Annabeth continued to paint her toenails as she balanced her phone between her ear and her shoulder. Lemon had found out about Jonah's job offer. She was in full meltdown just ranting away so other than a few well placed 'Uh huh's' and 'You're so right' there wasn't much cause for Annabeth to say too much.

"And to find out from that Zoe Hart of all people" Lemon continued "I don't see why she can't just go back to where she came from and Jonah can come and work with Daddy".

"Well honey it's half her practice, and Jonah is a surgeon, there's not much call for that in Bluebell" She replied patiently "Besides, didn't you two call a cease fire, what with her having Wade's baby and all".

Zoe had told her how Lemon had found her sat in the bathtub eating cookies, falling apart. She was proud of Lemon for being there for Zoe, it showed real growth.

"That was before she kept interrupting my breakfasts with Lavon" Lemon told her.

"Oh sweetheart, you can't get in the way of breakfast at Lavon's, it's not a battle even you can win" She told her sympathetically.

"See you know all about her lack of boundaries and manners" Lemon said.

"Is this weird?" She asked placing the nail polish back on the table "Us talking about issues at Lavon's place?".

"No, it's Bluebell" Lemon told her "And you're my best friend, nothing will change that, I need to talk to you about it, who else would listen to all my crazy talk".

"True" She agreed moving her phone to the other ear.

"Well, you didn't have to agree so quickly" Lemon huffed.

"You know I love you" She replied with a grin.

"Tell me about you" Lemon said, "I need to get my mind off of Jonah's traitorous ways and Zoe Hart and her kitchen invasion".

She thought about pointing out that Jonah wasn't a traitor and that technically Lemon was the one invading the kitchen, but she was smarter than that. Instead, she told her about her two date offers, the CFD gala and her confusion with Kelly.

"And you waited all this time why?" Lemon asked, "We have wasted so much time".

Lemon hadn't let her get a word in since she picked up the phone even though Annabeth had been the one to call her. But she let it slide.

"There's something about Austin, he seems too smooth" She replied "Connor, he's just seen so much of the world, he's a surgeon, I worry about what we would even talk about. With Kelly I just care about him, and he's too darn attractive for his own good, but more than anything I'm just glad we can be friends, it's hard sometimes but I got over Lavon and we were together for a year, what's a few weeks compared to that, or my marriage to Jake".

"First of all, no one is too good for you, you are the most amazing, kind-hearted, funny woman I know" Lemon told her "And second of all, you didn't see them every day and you weren't their friend afterwards, you need to go on that date with Connor".

"That's what I'm getting ready for actually" She said.

"Well why didn't you say so" Lemon practically squealed down the phone "Go and get ready and tell me everything after".

Annabeth said goodbye before hanging up the call. She felt silly for needing it, she was a grown woman, but everyone needed a pep talk every now and then from their best friend. Listening to Lemon rant for a good thirty minutes had been good for her nerves giving her a decent distraction. On the other hand, it meant she was pretty behind with getting dressed.

She had settled on a green wrap top and a green skirt with a pair of statement black drop earrings. She hadn't wanted to go over the top, but she knew it was her colour. Her hair was in curls as always.

She looked down at her phone buzzing on her dressing table. She rolled her eyes expecting to see Lemon calling her back again. She was surprised to find Connor's name flashing on her caller i.d. She was sure she wasn't running late; he had said to meet at the restaurant for 8:30.

"Hello" She said picking up the call.

"I am so sorry" He started "I've been called in to the hospital, we're short staffed, you haven't left, yet have you?".

"No, I haven't" She said taking a seat at the end of her bed.

"I am really sorry; I was looking forward to it" He told her.

"You don't need to apologise" She reassured him "I understand a crazy schedule".

"So, you'd be open to rescheduling with me?" He asked.

"I'm sure that can be arranged" She replied looking at her reflection in the mirror.

She sighed as she placed the phone down. She had gotten herself so worked up with worry at the thought of a date. She wasn't sure if she was more disappointed or relieved that it wasn't going ahead. She was however not ok with being all dressed up with no place to go. Even if that place was just Molly's.

She picked up her coat and purse and ordered an uber on her way to the elevator.
