Sesshomaru found himself in a strange situation. The human girl, while suspicious in every sense, from her strange dialect to her clothing, had revealed information that shouldn't have leaked from the palace. Information which surrounded his royal family. His father's side of the family.

The name Inuyasha had fallen from her tongue in strange familiarity, and stranger yet, her scent spoke no lies. This woman… human… knew the name and above that, knew of his father's consort. She'd even spoken his name, as though they had met before, but he would have remembered such a face.

But again, her scent spoke of no lies. Why was that? Who was she? And how was she acquainted with his father's companion, Myoga? Sesshomaru needed answers, but his confusion only increased when she inquired about the year.

Ridiculous. What era was this, she asked?

"It's the year 1302 of Emperor InuTaisho's reign of eternal glory, human."

Not a moment after the girl's revelation, she further stupefied him. She had stared at him as though he had spoken out of line, incoherent words slipping past her lips. At one point, she had touched her head, and the next, she had fainted in front of him.

What else could he do but simply stare?

The only likely conclusion was sickness. The human wasn't well. Why else would she utter such nonsense? He had every right in his mind to abandon her there, but the knowledge she had spoken previously kept him still.

"Who… is she?"

The knowledge was dangerous and were he to leave her, someone else might use that against his family. Sesshomaru wouldn't allow it. Regardless of his better judgement, he crossed the remaining distance and swept the girl into his arms.

But something in her possession caught his eye, and only after settling her atop A-Un, he unwrapped her fingers, securing the gem. Whatever this jewel was, it possessed an uncanny amount of power. Weak as it was, it only fueled his suspicion.

All the more reason to report back.
