Chapter 31, enjoy!

"We are leaving," Tami announced into her home before she and Eric left for their Saturday night date.

"Bye," Julie, Jason, and Gracie echoed from the living room.

"Gracie, don't stay up too late," Tami warned.

"I won't," Gracie replied. After getting a response from Gracie, Tami followed Eric out to their vehicle.

"So where are we going?" Tami asked Eric once they were on their way out of the gated community.

"That fancy Italian place you really like," He answered with a smile.

"I love you Eric Taylor," She responded as she took his hand that was rested in the console in hers.

"So, I couldn't help but notice not everyone was on the field last night," She stated later on in their drive. "What was that about?"

"I told them if they weren't serious about playing football then they needed to leave," He explained. "But do we have to talk about this now?"

"I guess not, I just wanted to see what that was all about."

"I think we all know why we decided to have this meeting," Buddy started. "I have been told by several people in the community that they are displeased with Coach Barnett. So that is our agenda this meeting," He told the boosters.

"Dillon is really loosing all of it's dedicated football fans," A member of the boosters stated.

"I think all of us that attend games are aware of that, and that is why we need to do something," Buddy replied.

"So I vote we fire him," Another member of the boosters spoke up.

"I think we would all like that, but it's not that simple. If we want him fired this season, we need to go to the school board and administration with a replacement. They aren't going to want to fire him in the middle of the season, unless we have a replacement."

"So why can't we just get Eric Taylor back down here to Texas?" A member stated.

"I don't think getting Coach Taylor back will be that easy," Buddy replied.

"I've been keeping up with that new team he's been coaching and they don't have near the talent we have," The member told the group. "I'm sure he'd want to come back and coach these boys that are 10 times more talented than those so-called football players he is coaching now."

"I guess I could call him and test the waters, and if he doesn't want to come back then he might be able to give us some suggestions," Buddy decided. "I will call him and get back with all of you when I hear something."

"I'm going to bed," Gracie announced a short while after her parents left.

"But we haven't finished the movie yet," Julie replied.

"I know, I'm just really tired," Gracie responded.

"Ok, good night then," Julie said as Gracie made her way to her bedroom.

Jason and Julie chatted amongst themselves while Gracie walked into her bedroom and shut her door. She slipped on a sweatshirt to keep out the chilly, fall Pennsylvania air. Then, she slid her window opened and climbed out, falling into a bush.

"Shoot," She mumbled as the bush rattled, she hoped Jason and Julie were too busy talking and the movie was too loud for them to hear her.

In the living room, Jason had paused the movie so he and Julie could talk without missing scenes.

"Did you hear that?" He asked when a bush rustled.

"Yeah, it's probably just the wind," Julie replied, thinking nothing of it.

Outside the house, Gracie tip toed to the street where her friend was waiting with the headlights of her car turned off. She walked around to the passenger seat and climbed in.

"So what are you going to do about getting your divorce?" Julie asked Jason in the living room. "Wait, that's really none of my business. Sorry," She quickly apologized.

"No, it's fine. I don't really know. My parents have a good lawyer I might use, but I'm not sure yet," He replied.

"Are your parents still living in Dillon?" Julie questioned.

"Yeah, they still living in the same house they did when I was in high school," Jason responded.

"Not much changes in that small town," Julie replied.

"You know, I should probably go visit them, they don't really know about Erin and I. And that way I could meet with their lawyer."

"You didn't tell them?"

"Well, they know we were having problems, but they don't know I moved out or that Noah isn't mine."

"Oh. I wonder if anyone is Dillon knows about Matt and I yet," Julie thought out loud.
