No One Does It Better

Chapter 31

As long as you're here with me,

I know we'll be okay

As the rest of the flat celebrated and brought in the New Year, Sirius and I stayed at the window in our own little world. Around 5 minutes after midnight, we eventually broke apart and I rested my forehead on his.

'Happy New Year, love,' Sirius said quietly.

'Happy New Year,' I said to him, my voice almost a whisper.

'Well it took you bloody long enough to get off each other!' James exclaimed coming over to us. 'Happy New Year again, Nova!'

I laughed as he dragged me out of Sirius' arms and into his for a hug. After that, we both did the rounds to say the phrase to everyone until we found each other again. Sirius was crouching over the black music box going through blocks of plastic.

'What are you doing?' I asked and sat on the floor next to him.

'Looking through these cassette tapes, I want you to hear one of these songs.'

'If it goes 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie', I have already danced all I can do it.'

'No,' he laughed then looked around the room. 'Robins! Who is the singer guy with the husky voice?'

'Need more than that, mate,' Patrick Robins, a 6th year Gryffindor who was a chaser for the quidditch team made his way over to us. 'What does the song go like?'

Sirius looked at me, almost reluctant to speak in front of me so he ushered the boy to come to his level and he whispered in his ear. I rolled my eyes at the dramatics of it all.

'Yeah, I know it,' Patrick grinned and rustled through the tapes. 'This one, track eleven.'

Sirius popped it into the black box and hit a button then grabbed my hand and pulled me up off the floor.

'Who put Rod Stewart on for Christ's sake?' Christopher Wood, the other Gryffindor Beater shouted.

'Me, and it's my party so shut up and pick Lily, Marlene or Alice to dance,' Sirius yelled back and grinned down at me as he propped up my arms and started dancing in the living room.

'That'll be right,' I heard James grunt somewhere.

The song had a slow start and then the husky voice Sirius described starting singing.

'So, you wanted me to hear this…why?' I looked up at the grey eyes that were watching me so intently.

'It takes a while but when we get there, you'll hear why,' he said with a playful smile.

As we swayed and I kept an ear out, Lily and James danced their way over to us.

'What is this you are putting us through, Padfoot?' James asked Sirius. 'I liked that boogie song better.'

'Me too!' I exclaimed.

'I think I know why he put this on,' Lily smiled at me. 'Just wait.'

'Shh, shh,' Sirius waved at them. 'I think this is it.'

You're an essay in glamour,

Please pardon the grammar but you're every schoolboy's dream

Sirius then began singing the rest to me and I could see Lily's smile grow larger out the corner of my eye as I tried to stay solely focus on Sirius and the words to the song that I just had to listen to.

'You're Celtic, United but baby I've decided, you're the best team I've ever seen.'

I didn't even have time to process what just happened when Sirius kissed me again. But I had to make sure I hadn't just heard what I thought I did.

'Celtic?' I beamed. 'No chance.'

'I heard it and thought the same. I say it's our song,' he declared.

'Is that a thing?' I laughed.

'It is now,' Sirius grinned.

As much as I hated admitting it, the Gryffindors were fun. As the night wore on, we played game after game. We played charades, where we realised there had to be a substantial amount of muggleborns or half-bloods on my team because I had no idea what was going on half of the time.

Someone then suggested we play a game called spin the bottle but both Sirius, James and Frank argued that it wasn't a good idea, to which Sirius then suggested we play 'Never Have I Ever' as a better alternative. Lily took it a lot better than the time we played it in the Hog's Head and Marlene was warned to be on her best behaviour by Alice when playing it.

After 3am, people started to make their way home and it was just Sirius, James, Remus, Peter, Lily and I left. We were all sitting spread across the two sofas in the living room except for Peter who had fell asleep by his precious television.

'Are you just going to stay until the morning, Nova?' Lily asked with a yawn.

'I don't actually know,' I yawned back. 'I hadn't actually thought that far in advance.'

'I have a spare change of clothes with me anyway if you do,' she told me, and I nodded in response.

I genuinely didn't expect to stay. I had to be able to get back home on New Years Day without my parents knowing I had been out in the first place but if Lily had extra clothes, I could tell them I had been out a walk to get fresh air to feel better.

I looked next to me where Sirius sat. He smiled lazily at me and I couldn't help but yawn again. When I did, he poked his finger in my open, yawning mouth and I pulled away in outrage.

'Why would you ruin a perfectly good yawn?' I demanded.

'Funny,' he shrugged then stood up. 'Bedtime?'

I looked around us. Remus was already lying on one of the couches, falling asleep slowly and James and Lily were cosied up talking between the two of them. I nodded and let Sirius haul me up with my arms.

'G'night, guys,' I said and followed Sirius to the bedroom.

Just as I went to shut the bedroom door, James came running up and held it open.

'Just to let you both know, a little muffliato charm wouldn't hurt anyone,' he winked and then went back off into the living room.

I shut the door and turned to Sirius who was already topless and smirking.

'Now, why would he suggest we use such a charm?' I said sarcastically and yawned, for what felt like the hundredth time.

'Keep the yawning up and we really won't have a need for it,' Sirius said but I watched as he hunted for his wand and cast the charm, nonetheless.

'Are you insinuating something, Black?'

I started to feel butterflies in my stomach as I began to realise that this was the moment and I wished that I had at least went to the bathroom to make sure my make-up hadn't began to make me look like one of the witches you would find down Knockturn Alley.

'I'm insinuating nothing, Bruce,' he walked over to me. 'Just taking precautions.'

I put my hand on the back of his neck and pulled his mouth down to mine for a brief kiss.

'What's life without a little risk?' I whispered.

Without giving me an answer to my question, Sirius picked me up and took me straight over to the bed and lay me down. He hovered above me and began to kiss me again.

This time, our kisses were less urgent and fierce. We were taking our time and being so delicate with each other. I had never kissed anyone like this before and I felt like Sirius hadn't either. I hope he hadn't. It felt like we were both taking our time and enjoying being in this exact moment with each other. His hands weren't wandering across me this time but simply holding him above me. I had lost track of how long we had been like this for but I knew exactly what I wanted now, and it was Sirius.

I began to buck my hips up slightly to tell him I wanted more. I didn't want to ruin the moment by coming straight out with it. I felt him smiled through our kisses as I brushed my hips against his for a third time, letting a small moan escape my mouth.

'Are you sure?' he whispered in between further kisses.

'Yes,' I breathed and pulled him closer to me, causing his arms to collapse and his full body weight was now on top of me as I wrapped my legs around his waist as we lay on the bed. I felt him against me immediately and I knew I couldn't wait much longer.

He let out a small groan and turned us on the bed and I now sat on top, straddling him. I leaned down and began kissing him again and enticed him to sit up as I took his shirt off for the second time that night. He began to unclip my jumpsuit at my neck and when I felt it, he stopped and held it together and looked right into my eyes. The grey had never looked so bright to me before now.

'Are you sure you want to do this?' he asked me for the second time. 'We can wait if you want to.'

I loved how he kept asking but I had never been so sure of something in my whole entire life. I reached to remove his hand from keeping the jumpsuit from covering me and let the top half of it fall to around my waist, leaving my bare breasts on show to him. I couldn't wear a bra because of the low back of it and I couldn't be more grateful for that. I wasn't sure how many more barriers I could take right now.

Sirius started at me in complete awe and kissed me again but then moved away and began to kiss down my neck and then began to kiss my chest. I threw my head back and couldn't help but let a moan escape. I felt like I was going to combust if we kept this going any longer but at the same time, I didn't want it to end.

Eventually, we managed to separate from each other long enough to take the rest of our clothes off until we were both lying side by side on the bed completely naked. Sirius looked over at me and let a grin break out across his face and began to open his mouth when I cut in.

'If you ask me if I am sure one more time, I'll kill you. I literally think I might explode if I wait any longer.'

He seemed to like what I said as he was back on top of me within seconds. This time, our kisses were filled with a sense of yearning that we didn't have earlier. We both wanted each other as equally bad as the other. I could feel Sirius' fingers inching higher up my leg and the next thing I knew my back was arching as his fingers moved in and out of me.

It didn't take him long before he stopped and I couldn't even fathom waiting a minute longer. I wrapped my legs around his waist again to bring me closer to him. I was practically begging for him to be back inside me. He paused and looked at me and brushed some of my hair out of my face.

'Nova, I –'

'Shh,' I said. I wasn't ready for what I think he was going to say to me. 'Remember, I might explode if you keep me waiting much longer.'

He didn't fight to continue talking. He listened to me instead and I gasped slightly when I felt him. This was the closest I had ever been and ever would be to Sirius and I wanted to cherish every moment of it.

He kissed me on last time before we both let out bodies become one.

I woke up just as it turned 6:30 on New Year's Day, wrapped in Sirius' bedsheets with his arms around me keeping me pulled into his chest. I guessed that I only had roughly 2 hours sleep and as much as I wanted to stay in bed with Sirius, I had to get home before my parents woke up.

I began to move slowly out of bed but just as I began to sit up, Sirius pulled me right back into him.

'No,' he said sleepily. 'Don't.'

'I have to,' I told him softly. I turned to face him and moved some of his hair out his face.

'Don't ever go back,' he told me with his eyes still closed. 'I have this place now, stay here with me.'

'I have to go home for now,' I kissed his cheek. 'All my clothes are there and I can't just leave Scorpio.'

'I'll buy you new clothes and I'll set up a rescue mission for the cat.'

I laughed but kissed him and managed to escape his grasp at the same time. I picked up his shirt from the floor and threw it on just in case anyone caught me on my way to the bathroom. When I got in, Lily had left her clothes, a pair of converse, a brush and a scrunchie for me. I washed my face and brushed my hair back into a ponytail. I threw on the jeans Lily had borrowed me along with a burgundy t-shirt and went back through to Sirius' room where he was sitting upright pulling on his clothes.

'What are you doing?' I asked.

'I'll walk you out,' he yawned.

'Do you have a jumper I could borrow?' I asked him. I was still the middle of winter and I couldn't exactly tell my parents I had been out a walk with just a t-shirt on.

He nodded and got up and opened the wardrobes and handed me a black jumper with a hood on the back of it. I pulled it on and saw Sirius standing smiling at me.

'Black suits you.'

'It matches my soul,' I said and pulled him into a kiss. I didn't let it go on for long because I knew if I did, we both wouldn't be able to stop ourselves.

Once we were both ready, we headed out onto Kennington Park Road and walked down towards the tube station. The usually busy street was quiet with a few New Year party goers still out and either heading home or to another party. Sirius had his arm around my shoulder and kept yawning every two minutes.

'I could have just apparated outside the flat,' I told him as he lit up a cigarette.

'I know but I maybe wanted just a few more minutes with you,' he inhaled and then blew out a few seconds alter.

I tucked myself further into him, desperate go hold onto the heat of his body for the last part of the walk. I didn't want to admit, but I felt the same. A few more minutes before I was hurtled back into pretending Sirius didn't exist in my life was what I needed until I got back to Hogwarts.

We eventually got to the tube station and we stood off onto Harleyford Street to say goodbye and so I could apparate when we were sure no one was around.

'My proposition still stands,' Sirius told me as I pulled away from is side. 'I'll go get Scorpio at a later date, and we could go shopping for clothes tomorrow.'

I smiled and kissed him goodbye.

'After Hogwarts, I'm all yours Sirius Black.'
