Well, 3 days down 4 more to go!

Just for a nice switch, this one is about our dear Guardian of Fun and none other than the lovely Emily Jane Pitchiner.

Once again, no proofreading (but hey, what's new) so excuse any errors or weird sentences

Enjoy!

Jack Frost stares at the snow covered landscape through the window and glares. Despite how unusual it sounds, he is quite displeased about his ice powers at the moment.

The reason?

It's summer.

It was the season of spending days in the sun, going to the beach, or wearing lighter clothes. A season where couples would go to the beach, went out for icy treats, or had picnics.

And as the other half of a newly minted couple, he could do none of it with his lovely girlfriend.

Anywhere he went, a snow day would follow.

A nice dip into a river, lake or pool? He would freeze it by just touching it. Not to mention he was still a little overly cautious around large bodies of water.

Going to the beach? Out of the question since either the temperature would drop too low and drive everyone away or he would feel too drained due to the heat and not really enjoy it.

Emily had been helping him on how to better control his abilities. Despite being over 300 years old, he had been mostly on his own, so anything he knew was self taught.

They had started at the beginning of fall and mostly had focused on how to harness the cold weather to his advantage and also how to keep the temperature from lowering too much whenever he entered a room.

But arriving in the smack dab of summer, not only would he have to worry to not freeze the place, he would have to keep himself cool enough so that he didn't feel like his magic was being drained. It sounded like too a stressful a time to even enjoy it.

He could ask Bunny or Tooth if Emily and he could spend some time at their places, since their magic overruled his. But Tooth was always busy and he didn't like the idea of kangaroo third wheeling if he accidentally passed by the place they would be staying.

North would go over the top if Jack asked him for help with a date. The old Cossack was well-meaning, but still a little overbearing.

And Sandy…Sandy was not only an agent of chaos, he was practically Emily's unofficial father figure. Despite the dream weaver supporting their relationship, he had warned Jack multiple times that if the boy ever hurt Emily he would make sure Jack would regret it.

One would think that silent threats from such a small and friendly-looking man would not be intimidating, but whoever thought that, then truly had never met Sanderson Mansnoozie.

He just wanted to have a nice time alone with his girlfriend without any interruptions.

They had gotten closer while she was teaching him how to better control his abilities. She had been a strict teacher, but as time went on he discovered that she was patient, talented, and surprisingly funny.

They had spent hours talking, their training sessions extending until they both dropped the pretext that they only hang together for that. She had told him that she genuinely liked spending time with him, that she laughed more easily with him.

He had felt himself open up more to her more easily than with anyone else. They both had been on their own for many years before finding their respective roles.

She had told him of how hard it had been to find a place for herself after she came to Earth, her father's deeds always dragging behind her and how many had turned her away.

He had delved into his years of lonely wandering around, not being seen by anyone.

It kindled a fellow understanding among them.

They had spent days together, while she brought winter and he took care of his duties as a guardian. He even had roped her into a snowball fight with Jamie and his friends. Her laughter sending a pleasant shiver down his back, and her bright smile had shown him that there was so much more to her once you take the time.

They had spent their free time in fall and winter practically glued to each other, but once spring came she had to make sure that the season transition would go smoothly. They had stayed in touch, both making a considerate effort to make sure that the other didn't feel like they had been cast aside.

He found himself going over every piece of communication they had, unable to hold back a smile at her witty responses and even when she made a few silly jokes of her own.

Now summer had come and he was itching to see her again.

Although Jack considered that maybe he could ask her to use some of her magic so that he would not bring a blizzard wherever he went or that the temperature wouldn't sap his energy away, he thought against it.

She had already done a titanic effort of changing seasons and making sure that nothing got out of control, which took a huge amount of magic and energy. Emily was probably exhausted and it wouldn't be very considerate of him to ask her for more just for his own convenience.

Jack represses a sigh. Despite all the logical reasons, he still wants to see her.

"Your face is gonna get stuck like that if you keep frowning, you know?", a beautiful voice comes from behind him.

Startled, he turns around only to find the very object of his rather melancholic musings standing there, looking positively radiant.

"Emily!", he crosses the few feet that separated them, unable to resist the impulse to hug her.

She is always so warm. Not enough to actually affect him or his magic, but the pleasant warmth that reminds of being wrapped around a cozy blanket or the gentle heat of the sun on your skin.

He squeezes her tighter, the faint smell of flowers and incoming storm wrapping around him and making him feel giddy.

"What are you doing here? I thought you would be too busy with bringing summer.", he asks steps back to get a good look at her.

"Just the first weeks are the busiest ones. Besides, all those nature spirits could do with doing a little more work asides from bowing down and saying how great I am", she winks at him with a smirk. "It does them good that I delegate a bit more."

She strokes his cheek with her thumb, staring at him in such a loving manner that it makes his heart stutter in its pace. "And I really wanted to see you…"

He cuts her off with a kiss, lips gently pressing to hers but with purpose.

They had kissed before; it had been a timid, a bit awkward, and an absolutely lovely first kiss.

Now he made sure to show how much he had missed her. The chances to kiss her again, hold her or to simply spend time together, those thoughts had accompanied him every day during their time apart.

The sound of a distant door opening and closing got them to separate, both looking at each other and chuckling.

She took his hand and started leading him out of the Pole, a little smirk indicating she had a secret.

"Come with me."

"Are we there yet, princess?" he asks for the fourth time. They had left the Pole about ten minutes ago and had flown not too far away, the vast icy landscape still dominating everything around them. When they had land, her hands cover his eyes, making him walk ahead in the dark.

"Frost, we'll get there when we get there"

"Y'know, if you just wanted to murder me, there are better ways than this", he teases.

"If you don't shut up, I might start to consider murdering you in the end"

He chuckles, loving that he could tease her again. She always get this adorable little frown in her face and even a small pout in her lips.

They walk like that for a bit further, until she instructs him to stop and keep his eyes closed.

There is a faint shuffling sound in front of him and the wind had now slowed down.

"Alright. Open your eyes."

He does, the sight of a large thick blanket spread on the snow, with food and a large thermos on top of the fabric greeting him. There are some cushions and more blankets on one of the corners.

Next to the blanket, a fire roars, contained in a brass plate fire pit.

The set up was guarded from the wind by a glacial wall, looking down onto the snowy hills.

A true feast sat atop the waterproof blanket, sandwiches, tarts, soup, and the infamous cookies from the North Pole's kitchens inside containers that would stop the temperature from escaping the food.

Jack is speechless. He looks at Emily and then back to the display.

"Y-you made all of this?"

"Not…entirely", she admits. "I asked the yetis help with the food, and North enchanted everything so it would stay warm" She points towards the blanket, the food containers and the fire.

She tells Jack how surprisingly easy I had been to rope the Cossack into helping her prepare all this.

"I did warn him that if he eavesdropped on our date, I would personally burn the naughty and nice list". She says with a wink, eliciting a genuine laugh out of the guardian of fun.

Unable to resist anymore, he kisses the daylights out of her even. And she more than welcomes him.

He holds her closer, breaking the kiss and resting his forehead against hers. "Thank you"

It's barely a whisper, but she smiles sweetly. "You are very much welcome."

Both sit and make themselves comfortable. Despite that with her own magic the cold temperature would not affect her, she stills opts to wrap herself in one of the extra blankets that North enchanted. Not necessarily just because she is tired from the change of seasons, but also because it had been so long since she enjoyed the cozy feeling of having something warm wrapped around her.

They start eating, chatting up a storm to catch up from their time apart.

She had missed how easy it was to laugh and be just her around him.

"How did you know I wanted to do something his summer?"

She shrugs "Call it a hunch and also maybe a little bit of selfishness. I wanted to do something with you."

"Also" She laughs at the next part. "Sandy you said that you looked positively miserable in your last meeting."

She omits the part where Sandy explicitly signed 'Take this guy somewhere fancy for gods' sake, he looks like a lovesick idiot when he misses you'

It was fine with her, because she looked just as ridiculous despite being able to hide it better.

After they are done with their meal, they huddle closer. Emily's back is against his chest, now sharing a blanket and enjoying the warmth of the fire.

"I know you're not able to handle your powers the way you want to", she says while resting her shoulder. Emily is keenly aware that he doesn't ask for her to use her magic for her benefit, but something tells her it's also a little bit of pride for wanting to do things himself. "But I know you will get there. Maybe next summer we can go to Sandy's island and camp out in the beach"

"Oh, princess. Anything is worth the effort if I get to see you in a bikini." He teases her while peppering kisses to the side of her face and down her neck, his lips tickling her and making her giggle.

She playfully swats at his arm. "Then you better work hard on controlling that pesky ice of yours before next summer."

He draws her closer and closes his eyes, lips resting against her shoulder and breathing in her scent that now has a smoky hint from being close to the fire.

He can't wait for next summer to arrive.

Let me know what you think!

Stay safe and take care :D
