Tonight it the night that me and Harry go with Dumbledore to find an Horcrux. I'm kind of scared on what that actually means since he hasn't said where we are going or what we will be doing. I mean, I know that we are safe with Dumbledore and that he would never let anything happen to us, but I'm still worried.
I turn around when I hear someone walking down the stairs of the Astronomy Tower. I smile when I see that it's my dad, but it turns into a frown when I see how angry he looks.
"Dad" he jumps at the sound of my voice. He looks at me and smiles. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's fine, sweetheart. I just didn't know it was you, that's all" he walks over to me and pulls me into a hug. "Whatever you are doing tonight, just promise me that you will be careful."
"I promise I will be careful."
He kisses the top of my head, before he walked off. I watch him walk down the corridor and snigger a little when Harry almost bumped into him as he turned the corner. I smile at Harry as he walks over to me.
"Have you been waiting for long?" he asks.
"Nah, probably about 2 minutes."
He nods then looks at me. "Are you ready for this?"
"Not really, you?"
"No, but we will be ok with Dumbledore, but I still promise to keep you safe, ok?"
"Ok Harry" I say smiling.
We walk up the stairs and see Dumbledore smiling at us when we reach the top. So dad was talking Dumbledore, but I wonder why he looked so angry? I was about to ask him, but he cuts me off, it's like he knew what I was about to ask him.
"You need a shave, my friends" he says to Harry, who just smiles back. "Sometimes I forget how much you've grown. At time, I still see the small boy from the cupboard, and Ava" he says, turning to face me, "well, you haven't changed that much, my dear, but that's a good thing."
He suddenly looks at us but more seriously than before. "The place to which we journey to tonight is extremely dangerous, I promised you two could accompany me, I stand by that promise, but there is one condition, you must obey my every command I give you, without question."
"Yes sir" we both answer.
"You two do understand what I am saying? Should I tell you to hide, you hide. Should I tell you to run, you run. Should I tell you to abandon me and save yourselves, you must do so, do I have your word?"
"My word" we both answer again.
Dumbledore nods, then holds out his arm. "Take my arm, you two."
"But sir" Harry frowns, "I thought you couldn't Apparate within Hogwarts."
"Well, being me has it's privileges" Dumbledore says with a little smug smile. Me and Harry take his arm and we disappear from the Astronomy Tower and reappear on a massive rock that's in the middle of the sea. I look around and all I can see is water and a big cliff.
"We need to get over to that cliff" Dumbledore says, pointing to it. Harry glances at the sea, then back at Dumbledore with a questioning look.
"Don't worry" I say, "we don't need to swing."
"How do we get over there then?" Harry frown.
"Like this" I say, before turning myself into a phoenix.
"Well done, Ava" Dumbledore smiled. "You amazing girl."
I squawk happily, which makes Harry laugh. I fly into the air and grab the back of their tops then fly over to the cliff. I lower them down before turning back into myself. Dumbledore looked around then waved to me and Harry to follow him, which we did.
We stopped at this little cave and Dumbledore starts slowly running his hand over the rocks. "This is the place - oh yes - this place has known magic."
Me and Harry glance at each other then look back at Dumbledore only to say him cutting the palm of his hand. "Sir" we say in shock when we see him bleeding.
"I'm order to gain passage, payment must be made. Payment intended to weaken any intruder" he explains.
"You should have let me, sir" Harry says.
"Oh no! Your blood is much more precious than me" he says, running his hand over the rocks again, and this time, they start moving to reveal a little path way. Dumbledore puts his knife away and starts walking down the path. Me and Harry look at each before we follow him.
When we reach the end of the path and I can see a small lake and a little island that looks like a block of ice. Dumbledore pulls out his wand and throws a light ball into the air, lighting everything up.
"There is is" he says, pointing to the block that looks like ice. Dumbledore steps towards and extends his hand over the water, which starts bubbling, then a chain suddenly flew into his hand. He hands it to me and Harry and we start pulling it. It feel like there's something on the end of it.
We carry on pulling when I see the top of something pop out of the water. A few seconds later, a boat appear. We climb inside and Dumbledore uses magic to make the boat move. We reach the little island, that now looks more like crystal than ice, and get out of the boat.
We follow Dumbledore to a stand that looks like a little sink with black liquid in.
"Do you think the Horcrux is in there, sir?" Harry says.
"Oh yes! It's there" he runs his hand over the liquid without touching it, then picks up a white shell off the side. "It has to be drunk. All of it as to be drunk" he says, before looking at us. "This potion might paralyze me, make me forget things, cause me pain, it might even make me beg for death, but you both have to make sure that I keep drinking, even if you have to force it down my throat, do you understand me?" me and Harry look at each other. "You gave me your word, you two."
We look at Dumbledore and nod. He scoops up some potion and the the second he swallows it, he starts shaking and falls on the floor. Me and Harry panic and rush over to him. "Are you ok, sir?" we both ask.
Dumbledore doesn't answer us but points to the shell. Harry picks it up and looks at me. "We have too. We gave him our work" I nod and he walks over to the stand, scoops up some of the potion and walks back over to Dumbledore, who drinks it. He looks like he's in pain.
Harry kept going back and forth making sure that Dumbledore drank the potion. "Don't make me" he whispers.
"You have to keep drinking, like you said, remember?" Harry says. Dumbledore looks at him then slowly opens his mouth and Harry pours the potion in.
"Stop him, Ava!" Dumbledore begs, as Harry walks over to us.
I look at him and I can see he begging in his eyes. "I-I can't, I'm sorry. You have to keep drinking."
He opens his mouth and drinks the potion. "Kill me!" he suddenly shouts, which shocks me and Harry. "It's my fault. It's all my fault" he mutters.
Harry comes over to us with other shell full of point. Dumbledore looks at it and shakes his head.
"Please, sir" Harry begs. "Just one more. One more and then I promise -"
"We promise" I say quickly.
"Yes, we promise that we will do whatever you say, but you have to drink one more. Please, sir."
Dumbledore opens his mouth and Harry pours in the potion. He starts shaking, then he suddenly stopped and smiled at us.
"How do you feel?" I ask.
"Water" he says, opening and closing his mouth. "I need water, Ava."
"I'm on it" I say, walking over to the sink and I see a locket is now sitting in the sink. "You did it, sir, look" I say, showing him the locket.
"Water, Ava."
"Right, sorry" I turn back around, put the locket around my neck and pull out my wand. "Aguamenti" I say, and water appears, but when I try to scoop some water into the shell, it doesn't work and makes the water disappear.
"Aguamenti" I say, making water appear again, but when I try to scoop it up, the same thing happens. "It's not working, it won't let me scoop up the water."
"What do you mean it not working?" Harry asks, walking over to me.
"The water disappears when I try to scoop it up."
Harry pulls out his wand. "Aguamenti" he says, before trying to scoop up the water, but the same thing happens to him.
I look at him with a look. "If it didn't work for me, then why would it work for you?"
"I dunno" he shrugs, before looking around. "Maybe I could get water from the lake."
"Ok, but be careful."
He walks to the edge of the crystal island and goes to put the shell into the water, only it makes the light in the air sink into the water.
"Lumos" I say, lighting the tip of my wand so that Harry could see what he's doing. I hear a splash and it makes Harry jump away from the water.
"A - a hand" he gasps.
"Lumos Maxima" I say, throwing the light into the air so that everything is lit up again. The water starts splashing around us and something slowly starts coming out of the water.
"Oh my - they're Inferi" I breath out.
"A what?" Harry frowns.
"A Inferi, it's a corpse that's been reanimated by Dark Magic. It becomes a grisly puppet and may be used as an expendable servant by the Dark wizard in question. Didn't you listen to dad when he was talking about them?"
"No, really not."
"Don't let them touch you!" I say, smacking one in the face. "They will drag you into the water."
"How do we get rid of them?" Harry asks, smacking other one in the face.
"You can't. No spell will work on them" I say, pushing two back in the water. "The only thing that will work is fire and the only fire I know is fiendfyre, but that's too dangerous because you can't control it" I say, as we pushed, kicked and hit the Inferi that were around us.
"There's too many" Harry panics.
"Ava "Dumbledore say weakly. "Y-you're a p-phoenix, you c-can control it."
I don't even think twice. I pointed my wand in the air and shouted. "Fiendfyre!" a ball of fire shot out of my wand and turned into a phoenix. I move my wand around only to find that I can actually control it. I make the fire phoenix fly around the room, hitting every Inferi that was going after Harry and me. After a few seconds, they all had disappeared.
"That - was - awesome" Harry says, looking rather amazed. I nod in agreement. It was pretty awesome, and the fire phoenix looked beautiful flying around.
"Harry, Ava" Dumbledore mumbled. We walk over to him and help him to stand. "Well done, Ava. You too, Harry."
We make our way over to the boat, climb in and go back across the lake, up the path and out the cave. I turn into a phoenix and fly us back over to the massive rock, then Dumbledore Apparates us back to the school.
We land back in the Astronomy Tower and Dumbledore all most falls over. "We need to get you to the hospital wing, sir" Harry says.
"No, Severus. Severus is who I need. Ava, could you go and get your father? Tell me what happened and don't speak to anyone else."
"Ok, I'll be right back" I say, going to walk off, but stop in my tracks when I hear a door open.
"Hide yourselves below" Dumbledore says. "Both of you. Don't speak or be seen by anybody without my permission, whatever happens, it is imperative that you stay below."
Me and Harry hesitate a little before turning around and hiding ourselves below. We both look up when we hear footsteps. I only see Dumbledore, who's standing there perfectly fine. He seems to be looking at someone. I follow his eyes and see that he's looking at Draco, who's stood there with Blaise. Draco has got his wand pointed at Dumbledore.
"Good evening, Draco, Blaise. What brings you here on this fine evening?"
"Who else is here? I heard someone talking" Draco says.
"I often talk aloud to myself. I find it extraordinarily useful. Have you been talking to yourself lately? Draco, you are no assassin."
"How do you know what I am? I've done things that would shook you."
"Like cursing Katie Bell, in the hope that she would return a cured necklace to me? Like replacing a bottle of mead with one laced with poison? Forgive me, Draco, but I can't help feeling that these actions were weak. It seems your heart can't really have been in it."
"He trusts me. I was chosen!" Draco says, pulling up his sleeve and shows Dumbledore his Dark Mark. I guess I was right all along about Draco being a Death Eater.
Dumbledore looks at Blaise. "And you?"
"He trusts me too" he pulls up his sleeve and I see the Dark Mark on his arm. I make a little sound, I'm not even sure what sound it was, but it makes Dumbledore glance down at me. I quickly put my hand over my mouth to stop myself from making any more noise.
Dumbledore looks back up. "Then I shall make this easy for you" he pulls out his wand but before he could use it, Draco disarms him, making Dumbledore's wand shoot out of his hand and on to the floor. I see Harry pull out his wand and point it up towards Draco and Blaise.
"Very good, Draco" Dumbledore says. Why would he be happy about that for? I jump when the door opens again and people start whispering.
"You're not alone, there are others, but how?"
"The vanishing cabinet in the room of requirements" Blaise says. "We have been mending it for months."
So that's what they have been doing when they would disappear for hours on end.
"Let me guess, it has a sister, a twin?" Dumbledore asks.
"In Borgin and Burkes" Draco answers. "They form a passage."
"Ingenious. Draco, years ago I knew a boy who made all the wrong choices. Please let me help you."
"I don't need your help! Don't you understand, I have to do this, I have to kill you, or he's going to kill Ava."
My head shot up when Draco said that. He's not doing this because of me. I move closer to the stairs, but Harry grabs my hand, which makes me look at him.
"You have to stay hidden" he whispers.
"But -"
"You gave him your word, Ava!"
"But Draco, he can't, not for me."
"He won't. He won't kill him!" Harry says, but it looks like he's trying to convince himself more than me. Just then we see Bellatrix walk into the room, which makes Harry tighten his grip on my hand. She not alone though, she's with 3 other Death Eaters and Greyback.
"Well, look what we have here" Bellatrix says, walking over to Draco and Blaise. "Well done, boys" she whisper.
"Good evening, Bellatrix, I think introductions are in order, don't you?" Dumbledore asks.
"Love to, Albus, but I'm afraid we are on a tight schedule" she says, before turning to Draco, who's shaking so much it's making his wand shake. "Do it, Draco" she hissed, but Draco just stands there.
"He doesn't have the stomach for it, just like his father" Grayback says. "Let me finish him off in my own way."
"No! The Dark Lord was clear, the boy must be the one to do it. Now, Draco!"
Just then me and Harry hear a noise behind is, which makes up both tense up. We slowly turn around and come face to face with my dad. I breath a sigh of relief, glad that it's only dad and not a Death Eater. He puts his fingers to his lips, telling us to be quiet.
We nod and dad walks over to me and kisses the top of my head, before he walks off without saying another word.
"Do it, Draco!" Bellatrix shouts, which makes me and Harry look back up. Draco's hand is shaking worst than before.
"No!" dad say. I look and see that he's got his wand out. He can't fight all those Death Eater on his own. I need to help him. Harry must have known what I was thinking because he grips my hand even tighter. I look at him and he shakes his head.
"But my dad -"
"Severus" Dumbledore says. "Please."
"I have to help him" I say, pulling my hand out of Harry's grip. I go to rush off but freeze in my tracks when I hear dad say, "Avada Kedavra."
I look up only to see a green light hit Dumbledore in the chest. He stumbles backward and falls off the Astronomy Tower. I stand there, rooted to the floor. I feel like I can't breath and my heart is beating so fast that it's actually giving me chest pains.
"M-my dad just k-killed someone. His friend - fuck" I whisper, trying to choke back the tears. I look around and see Harry stood there looking at me. "Harry, my dad just killed Dumbledore."
"I know, Ava! I saw!" Harry growls angrily.
"I-I don't understand."
I look up when I hear footsteps and see them all leaving the room.
"I'm going to kill Snape!" Harry says, before rushing off. I stand there for a few seconds when I suddenly realise that Harry gone after my dad with a wand in his hand. Harry doesn't think straight when he's angry. I turn around and quickly rush out of the room.
Draco P.O.V
I can't believe Dumbledore is dead. I've never seen anyone die before, and I've just watch Snape kill Dumbledore right in front of my eye. I feel sick. I jump when Bellatrix starts cheering loudly. I turn around and watch her completely destroy the Great Hall, making glass go everywhere. We carry on walking, making our way outside so we have Apparate to my house.
"SNAPE!" I hear someone yell. I turn around and see Potter running after us. "HE TRUSTED YOU!" he yells, before firing a spell at Snape, which he easily blocks, so Potter fires another one, then another one, another one, but Snape blocks every single one.
"FIGHT BACK! YOU COWARD! FIGHT BACK!" he yells, making Snape clench his fists.
Bellatrix fires a spell at Potter and it makes him fly backwards and land hard on the floor. Suddenly Ava comes out of nowhere and makes Bellatrix fly backwards and smack into a tree and she doesn't get up for a while.
"He was your friend" Ava says, looking at Snape. "And you just - just k-killed him!" Ava pushes him back with such force that Snape almost falls over. "You murderer!"
"Ava, I -"
"You lied to me! You said you were on our side! You said you were working for Dumbledore, but that was all fucking bullshit, wasn't it? Because you don't kill the people you work for! I wish you had told me the truth because it would have been less painful than finding out like this! You betrayed me, dad, and you have betrayed mom again!"
Ava gasps when a spell flies past her ear. I look behind her and see Potter aiming his wand at them. Why the hell is he firing a spell at Ava for? I see him rise him wand again and I pull Ava out of the way.
"Get off me!" she says, trying to get out of my grip when Potter points his wand at Snape. "Harry, stop it!" but he doesn't and keeps firing spell after spell at Snape, but he blocks all of them which is making Potter more angry.
"FIGHT BACK!" he yells "Sectumsempra!"
"No!" Ava shouts, but sighs in relief when Snape blocks the spell, making Potter fly backwards on to the ground. Snape walks over to him and kicks his wand away.
"You dare use my own spell against me, Potter? Yes, I'm the Half-Blood Prince."
"What the fuck!" Ava breaths out. She looks at her father. "Y-you made that spell? That spell that almost killed me? Why didn't I recognize your hand writing? Why would you even make a spell that dangerous for?"
Snape moves closer to her, which makes her move back and bump into me. I look at Snape and he looks so hurt. Ava has never backed away from her father before. He puts his hands on her cheeks and wipes away her tears.
"Stay with me" Ava whispers. "Don't go with them. Don't leave me."
"I have to go, Ava."
"Fine!" She says, knocking his hands away. "Go then! Go on! Go and fuck off to your master! But if you do, if you walk away from me, then we are done! There will be no coming back from this!"
"I'm sorry" Snape says, kissing the top of her head. I'm pretty sure I just heard Ava's heart break in two. Snape looks at me and Blaise and nods towards the forest. I let go of Ava and we follow him, leaving a heart broken Ava behind.
"NO! COME BACK! ALL OF YOU! TURN AROUND, PLEASE!" she yells, before she starts crying the worst I've ever heard her cry before. I feel a tear run down my cheek but I quickly wipe it away.
I look at Snape and see that he's got no emotion on his face, but I can tell from his eyes that he's hurting. So am I. She just begged us to turn around and go back to her but we just carried on walking. I would love nothing more than to turn around and be with Ava, but I can't. There's still my mother to think about, if I don't return with Snape then The Dark Lord will kill her.
"Do you think Ava will forgive us?" Blaise asks.
"No" I say. "We have done too much to forgive."
"Ava is more understanding than you think, Draco" Snape says. "She's just angry at the minute but she will come around in the end. She will understand everything in the end."
We reach the gates and Snape grabs mine and Blaise's arm and Appeared us to Malfoy Manor.
