It was a short interview like all of the other interviews Lewis performed. He crossed off Mindy, Melvin, and Jack off his list. Lewis started to get a bit giddy when he drove to Bixby with trailer in tow. His trailer was large enough to fit a big family with two doors but it was just him. It was equipped with a small laboratory while the other side was his living arrangements. He was finally going to be at one of the most interesting places, Perfection. Lewis was on schedule to meet the government official residing over this district, W.D. Twitchell.

"You're the new scientist?" Twitchell looked over the papers with a bit of disgust. This will add three scientists to watch over. The problems will keep coming. Lewis nodded. "And you're supposed to watch the graboid?"

"In Layman's terms yes," Lewis replied. "I'll be in Perfection until all of my questions have been answered."

"Great," Twitchell signed a few of the papers. He handed them back to Lewis. "Do you need to be introduced to the town or are you on your own?"

"I can handle things from here," Lewis spoke with confidence. "Will you be at Perfection daily, or?"

"No," Twitchell shook his head. "Once a week maybe or if something happens."

"Ah, I see," Lewis looked away. "Best to be on my way then, want to keep on schedule."

"I-I'll follow you to make sure to the townspeople," Twitchell knew he had to go there just to smooth things over. "Understand who you are and what you are doing."

Jodi and Larry were trying to make graboid inspired breakfast items while Tyler was getting his vehicle ready for the tours. Just an average day for the Perfectionites. The truck with camper brought Tyler's and Burt's attention. Burt hightailed it back into town while Tyler moved away from his shop as he spotted Twitchell's car.

"Look who finally came back," Tyler saw the dust trail that notified him that Burt was on his way back.

"Alright, town meeting," Twitchell didn't even greet Tyler.

"Hello to you too," Tyler saw the truck and trailer just parked in the middle of the road. He took out his radio. "Twitchell town meeting asap, over."

"Copy that." The rest of the town replied one by one.

It took about thirty minutes to round up all the town's people. The two scientists and their assistants didn't come to the town meeting. The small group was sitting in the restaurant side of the Market. They were all facing Twitchell. Burt had his arms and legs crossed. Tyler was sitting on a barstool. Larry and Jodi were behind the counter. Nancy was sitting next to Rosalita. Harlowe was at his own table.

"Everyone this is the newest scientist who will be here until said otherwise," Twitchell introduced. Lewis walked in. "You know the drill, don't bother the scientists unless absolutely necessary."

"Hello everyone," Lewis greeted. "I am Dr. Lewis Thorpe. I will be observing El Blanco's behavior like any other mammalian. I won't try to put myself or the graboid in danger. This is just observation and noting those observations. Some experiments but nothing like the looks on your faces."

"You'll be observing it?" Burt leaned forward with concern. Memories of the Assblaster incident came flooding in.

"Yes," Lewis smiled. "As any new discovery, it shall be observed extensively."

"And you're staying in the RV out there?" Tyler asked next. Lewis nodded. "Will you be staying in the same area of the scientists?"

"No," Lewis shook his head. "They live in their designated areas, plus they prefer us to live in separate areas incase something happens. Your follow up questions of do I know the scientists- no I don't. Distance is preferred. I will also be conducting interviews with each of you, especially Mr. Gummer, who has been in all three instances of graboid life cycles."

"Wait, why interview all of us when that information is already publicized?" Harlowe didn't understand.

"You always retrace your steps, incase there is something missed," Lewis explained. "That is why I am precisely why I am here. To retrace the steps. After the interviews, Mr. Reed, I would love to take your Graboid Safari Tour. Which I think you need to switch the name since this is the American continent. Safari means journey in Swahili which was originally from the Arabic adjective safar meaning journey as well. Plus, you have made no immediate changes to the appropriating vehicle that plays upon the African Safari stereotype with animal prints. Graboid Encounters, Touring Perfection, Guiding Graboids, any revamped title would be better."

"Huh?" Tyler titled his head. This was actually a good idea. He didn't want to keep the connection with Jack anymore, especially since there was an argument between them on how to run the tour. Tyler started to smile. "I like that."

Lewis raised his eyebrows in surprise. "That turned out better than I hoped."

"Wait, you're going to change the name?" Jodi looked over to him.

"Yeah," this reassurance made Tyler feel more confident. "If I change and copyright it, I won't have to worry about Jack trying to reclaim it through some weird legal means. Thanks, and I will take you on that tour. Do you need help setting up camp?"

"Nope," Lewis waved his hand. "I appreciate the gesture, but it is better for me to park in the designated coordinates without the public knowing. That way all of us can keep each other honest. I will setup camp and will come back into town once I am ready for interviews. We can use this place here if its okay or if you would like, I can perform the interviews at your own homes. Whichever is more comfortable."

"We can do it here," Burt didn't want others in his home. "This is location is home base." Lewis nodded.

There weren't any further discussions. Lewis headed out to park his camper at the designated coordinates. These coordinates were on ground of solid rock. This way it would not affect any of his studies or observations. He wasn't located near the mine where the attacks from Mixmaster creatures. He was in another secluded area. He made sure to level his campsite and further setup satellite equipment.

Ting!

A message notification alerted Casey and Rose that the newest scientist had setup base camp. Casey read the message and continued what she was doing while Rose was in the lab finishing up the last section so she could head onto the next room. She was itching to get down there but had to remember that the first level was the largest.

Larry, Jodi, Tyler, Nancy, and Rosalita were discussing on the changes on Tyler's tours. They were hashing out what color to repaint the vehicle. Nancy volunteered to reupholster the seats to a snake print type or alligator print trying to mimic the graboids skin. Larry suggested painting the shop to look like a giant graboid. That was a good idea as then it sprung onto other topics. Harlowe headed out as he still had a list of things to do. Burt spoke with Twitchell about the influx of tourists. Twitchell argued that he couldn't really do anything about it. He also mentioned to Burt about how he managed to end up in a fashion magazine. Twitchell only knew about this thanks to his wife. Burt told him how it happened. The two were still amazed about the end result.

It took a few days for Lewis to setup inside his facility. He had antennas and satellites on his roof. Inside were monitors that had real time views of the valley, seismic monitor, topography, and much more. He had an online connection to all seismic graphs. It had its own monitor and printer. His lab side was mostly computers with a small area for lab work.

His first interview of the town was Harlowe, who didn't have much information. The same with Rosalita. Next was Larry, Tyler, and Jodi. He had longer conversations with Nancy and Burt. Nancy was there for two of the life cycles while Burt was there for all three along with other incidents. Burt gave him detailed information he was wanting. In return, Burt asked the questions he couldn't at the first meeting. The two had to be kicked out by Jodi as they were talking after closing time.

Lewis' actual first day of graboid observation was mapping out El Blanco's movements. He had Rhonda's and Burt's information from when the graboids were first publicly discovered to the graboids that went through life cycles to become Assblasters. He printed them out on clear projector sheets. He placed them on the map board behind him. He did have pictures of it on his computers as well as computer generated of movements but a hard copy was best. He could also use erasable markers on them.

On the board besides the maps indicating the graboid movements, there were also pictures of the first incidents to the most recent graboid incidents. There were also some questions written on there. How did the first graboid incident occur? How did the second graboid incident occur? How did the second Perfection graboid incident occur? Are there any previous incidents of graboid attacks that we don't know of?

He didn't have to interview the two other scientists as he had access to their work on graboid observations. Lewis planned out that he will go on Tyler's tour, map out all of Perfectionites movements, and then to follow El Blanco for 24 hours.

Burt couldn't help his curiosity. He grabbed his radio. "Rose, Burt here, come in. Switch over frequency, over."

Wes looked over to Rose who was jotting down her notes. He glanced at the time. "Called it. You lost."

Rose looked up from her work. She glanced over to the clock. "The bet was that Burt called after his meeting with Dr. Thorpe."

"Yeah, it's after," Wes smirked.

"It's been thirty hours, twenty-three minutes, and fifty-two seconds," Rose went back to work. "Your technicality of after doesn't work. You lose, you pay up."

"After means an event or another period of time," Wes argued.

"We are not arguing if it's a preposition, conjunction, or adverb," Rose grabbed the radio. "New bet?"

"You can't get out of this bet," Wes waved his finger back and forth.

"It's a stalemate," Rose concluded. She moved the dial on the radio. "Rose here, over."

"Do you know anything about this new scientist, over?" Burt asked.

"I do know all about him but he doesn't know about me," Rose explained. "Or which scientist is working in the Proudfoot Lab. He is here for graboid behavior and all things graboids, over."

Burt let out a sigh of relief. "Will you two work together?"

"Who knows what the future holds," Rose teased. "Possibly, but mostly with El Blanco's interaction with the lab."

"That's all I needed, over and out," Burt felt reassured.

"Not a stalemate, you just hate losing," Wes went back to teasing her.

"Rejection is a part of nature, try again," Rose went back to writing.

"You just don't want to perform the bet since you lost," Wes wouldn't let it go. "I mean I wouldn't want to either if I lost, but I didn't."

Rose rolled her eyes. She put down her pen and stared at him. "I'll let this one slide, that you won. Persuasion is not consent by the way."

"Oh," Wes leaned back. "Alright." He waved his hand. "But a bet is a bet."

Rose cleared her throat. She moved her mouth to speak with a Donald Duck voice. "Hey! What's the big idea?" Wes doubled over with laughter. Rose flipped him off while getting back to work. She wanted to get back to work to get through the first floor. Wes noticed how anxious she was getting and tried to calm her down by making a bet with her.

Lewis kept on schedule by taking the tour and jotting down the maps. He was ready to finally follow El Blanco. He woke up before midnight. Got his items ready. He drove out to find El Blanco at the last location on the seismograph.

"I am here starting my first twenty-four hours of observing the albino graboid named El Blanco," Lewis spoke into his headset. "Graboid seems dormant, possible sleeping. Not enough information on if graboids sleep. No hibernation other than the eggs. If no sounds are made, graboid is dormant. Graboids are also named 'land sharks' but nothing similar in the perpetual movement to keep the being alive." Lewis was far enough away to observe the graboid to watch without interfering.

He continued to watch the graboid as it began to move around a few hours later. He kept his distance, speaking into his headset of his continuous observations. Notable behaviors he observed where similar to a great white shark. Graboids will place some of their beaks out of the ground like a great white shark spy-hopping. As the graboid is curious but also waiting for their prey. Lewis watched as the tentacles crept out of the body trying to reach animals that jumped onto residual boulders sticking out of the ground.

Dr. Lewis Thorpe enjoyed following El Blanco around on it's daily routine. Burt was annoyed having to follow both El Blanco and Lewis all day. He didn't want this new scientist to be eaten up. He felt as if he was babysitting, again.

Tyler was at the Market with Jodi and Larry. He was looking at Larry's sketches he made for the new designs for the vehicle and shop. "These are amazing, Larry. I like the style of this one, but I like the name of this one. Could you try something like that?"

"Sure!" Larry was happy that he was getting the concepts right. Not everyone can convey what they have in mind to others. Larry wrote down on his notepad while Tyler was still looking through the sketches.

"I like the mural idea for mine, instead of a big graboid," Tyler continued. "But I don't want it to clash against the Market's mural. Maybe instead, lets do more like this one." It was a picture of the bulldozer and trailer from the first incident.

Jodi was going through orders. She was jotting down inventory that could be marked as sale items since not a lot of people bought them. She was half listening to their conversation.

Nancy came in with different materials for the seat covers. Larry and Tyler chose the best one to fit with the new theme. It was all coming together. When the finalization happens, Jodi and Tyler will copyright and patent the new logo. That way Tyler could be worry free from Jack and possibly Melvin trying to get their hands on his tours.

Tyler could not stop smiling. It was a good day. He felt like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon. The wings were drying and he was ready to take his first flight.

The postman came in with several boxes, Tyler went to help him. "Who ordered all of this?"

"That would be me!" Larry was now on the same cloud as Tyler. "These are the new posters we will be selling. I designed all of them and made sure they were copyrighted. Part of the profits are going towards our museum."

Tyler helped bring in the last box as the postman thanked him for helping. "Posters?"

"Yeah, take a look," Larry rifled through his bag to bring out a folder. "I have the smaller versions in here." Jodi and Nancy came over.

"Close Encounters of the Graboid Kind."

"Beaks."

"Precambrian Park."

"Larry, these are all play on words of famous movies," Tyler lectured him.

"Yes, but none of them had been copyrighted," Larry informed him. "We have the play on movies and songs, anything famous that wasn't copyrighted that I could use my creativity. We also have originals, mine, Jodi's, Nancy's, anyone in Perfection, really. I put it on our blog. Plus, I will have your poster done, so that people can buy it as well."

"My poster?" Tyler was confused.

"I'm making posters about everyone," Larry explained. "Your tours, Burt as a monster hunter, Nancy as an artist, Nancy and Mindy duo, Mindy on growing up, Jodi as an entrepreneur, Rosalita and Harlowe as ranchers, me as me. Things like that."

"You're not making any poster of our scientists, are you?" Jodi cut in.

"Not to the public," Larry lowered his voice. "I have them still as my fanart. I will do the graboids and life cycle, obviously, but more stand alone. If I had taken more of that photography class or actually go into graphic design, I could have made better posters, but I can always learn that on my downtime. Anyways, Jodi and I are trying all our resources, just to build up the name, and to get it before anyone else can, or what's left of it."

"You think Melvin and Jack are up to something since they met up?" Tyler looked at the three of them.

"Of course," Nancy nodded. "I hate to say it, but Melvin and Jack both want to cut and polish this diamond of a town. Thankfully, El Blanco and Mixmaster, there won't be much of that."

"We also have Larry on our side, and now Grady," Jodi agreed. "We can hold out a better chance against them. Melvin may be a bit richer, but making a contracted deal with Grady, we may see Perfection on the map more. Plus, we can boost each other's business. A win-win situation. I don't see that with either Jack or Melvin."

The four kept discussing the plans and goals they had for the town. Perfection was going to be a famous town but famous enough that it was still safe by conglomerates and those who only cared about making a quick buck.

Burt was still checking on Lewis every so often. He would find him in a different place each time. Burt let out a disappointing sigh each time. He would view Lewis with his binoculars from a safe distance. Burt noticed that Lewis mostly watched El Blanco with a camera and binoculars, digging in the ground, and surveying the places where El Blanco defecated. Same routine, nothing out of the ordinary. Burt let up on watching him as it didn't seem like it was all too bad.

What Burt didn't see was Lewis burying special type of equipment in different sections of the area. This equipment allowed Lewis to measure the size of El Blanco, speed, weight, and all sorts of measurement. Some of the devices can do x-ray like while the others are similar in ground penetrating radar.

This equipment wouldn't pose a threat to El Blanco since it doesn't give up any vibration. Its more of a detector. As it needs to be in a pair, aligned perfectly up. Much like a person going through the lines at the airport with the TSA. Lewis buried them deep underground with specials tools. Battery life was up to ten years.

Lewis had two stationed around the defecating areas for the weight and size measurements mostly. He placed them in the most frequented routes El Blanco takes. If Lewis could ever get the chance, he also had special tracking devices to stick on El Blanco. However, it was one step at a time.
