Horizon: I wrote this on Easter. But that's probably pretty obvious. Also, I wanted to thank the people that've been leaving reviews :)

Miyu could usually stay pretty calm while she was working at the udon shop. Even when they had a huge crowd of customers and orders were flooding into the kitchen. There was something meditative about chopping vegetables and filling bowls with steaming broth. It was also better than staying cooped up in her hotel room until Sonic came back.

If he can find a cure, should I even try it? She brushed a stray lock of pink hair away from her face, frowning at the bowl of udon she just put together. Miyu remembered what Garou said the previous day. About how she shouldn't care about people disliking her if she became a monster. About how he liked her just the way she was.

Color rushed to her face and a corner of her lips lifted into a half-smile. When she thought back to what he said, she felt a stirring in her chest. A fluttery, almost giddy, feeling that made her unable to frown. He liked her just the way she was; with all of her faults, without expecting anything from her except that she just be herself around him.

"What's that thing?" Her boss's voice reached her ears, coming from the front of the shop. A second after he spoke, the girl's vision turned red in her left eye. "Where'd you find it?"

"I think it's an egg? I found it near the trash behind my shop. What do you think of it? Doesn't look like a chicken or a duck egg. I've never seen one this color before." That was the voice of the woman that owned the sweets shop next door.

"Should we crack it open?"

"Hold on. There's a noise. Do you hear that?"

Miyu's eyes widened and she stepped away from the counter. She approached the doorway to the kitchen area and peered out to where the two shop owners were sitting at a table. Perched on the surface was what looked like an egg, but it was bigger than a chicken egg and it wasn't white. This egg was a weird, cotton candy pink color.

Her nose twitched as she picked up on a sickly sweet aroma in the air and she ventured out of the kitchen, picking up on the sound. It seemed like neither of the shop owners could hear it as loudly as she could, but to Miyu it sounded like a heartbeat. She approached the table with caution, her eyes focused on the egg.

"Oh! Usagi, great timing! Have you ever seen something like this?" Her boss nodded down at the egg as it began to visibly pulse. With each pulse, it seemed to grow just a little. Every beat making it grow larger. "Do you think this is a monster egg or something?" he joked, chortling.

"You…don't smell that?" she questioned, watching as the egg jumped a little.

"What? What do you smell?" The sweet shop owner jolted as the egg started to roll toward her. It was a little bigger than a chicken egg when Miyu first saw it, but now it was it closer to the size of an ostrich egg. There was a faint, pink glow at its center that was steadily getting brighter.

"It's sweet." Miyu kept her eyes on the egg and when she saw the glow intensify, her movements were directed by her gut instinct. The girl's hand swept the egg off the table and against the wall, hard. It struck the solid surface and burst, flashing bright pink and almost blinding them. The sweet scent grew almost nauseating.

"Why did you-?"

"What the hell is that thing?!" Her boss stood so quickly that his chair fell backwards.

Her pulse was already starting to accelerate, but it only got worse when she saw what came out of the egg. It looked like a pink, sparsely-feathered chick, but it was the height of a small dog. Shiny grey flesh where the feathers failed to cover it, a blood-red beak filled with row upon row of razor-sharp teeth. Four legs that ended in four claws each as well as a pair of wings that flapped powerfully as it shrieked and prepared to lunge.

"Get to the kitchen! I'll take care of this!" Miyu rushed toward the creature; not giving her boss a chance to try to fight the monster. What is this thing?! Is it a monster? It just hatched so is it a baby? Can I reason with it?

The feathery fiend threw its head back and roared before releasing a burst of fire from its mouth. She closed the distance between them before it could set the shop ablaze and gripped its beak with both hands, forcing it closed to stop the flames. Miyu glanced toward the kitchen to see her boss trying to evacuate the people left in the shop.

It thrashed in her grip, clawed legs kicking and wings flapping as it tried to free itself. She held on tightly and managed to get her legs around it to immobilize the monster. The beak was getting hot and the sweet smell coming off of it made her stomach turn, but she gritted her teeth and refused to let go.

How am I going to get this thing to stop?! It's going to burn down the shop! It just hatched so it's not technically like other monsters, is it? This was born a monster; it wasn't a human before! But it's just a baby! I can't hurt it! I can't-!

Miyu's red and gold eyes widened as she felt its body expanding in her arms. It was blowing up like a balloon being inflated and it was fighting against her even harder. Before she could even think to release it, the monstrous chick popped. The body came apart in pieces that smelled like burnt fruity sugar and she blinked down at the gooey pink mess it left on her arms and clothes. It looked like the thing had been full of strawberry jelly candy.

She glanced toward the kitchen, but the whole shop had gone silent. It seemed like everyone managed to evacuate before the monster popped. She was still a little shocked by how the struggle ended, but she did her best to shake it off. Miyu pushed herself to stand and tried to wipe away the pink goop until she was interrupted.

"Pink Bunny." The sound of Genos saying such a ridiculous hero name almost made her snort until she saw the pastel blue jelly clinging to his metal arms and clothes. He was leaning in through the front door of the shop, his gold and black eyes narrowing when he saw the mess on her uniform. "I see."

"It was an egg, right?" she questioned.

"Yes. I was running errands for Master Saitama in this area and saw some children playing with a strange egg. It began to pulse and I saw that it was getting bigger so I asked the children to give it to me. When they gave it to me, I could see a heat signature inside of it and it was becoming hotter as it grew. It exploded when it reached the size of a watermelon and a lamb with eight legs came out of it. I was able to stop it from burning down the supermarket, but it-"

"Popped and it was full of jelly candy." Miyu had no problem with interrupting his rambling story. She saw the cyborg nod, but it wasn't really necessary since he was covered in the stuff. "There might be more of them. I'm going to-"

"I'm going to search the area, but I will need your help with reaching any that are in tight spots. My body lacks the flexibility and shortness needed to fit into small spaces."

Shortness? I'm not that short…am I? She just nodded and crossed the shop to join him. "Where should we start?"

The girl tried to keep herself calm during the hunt for the rest of the eggs. Thankfully, most of the ones they found were still small so Genos was able to incinerate and destroy them quickly. The ones that did hatch held monstrous chicks and lambs that he destroyed without hesitation. Miyu felt guilty about the way they were handling the situation. These were monsters by birth, but they were still babies. She was sure it was just the monster part of her that made her feel like this, but part of her wanted to take them to safety.

Miyu traveled around the neighborhood alongside Genos, being a second set of eyes to search for eggs. A lot of them were out in the open where he could get them himself, but there were a few that only the girl could reach. She was waiting for him to finish clearing out a small nest of them in the corner of an alley when her eyes settled on something shiny up above on the edge of the roof.

Tilting her head, she narrowed her eyes to try to get a better look. As she did, there was a feeling in her gut. A powerful urge that made her tense her legs before leaping up. Miyu timed it just right; she managed to catch the egg just as it rolled over the edge.

It was smaller than any of the others and it smelled like black licorice. None of the others had been in such a precarious position so she wondered if there was something wrong with this one and whatever laid the eggs knew it. The color was different from all the others. Where the other eggs were soft pastel colors or white, this one was black with red speckles that almost looked like blood.

She stared down at it and an odd sensation settled over her. A certain kind of sadness, pity. Is this one…? It isn't dead, is it? It's not making any noise like the other ones. And it's so cold. It feels like stone, but it's really light.

Landing on the ground, her eyes lifted to where Genos was trying to wedge himself into a narrow passage that opened in the side of the alley. "Genos? Do you need help?" Without thinking about it, Miyu tucked the little egg into her pocket and jogged over to where the cyborg hero was.

He continued to stubbornly try to reach the egg, but his body was too wide to fit. Finally, his phone rang to interrupt him. Genos pulled away from the passage to check his phone and his frustrated frown faltered. "It's Master Saitama. Pink Bunny, I am going to take this call. Collect that egg and bring it to me for destruction. I'm sure that we have almost all of them collected. I need to discover the source of these monster eggs and eliminate it before it can lay more of them."

"I'm on it." Miyu slipped into the passageway easily and grabbed the lavender egg just as it started to pulse. What's laying these eggs? The ones that hatched had chicks and lambs. What kind of thing gives birth to both of those things? And why did it lay them around here? Did it think they would be safe or was it planning to swarm the area to drive out the humans?

She looked away as she handed over the lavender egg, deciding to focus on wiping the jelly candy off the front of her shirt. "Saitama-san's alright?"

"Of course. Why would you doubt that my master is alright?" he scoffed, crushing this egg in his palm. Gooey jelly ran between his metal fingers and splattered the ground as he walked toward the exit with her. "Master Saitama wants me to pick up ice cream before I return. This was not on the grocery list when I left."

So…he just finished it off? Miyu used the clean back of her hand to push strands of long pink hair away from her face, grimacing at the feeling of jelly in her hair. "How are we going to find what laid these?"

"I suspect that the monster is near here. The last egg was only in the early stages of hatching and the heat signature was faint. It was freshly laid. I will scan the area for anything abnormal. Stay here."

She was left standing on the ground below when he used his boosters to become airborne. The girl wanted to finish this soon so she could get back to the shop and see if everyone was alright. She wanted to apologize to her boss for acting so rashly by swatting the first egg off the table.

Miyu was yanked out of her thoughts when Genos gripped the back of her uniform shirt and leapt onto the rooftop, taking her with him. She bit back a yelp and when her feet were firmly on the ledge of the roof, she looked down at what Genos found. It made her stomach clench.

This was unsettling, even by monster standards. A large, rounded body with a multitude of tentacles sprouting off it. The body was pure white and the tentacles were striped with various shades of pastel colors. It almost looked like the main part of the body was an egg, but it had pointed rabbit ears on the top of its head and a face. The mouth was huge and filled with pointed teeth when it opened, the eyes were bright blue and narrowed maliciously, the nose was actually kind of cute and it was pink.

"This is the source of the eggs," Genos stated without hesitation. "It looks like we caught it during a break. We need to eliminate it before it can lay more eggs in this area."

Why…does it have rabbit ears? She stared down at it with wide eyes, the vision in her left eye bright red. Rabbit ears. Why? Why?! The girl dodged back as a few writhing tentacles darted up at her and Genos; stretching far and almost as if they had no bones. Like they were full of jelly.

Miyu managed to dodge them, but a few latched onto the cyborg's arms and tugged him closer to the edge. She saw him digging the heels of his shoes into the rooftop, causing him to drag and slowing the progression. The girl could see him struggling to try to wrench free, saw his palms lighting up as he prepared to burn the mother monster, and something in her clicked.

She wrapped her arms around both pastel-striped tentacles and pulled, biting into the inside of her cheek as she did. "Come…on! You have to let go of him! Please!" she begged, casting a glance toward the monster. I don't want you to die, but if you push him then he'll kill you! Please just let go of him!

It tightened its hold and tugged harder, throwing Genos forward against Miyu and almost knocking her into the alley. She hated to do it this way, but her instincts directed her movements again. An arm wrapped around the cyborg's neck to keep her steady and she hooked a leg around one of the tentacles to use her weight as leverage to make the monster let go. Thankfully, this tactic worked. The suction released and the limb slithered down into the alley.

"Pink Bunny, move to the side so I can eliminate this monster!" Genos ordered. His freed arm reached around her and gripped the back of her shirt; ready to forcefully move her if he had to.

"She's pregnant!" Miyu argued, hoping the monster would release his other arm from its grip and escape while it had the chance.

"This monster will create more monsters and leave its eggs around the city!"

"Please! Just…back…off!" The girl's leg swung and her knee slammed into his midsection, connecting with hard metal. The monster released him as she did this and Genos was sent skidding backwards over the roof. How?! He's made of metal! How did I actually knock him back? And that definitely should've hurt me, right?

Miyu kept her eyes locked on him, standing at the edge of the roof with her back to the monster. Her nose twitched at the overwhelmingly sweet smell behind her. There was a feeling at the tips of her ears; they were itching and aching a little. She was vaguely aware of how the muscles around her lower back spasmed and throbbed.

I have to protect her! Miyu gritted her teeth as she lowered into a defensive position, her fingertips started to feel like they were burning. All thoughts of staying calm to slow her monster progression were gone and replaced with the need to protect the pregnant monster in the alley. I can't let her die! She just wanted her babies to be born somewhere safe!

"Pink Bunny, you are a Class A hero and are expected to protect civilians from monsters. It is your job as a hero to help to eliminate threats. If you refuse to let me do this, I will take you out along with the monster," Genos warned.

"She doesn't have to die," she argued. "Call the Hero Association and have someone pick her up. Just don't kill her."

"You have seen firsthand what its eggs have inside. If this monster continues to lay eggs, it will endanger the Hero Association as well as the general public. Master Saitama would agree with me that-"

"Huh? I'd what?" Saitama appeared beside him, tilting his head. "What's going on? Oh! Are you and Miyu sparring?"

"Genos wants to kill a pregnant monster!" Miyu blurted out.

"I am eliminating a threat," he protested.

"Pregnant?" The bald hero raised an eyebrow and crossed the rooftop to Miyu's side. He looked down over the edge at the monster, who had shrunk back against the far wall of the alley. Saitama tilted his head and lifted a hand in greeting. "Hey."

The girl kept her eyes on Genos, but turned her head slightly. "She just wanted to lay her eggs in peace, but he-"

"Oh. So that's what was taking so long. You guys were on a treasure hunt for eggs, right?" He turned to Miyu with a blank face. "You should've told me. Sounds like a fun time. Kind of like a game."

"Master Saitama, this is a serious situation. The monster's eggs contain monsters capable of mass destruction. Pink Bunny is sympathizing with the monster and trying to stop me from eliminating the threat," Genos explained.

"Huh? Pink Bunny?" Saitama's expression changed very slightly, but it was clear he was amused. "That's your hero name? That's hilarious." Her face flushed red and she was about to argue, but he cut her off as soon as she opened her mouth. "Oops. Looks like the monster got away."

"What?!" Both of the younger heroes looked over the edge and the monster had vanished. That was when they both realized it at the same time; Saitama had been stalling.

"Oh well. She's probably done for a while, right? You can always hunt for eggs tomorrow, Genos. Come on. I want to get some food since I came all this way. Miyu, is the udon shop still open?"

It never ceased to amaze her how unpredictable Saitama was. The fact that he would actually stall to let the monster escape. It made her wonder if he sympathized or if he just didn't think the monster was that big of a threat. Whatever the reason, now it was free to find a better place to give birth.

Miyu returned to the hotel feeling exhausted. She trudged up the stairs, rubbing at her right ear and frowning. It was longer than before and the point at the tip was even more pronounced now. On top of that, her fingertips were feeling itchy and her lower back ached.

She found Garou sitting on the floor near her door and she managed a timid smile. Trying not to think about the blush rising to her face. "You wouldn't believe the day I had," she started.

"Yeah? What kind of fight was it?" He grinned and pushed himself to stand. The pale-haired young man slipped his hands into his pockets and leaned down to her eye level. "You got in a fight, right?" he asked, looking her up and down.

"I…almost fought the Demon Cyborg today. I'll have to tell you-" She went silent. Miyu was rummaging in her pocket for her keys, but her fingertips made contact with something cold and smooth. She pulled out the black and red egg and held it up, her head tilting. She had forgotten she had it in her pocket.

Garou tilted his head as well, looking at the egg with an eyebrow quirked. "What is that?"
