been. He might have been.
"You're sure?" The policeman asked again.
"I think so... it's all... it all happened so fast?" Rory said, Josh squeezed her shoulder gently again.
"Okay. That's all for now. We'll get Mr Thompson's statement and be back in touch." The policeman said.
"Back in touch? Rory's not in any trouble, is she?" Josh asked, his voice heavily accented and drawling.
"I couldn't say right now sir." The policeman said seriously.
"I was... do I need a lawyer?" Rory asked tears springing to her eyes.
"Not right now ma'am. But it couldn't help to have one on retainer." The policeman nodded at her before they left.
"God. I need to get a lawyer. How do I know who's a good lawyer? Do they have a rating system?" Rory asked freaking out a little.
"It's taken care of Rory, don't worry." Josh said his voice back to normal. "You did really well there chick. Do not worry."
"What do you mean it's taken care of?" Rory asked.
"We've sorted it. You've got our lawyer and it's already been put on our account and you can't argue because Phineas is scary right now. I wouldn't argue with him and I'm not scared of shit." Josh said.
"I don't know what to say." Rory said confused and a bit scared.
"Then don't say anything. Let's just go get Finn, yeah? Get you guys home." Josh said his hand still on her shoulder as he led her back towards Finn.
/\\\/\\\
That night Finn shot awake gasping for air. He turned to see Rory sleeping next to him and he couldn't help it. He ignored the pain in his chest, the burning in his ribs and he ran his hands over her, checked to make sure she was breathing. Letting out a chocked sob as he found her fine, alive. Marty had never got past him. Marty had never hurt her. He'd never laid a finger on her.
"Finn?" Rory asked her voice full of sleep.
"Go back to sleep love." He said.
"Are you okay, is it hurting?" She asked sitting up.
"I'm fine kitten." Finn said pulling her to him and burying his face in her hair.
"Finn?" She said.
"I'm okay." Finn said kissing her hair.
He lent down to kiss her, she was alive, she was perfect, she was safe.
Rory kissed him back softly, her lips opening to deepen the kiss. Finn eagerly complied. Moaning as she nibbled his bottom lip with her teeth. His hand reached out and cupped her face as he gently laid her down.
Rory kissed the side of his face and then his collar bone, his chest. Her tongue darting out to taste him, again he moaned.
His hands swept her perfect, unblemished skin. Her hips, her smooth stomach, her perfect, perky breasts.
She opened her legs for him and his hand drifted down. Capturing the gasp she let slip with his mouth.
She was ready and so was he.
He was moving on top of her slowly, gently, loving her. Her eyes caught him in their gaze and he couldn't look away as he worshipped her and she loved him back. He didn't look away even as she called out and her eyes rolled back in her head, her plump lips chanting his name like a prayer.
She moved against him, a dance, a soft slow dance, to the song of their voices, their moans.
He watched as she came undone again and followed her gladly. Her name ringing out from his lips.
Finally spent he laid down next to her and held her close as better dreams took them both away.
