One Last Gift
There wasn't much time left for her on this earth, but Astoria wanted to make sure that she left her family with something they would treasure together, that would help them remember her and her love for them. It was the least she could do.
It was difficult to pull off being bedridden, but her house-elf Dizzy was a huge help in the arrangement to pay and receive the new brooms. The little elf was even generous enough to wrap and label them. They would find it odd to see gifts that didn't fall on a holiday, but that was the point. She knew she was dying soon, and in her mind it was crucial to give the ones she held most dear to her heart something to ease their grieving even just a little.
To the loves of my life,
I know that life has been cruel and unforgiving to us these past several years, but I want you both to remember that there was far more good that shined through the pain and despair. I have been extremely lucky and blessed to have you both, I wouldn't have asked for anyone else.
Please accept these brooms as my final gifts to you to remember that, even in sadness, there will always be a spark of light to guide you through it.
I love you both so much,
Astoria
Draco read the note he found the evening of Astoria's funeral tucked in with the two gifts she left behind for him and Scorpius. His son sat beside him, reading the note over his arm with a stoic expression. The tears had long since been shed dry. The two carefully opened their respective packages, and Draco nearly dropped his as if it burned him when he saw they were a twin set of Firebolt 42s.
