Previous chapter: Jasper - JPOV

Bella squeezes my hand tightly as Jane stomps her foot and yells: "Alec, move! She tried to hurt mom. She's going to pay for that."

Alec shakes his head vigorously and says: "No, I can feel that she never truly wanted to hurt mom. She was forced to come. I won't let you hurt her. She's my mate."

Jasper - JPOV

I send Alec a burst of pride as he stands tall to protect the tiny girl behind him and give him an approving smile as his eyes briefly flick my way. Caius and Jane take a few tentative steps back, and Bella sighs relieved as Alec visually relaxes. She gives him one of her loving smiles, and Alec's face lights up as she says: "Alec, sweetie, will you let Bree introduce herself? I would love to meet the girl that captured my boy's heart."

Alec nods and turns to look at the girl behind him. I can feel the fear and confusion that flows through her and send her a burst of trust and confidence. Alec leans down to whisper in her ear, and she gives him a shy smile as she moves to stand next to him. She slips her hand in Alec's as she takes a deep, unneeded breath and says: "I'm Bree Tanner. I used to live in Seattle with my parents and my brother. Riley ambushed me when I was walking home from school. I tried to fight him, but it was no use. I never asked for this to happen…"

A loud sob escapes her, and Alec pulls her close for a hug. I smile as Bella rushes toward them and wraps them both in her arms as she whispers: "I know, honey. Not many of us ask for this life. You were brought into this life for all the wrong reasons. But I promise you that everything will be okay from now on."

Bella - BPOV

I smile as I take a step back to look at my son and my new daughter-in-law. They are both still so young, but I can see the connection between the two of them so clearly. It's like they gravitate toward each other. A huff from Jane pulls my attention back to the rest of our group, and I open my arms as I notice the worry on Jane's face. She runs straight into them and lets out a soft sob. Jasper looks rather worried as he moves toward us and places his hand on Jane's shoulder as he whispers: "What's wrong, Janie?"

Jane looks at him with tear-filled eyes and shakes her head, not wanting to answer. I place a loving kiss on her head and say: "Your dad can feel that something's wrong. Talk to us, sweetie."

Jane looks at the ground as she whispers so softly that I would have missed it completely if I wasn't a vampire. "Will Alec love me less, now that he has found his mate?"

Jasper lets out a relieved sigh knowing that nothing major is wrong, and I shake my head with a small smile on my lips as I say: "Of course not, sweetie, you're his sister. He will always love you. There's more than enough room in his heart for the both of you."

Jane squeaks in surprise as Alec lifts her into the air. He shakes his head as he puts her back down and says: "Mom is right, Jane. You're my sister; you're my blood. I love you, always have, and always will. Are you happy for me?"

Jane nods vigorously as she says: "Of course, I am. I can't believe you finally found her. I know we both gave up hope of ever finding our true mate centuries ago, so I couldn't be happier. I love you, Alec."

Alec smiles brightly as he gives his sister another hug and says: "I love you too, sis." He moves back to stand next to Bree as Caius clears his throat and says: "Did Victoria inform you of our laws?"

Bree nods and says: "Yes, she told us that it was against the law to separate true mates. She told us that Bella had to die because she was responsible for James's death. I didn't want to have any part in all of this, but Victoria had a way to convince people to join her cause."

Jasper – JPOV

The sudden sadness that fills her startles me, and I lift my hand to interrupt Caius's next question and say: "How did she convince you?'

Venom tears pool in her eyes as she leans her head against Alec's shoulder, and she closes her eyes as she says: "Victoria showed me pictures of my brother, Michael, and told me that she knew just where to find him. She made it very clear that she was going to kill him if I didn't help her. I couldn't bear the thought of my brother dying, so I agreed to help her. I shouldn't have trusted her for a second.

Two days ago, she returned from one of her runs with a changing Michael in her arms. She gave him his own room and looked after him personally, and I realized that she was hoping for him to be gifted like me. She wouldn't let me see him, no matter how hard I pleaded. I decided to wait for the perfect moment to escape, together with my brother.

Victoria received a phone call this morning that made her blow a fuse. She ordered us to move out immediately. My brother is still at the warehouse. Can we please go and help him?" Bree stares at us with a pleading look upon her face. Caius gives her an affirmative nod as he says: "We can't risk him waking up without another vampire present. He is a threat to the secret if we don't reach him in time. Guard, you're with me. Bella, piccola, go home with your coven. You're safe now. We will come and say goodbye before we return to Volterra."

Bella nods and leans back into my arms as the Volturi follow Bree to the warehouse in Spokane. I kiss the top of her head and smile as Char says: "Let's go home, lovebirds. I want to show my man a good time." Bella giggles as Char slaps Peter's ass and turns to kiss me passionately. Peter growls as he pulls Char closer, and says: "I'll show you a good time, woman."

A sudden sound in the distance makes us look at the forest, and I raise my brow questioningly as Peter sighs heavily. He huffs as he says: "So-called family incoming in five… four…" I snicker as I recognize the emotional signature of Emmett and Rose. Bella looks between Peter and I for an answer, but her question gets interrupted by Emmett as he runs onto the military base and shouts: "Dammit, Rosie, we missed all the fun."

I smile as Bella lets out a shriek and launches herself into Emmett's arms. Emmett lets out a loud laugh as he spins her around and says: "What's up, Bella Boo? Miss me?"

Bella - BPOV

Emmett! I giggle at his words as he spins me around. God, I missed my big bear of a brother. I give him another big hug as he puts me down, and say: "I'm so glad you're here! I can't wait to show you the house. You're going to love it!"

Emmett slings his arm around my shoulder and says: "Lead the way, sis. I can imagine we have some major catching up to do."

Jasper nods as he moves to greet Emmett and Rose and says: "That we have. Come on, darlin'. It's time to go home." I smile brightly and slip my hand in Jasper's as we start our run back to the house. Emmett whistles, as the house comes into view and yells: "Damn, bro, nice house. It's exactly what I would have bought for Bella if I had to pick a house. I can see why you never told us. Alice would have hated it."

Peter snorts at Emmett's words as we enter the house, and says: "She hated it, all right. She wasn't around long enough to learn to appreciate it though." Rose turns to look at him, and I can feel the tension in the room rising as she tries to figure out the double meaning of his words. Jasper motions everyone to take a seat in the living room and pulls me close as I plop down next to him on the couch.

Jasper – JPOV

I can feel Rose's impatience and wariness as she moves to sit next to Emmett. I take a deep unneeded breath as I pull Bella closer and say: "I meant it when I told you that we had this conversation in person. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything, Rose. You're not going to like certain parts of the story, and I know you well enough to realize that you're going to be pissed as hell when the story is done, but what is done is done."

Rose nods as Emmett grabs her hand and pulls her closer. He kisses the top of her head and gives me a nod as well. I keep a close tab on their feelings as I tell them everything that has happened over the last few days. They don't interrupt me once, for which I'm grateful. Bella squeezes my hand as I reach the end of the story with the news that our son found his mate, and I kiss the top of her head as we wait for Rose and Emmett to react.

Emmett is the first to break the silence. He lets out a big sigh and says: "I don't even know how to react to all this. They lied to us for decades. How the fuck, didn't we notice?" Rose shakes her head as she looks at Emmett and says: "If Jasper didn't even pick up on it with his gift, how were we to notice? We lived a lie, and I'm never going to forgive Carlisle for this. How could he do this to Edward? I know he is a pain in the ass most of the time, but no one deserves to be treated like that. I wonder if he would talk to me if I called."

Emmett kisses the top of her head as he says: "I bet he would love to hear from you, Rosie. Edward might be annoying most of the time, but he's loyal to a fault. That's what got him into this mess in the first place. Maybe we can even go and visit him in Europe. It's been a while since we've been overseas. I bet Jasper and Bella will join us on our trip to Volterra if we wait a few months, seeing her children and father live there. Bella, what were you thinking when you picked the witch twins as your children?"

A sudden growl fills the room, and I stare lustfully at my mate as she stalks toward Emmett and says: "What did you call my children, Emmett?"

Emmett looks at me with a pleading look and whispers: "A little help here, Jasper?"

I shake my head and snicker as I say: "You're on your own here, Emmett. You should know better than to anger a newborn, and you just insulted her children. I would run if I were you."
