Final Chapter
Jaken cleaned the table and kitchen from dinner.
When Sesshomaru came back down, he was on a business call.
Never having finished his meal, Kanna began to move around the kitchen, catching Rin's attention.
"Hey, Kanna? What ya doing?" Rin asked even though she knew the answer.
"Hm?" Kanna lowered her glasses and glanced at Rin. "Preparing boss food. He never really ate at dinner. And even though he doesn't look it, boss loves to eat. I know he's starving; salad does not fill him. Ever! So I'm making a club sandwich with some chips I know he likes. He's probably gonna eat the chips later since he doesn't like people to know he's eating when he's on the phone." Kanna said, pulling the items for his meal out.
"Oh, I see. How about if I fix him a plate of the food I made? He never really had a chance to eat?" Rin said nervously.
"I don't think that'd be a good idea. First off, he's not gonna be in the mood for your food anymore. Like he would've eaten the whole table earlier had he not gotten upset and embarrassed. Secondly, he doesn't like to eat complicated foods when he's on the phone. He prefers things easy to hold, drop and bite into. Thirdly your kinda giving his family the idea that you like him, which I already know the deal between you guys, but boss likes to keep things from his family when they aren't serious. He doesn't like to give the kids the idea that there is anyone special when there isn't." Kanna set everything for Sesshomaru's sandwich on the countertop.
Rin looked down, hurt and humiliated.
She took in a deep breath and exhaled her anger.
"Kagome?! I'm sorry if my trying to be close to Mr. Inuyashas brother offended you. But I did not like being told not to try and be close with someone. I have been joking, playing, and watching these kids with him for a whole month! He saved my life from drowning, for Christ sake! I should have said something earlier, but I didn't, and I feel horrible about that I truly do. I'm sorry. But that's not ok with me... And yous can fire me if this bothers you. Sesshomaru! I know your on the phone, and you don't want to be bothered...But I'd really like to fix you a plate of the food I made... After hearing it was your favorite and it being my fault why you couldn't eat, it didn't sit well with me... I understand if you don't want to or if it didn't look good to you, but I know I cook amazing! And your moms even said that you would have loved it! Please can I fix it for you? I've never felt so out of place before, and I just don't want to be told who or what I can or can not like or do or wha-" Rin was silenced from her outburst.
She gasped with the tears that threatened to fall and looked up to the man that called out to her.
"Nanny! Calm down? If it means that much to you, fine, I'll eat your food. Just have Kanna fix me a plate. Yeah, I gotta go, make sure it gets taken care of immediately." Sesshomaru hung up his phone.
"Rin? I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to make you feel so badly? Honest? I just know what Sesshomaru can be. And he was getting so angry. I was just afraid he'd scare you away. I didn't even think about how it would make you feel?" Kagome said honestly.
"We would never fire you; I mean, after all, we consider you to be family," Inuyasha said after.
"I'm sure it was all just a misunderstanding. Just ignore Sesshomaru an-" Toga was cut off.
"No! I am not going to ignore him! And don't act like this is all his fault! I am the one who made Momo think that way! Not him! Just, please...Please don't ask me to not like him. And don't tell me that I can't talk to him. I met him before this trip, and if I want to continue knowing him after, it shouldn't matter to you guys..." Rin said, stopping Kanna from setting a plate. "I'll do it." Rin insisted.
"Someone's feisty tonight?" Sesshomaru mocked.
"Don't be mean when I'm trying to stick up for you!" Rin said as she set the plates of food in front of him.
Sesshomaru's head spun, the smell of the food hitting him aggressively like the other night.
"Yeah, I'm not eating that." Sesshomaru pushed the plate away.
"What are you, a child!" Rin yelled. "You just said that if it meant this much to me, then you'd eat it?" Rin argued back.
"Ok, well, first of all, I don't trust you. Let's just get that straight. This could be poisoned for all I know. Secondly, I really can't eat this so late. Maybe three hours ago, yeah, but not now." Sesshomaru pushed the plate away again.
His family silently cursing him for acting this way.
"Tell me the real reason why! It's your favorite food? You were willing to eat it just a few minutes ago?" Rin asked, looking into his eyes.
Sesshomaru couldn't look at the food any longer, and it started to show on his face. "Kanna, can you?" Sesshomaru was stopped.
"Got it already, boss." Kanna set down his sandwich.
"Thank you, can you also?" Sesshomaru was given a drink by Kanna. "Thank you, do we?" Kanna set a separate plate of the chips he likes. "Thank you, Kanna." Sesshomaru was not all that shocked that Kanna had everything ready.
"I'm gonna turn in for the night. I'd like to spend my new year with Kohaku. Not you guys. Goodnight, boss." Kanna walked away.
Sesshomaru ate his food and waved off Kanna. Looking at Rin, saddened, he sighed.
"I can't because of my stomach." Sesshomaru bit into a quarter of his sandwich.
"Oh. Ok. I understand." Rin said, understanding that he didn't want to get sick again.
"What is she talking about, darling?" Inukimi asked, worried for her son.
"He means when Momo pooped everywhere. He got grossed out but won't admit it." Inuyasha huffed.
"Why wouldn't he? It'd be silly to hide something like that? He isn't use to that sort of thing." Inukimi defended her son.
"Do you think you'd be able to stomach dessert at least? I made a seven layer chocolate cake? Everyone else had a slice; they all loved it.." Rin asked with hurt in her eyes.
"If I'm honest, probably not. It shouldn't bother you so much, though. Honestly, I'm good." Sesshomaru finished his meal.
Rin sighed to herself. "Yeah, ok..."
Her whole plan had failed her miserably. And she only had this one night left with him.
"Come on, Sesshomaru, you can have one bite at least?" Inuyasha said.
"God, I hate you, people." Sesshomaru sighed out and took a small bite of Rins food. His senses running wild.
You are truly weak. Giving in so easily suits you, however. Enjoy regurgitating.
Sesshomaru cursed the fact that he'd begun talking to himself again.
His head throbbing with noises he felt he could hear miles away. His eyes strained in seeing the smallest details in the wood that surrounded him. His nose burning with the millions of scents around him.
"So not worth the headache, and by the way, you put way too much salt." Sesshomaru teased.
Rin smiled. "Sorry, you didn't like it? Want something to wash the taste out?" Rin smiled mischievously. "Like? Cake!" She presented the perfect slice.
Sesshomaru sighed in disgust. "You people are not actually forcing this are yous? I'm serious, guys. I really don't feel well!?" Sesshomaru said while Inuyasha and Kagome egged him on.
"Darling, what do you think could be wrong?" Inukimi worried.
"Oh, maybe it's because you aren't regular? Your father has that problem! I can get you some of his pills!" Izayoi offered.
"Seriously? What is with you people in thinking everything is resolved with a bowel movement?!" Inuyasha snapped.
Sesshomaru shook his head in disbelief in what kind of crazy evening he was having so far.
Sesshomaru grinned, embarrassed by his mother's statement. "No thanks ma, I think I'm good in that department." Sesshomaru took a bite that Rin offered him.
His stomach immediately flipped. "Rin, for the record, this has absolutely nothing to do with your food or cake, ok?" Sesshomaru said shakingly.
He covered his mouth and ran outside, upchucking yet again over the railing.
"Daddy, what happen to uncle sushi? Why is he throwing up?" Momo asked worriedly for her uncle.
"Oh no! Did nana Rin poison uncle sushi!" Uryu cried out.
"Whoa! Nana Rin is a bad guy..." Renji looked to Rin in shock.
"No! No, kids, come on now. Yous know nana Rin is good guy. She'd never hurt anyone!" Inuyasha tried to calm his confused children.
Rin ran out to him. As did his mothers.
"I'm so sorry! I should have listened? You ok?" Rin kneeled over to rub his back.
Your weakness becomes you. Perhaps it is better off; you do not keep this Rin as your mate. You are obviously incapable of providing any comforts to her. Nor would you be considered strong enough.
It suddenly dawned on Sesshomaru what was going on.
"Oh fuck! I gotta go!" Sesshomaru tried to run upstairs.
"Darling, where are you going? It's almost midnight? Where could you possibly need to run off to?" Inukimi stopped him.
Sesshomaru looked at his watch that read 11:58 pm.
"Alright, your right. I forgot for a moment..." Sesshomaru looked to Jaken, who showed him his shaving case.
Sesshomaru took it and brushed his teeth in the bathroom down the hall quickly.
"Are you ok, uncle sushi?" Momo looked at her uncle, worried.
Toga flipped on the channel to show a New Years' countdown.
"Yes, beautiful princess uncles, ok." Sesshomaru lifted Momo.
"Uncle sushi? You only hate bad people, right? Is that why you hate nana Rin?" Renji asked his uncle.
Sesshomaru sighed in frustration. "No, I don't hate your nana Rin. She's a good person. Ok?" Sesshomaru said, waiting for the clock to countdown.
"Ok, do you like nana Rin?" Momo asked her uncle.
Sesshomaru thought for a moment how to answer this question.
The whole family counted down excitedly. Kagome had lifted her two boys while Inuyasha grabbed Momo from Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru stood silent and looked to Rin. "Yes, I believe I may even love her..." Sesshomaru said in a whisper, answering his nieces forgotten question.
The family all cheered happy new year. Everyone sharing a hug and kiss. Sesshomaru shook his father's hand, hugged his brother and Kagome, and allowed both mothers to kiss him.
The kids all held onto their uncle, telling on how this was the best new year and Christmas they ever had.
After about 30 minutes of champagne and confetti, clean up, Inukimi and Izayoi took the kids to bed.
Toga said his goodnights to his three kids and went up to make love to his two beautiful wives.
Inuyasha and Kagome hung out with Sesshomaru downstairs for an hour before needing to head up themselves. Kagome grabbed a cold peach Snapple and went up the stairs hand in hand with her husband.
Jaken excused himself to ready Sesshomarus room for bed. Leaving only Rin and Sesshomaru downstairs alone.
Sesshomaru hesitantly kept his distance. Still hearing the annoying voice in his head.
"Happy new year..." Rin spoke quietly as she leaned against the kitchen counter.
"Yeah, same." Sesshomaru tried to remain calm even though the voice became annoyingly clear.
"Really? After everything? This is how it ends? I made all that food for you! I made that dessert for you! I did all this for you! I thought you were joking earlier with your father, and I thought you were just trying to keep it all a secret? But I guess it was real? You real-" Rin was cut off by a forceful kiss.
Sesshomaru held her face between his palms, crashing down upon her lips passionately.
He'd let much worse things happen before he'd ever allow Rin to believe he meant any of what he said.
Tonight he'd make sure to tell her, tell her that she has been a light in his world full of darkness. Tell her that he'd never want to live his life again without her. Tell her that he loved her.
She was the one, she was his, she was Rin, and that was all that mattered.
Rin kissed back just as passionately. Her hands made quick work to undress Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru lifted her up and sat her down on the countertop, never having broken from their kiss.
I will not allow you to take her; this Rin is within close resemblance to my mate. You are weak and unworthy of my Rins affection.
Sesshomaru cursed the voice in his head. Why couldn't it just stop!
As Rin began to lower the pants from his waist, Sesshomaru felt something snap inside him.
It's like he was struggling to remain in control of his own body.
I will not repeat myself. You will not claim her; I will not permit it.
Sesshomaru pulled away. His appearance was of frustration and annoyance.
Rin looked into Sesshomaru's golden eyes passionately. Seeing his frustration, she wondered what was wrong, but before she could voice it, Sesshomaru again claimed her lips.
He ignored the voice in his head and pushed forward with the only thing that brought him sanity.
Rin moaned into their kiss and wrapped her legs around his trim waist.
Sesshomaru didn't bother to remove any articles of her clothing. Hastily he removed himself from his pants and tugged her leggings and panties just low enough that he could enter her from behind.
He spun her against the counter and entered her.
Rin moaned out against the feeling. She didn't mind him being rough with her.
Sesshomaru kept pushing into her aggressively, trying to escape the voice within his head.
Are you so ignorant that you'd harm her?
Sesshomaru became more angered and, without realizing it, held Rin down with more force than he'd intended.
"Ow? Sesshomaru stop. Please, that hurts." Rin asked quietly.
Sesshomaru blocking out all noises and trying not to argue with the voice out loud, heard nothing, and continued.
She does not want you; her scent is not that of arousal.
"Sesshomaru, please, stop your hurting me." Rin became worried.
What was going on? Was he doing this on purpose? Was this revenge for embarrassing him in front of his family? Was it because she had forced him to taste her food?
Tears built in her eyes. Pain blocking out pleasure. "Sesshomaru, stop," Rin begged.
Sesshomaru kept thrusting at an aggressive speed; he would not allow this stupid voice to ruin the only good thing in his life. If she wanted sex with him, then that is exactly what he would give her!
"Sesshomaru, stop! No more, please!" Rin began crying now.
Can you not feel her discomfort? You are hurting this, Rin.
"Shut up!" Sesshomaru hissed angrily. He hadn't realized it came out from his mouth as he hoped he had only thought it.
Rin was horrified. She tried to slap his hand away from her waist and push herself up. It was no use as Sesshomaru was much stronger.
He arched forward with his final thrust releasing deep inside her.
Rin cried out. She was not alright, and now she questioned what was actually wrong with her. It's not like he wasn't blunt with how he felt.
He had said it to her on multiple occasions. So why'd she kept pursuing, forcing this kind of situation to happen?
She had egged him on; she had caused this. She had forced this upon herself.
Sesshomaru finally came back to reality. He looked down at the crying girl beneath him.
"Rin? Oh shit, what did I do? Rin, I'm-" Sesshomaru didn't finish.
"Stop! Just stop! I'm done with this! Don't touch me!" Rin pulled her clothes right and ran upstairs with tears.
Sesshomaru was horrified. What had he done? How could he have hurt her? He had to make it right!
He fixed himself and went after her; gently knocking on her door, he tried to convince Rin to let him in.
After hearing her sobs of pain, Sesshomaru dropped his head in shame. He became angered again and stormed into his bathroom in his room.
He glared angrily at the reflection in the mirror. "What the fuck is wrong with you! I know you're there!" Sesshomaru yelled.
The fault is your own. I spoke of the girl's discomfort repeatedly. It was you that lost yourself in self gratification.
"That's not true! I'd never hurt her!" Sesshomaru yelled back.
And yet you have. Both I and the girl voiced your recklessness, and yet you continued on until you found release. Pathetic.
"That was your fault! Why are you even here! I destroyed that damn thing the minute I got back! Just leave me alone!" Sesshomaru yelled at his reflection.
I am not the one who took her against her will. Even with being the most pathetic male specimen, I have ever witnessed. You should at least accept your own actions and take responsibility for them.
Sesshomaru gasped. Was that true? Did he force himself on her?
How could he have let that happen? Why now? Why when he finally had a chance at happiness?
Sesshomaru sank to the floor. He hated himself; he hated what he had done.
Morning came, and Sesshomaru was downstairs all night waiting for Rin.
He had to make things right with her.
His whole family had come down at their own pace; he greeted each one as he would normally. Rin had missed breakfast, and that twisted Sesshomaru to his core.
When she finally did come down, her bags were packed, and her face read terror.
"Hey, Rin? What's going on? We missed you at breakfast?" Kagome asked.
"Hey, everything ok?" Inuyasha asked, seeing her bags in hand.
"Yeah, I just gotta get home. My mother was admitted in the hospital she works at. One of the nurses she works with called me. I should really be with her right now." Rin lied. She refused to raise her head.
She didn't want to risk seeing him.
"Oh no? What happen? Is she ok?" Kagome looked worriedly to her husband.
"We can take you? We'll all leave today instead of tomorrow." Inuyasha offered.
"No! Please! I just mean...I don't want to ruin Momo and Kagome's birthday. Please, it's fine. I already called a cab. I'll see you guys when yous get home." Rin smiled.
Sesshomaru knew she was lying. He hated himself for everything he had done.
"Are you sure? I mean, it's no big deal?" Inuyasha tried to convince her.
A car horn honked from outside.
Toga and his wives reluctantly said their goodbyes. Offering one last time to take her.
Rin said her goodbyes to the kids and the family she worked for. She refused their offers to take her home.
Once outside, Sesshomaru walked out; knowing his family was still watching, he tried to speak as much as Rin would permit.
"Rin, I." Sesshomaru was stopped.
"I'm sorry. I got upset last night for no reason, really. I made you think this whole time I was ok with stuff like that. You didn't do anything wrong. Can we just not anymore, though? I really just want to focus on myself back home? So you know, just don't tell anyone?" Rin asked. She still hadn't looked at him.
Sesshomaru felt broken; of all things he had hoped to hear, that wasn't one of them.
"I'm sorry. It wasn't-" Sesshomaru was again cut off.
"Please just keep it between us?" Rin asked, forcing a smile up at him. "It was just messing around anyway. None of us were in it for more, ok?" Rin lied but kept her smile.
Sesshomaru didn't know if her words or actions hurt him more. Of course, she wouldn't want more. What could she possibly see in him past his age?
She was young, beautiful, ambitious, and had a love for life. He had money. And she was not a materialistic woman. At that moment, he felt like the poorest man in the world.
"Yeah, of course..." Sesshomaru couldn't hide his hurt.
Rin didn't give much thought; he was probably just feeling guilty. Rin got into her cab, and that was that.
Sesshomaru walked back in, feeling smaller than anything.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. She'll be fine. You may not believe it. But that young woman is very resilient. She can make it home on her own." Inukimi comforted.
Sesshomaru agreed, mindlessly getting back to his family.
They all celebrated and enjoyed their last day at the resort as a family. There was no tension, no trouble, no misunderstandings.
The next day they all took off, heading home. Sesshomaru promised to ride with the kids back, making he and his brother bond more.
Once at Inuyasha's home, the adults all sat up and talked in Inuyasha's small living room.
The kids were tucked away in bed, and there were matters that need be discussed.
"Mom, c'mon? I thought you and dad were past all of that?" Inuyasha said worriedly.
"No, darling boy, something like that does not get swept under my rug so easily. I simply put up with it for my grandchildren's sake. Despite what Toga may think. Sesshomaru, if it is no bother to you, of course?" Inukimi asked while ignoring Togas pleas.
"Kimi, I am not gonna allow this. You are not going with him! And that's final! Sesshomaru, why are you trying to cause trouble?!" Toga angrily accused in a whisper.
"I had nothing to do with this? It's your dumbass that caused this problem!" Sesshomaru retorted angrily.
Before Toga could cause a riot, Inukimi silenced them both.
"I am not going to tolerate this any longer! I am tired, and I do not feel well. Sesshomaru, please, if we could go back to your home now, leave your father alone. And I'm sorry for dragging you into this. Can we all please just remain civil for young Momos birthday in a few weeks?" Inukimi said, standing between both men.
"Yes, that's fine. Inuyasha, I'll see you Saturday. Don't tell them, though, please?" Sesshomaru smiled.
"You sure? I know they'll love it, but if your busy, you don't have-" Sesshomaru cut off Inuyasha by hugging him.
"I don't have to do anything; I want to do this. Please?" Sesshomaru smiled. "Take care Kags, I'll see you Saturday." Sesshomaru kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly.
"K! See you then! Love you!" Kagome smiled along with Inuyasha.
"Oh Kimi, I wish you'd change your mind...We will talk later. Call me." Izayoi held her friend's hands.
"Of course, my love," Inukimi spoke with tears.
Sesshomaru opened the car door for her, closing it behind. He said goodbye to Izayoi, kissing her on her cheek and promising he'll take care of Inukimi.
"I'll talk to her. I'll try and get her home sooner, pop." Sesshomaru said to his father.
Toga nodded. "I'm sorry, Sesshomaru. Thank you. Drive carefully, ok? Call me when you get home." Toga hugged his son.
"Alright. You guys too. Get home safe." Sesshomaru waved off as he got in the car to go home.
He and his mother the only two who knew the true reason Inukimi was leaving.
Eight long months had passed since Sesshomaru had last seen Rin.
The constant reminder of her from the kids around him.
Sesshomaru hated that Rin had made excuses not to see him on the days he'd pick up the kids or even come by the next day when he dropped them off and stayed for dinner.
She missed holidays that Kagome had said she'd always attended and even special events if Sesshomaru was there. She was avoiding him at all cost, and Sesshomaru honestly didn't blame her.
He didn't give too much, thought, as he was walking through a back alleyway leaving the hospital.
Inukimi had been admitted for the second time in the past eight months. Her condition was getting increasingly worse.
Sesshomaru sighed to himself as he walked away. His mind filled with the images of his mother hooked up to machines. He was worried and took his phone out to call other doctors to find answers.
Not having been paying attention to where he was walking out of the alleyway, he bumped into a very pregnant and very young woman.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going, an-" The girl stopped speaking. "Sesshomaru.." Her voice familiar, Sesshomaru looked to her.
"Rin?! Rin your? I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going? Are you alright? Let me help you." Sesshomaru leaned down to pick up fallen envelopes she was carrying.
"It's fine. I can get it myself. Don't worry about it." Rin was flustered and nervous. She held on to the side of her stomach as she felt a sharp pain. "Oh, come on! Give me a break!" Rin yelled into the street.
"I'm sorry? I was just trying to help." Sesshomaru spoke, annoyed. He understood that he was wrong; he accepted that.
But he wasn't the bastard that knocked her up, and he was just trying to be polite. He had listened to her and complied with what she asked.
"No, not you. My baby likes to kick me when I'm down...literally...Ugh, how are you? Why are you lurking in alleyways? You look good? I probably look terrible." Rin suddenly became very aware of her awkward appearance.
"I was trying to leave the hospital without getting bothered by reporters. I had to check my mother in again. You look fine. Don't, please." Sesshomaru stopped her from trying to fix herself.
Rin blushed. "I'm sorry about Kimi. You ok?" Rin asked.
"Yeah, no, she'll be fine. She's beaten it before, so...Ugh, here. These are yours. I made you drop them...Sorry again, by the way. Oh, and congratulations on you know." Sesshomaru jested to her stomach.
Rin blushed even more. She looked at the papers. Sesshomaru was offering her and curled his hands around it so he could keep it.
"Actually, those were for you... I was on my way to send them to you...It's an invitation to my baby shower..." Rin said, playing with the hem of her t-shirt.
"Oh? Thank you...when is it?" Sesshomaru looked broken.
"Next month. I wanted to do it a few days before the baby's due date... Umm Sesshomaru, I ugh would like it if you read the invitation. I wrote it special for you..." Rin said through sharp breaths.
"You ok?" Sesshomaru looked to the obviously in pain girl.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just cramps, I guess." Rin groaned in pain.
"Yeah? I don't think so? You should go to the er or something? You don't look too good?" Sesshomaru said, not sure of what to do.
"Oh, that's real nice of you! Geez, don't you know what to say to a pregnant woman! Why do you have to be such a jerk! OW! Oh my god!!" Rin yelled.
"Ok! Seriously? You need to get to a doctor because it's either you just pissed yourself or your water just broke? And how am I being a jerk?" Sesshomaru yelled back.
"Oh my god! Sesshomaru, your right! Help me, asshole; I'm going into labor!" Rin yelled, holding her stomach.
Sesshomaru nervously looked for a cab or something, anything!
"Alright? Can you walk? What do I do? I've never dealt with pregnant people before!? I can call someone for you?" Sesshomaru asked nervously.
Rin screamed as she felt the biggest contraction ever pull through her body. Almost falling to the floor, Sesshomaru quickly held her up.
Rin began to cry in pain, squeezing Sesshomaru's arm until it passed.
"Wow! That hurts; if you could stop, that'd be great!" Sesshomaru lifted Rin. "Ok? Just keep it inside you for a little while longer. This way is really quick!" Sesshomaru cradled her in his arms and ran to the hospital through the alleyway he had come from.
"My baby is not an IT, you asshole! AHHHH!" Rin screamed.
"Whatever! I don't know what the fuck is inside you!? Where's your husband! Or boyfriend or whatever the fuck the asshole responsible for knocking you up is to you! Where is he at!" Sesshomaru yelled angrily, still running with the heavier than he remembered woman.
"Your right; he is an asshole! A total jerk! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Rin screamed out again.
"Seriously, nanny? I can not deliver or help you with your baby thing?! So please try and dial it back, ok?!" Sesshomaru said nervously.
Rin began to beat on him, distracting herself from pain momentarily as she yelled at how stupid he sounded.
Sesshomaru, finally having made it to the hospital entrance, set Rin down and demanded that she be given some sort of medicine immediately.
"Oh! It looks like someone's ready to come out?" A kind nurse said, smiling. "Right this way." She pushed Rin in a wheelchair in the direction she needed to go.
Two other nurses guiding Sesshomaru to follow.
"Oh no! No, no. I don't belong there with her. It's a no, and I'm not family; she needs someone called for her!?" Sesshomaru protested.
The nurses insisted he follows anyway and continued to push him into the delivery room. They dressed him in all the sanitary gear and told him just to keep her comfortable.
"What! What the fuck are you people talking about!" Sesshomaru said nervously and angry.
He looked down at Rin and seen her worry and fear. He held her hand and tried to tell her it'll be ok. He then quickly dialed his sister in law and, panicking, told her to come quickly as her nanny was in labor.
Kagome promised that everyone was on their way.
"Sesshomaru?" Rin grunted. "I-I gotta tell you, AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I GOTTA TELL YOU SOMETHING!" Rin said while sweat dripped from her head.
"You're doing good, momma! Just one more, and your little bundle of joy will be rightfully in your arms!" The overly joyful and calm doctor said while barely seen from between Rins legs.
"Can it wait? You seem a bit busy right now?!" Sesshomaru tried to make her laugh.
Rin smiled and held his hand. She stopped being angry and smiled even through the pain.
He always made her smile; she always loved that about him.
"Sesshomaru, it wasn't supposed to be like this," Rin said through teary eyes. Rin felt a pain that burned through her whole body!
She pushed one last time with all her strength until the tiny cries of a little baby could be heard.
"Oh my god, that was single handedly the most disgusting thing I've ever witnessed..." Sesshomaru said out loud.
Rin watched as the women in front of her made quick work to clean, weigh and check her little bundle of joy. His cry's the sweetest noise Rin had ever heard.
"Congratulations, miss. He's a healthy baby boy. I'll let you get some rest." The nurse smiled and walked out.
Rin smiled down at the beautiful baby in her arms. He almost instantly stopped crying upon being given to his mother. Rin allowed the few tears of complete joy to escape her.
"Hi, there little guy? You're so handsome. Just like your father.." Rin sighed and felt a pain in her heart.
"I can call him for you if you give me the number...He should be here with you..." Sesshomaru looked at the picture before him.
How desperately he had wanted this, he had wanted it for so many years. And he completely blew his chance. Now some other man would have this, this perfect love and happiness.
"You don't have to call anyone...His father is already here.." Rin looked, wiping away tears.
"He works here?" Sesshomaru asked. Of course, she found some cute young doctor.
"No, he is you...I was going to tell you. I was just afraid you were going to think I did it on purpose...I don't expect anything from you! I can handle everything on my own! I just...I just thought maybe you'd like to be a part of his life maybe..." Rin said sadly. She looked to Sesshomaru for his answer.
Sesshomaru stared at her in shock. His mouth hung open, and his eyes fixated on the people before him.
Soon Kagome, Inuyasha, Toga, and Izayoi came through the door.
"Hey! We're here! You ok, Rin!" Kagome ran into her.
"Sesshomaru? Hey, you ok?" Inuyasha looked at his speechless brother.
"Well? Say something?" Rin looked to Sesshomaru, ignoring everyone in the room.
Sesshomaru could only smile, even with his mouth still hanging open. "I'm? You mean he's?" Sesshomaru looked with a tear falling from his eye.
Rin smiled and nodded.
Sesshomaru leaned in closer to her and his apparent son. He couldn't hide his happiness, nor did he want to.
"I'm a father." Sesshomaru said with pride. "Can I?" He asked Rin with his eyes.
"Yes, of course!" Rin smiled. Handing her tiny baby to Sesshomaru.
"Hi? Hi there. I'm going to love you forever!" Sesshomaru smiled.
His heart over filled when his son wrapped five fingers around his one. He looked up to his father. He was smiling and crying in front of his family happily.
"Dad, I have a son." Sesshomaru showed off.
His family surrounded him in Hugs and congratulations. No one dared ask about what happened between the two now as there was always time for that later.
Right now, it was a moment of shared love and happiness. Sesshomaru even had his mother's bed rolled into Rins room once she was moved so that Inukimi could hold her first grandchild.
All was right with the Taisho family as they all pined over the new member.
Sesshomaru begged Rin to allow him to be a part of his son's life. He begged her to move in with him! Not as his lover, or girlfriend, or wife. She'd still have her independence. He just didn't want to spend a single night away from his son.
And Sesshomaru said it with pride and love. His son. He'd give him the world and more.
No longer would he stare out windows alone, no longer would he stay late hours into work. He had a family of his own now. And he loved them more than anything in this world.
Toga happily watched his family. He gathered everyone together, informing that he wanted a picture. Just as everyone finished posing and the photo was taken, Togas cell rang.
"Hello?" Toga stepped out of the room to answer.
"Don't think I'd let this go, Toga? If I go down? I'm taking your precious family with me." A dark voice said over the other end, immediately hanging up.
Toga looked through the doorway with worry.
What had he done?
