The sound of the mowers startled Ianto from his sandwich cutting and he looked up as the first mower shot from the garage out across the field to the far gate that would lead along a path to the village and some old biddies in need of trimmed lawns. Ton sitting high with the deer stalker hat shoved over his ears.
Then another one followed, larger and more intimidating as Jack sat at the controls with a look of glee… Hawk on his lap. What? Ianto slammed down the knife as a rule was broken. One of those rules made before Jack was EVER allowed his first ride on mower. You know? The 'I Shalt Not Nurse a Child in my Lap' one? Ton the only child to EVER be allowed to accompany his father as he learned to drive one for himself. Their arguments on that petering out as they discovered Ton had a bent for freshly cut grass.
"I know" a voice sighed and he turned to find Angel in the kitchen, a little fluff on her head like a hat as it clung to her top knot of hair "I told him it was a bad idea but you know Dadda."
"Yes darling, I know" Ianto huffed, unable to hide his annoyance. Angel approached and started to open the container of biscuits to place on the plates next to their portion of sandwich, fresh fruit and sinful slice of chocolate cake.
Ianto was coming to the boil and it was not that slow one you put a lobster in… no… it was the volcano one where you yell and scream as you run for your life kinda one. Oh yes… Hawk was causing issues alright and that one… that one was a step too far.
.
.
"But I don't' get it" Jack said for the umpteenth time as Ianto stood tapping his foot to show he was about to throttle him. Jack genuinely thought he had made the right choice there. Then he remembered "ah… the promise. But we broke it with Ton!"
"Amended" Ianto growled low, "Not the same and he was much older!"
"But Hawk is so clever!"
"Why he has his own car to drive, he could have followed in the Kat Mobile and had fun with biddies… but no… you gave in and let him break a rule he knows exists because I made it. Jack… he is forcing you to choose a side. You should not be choosing a side, you are not on a side against me… you are here with me."
"Ah" Jack grimaced, "right. Ah… yes. I ah… little shit. He played me again with those eyes and… Ianto I can't say no… it's … diabolical."
Ianto sighed as he agreed.
This last one seemed to be the devil incarnate.
