Chapter 31-Hannah

Hannah did feel terribly and she felt like the tubal pregnancy and losing a fallopian tube was her punishment for what she had done to her dad and for trusting Todd. At least her dad was being good to her, even comforting. He had taken it upon himself to make sure she ate decent meals. He also let her hold Joy as much as she wanted, which seemed to help. Something about Joy's smiles was cathartic. She just wished things were fixed with her dad. That hurt.

He was gone a lot, trying to figure out why the associates were doing what they were doing and Todd's connection to it. There was still tension between them and Hannah felt an odd tension between her parents. She figured it had to do with her. One day; she found her mom looking at old picture albums. Hannah sat down next to her, and looked at one of her, Katie, and Lucas when they were young.

"I remember that." Hannah remarked.

"Yeah; you were about six." Christine said as she turned the page to a picture of her and Mike on their fifteenth wedding anniversary. He was wearing a suit and she was wearing a nice dress.

"This is a nice picture of you two." Hannah said.

"Yeah. Hard to believe in a few days, we will be celebrating twenty-five years." Christine remarked.

"What? Mom, that's a big deal." Hannah said.

"If our marriage was normal, yes." Christine answered.

"It isn't? You had all of us fooled. You guys need to go out, have a nice dinner or something." Hannah said.

"Your dad is busy and we have the twins and Joy." Christine objected.

"Katie and I will watch the twins and Joy. And I'll talk to Dad." Hannah told her before kissing her cheek and walking off. Later that night, when Mike got home, Hannah swallowed her fear of talking to her dad, and approached him. "Dad, Mom told me your twenty-fifth anniversary was coming up." Hannah said and Mike looked at a calendar on the wall.

"Yeah, Friday." Mike answered.

"I was thinking; Katie and I could watch the twins and Joy; if you and Mom want to go out. For dinner or something. It would be really nice for Mom." Hannah suggested.

"You feel up to that?" Mike asked.

"Yeah. I would be fine and Katie will be here. I already asked her and she doesn't have plans." Hannah answered.

"Alright. I'll see if I can get reservations tomorrow; if I have time. We have some interviews." Mike told her.

"How about I make the reservations and the rest of the plans?" Hannah asked.

"I guess if you want to?" Mike asked.

"I do. Thanks, Dad." Hannah said before giving her dad a kiss on the cheek and going back to her bedroom. If Mike was upset or surprised, he never said a word and Hannah had something to concentrate on.
