CH 31 – Overheated
They didn't speak all the way to the JingShi, although Lan Zhan's shoulders and overall countenance showed he was straining to keep his temper in check with more willpower than normal. Wei Ying didn't want to break that fragile control that was obviously taking so much effort to keep in place, at least until they got home, although part of him wanted to tell his beloved husband that the grip on his wrist was beginning to cut off the circulation. When they got home he planned on shattering the self control completely and finding out why the little idiot of a Sect Leader had gotten so much under his husbands skin.
At least that had been the plan anyway. Lan Zhan however, as with most things, seemed to have other plan's which completely ran all over his own. As soon as they got in the house Wei Ying turned to securely close doors, triggering the silencing spell. He didn't even have time to turn back around before a strong arm wrapped around him from behind, pulling him close to a muscled chest. Wei Ying stood still, letting Lan Zhan wrap the other arm around the first, effectively capturing him in that iron-like embrace. Lan Zhan simply stood, his arms wrapped around his husband with his head resting on his shoulder, breathing in the scent that was Wei Ying. Letting that scent and the feel of the man in his embrace calm down the sharp edges of his temper. Wei Ying knew enough about Lan Zhan's temper after all these years to know that sometimes he just needed the physical contact to calm him. Lan Zhan might seem like nothing affected him but that was just a surface, a ruse. Deep inside Lan Zhan felt emotions just as deep and strong as anyone else, and Wei Ying dared think that in fact those emotions where actually stronger than most. After probably ten minutes of both men standing in stillness and silence, Wei Ying moved one hand to rest on both of Lan Zhan's before speaking gently.
'Why did that idiot get under your skin so much today?'
Lan Zhan didn't speak for a long time. The head resting on Wei Ying's shoulder simply moved slightly and the arms around his waist tightened almost as a reflex to his words, almost tight enough that Wei Ying had to gasp for breath. Then almost as a whisper Lan Zhan spoke, his voice a mix of emotions too complex to describe.
'He tried to hurt you…..he wanted to hurt you!'
'He's not the first person to try and hurt me Er'ge, you know this. You have been the one person with me when the others tried and failed. This guy didn't even have the strength to hurt me properly if he wanted to! What I want to know is that you didn't react like this to the others. I don't understand what you are reacting to now.' Wei Ying patted his husbands hands soothingly as he spoke.
Again Lan Zhan fell silent for a few minutes before responding, almost reluctantly.
'When he said you deserved to die at Nightless City, and deserved to die again. I felt your hurt, your pain, at those words. I don't know how but I did. I thought I had felt the worst pain imaginable when you were gone for all those years, but…..' he stopped as if finding the right words. Wei Ying waited knowing that if he moved or interfered now Lan Zhan would stop talking altogether. '….but what you felt…..in that dream…...and today….I don't know how you survived such agony…...I'm never going to let you feel like that ever again!'
Wei Ying smiled and attempted to turn round, without success. He tapped Lan Zhan's hands gently as a signal to loosen his hold on him for a moment and after a few seconds the hands holding him loosened just enough for him to turn. Lan Zhan's face was a mix of emotions ranging from pure rage to confusion to hurt. Wei Ying had never seen such a range of emotions on his husbands face before and didn't know which one to deal with first. He could only think of one thing to do and that was to refocus his husband onto something else. Lifting one hand he rested it gently onto Lan Zhan's cheek and smiled.
'I never feel like that when I'm with you' he said gently. 'I always feel safe, protected and loved. Maybe what you felt is just due to the change in our bond, maybe we can feel strong emotions in each other.'
Lan Zhan had a look on his face that showed he didn't quite believe what he was saying. That was ok Wei Ying didn't believe it either, but at least it got Lan Zhan's mind onto something else. He ran his thumb over Lan Zhan's lower lip and then spoke a little more teasingly.
'if my overprotective husband doesn't want me getting hurt in future, then I'm afraid we are going to be sleeping with our full robes on from now on…..or in separate beds. Because….'
He hadn't even finished his sentence before Lan Zhan had removed one of his hands from his waist and placed it at the back of his head. With the long, graceful fingers knotted in his hair Wei Ying could only remain passive as he received a forceful kiss, full of need and passion. His own hands roamed around Lan Zhan's back and shoulders as his mouth opened up automatically for the invasion of the others tongue into his mouth as he met it with own. The kiss got deeper and deeper, the frayed emotions of both men being soothed and calmed by the intimate touch of the other. Eventually Wei Ying's hands found their way back to Lan Zhan's chest and he pushed hard enough to break the contact and take a large breath. He could see Lan Zhan's bottom lip stained red, and knew his own had been bitten hard enough to make it bleed. At one point he would have argued about being bitten but those arguments had always fallen on deaf ears. For some reason Lan Zhan liked to bite, it was if he was physically marking territory.
Before Wei Ying could think about any more dog comparisons he felt the cool evening air on his upper torso. Somehow Lan Zhan had managed to remove his belt and open his upper robes without him noticing. Along with the whispers of air on his skin he could also feel the almost overwhelming sensation of Lan Zhan's lips and tongue as he explored his skin and followed the pattern left by old wounds and healing bite marks. The two where still close together so the rising arousal from both of them was not missed by either, despite the fact that technically both were still clothed.
'b…..bed' Wei Ying managed in a breathy voice.
Lan Zhan looked up at him and smiled. The type of smile he only ever used in the privacy of the JingShi.
'Clothes first' Lan Zhan replied, obviously trying to appear calm but his voice was equally as breathy.
Wei Ying obligingly reached for Lan Zhan's belt, but just as he made contact with it Lan Zhan moved his hand away. Wei Ying then made to remove his own top robe completely, but again Lan Zhan moved away his hand. For a moment Wei Ying stood there confused. Lan Zhan had just said they needed to remove their clothes and was preventing him from doing just that. When Lan Zhan reached out and began slowly sliding the robes from his shoulders though it suddenly dawned on Wei Ying. Lan Zhan was in one of those moods. The type of mood where he liked to touch and tease, he liked to stroke and explore, but he didn't like to be touched. Whatever would happen between them tonight Lan Zhan needed Wei Ying to play along and keep his hands to himself.
Lan Zhan didn't know when he had finished removing Wei Ying's clothes, or his own, or even when he had gotten both of them over to the bed. All he knew was that tonight he felt raw, tonight he felt like he had an itch all over his skin, and the only way that could be soothed was by Wei Ying. Touching him, being inside him and hearing him moan in pleasure. Knowing that he was the only person in the world who could make Wei Ying forget everything that had happened to him, all the hurt and pain, and only feel bliss. Right now he himself wanted to forget as well. He wanted to loose himself in the joining, wanted to become one with his love and remind himself that no matter what happened no one would ever be able to separate them.
Wei Ying couldn't help but moan gently as Lan Zhan's lips and tongue teased his chest while first one and then two fingers stretched and prepared his entrance. Although it felt sooo good he knew what was coming would feel so much better. He tried hard to keep still but it felt soo good. He had placed his hands under the small of his back (effectively shackling himself) as soon as he has been, partly laid partly dumped on the bed, so he could resist the urge to reach out and touch the man with him. The man who was currently looking down on him with eyes that seemed they were on fire, which if anything made Wei Ying find him more appealing than normal.
As Lan Zhan entered, both men groaned. They had done this so many times over the years but the mix of the stresses of the day and being apart for so long due to injury or illness made it feel so much more intimate than normal. Lan Zhan couldn't make himself pause to let Wei Ying get used to the intrusion and Wei Ying couldn't hold himself back from moving his own hips to meet the first movements from Lan Zhan. Neither man needed to speak, they could read each others minds and each others bodies. Wei Ying's groans got louder and louder, and for once Lan Zhan didn't even try to suppress his own, adding to the noise filling the JingShi. Neither man was thinking straight at the moment either, all they knew is that they needed the other. They needed that balm, that bandage on their souls that only the other could provide. The air around them became thick and hot, filled with the smell of sweat and arousal. But completely oblivious to their surroundings the two carried on well into the night, and even the early mornings of the next day before finally falling asleep in each others arms. Physically exhausted and spent but spiritually healed.
Wei Ying felt something wasn't quite right as he opened his eyes. It was still pitch black outside so obviously still night-time, wasn't sure what had actually woken him up. Lan Zhan was still sound asleep next to him and he automatically settled himself back down, resting his head on his arm. Then a strange noise came from outside, causing Wei Ying to shoot up in the bed. Not noticing the sheet falling from his bare frame he stared into the night, not because of the type of noise that was coming from outside but that there was a noise at all! The cloud recess way extremely strict when it came to the rules, which was the whole reason for the silencing spell on the JingShi, and the two 'no shouting' and 'no noise after 9pm' were both being broken right at the moment.
Something was seriously wrong and Wei Ying didn't know what, however he wasn't going to lie there and wait to find out. As he climbed out of bed he paused, should he wake Lan Zhan or should he find out the problem first?…..Lan Zhan had calmed down since their nights efforts, however he was still on edge. He pulled on the nearest pair of trousers, not caring who's they where, and walked over to the JingShi's door. Outside was pitch black but there were definite sounds of shouting coming coming from the direction of the central area. Deciding it was better to have Lan Zhan with him than not, he tried to shake him awake. Unsurprisingly Lan Zhan remained firmly asleep, after all the strict sleep patterns he had been raised with still made him sleep like a corpse. Wei Ying smiled and shook him a little harder. This time Lan Zhan groaned and simply rolled over in his sleep. Undeterred he tried again, this time Lan Zhan opened his eyes a crack and looked up at his husband. The look of tired confusion clear on his face.
'Wei Ying ….what?' He began to ask.
Then another harsh sound came from outside the JingShi, a harsh sound, not a voice but defiantly not a noise that belonged in the cloud recces. Lan Zhan's eyes opened further at the sound and Wei Ying nodded answering the unspoken question.
'Something is going on outside!'
