Sonny's POV

The dance was finally here but of course Marty is still playing hard to get, so once I arrived at the dance, I saw Tom at the entrance. "Sup jocky." I said to him and looked around to see the gym all decorated, hmm not bad! Just then I saw Marty walking in with…Leo?! So she would rather be with that woman-beater than a nice guy like me. ARE YA SERIOUS!? Ok Sonny, stay cool! "Hey, Marty, you're looking good." I told her.

She wasn't even making eye contact with me.

"You're feeling good, too, huh?" I asked her.

"Sonny, there he is. Look, that's Vince Fontaine." She said looking at a celebrity Vince Fontaine, he's cool but I heard he's a pervert.

"Yeah, I've seen better heads on a mug of beer." I joked.

"Would you grow up? He's the living end." She said.

I stared at her dumbfounded.

"Yeah, if you like older guys." I said to her.

I walked away from her. I don't believe this! I don't understand chicks like her! So I brought out my whisky and drank it.

"Unbelievable." I said to myself.

I drank again and after a while I saw Danny and Sandy together.

"At least Sandy sees the good in Zuko." I mutter to myself.

"Aright, kids. I want a big circle. C'mon on boys and girls, we are going on the air very shortly. But first, some warm-up numbers with Johnny Casino and the Gamblers." The guy from the national bandstand said announced, he ushers us all in a big circle which gives a very huge space in the gym, he says and we all cheered loudly excited to be on television nationwide. So they started to play and I pulled Frenchy for a dance. We danced to throughout the music.

But to be honest, I wasn't having fun at all. I want too, but I just…ugh! Sonny, will ya man-up ya idiot! I was gonna go talk to Marty, but stopped to see that pervert talking to Marty. Great!

"Creep." I muttered.

I started to feel buzz now and I walked up to the table with the punches, foods and cup. I sneakily pour some of the whisky in the punch bowl.

"What are you doing?" Mr. Lynch asked.

"Washing my hands." I lied as I put my sunglasses on.

I looked over to see Doody and Frenchy, groaning a little. Great, 4 of my bestest friends got dates and not me!

"Let's go Sonny. We're gonna the stroll." I heard Doody said to me.

"W-why are we-we doing on the s-st-stoll? Hehe, I just said wewe." I giggled.

I felt Doody put his hand on my shoulder as Frenchy held my arm.

"Forget her, try having fun." He told me.

"Marty." I grumbles.

I heard Frenchy whispers in my ear, "You're amazing Sonny. Don't you forget that." I just nodded a little.

So we went to the line, one for boy and for girl. It's a dance were a couple comes down the line while we dance. After a few couples, it's our turn. As we start walk dancing down. It was Doody and Frenchy turns, they stood back in the line to see more people coming and then it was Tom and Blanche, so I stood behind them.

"When I hear music, I just can't make my feet behave." I heard Blanche said.

"Thinks she's Tinker Bell." I said to Tom.

Hush, Sonny." Blanche said to me.

Then she up the stage to shush everyone and shouts "The Rydell fight song!" Most of the student body cheered, except us. I was like... Ok... Let's go with the new arrangement to the song we hate so much and then McGee and couch Calhoun walked down the hall to the front and climbed up to the stage.

"When you're finished." She said.

A voice in the crowd shouted, "We're finished!"

She continues, "You will be happy to know that I am not judging the dance contest." We started cheering. "I think we owe a round of applause to Patty Simcox and Eugene Felisnick and committee for their beautiful decorations!"

"LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE TOILET PAPER!" I shout out loud and got everyone else cheering again.

Again, she continues, "In a few moments, the entire nation will be watching Rydell High." She sighs, "God help us. And I want you all to be on your best behavior."

I shouted, "NO HEINIE BITING!" And they all laugh again.

"And now, here he is, the prince of the platters, Mr. Vince Fontaine!" Miss McGee announced as McGee shouted his name again, and he comes down the middle with a bunch of crazy fans jumping at him and touching him. He comes up on stage and then starts doing his famous kicks to the drum beat sound. We all started screaming.

"Hi kids! Hey, it's great to be here at Rydell High! What's your name sweetheart?" He asks McGee, and we all laugh again.

She comes back to the mic. "Now, for the rules." Oh great. There are rules.

A guy in the crowd shouted. "Up the rules!"

Couch Calhoun came back to the mic and recites, "Game rule one. All couples must be boy-girl." Putzie push Eugene who is next to us and shouts, "Aw! Too bad Eugene!" We laughed again.

Poor Felisnik. hahah!

"Alright! Alright! Alright! Come on!" Couch Calhoun continues, "Game rule two, during the dance contest, if you're tapped on the shoulder, you must leave the floor immediately, or else. I mean it."

And McGee took the mic to finish, "And rule three, anyone doing tasteless, or vulgar movements, will be disqualified." Then we start booing and I gave them a thumb down.

Rizzo is with the guy's arms around her waist and she says, "That leaves us out." Again, we started laughing while McGee gives her a dirty look.

Couch Calhoun asked them, "Can we keep it clean, please? Let's keep it clean."

The same guy from before rushes past him, "20 seconds!"

Vince takes the mic and says quickly as possible. "Thank you fans and friends, odds and ends and now for you gals and guys, a few words to the wise. You Jim and Sals are my best pals. And to look your best for the big contest, just to be yourselves and have a ball. That's what it's all about after all! So forget about the camera, and think about the beat. We'll give the folks at home a real big treat. Don't worry about where the camera is, just keep on dancin, that's your biz. Hey if I tap your shoulder move to the side. Let the others finish the ride!"

"Ten seconds!" We heard.

"Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five! Four! Three! Two! One!" Bam! We're now officially live on television!" Vince talks to the camera. "Hello! Welcome to National Bandstand, coming to you live from Rydell high school! This is the event you've all been waiting for, the national dance off. And away we go with Johnny Casino and the gamblers." Then they started playing "Hound Dog" by Elvis. We all got into dancing positions and soon the others follow saying hi to their families on camera. Soon we got back to dancing with the cameras rolling around us. As the song ends, Vince comes back the camera. "Now to the event you've all been waiting for, the 'National dance off!' Some lucky guy and gal is gonna go bopping home with some fabulous prizes. But don't feel bad if I bump you out, cause it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's what you do with your dancing shoes. Hey does everybody here know Marty?" He added. "Ok cats! Throw your mittens around your kittens, and away we go!" And quick as soon as the music started, we immediately started dancing. Just then we Kenickie came sliding behind Patty and pulling up her dress making us laughed. Sandy and Danny start coming to the middle dancing, and they're the only couples left in the competition that's weren't eliminated. I realized that I was more drunk than ever! So I stupidly follow Danny and Sandy behind, then pulled Sandy away from Danny.

"Sonny!" She screamed.

We both saw Cha-Cha stealing Danny away, oh no. I turned back to Sandy who ran out of the gym.

"No, Sandy wait!" I called out as I ran out of the gym.

But she was gone.

"Great." I muttered.

Then I saw Doody running out of the gym.

"Sonny!" He called out.

"My God leave me alone." I cried.

I was more upset that the kid probably saw some tears in my eyes, great! I can't cry! Not Sonny LaTierri!

"Sonny, look I know you're hurting man…" He started. "But you just took Sandy away from Zuko and let Cha Cha get away to dance with Danny!"

"I just wanna go home." I just said him, feeling mix of emotions. Anger, sadness, betray and…heartbroken!

"Tell ya what," Doody said putting his hands on my shoulders. "When they play "Blue Moon", we'll moon the America."

"And I'm the drunk one." I giggled.

I saw him rolled his eyes at me.

"Let's go." He said pulling my arm as we went back in the gym.

He got Putzie's attention and he came walking over to us.

"What's up?" He asked.

"We're gonna moon the America?" He told him.

"Moon? I don't know guys." He answers.

"Come on, don't be such a wimp." I giggled.

I saw Putzie rolled his eyes.

"Fine!" Putzie said giving up.

Then they both grabbed my arm and drag me over to the bleacher.

"Where's Marty?" I asked.

"Don't worry, she's in good hands." Doody told me.

"Who?" Putzie asked.

Dude! That creep is a perv!

"Well I didn't know." He said.

Putzie puts on my coat on, as Doody put Putzie's on and puts his coat on me.

"Ok, come on guys." Doody ordered.

Then we ran over where the camera was and I countdown to 3, and we all mooned the America and we can hear people laughing. Now this is funny, but stupid! But it's funny to cheer me up…kind of though.

"Kay, let's go!" Then we all ran out of the gym pulling our pants up.

Doody and I ran down couple of blocks, we noticed that Putzie wasn't with us.

"Ya Putz." I heard Doody mutters.

"Oooh." I moaned as I fell to the ground muttering to myself. "Doody, I'm gonna die alone aren't I?" I asked.

"Don't you dare say that Martin!" Doody scolded at me.

"Hey, only Danny calls me that!" I argued looking up.

"I don't care!" He yelled. "You know, to be very honest! I am getting fed up with these creeps in the world and the Pink Ladies, expect Frenchy and Jan!"

I looked down, the kid ain't wrong though! I'm surprise Frenchy and Jan hangs out with them chicks! Well I am still a little angry with Frenchy breaking my Howdy Doody's heart though.

"Look at you, you're drowning yourself in your own sorrow." He added. "Sonny look at me, you are no scumbag or a greaseball."

I looked at him again.

"You are the greatest guy I've ever known!" He told me.

"You know I don't like people yelling." I stated.

I heard him let out a sigh and sit down next to me.

"I'm sorry Sonny, it's just…" He started as he puts his arm around me. "It kills me the way she is treating you." I just looked at the grass.

"No, it's my fault." I said softly.

"For what?" He asked. "For being a great guy?" I just let out a sigh again.

"Sonny! Doody!" We looked over to see Danny in his car. "Sonny, you ok?"

Danny got out of his car as I stood behind Doody when we stood up, fearing that Zuko might be upset with me. Hey, I was drunk, lay off ehh!

"Sonny, are you ok?" He asked me.

"You don't hate me?" I asked.

"Of course not. The only person I hate is me." He said.

"Zuko, please don't say that." Doody said. "It's anyone's fault, it's Cha Cha." He just nods a little. "It's likely that she only used Kenickie." He added.

"True." He said as they looked over at me. "We better get you home Sonny-Boy, come on." Danny said as they helped me in the car as I laid down in the back seat and then I felt so tired.

"Mmmh." I moaned a little.

Before I knew I fell asleep, and woke up to someone shaking me.

"Mmm, mommy 5 more minutes please." I groaned.

"Sonny, we're home." I heard Danny said.

I open my eyes to see that I was in Danny's car.

"C'mon." Danny said draping my arm around his neck.

He shuts his door.

"Danny," I started. "And I'm…really that…awful?"

I tried not sound like I was crying, but probably failed.

"Are you crying?" He asked, grabbing my chine. "Listen to me Martin, you are awesome and the greatest guy I know." I just sniffed. "You are a great kid."

"I'm just gonna…go to bed." I told him.

I was gonna go in until I heard Danny called out, "Hey LaTierri!" I turned to him. "Screw that chick! You're an awesome kid!" I just nodded to him and went inside.
