As soon as Korra directed the heat away from the lava, she launched the solidified earth back to Ghazan. The lavabender tried to melt the boulders again, but the avatar followed with a swipe kick, producing an air current, knocking him off balance.
The avatar immediately took the opportunity, she extracted water out of thin air, freezing it into blade of ice so thin that could hardly be seen. With a swift motion of her hand, she hurled them towards Ghazan.
"Nice try." Korra's attack was blocked by a whip a water inches away from cutting the lavabender's throat. It was Ming Hua, Red Lotus's waterbender.
Ming Hua froze her water limbs into ice, drilling into the earth, she disappeared into the ground in matter of seconds. Ghazan resumed his attack, this time, he switched to a more agile style, as he melted small pieces of rocks, rotating them around each other, creating a disc of lava. He hurled the projectiles to the avatar, who avoided with ease. At the same time, Suyin and Kuvira rained down metal shrapnel to their opponent, who evaded and countered with gusts of wind.
With a flick of his wrist, Ghazan retrieved his magma disc. The projectile changed its course in a half spherical fashion, coming at the avatar's head like a boomerang.
Korra felt the heat of the lava as it approaches her, and, with a stomp of her foot, she raised a boulder, blocking Ghazan's attack on her left.
Korra heard a crack from the ground. "Surprised?", she heard the waterbender's voice. Ming Hua dug her way behind the avatar with her ice drills. Now, the armless waterbender threw her makeshift arm to the avatar while freezing the tip of the waterwhip into ice, its blade loosely resembled that of a scythe.
The avatar stepped to her side, barely avoiding the attack from landing on her head. Unfortunately, she still took a nasty cut on her shoulder. However, that didn't stop her from taking advantage of the situation. As the ice tip of Ming Hua's waterwhip was stuck into her shoulders, Korra grabbed onto the blade and liquified the ice into water. The water immediately started glowing, and her wound started to heal at a visible speed.
Kuvira launched her platinum hand, aiming at the avatar's neck. Korra quickly took control over Ming Hua's water whip and hurled the waterbender to the incoming projectile. The metal hand hit hard under the waterbender's right ribcage, delivering a perfect liver-shot. Ming Hua fell onto her knees, crunching her body and struggling to breath.
Korra immediately took control over the water from Ming Hua, bending it into the shape of a gimbal, blocking blobs of lava sent by Ghazan. The water was turned into steam as it met the sizzling heat of the melted earth. The avatar manipulated the steam into fog, obscuring her opponents' visions, then, she froze the steam into ice, creating a thick layer of frost on their oppoents' bodies.
As Ghazan, Suyin and Kuvira were slowed down by the ice, Korra solidified the rest of her water into spears of ice, hurling them towards her opponents.
The earthbenders managed to summon a wall of earth to block the onslaught when the spikes of ices were merely one meter way from penetrating their bodies. Before they even had the chance to retaliate, the avatar stroke down gusts of compressed air into blades, cutting through the rocks.
"Are you cold?" mocked the avatar, "I'll warm you up with some fire!" with her two hands, Korra produced two streams of fire, the fire intertwined into each other. She took in a few deep breaths, the flame grew to the size of a comet, then, she launched the moving furnace of cremation to her opponents.
Ghazan countered the heat with more heat, as he melted the earth around him, blocking the flames with waves of lava. The metalbenders turned the earth nearby into sand, putting off Korra's fire. The avatar didn't ease off the attack, she propel herself into the air with jets of fire under her feet. As she landed onto the ground, she created a strong current of air around her radius, knocking the earthbenders off of their feet.
Korra quickly sank the ground beneath Suyin. Then, the avatar constricted the earth around Suyin's body, attempting to suffocate the Great Uniter.
Kuvira immediately created a fissure on the ground, saving Suyin from being buried alive. Then, she launched shards of metal to the avatar, forcing Korra to respond to the attack, creating the time needed for Suyin to regain her footing.
"You put yourself into this, Colonel." Korra said coldly as she blew away the shrapnel with a gust of wind. She charged to the metalbender, bobbing and weaving under the metal shards. When she was in close quarter range with Kuvira, she unleashed an extremely pressurized stream of fire.
Flames surrounded them, when the smoke cleared out, Ghazan, Ming Hua and Suyin saw the avatar, the sleeves of her clothes were burned to ashes, the rest of her clothing tattered. Her arms and her face were singed, but otherwise she was intact.
The Platinum-bender weren't so lucky. She managed to assemble an earth armour before the flame hits. However, the pressure was so high, and the flame was released at such a close distance that it managed to destroy a considerable portion of the armour. Her uniform was covered in dust, there was a major burn on her right leg, the skin was literally melted off by the fire. Despite all of these, Kuvira managed to keep her stance.
"You have earned my respect, Colonel." Korra spoke, nobody was able to recognize her tone. "I failed to conquer Ba Sing Se, but I win the battle against you, fair and square." she faced the rest of her opponents: Ghazan and Suyin were panting as they had depleted all of their stamina, Ming Hua was recovering from the liver shot. "Even without the avatar state, I can still destroy you."
A platoon of Earth Republic's mechasuits are closing in, with a circular motion of her hand, the avatar generated a powerful lighting. The electricity deflected on the metal armours, overloading the machines' power supplies, and disabled all of them in a matter of seconds. "be careful, next time you weren't be so lucky." She spoke before she left. With a stomp of her foot, she created a wave of earth, carrying herself away from the battlefield.
