The Brother Gods
Long ago, when Mortis fell, many beings were born. Powerful and dangerous beings, including an ancient wandering dragon. One that would split itself into two beings, the Brother Gods of Light and Darkness.
The Brothers are two ancient and powerful beings, and wield considerable might, being 'descendants' of the Mortis God siblings themselves. Wielding light, dark, creations and destruction, and being immortal with countless abilities ranging from magic to the ability to transform themselves and are capable of destroying entire worlds. However, despite wielding the aspects of the Son and Daughter, there was no Father to aid in balancing them properly. Due to this, the two fought countless battles, butting heads and bickering. Pondering who was the original God that was before them, and attacked the other which usually ended in leaving a great trail of destruction around them.
Despite their arguments however, due to their own aspects, they did feel familiarship with one another, and only ever felt complete when together. Thus after eons of fighting, the two sought to make an agreement. One day, they would notice an insignificant planet together during their travels across the dimension, which held life in the form of many cats that could summon tentacles out of their mouths and held a pocket dimension in their tummies. This sight inspired them to make their own world, and their own populace, though naturally, they decided to make these residents to be more normal animals.
Though despite working together, the two still fought with Darkness himself creating the Creatures of Grimm, to counteract his brothers own creations. However, the two once more entered another solution, and created humans to help them out, and for a time, things were well.
Of course this would change later, as while the two Brothers liked their creations of humans, they did have some issues with their creation. For Light, he constantly couldn't understand why humans, despite having the capability of doing so much good, they always ended up in wars with one another. For Darkness, despite blessing them with his own magic, and never once harming them, disliked how they treated him as an evil God and always went to his brother with no faith in him.
Then a young woman Salem came, who went and deceived both Gods, despite having been told they would not resurrect her lover. Where she would then gather an army of countless nations to band together and attack them. The Brothers would feel great disappointment in this, as both have done nothing but aid humanity, and yet they would attack them, attempt to kill them, all because of the lies and schemes of one woman.
This would also serve as the breaking point for Darkness, who decided to punish them all and use his powers to wipe all of humanity in one move with no effort. The world Light and Dark resided in becoming humanless and a Remnant of what it once was. Then proceeded to leave Salem on the planet with Dark shattering the moon in the process.
Still, despite leaving the two would leave seeds to start the next generation of humanity with Light creating four powerful Relics that could help rebuild humanity and call upon them again. However, as Light told Ozma, if humans-and the newly born faunus-cannot learn to get along, then the two will ensure the planet stays gone.
The Brothers have then left to parts unknown….
"So, here we are gathered again, with another problem." The Black Guardian grinned as he overlooked the earth, and all the new problems cropping up. "I don't suppose now is the time for violence to be used, shall it?"
"No. And I doubt it'll happen any time soon." The Green Guardian states. "We're here for another problem." A vision then shows up. "This." A vision showing none other than a completely different realm. One that shows a world different from earth, a different path, but held some similar aspects. Mainly, Grimm.
"This isn't good." The Gold Guardian says as the vision shows the countless Grimm on this dimension, slaughtering a village. "Earth already has enough Grimm as it is. But this latest tear from Van Kleiss has connected it to a world where there are more Grimm than people."
"Indeed." The Diamond Guardian says as the vision leaves. "The Grimm of this forgotten world are far more numerous than even earth. And if Sammael finds it, well, he's certain to enjoy the perks of a limitless army."
"Now, now. Let's not get ahead of ourselves." The Guardian of Time smiles. "Aside from maybe a few, Sammael has no idea that two dimensional portals connect to this limitless army, and potential baddies to team-up with."
"Pretty sure he'll team up with her however." The White Guardian then says, as a new vision shows Salem. "Out of curiosity, what are her chances of messing things up?" The powerful being looks at the Azure Guardian, who decides to oblige.
"Her and her lot have a 1.9 percent chance of doing any dark impact."
"That's...a lot lower than I expected." The Gold Guardian says.
"She's powerful, but not by much in the grand scheme of things." The Green Guardian responds, as despite Salem's own abilities, earth held far more greater threats with deadlier powers.
"Not to mention the fact she doesn't even want to stay here." The Azure Guardian chuckles, as the next vision shows none other than Watts with a few bandits forced to help make build a few parts. "Since she has no intention of staying, then her chances of causing destruction is a lot lower than it should be."
"But if she does stay, and actually fight, then what will happen?" The Black Guardian asks, with the Azure Guardian sighing as he then shows everyone of a potential future, where Salem stayed and somehow manages to win. Showing earth...or what's left of it, having a massive hole in it, no people or even trees in sight, with the land being utterly lifeless with only Grimm around.
"So what's this story here?" The Green Guardian looks at the Azure Guardian, who decided to explain.
"In this timeline, Salem manages to outwit all the other villains, played them and the heroes like pawns, but was absorbed by Sammael and trapped within him...where she then overwhelmed his will and did the reverse to him." The Azure Guardian shrugs while saying this. "Took over his body, reformed it into her own, and then went back to her world and gathered the Relics to summon the Brothers, where she used a deadly weapon to attack them."
"I assume she failed." The Gold Guardian simply states.
"She was close." A new vision shows the Brother of Light crippled. "Unfortunately, she missed, and the Brothers decided to decimate her mind, while also turning the planet earth into that while animating Remnant." Another vision then shows Sammael, who had regained his body with Salem's mind destroyed, and just building...a ship.
"What...is he doing?" The White Guardian looked at Sammael working along with others like Nyx, a few Fallen, Dracon, and others both good and bad. None of them even fighting, just working on something.
"Well," The Guardian then says. "After the Brothers turned earth like that, all living beings from humans, mobians, faunus, all the way to even animals and bacteria ended up dying out. Only those who are immortal, machines, and whatnot lived. And with everything they know and care for gone, those who remained decided to just work together and travel among the stars."
Of course, this was just a possible future. While very, very unlikely to happen, it'd be best if Salem just went back to her home world without problem. Of course, there was technically still a problem.
"If Sammael manages to go to Remnant, it'd be quite bad for him to find the Relic of Knowledge." The White Guardian then says.
"Oh yeah, that." The Black Guardian laughs. "He finds that, he can ask where the remaining Spiral Gems are and boom, he wins."
"Which is why," The Azure Guardian stands up. "I'll be finding the Brothers and see if I can get their...assistance."
"That won't be easy." The Diamond Guardian tells him. "Those two don't care for nothing but their own experiments, and don't bother with the greater parts of the universe."
"Then maybe we can force them." The Black Guardian grins while making a fist and throwing it at his open palm.
"Yes." The Gold Guardian rolls his eyes. "And then afterwards, we'll need to find new members of our little group."
"That's right." The Azure Guardian gets ready to leave. "Those two are one of the few direct descendants when Mortis fell, and gave birth to some of the most dangerous beings that have lived. Some using their powers for good, or others," A vision of GOLB is seen. "Being chaotic in nature. With the Brothers being a second generation from their predecessor, and wielding the powers of the Daughter and Son in terrifying succession. As such, it's best to just negotiate instead of brute forcing them."
"Do you even know where they are?" The Green Guardian says.
"Oh. I certainly do." The Azure Guardian chuckles as a new vision shows everybody of another world. One where brave men and women transfer their minds into eerily similar machines like the Shinkalions against a powerful enemy called the Union. A portal opened up and from there, the Guardian of the time portals left to meet the Brothers.
Dimension RMT-99...Atlas
"...an ocean you say." Things have been...rough for James. Ever since the Fall of Beacon, and the attack on Vale, James has felt a great unease ever since. Especially when he heard about the attack on Haven, caused by the White Fang. To think, even though Haven had done nothing of note against the faunus, they'd try to blow it up. Nearly succeeding, until some group stopped them as reports stated.
And now, he had other things to worry about. Like the whole strange signals Pietro picked up, where he sent his Ace-Ops to see what it was, only to learn what they found was some kind of portal that led to apparently, an ocean.
"Nothing but blue skies and endless water." The leader of the Ace-Ops, Clover, then tells him. "If anything, everything appeared to be normal."
"I see." James then grabbed his scroll and turned on the video Clover sent him, showing that it was an ocean seen on the other side of this portal. This certainly didn't seem too troublesome, but…
Why is this portal near Atlas? For what reason does it lead to the ocean? But more importantly...who made it?
'Salem?' At times like this, James Ironwood wished Ozpin was here to help him. To explain what was going on. Ever since Ozpin's death and the destruction in Vale, James felt a great unease and tried his best to ensure Atlas won't become the next Vale. The embargo, telling his closest allies of Salem, and then deciding to make Amity a new communications relay to connect the world once more.
Things were going fine, but now, this portal could change things.
'Or will it?' To be honest, he didn't know. As Clover said, it just led to the ocean. However, it'd be best to be careful and stay cautious just in case. While the portal may have been located about 103 miles away from Atlas and Mantle, one can never be to careful.
"Thank you for the information. For now, you'll be helping a few men set up shop near the portal. We're going to need as much information as possible to what this may become." Ironwood tells Clover who gives a salute.
"Understood sir. I'm on it." Then Clover left, leaving Ironwood alone in his office. Once the door closed, James stayed quiet and unmoving, then stood up and walked near the window, overlooking the entire academy and of course Atlas. His remaining human hand touched the glass, as he observed the city he swore to protect. Against the threat that walked on Remnant.
'But what could it be?' Such doubts and thoughts filled his mind many times, making James worried that he was playing in Salem's hands. Like at Vale, when his own machines turned against him and the people, making Atlas become traitors or fools in the eyes of the world. Even worse, because Vale's CCT was brought down, he couldn't contact Glynda or the other headmasters to see what was going on. Meaning he was blind.
"But I won't let that stop me." Ironwood says. Amity would be ready eventually. Winter will soon be the next Maiden. Not to mention thanks to Pietro, Penny was not only back up and running, but more powerful than before. Protecting Mantle as Grimm attacks have been rising. Though there were still tensions between Mantle and Atlas, especially with Robyn Hill taking parts for Amity. Not to mention Jaquess himself trying to run for the council.
"It'll all get better soon." Ironwood then tells himself. "Just a bit longer, and things will be alright." Robyn was a thorn, but not enough to stop Amity from being made. As for Jaquess, well...nothing he could really do about that. Then again, he didn't have to. While charismatic in his own way and far from stupid, Jaquess had very few likable traits, and it showed as while the man did gain a good support base, not enough to get him victory. Still, one never knew.
"I need time off." He sighed, as he could feel stress rising up. Mettle helped alleviate some of the tension and stress in him, but not all of it. He needed to do something. But what?
"It leads to an ocean."
Blinking, James then took out his scroll where he then once more looked at the video. He did have some time off by tomorrow, and thinking on it...what better way to spend it than by checking out this portal. To see just where on Remnant it was. Who knows, it could be beneficial.
Bzzz. Bzzz.
"Hm?" Ironwood then saw his scroll and apparently got a message. Checking it, he opened the message app and saw it came from...Qrow! Quickly he opened it, and went to read the contents.
Due to worldwide communications being down, it was much harder to communicate with anybody outside their respective kingdoms. However, if one took the necessary, but rather complicated and long, steps, then it was possible to contact someone from elsewhere. On it, the message said one thing.
'Heading toward Atlas.'
Ironwood smiled. It seems some good news was coming on the way after all. Hehe. He bet things were fine for them.
"Damn our luck." Qrow mutters as he holds Harbinger in his hands. Behind him was Team RNJR, along with none other than Ozpin's current reincarnation, Oscar. Blake, Yang, and Weiss also next to him while Jaune was near Blake who was injured with Weiss and Yang looking to help out. A good thing too.
"Will. Destroy." As in front of them was a massive stone golem, wearing a cloak and had six arms which each held a sharp looking scimitar, where the blades reflected some of their faces.
This sucked.
We'll go back in time and see just how our heroes of Remnant faced a being that definitely doesn't belong in Remnant. It's time for Ruby and the others to start getting involved.
