Chapter 30: Friend vs Foe
A/N Do not worry, I am not dead. I am just really, really, unbelievably bad at time management. I'm not going to make any promises because I don't want to keep breaking them. All I can really say is thank you for reading my stories, I hope you enjoy them, and I hope they brought a bit of delight to your day. Now, enjoy this, and please do leave a review.
Kilowog:
"Why is Atrocitus here," I thought, watching as the red lantern struggles to break free of our chains. His ring glowing bright, I tighten the chains and force Atrocitus to lose his concentration, the glow fading. "He must be here with the others! They're all in it together! I have to stop them!"
The glow to my green lantern shining now, my will to protect fueling it, I clench my fist. The chains around Atrocitus tighten as well, the villain screams as air is forced out!
"I have to do this," I say, squeezing my fingers against the palm of my hand. "There are just too many enemies! We can't just keep putting them in our holding cells! We have to start doing something!"
"Kilowog," Arisia yells, hitting and destroying my chains. "What are you doing!"
"What am I doing," I scream, "What are you doing!"
"Saving someone from being choke out," Arisia yells, looking back at Atrocitus as he drops to the ground, landing on his hands and knees. Breathing heavily, he places his hand against his neck.
"What were you doing," Arisia yells, looking at all of us. "We're Green Lanterns! We save lives, not destroy them! Friend or foe! Enemies or not!"
"Arisia," I start my ring's glow brightening. "You don't get to judge us! You don't get to say 'We're Green Lanterns'! You are only with us because we needed an extra body! Nothing more, nothing less! Now, get out of the way!"
Summoning a giant hand to swat Arisia away, I look to the surrounding green lanterns!
"Green Lanterns," I yell, raising my ring. "Fire at Atrocitus!"
The surrounding Green Lanterns all raising their rings as well, fire at Atrocitus! About to hit him, Arisia drops in and raises her own ring, a bubble appears and blocks all our attacks!
"Arisia you fool," I say, putting more power into my ring and causing my beam to grow bigger and bigger. Struggling to stay in the air, her bubble beginning to crack, I could clearly see sweats pouring down Arisia's face!
"You're an enemy now," I say, the bubble finally breaking open and our beams hitting Arisia! Screaming as they hit her, she drops to the ground, falling beside Atrocitus, smoking.
Preparing one final beam, I look right at Atrocitus and Arisia.
"This had to be done."
Firing my ring, Arisia and Atrocitus disappear into a cloud of smoke. Waiting for the smoke to dispense, I jump back when I see a second bubble, surrounding both Arisia and Atrocitus, the two completely unharmed!
Wondering who saves them, something hits and knocks me out of the air. Recovering fast, I look up to see the man in sunglasses, the man who stole Hal Jordan's ring, the man who saved enemies of the Green Lanterns!
"You need to calm down," he screams, tilting forward and making his hoverboard move.
"And you need to go down," I yell, pulling back my arm before shooting it forward.
The:
Pulling back my own arm and shooting it forward, I fire a small beam right into the center of Kilowog's beam. Twisting my wrist, I made my beam grow and grow, causing it to break apart Kilowog's blast! Jumping back as his blast breaks apart, he looks at the other Green Lanterns!
"Take him down," he orders, pointing a finger at me. "I have had enough of you! Take him down now!"
Nodding their heads, they all charge toward me, their rings up and about. Firing at me, I swipe my hand and put a wall between me and them! While a few stop to try and break the wall, a few fly around and try to hit me from behind!
Swiping my hand again, another wall appears and blocks their attacks! Looking at the walls as they stay strong against the Green Lantern's attack, I begin to hear the sound of a buzzsaw! Looking up, I see Kilowog toss a spinning buzzsaw toward me. Slamming my hands together, I call forth two giant hammers to crush the buzzsaw, the saw shattering into millions of shards!
Focusing my will, I change the hammers into dragons, one dragon flying to face Kilowog while the other dragon breathes fire at the Green Lanterns surrounding me. Screaming and flying away, I look at Arisia and Atrocitus. Flying to them, my dragons begin more than enough to hold the Green Lanterns back, I jump off and check their pulse.
"Weak," I say, gently putting Atrocitus's hand down. "But still there. Come on, I know a doctor that can help you two."
Hearing a cry from behind, I turn around to see one of my dragons fall at the hand of Kilowog. Punching him in the head and stunning him, Kilowog then summons a giant boulder to fall right on top of my dragon, crushing him. Watching as he disappears into bits of green, Kilowog then notices us.
His eyes looking more red than black, he rockets toward us. More than prepared to match Kilowog, fists for fists, a blue and red blur from out of nowhere charges and knocks him off course.
"What in the world," I say, watching as the blur practically tosses Kilowog a few dozen feet away. The blur standing still, revealing herself to be Kara.
"Kara," I scream, seeing Kara and Kara seeing me. Flying down to me, she drops a few feet away.
"The," she screams, "Are you okay?"
"Uhh, I think so," I reply, looking myself over. "A few cuts and bruises but overall, I'm fine. They, however, are not."
Stepping aside to show Arisia and Atrocitus, the two of them unconscious, Kara steps back.
"What happened," she asks, looking at me and at them.
"They happened," I say, pointing at the Green Lanterns as they still struggle to defeat my one dragon. "And so did he."
Kilowog recovering from Kara's tackle, we both enter fighting stance, our fists close and feet apart.
Noticing a flashing coming from Hal's ring, I look down at it.
"Hal's ring is flashing," I whisper. "It's losing power."
"I know," Kara replies, "Your little 'ball' trapping us disappears. Why else would I be here?"
"Yeah, I would say sorry about that but then I would be lying. Kara, please listen. Arisia and Atrocitus need our help. I'm going to take them to see the doc but while I do that, I need you to try and hold Kilowog back."
"Got it," Kara says, looking at Kilowog as he hovers above us. "But wait, what about the ring? Does it have enough power left?"
"Don't worry about that. I may not have a battery or anything like that, but I do have a ton of will. And sometimes, that's all you really need."
